Wow is smogon just filled with death metal junkies?

Here's my list, don't know if all of them are considered metal, but I really don't care:
Protest the Hero
Woe of Tyrants
The Agonist
Becoming the Archetype
Opeth
The Human Abstract
The Chariot-Not really metal(more mathcore), but they're really good. Teach by The Chariot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ermp7sY3UIY

eluveitie - slania (yeah yeah it's shitty watered down folky melodeath go wank your kvltness somewhere else)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4zyDRLPB8s

I love some of the songs off that album.

Shit I've been listening to:

Opeth - Ghost of Perdition

It took me about 2 years to finally get around to downloading them. I'm very dissappointed that it took me that long.

Turisas - In the Court of Jarisleif

This song (and band for that matter) are just flat fun.

Ayreon - Day 3: Pain

I just love the stories this band makes. Music's not too bad either.

nope. i'm more into doom and prog, and i know deschain (who iirc hasn't posted itt yet, oddly) prefers doom too.

i'm just getting into ayreon myself and tbh i view them as a more interesting dream theater. which is a good thing.

a lot of the regulars it seems like are very into death metal yes (myself included) but i think most people here have at least one band in most genres of metal

so some more non death metal stuff i'm into to add to coroner and converge, and those bm bands i posted before:

angel witch (traditional metal):

celtic frost (thrash with some doomy and proto black elements):

I love protest the hero! Those Canadians go hard.

And the chariot is my favorite metalish band. I love the Long Live album. You have great taste

^^ Cannibal Corpse is a fun band to listen to. Tomb of the Mutilated was just downright disturbing though.

Fantastic band if you enjoy vocals, and still very good if you aren't overly partial to them. Seriously it's astounding how many good guest vocalists this guy gets, and the performances he draws out of them. The interwoven stories of each album and how each actor (more appropriate than "singer" in this case) plays their part is fantastic.

I'm not really sure what I'm into... I really like bands like Opeth, but I also like Woe of Tyrants. Have you ever heard of them?
Threnody by Woe of Tyrants:

Anyway, I listen to Converge, they're really good.

My current favorite metal bands

-Metallica
-Slayer
-Iron Maiden
-Megadeth
-Testament
-Trivium

And I know that these guys aren't technically metal but I also enjoy

-Bullet for my Valentine
-Killswitch Engage

I'm really excited for Trivium's new album coming out soon and the possibility of a Metallica album either this year or next.

I'm trying to get involved in more newer metal bands. Does anyone have any suggestions?

heard of Woe of Tyrants. that song was okay, better than i was expecting. still not better than okay in my opinion though.
Um probably my favorite is The Black Dahlia Murder just because they are from Michigan

wait, they are?
goddammit.

"better" metal from Michigan:

I can't wait for their new album :D Have you listen to their new song? It's called C'est La Vie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z29basl7Lcs

Same here, Long Live is definitely their best album. My favorite song off of it is The City. It has some amazing lyrics in it. Thanks ^_^

Hey man that PTH song is a little different, but it kicks ass. The guitarists of that band just shred all day long! Although, I must say my fav song by them is Bloodmeat. Yeahh it's their most popular, but it makes me jizz when I listen to it <3

The city is also my fav Chariot song. The whole last half of it is just epic as fuck.

Alexisonfire isn't metal at all. /rage

You might like Red Fang (as should everyone else here):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjfkYWz6l5E
The song starts around 55 seconds in, but the video is incredibly funny the whole way through.

And Death Angel (Older, but their new album is intense):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BT5z6Vbg31s (Relentless Revolution, Relentless Revolution, 2010)

more like Protest the Good Music LMAO

anyways I've had God Macabre on my Itunes for months but I never got around to listening to it until today and goddamn am I sorry that I did not listen to this sooner. It kicks so much ass.

The Winterlong is their only album but it's incredibly solid Swedish Death Metal

Their first two albums were better imo, I didn't really like Threnody. Kingdom of Might is pure gold though.

I totally agree. My favorite PtH song is Turn Soonest to the Sea, I just love the ending of that song.

I don't think their is a Chariot song I hate, but if I have to pick one, I would pick Overseas off of Wars and Rumors of Wars. It's a strange choice because it's only 40 secs long, but it's 40 secs of pure epicness! Lol. I love the video to that song...
