If the launch pool was a bit better, I don't think anyone would've had an issue

Like, actually making good use of your 3DS for those first months.
I would've had an issue still -- it was $350 AUD (which, today, is $363 USD, and it was around that at the time it was released) here and now it's the price you Americans were buying it at -.- /whine /whine /whine

But yeah. The launch was botched. This 'pacing' thing isn't working so well. The kinds of people, or, at least, many of them, who'd go pick up a 3DS the day it launched, at launch price, wanted something they could actually play with :/ All the good titles are coming out around now to endyear, except for OoT 3D, which was a port. There are many 3DS titles endyear / early next year that I'm anticipating, would've been nice if some were launch titles.

Oh, that and region-locking...

I haven't been motivated to post here but here it goes. I got the 3DS on the release day and I've loved it, it's fantastic and I don't see it being replaced in the near future. Everyone talks about how lowering the prices means that we got cheated for buying it earlier, but that's a fallacy of sorts because it implies that nothing was gained from using the console before the price drop. For example: You buy a DVD at $20 and you watch it 3 times with friends and let your neighbors borrow it, thereafter the price goes to $15. If you were to say "You got shorted for buying it at $20", you are essentially saying "Watching that movie 3 times with your friends and letting your neighbors borrow it wasn't worth $5" which is a really odd ideology

I dunno, unless you love the fuck out of Nintendogs, you weren't getting any use out of it. Mine's sat on my desk, untouched, except for when I was playing OoT, which was a good several months after the system was released.

Four Swords for 3DS (also DSi) came out today! I, unfortunately, know no one with a 3DS that I could play this with, but there is a single player mode that doesn't seem too bad if you were really bored.

But yeah, go download it, it's free.

Unfortunately, no. I just downloaded it myself, and it says you can only play it locally with someone else who's also downloaded it. I was hoping it could at least be played via Download Play if only one person had the game, but sadly, that's not the case either. I am glad they included a single player mode, though. Either way, hooray for free stuff!

Its a free game, download play would make no sense. No Wifi on the other hand is kinda sad but then again ... its a free game.

Edit: Forgot about reg DS's

Umm has the 10 free gba games been announced yet. Also luckily i have quite a few 3dsers willing to play four swords together. Its fum of you get four players.

so i'll probably be getting a 3DS shortly and i have a fair idea of what games i want to get (OoT at first, then SM3D and MK7 later this year)

however, are there any underappreciated gems released on the 3DS that might be worth checking out?

(i'm also umming and ahhing over starfox 3D; if someone could confirm that krystal is nowhere to be seen i'd appreciate it a lot)

completed the main story and krystal is not there nor in the manual, so probably either not in it or a secret character. just bought the system and game yesterday, so I haven't had too much time to figure out everything though.

I personally really liked Ghost Recon Shadow Wars and Shin Megami Tensei, very underrated. They're both strategy games though so if you're not into that genre steer clear.

Starfox 3D is completely beautiful. It's the first 3DS game where I feel like I'm actively missing out if I don't play with the 3D effect - from the asteroids rushing at the screen to the magnificent thunderstorm in Zoness. And no, there is no krystal, it's pretty much the same gameplay-wise as the N64 version, except the enemy AI during some of the dogfights is much better (especially if you try to take it on in free battle mode, where it will probably kick your ass).

We only know 5 of the 10 games

Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island
Mario Kart Advance
Metroid Fusion
WarioWare
Mario vs. Donkey Kong

and yeah four swords is certainly tons of "fum". The two new areas are really cool and unlike the gamecube one this game scales to the number of players and also has randomized levels and puzzles.

You are doing it a great disservice by playing the game in single player. It's probably much harder to get rupees which you need to get the gold and hero keys.

Oh and Ghost Recon is a good game, but my problem was that it just made me want to play advance wars. Which I did, then didn't want to play Ghost Recon. I've sunk about 10 hours into it and I'll probably keep playing. There are two new areas as well, although I've only seen one of them, the best part is that they have three stages rather than two and a boss. I've always found the boss battles to suck in these games and they aren't very memorable.

Four Swords is great fun, but I've only been able to meet up and play with one friend so far. However, I do have another three or four somewhat local friends who all have 3DS's so I'm sure I'll be able to get a four-player run going at some point in the future. Multiplayer is definitely where it's at. I've only got the three Silver Keys so far, I find myself wanting to play it multiplayer and don't care if I have to do the same levels again because it's so much fun. I'm not a Zelda fan, either.

Really looking forward to Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 this year - I think those are the only games I will buy though (until next year).

Not sure if this should be posted here, but since this has turned into a general discussion of anything 3DS...

Nintendo has just released the trailers for their upcoming games (mario kart 7, super mario 3D land, papar mario and more). This just gets me more impatient.

EDIT: On the eShop I mean.

Yeah, I've watched those trailers. Really looking forward to all of the games you mentioned :)

Also, I've found myself really considering Sonic Generations. I don't own an Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 so it'd have to be the 3DS version for me. What are everyone else's impressions so far? The style of Sonic games will mean visuals won't be an issue - I think in some areas the 3DS will push the graphics of the Wii anyway, along with the added 3D to compensate for the HD on the console versions. Gameplay wise, I don't foresee msny issues either.

However, I think it's the kind of game I'd wait on. I'll see some reviews first and see how it really compares (and I'll still likely get the upcoming Mario games before this).

I am a little confused and need help, pretty please -- I updated my system before the due date, and I just updated it again, so where are the games? :(

You need to go to purchases. The games are already "bought" there, and you have to download them from there.

This is pretty hot: New white 3DS

Also Keiji Inafune revealed the first game he's working on since leaving Capcom - it's a 3DS action-RPG based on the Three Kingdoms story, with Dreamworks-y animals?

I can dig it.

And while I'm here, box art for RE: revelations along with the Gamestop pre-order bonus - a 3DS case with a light-sensitive decal on the front

That looks amazing, that game had better make it to the west or I will be infinitely pissed. I also hope it gets online play in the localization but that's just a pipe-dream.

Yeah, I'll be so disappointed if there's no Monster Hunter outside of Japan. If they do release it and there's no Wi-Fi we've been royally screwed. Even the PSP versions had online play so if they don't do it for 3DS it's outrageous.

Played Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land today. They're awesome, but the action in Mario Kart made the 3D problematic. However, I was stood up so it might be different when sat down.

There was a competition at my local shopping mall, to see who could get the fastest two laps around the first track.

I won for today, of course.

That's pretty rad, also, classy belt buckle.

So new game trailers eh? This is Nano Assault by Shen'en, and it looks completely awesome. The premise is that you're a microscopic ship/drone flying inside people's bodies neutralizing infections and shit.

Nano Assault

Also there's a new(ish) trailer out for Cave Story 3D: Looks much better in motion than it did in screen captures. A reminder that this is a full on retail game, not eShop. There's a DSiware Cave Story so there's always some confusion.

Edit: this post is severly lacking pictures and oh god I just remembered I haven't talked about Guild 01 yet.

It's a 4 game in one cart deal being published by Developed by Level-5, with 4 great names behind each game.

First off is Kaihio Shoujo (Liberty Girl) produced by the great Suda 51 of grasshopper studios. Let's hit some copy pasta: " a 3D shooter in which you play as a mech called Kaihoki (Liberation Machine), your goal is to eliminate all the demon beasts. The game will have cut-scenes from Bones."

Next up is Crimson Shroud, "a dark fantasy adventure RPG from Yasumi Matsuno (Final Fantasy XII), the story is about a shroud with great magical power from 1000 years ago."

Third is Rental Bukiya de Omasse, "a weapon shop RPG from Yoshiyuki Hirai, in the game you are the weapon shop owner, you and your apprentice craft weapons and rent them to adventurers."

And finally we have Air Porter, "an airport simulation game from Yoot Saito (producer of Seaman, Odama, Sim Tower), you play as an airport baggage controller, you manage baggage transportations, and the goal is to expand the airport."
