Pet Mod Not My Type

Votes are in! The winning sub is...
Three Types:
Steel.png
Fairy.png
Dark.png

Oops! No Hazards!
There was some confusion on how the voting system worked so I'll link the spreadsheet I used to count votes.

In addition to every move of those types being banned, some additional moves and abilities will be banned as they may cause some kind of interaction that forces a Pokemon or move into becoming one of those types...
  • Galvanize
  • Camouflage
  • Conversion
  • Conversion 2
  • Hidden Power
  • Judgment
  • Metronome
  • Multi-Attack
  • Nature Power
  • Natural Gift
  • Techno Blast
  • Terrain Pulse
  • Weather Ball
  • Maybe more, please tell me if I missed something
Additionally, I would like to point out that Levitate, Electric Surge, Hadron Engine, and Surge Surfer are all notably still on the table since they all have interactions with other stuff that does not involve their respective typings. If an ability or move is not mentioned here, for example Lightning Rod, then it's fine to be used although in cases like Lightning Rod they would functionally be flavor-only.

Regardless, time to sub some 'mons!

Slate 1: Starting Out

This will be the first Fakemon slate. You can sub exactly one Fakemon. It can be whatever you'd like as long as it follows the rules outlined in the first post. I would prefer you try to hit somewhere around a Gen 9 OU power level for simplicity's sake, although you're free to adjust that a little bit if this slate's other subs end up being wildly higher or lower than that. Some assorted ideas and thoughts for you all...
  • In general I think it's best to use this first slate to set a defensive benchmark. Though not everyone should submit bulkier Pokemon, I'd appreciate if we saw at least a couple. Keep in mind that for Slate 0 a lot of people seemed to dislike the move U-Turn so I'd consider building subs that lack a pivoting move.
  • Flying is arguably a much stronger type here. Two of its main resists are gone, although that much might be somewhat counterbalanced by Steel losing its most important weakness and still resisting it. Two of Flying's three weaknesses are gone, though, with Ice being the only one remaining and with it no longer needing to run Heavy-Duty Boots to counteract Stealth Rock. Every remaining entry hazard is actually grounded so Boots would be completely purposeless. With this type potentially being so much stronger, how much would you need to adjust a Pokemon that has it for it to feel properly balanced here, especially if it's defensively-focused or has coverage for Steels?
  • Without any proper immunities in the game, the move Glare is significantly stronger, although it's probably to the point where it's just really obnoxious now lmao. The move Stun Spore is notable here since only Grass-types are immune to it and the accuracy is much more reasonable of a drawback, plus there are abilities like Sap Sipper and Overcoat that can still block it.
  • Dark not being removed means Ceaseless Edge is still on the table although I'll personally be voting against anything that gets subbed with this ability since it feels like it goes against the intention of this type chart.
  • Sand is still explorable and Steel is the only type that is immune to its chip damage. Sand Force is hilariously bad now, but even if we don't want to build around Sand Rush, someone could definitely build a Steel-type around that chip damage being a lot stronger. Making it a fatter Steel would be the more obvious route but an offensive Steel with it could be a whole lot more interesting if pulled off well.
  • Grass has lost its two most important resists and you could argue both of its remaining resists got way weaker offensively. Is there any way to still squeeze some use out of it with some secondary typing?

You will have around four days to make your sub! If you'd like feedback, we have a channel for that in our Discord server!

Before i sub, i’d like to mention how good fire has it now

Defensively, it’s one of the better types in the game. It’s only weak to water, which only hits fire for SE damage, and resists Ice, Steel, Grass, Fairy, and Bug, most of which also got buffed from the removal of rock and ground.
Offensively, it’s now arguably steel’s most important weakness, as well as hitting the aforementioned Ice, Grass, and Bug for SE damage, and is only resisted by Water, Dragon, and Itself.

With that in mind, i made this with the hopes that a fire type could keep it in check

Armair (Skarmory Prevo) :skarmory:
Eviolite Compatible
Stats: 50/50/80/60/55/40 (335)
Abilities: Iron Barbs/Limber//Weak Armor
Steel/Flying
Status: Spiky Shield, Substitute, Endure, Iron Defense, Whirlwind, Taunt, Roost, Defog, Tailwind, Screech, Metal Sound, Rest, Autotomize, Sleep Talk, Protect

Special: Air Slash, Air Cutter, Hyper Voice, Gust

Physical: Aerial Ace, Metal Claw, Cut, Slash, Peck
(Move, Unviable/Niche Move)

Limber is just nipping glare in the bud.
Now that steel/flying has only one weakness to fire, and rocks literally dont exist anymore, skarmory is probably dumb with its 65/140/70 bulk over here. So i gave it a baby form with a much more respectable 50/80/55 spread. It is eviolite compatible, but then you lose out on leftovers, Rocky Helmet, or Covert Cloak. Fire is probably hitting its weaker side anyways. Iron Barbs punishes U-turn, since we all hate U-turn apparently. Its shallow movepool also holds it back, especially with the loss of spikes.
Defog might seem odd to keep in the “viable” list, but toxic spikes and screens are still kicking, and especially with screens removal still seems really important.

Ability: Water Veil/Mirror Armor/(Ice Body)
Typing: Ice/Water
Stats: 85/70/115/110/75/55 (510 BST)
Weight: 120,4kgs

Relevant Moves: Air Slash, Blizzard, Body Press, Counter, Defog, Encore, Flip Turn, Freeze-Dry, Grass Knot, Haze, Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Iron Defense, Roost, Seismic Toss, Surf, Whirlwind, Toxic, Gen 9 Universal Moves

Description: A large penguin Pokemon with icy armor who guards other Ice-type pokemon from Fire-type Pokemon. Penguard can serve as a mix of an offensive and defensive pivot with a mix of perfect coverage in 2 moves between its Water STAB and Freeze-Dry and a number of utility moves. It can stay healthy thanks to Roost, can prevent setup with Haze, Whirlwind or Encore, can pivot with Flip Turn and it can even use the well-known Iron Defense+Body Press combo. Thanks to its Water resistance and Burn immunity thanks to Water Veil, it will likely make a good switchin to defensive Water-types that will like using Scald. However, despite its solid Defense stat and only being weak to Fighting and Grass, Penguard is only resistant to Water and Ice and has somewhat low HP, limiting its defensive capabilities. Still, I believe it could anchor some teams quite well.

Weight: 120 kg
Description: I might completely replace this one later if I end up being wrong but if people submit bulkier Pokemon as I'd hope they would then I'd want at least some kind of choices for offensive stuff. Water is still a solid neutral typing from an offensive standpoint. The biggest thing hindering it is actually how Water is also stronger defensively, but for a Pokemon like this, you don't really care about that as much. Good as Gold is mostly to block against most status and phasing and but you're still vulnerable to Scald burns and Toxic Spikes. General frailty will force you to lean on your typing and Good as Gold to find boosting opportunities and its Speed tier is something we can creep with future Scarfers. Also, I added Bulk Up. I have to imagine it's worse than Dragon Dance but being able to use it fast should give it an easier time setting up vs some stuff.

And some more subbing resources I forgot to share...

And here's a sheet that will help with filling out movepools. Note that this still includes banned moves / types so please be careful; you'll still need to go through this sheet's output and manually change stuff.

Name: Wet Magcargo
Type: Fire/Water
Abilities: Magma Armor / Flame Body | Weak Armor
Stats: 60/50/120/90/80/30
Notable moves: Recover, Scald, Lava Plume, Clear Smog, Shell Smash, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Surf, Hydro Pump
All moves: regular Magcargo's moves + Hydro Pump, Surf, Scald, Water Pulse, Water Gun (- banned moves ofc)
Design: Magcargo, but its shell is made of water and its eyes are blue instead of yellow

With a type combination that has no weaknesses, Wet Magcargo might actually be good. While it lost Stealth Rock, Scald gives it good utility, threatening burns against most switch-ins and hitting the burn-immune Fire-types super effectively. It also has reliable recovery in the form of Recover, and can even use Clear Smog to hinder setup sweepers. You can also use Shell Smash if you're feeling devious.
Wet Magcargo's biggest weakness is its lack of coverage, leaving it walled by Water- and Dragon-types. Its attacking stats aren't very good either, and its below-average defensive stats mean it may go down to a few neutral hits, get stalled out of Recover PP by a powerful attacker, or get set up on and killed before it can use Clear Smog. Its low Speed and bad coverage makes Shell Smash ineffective.
Generally, Wet Magcargo has good utility and is a great defensive backbone against many threats, but can be exploited as setup fodder in its bad matchups.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! By getting rid of the Electric-type, you've created a world without engines...electricity...and running water. A world without everything we took for granted...And now...we're back...to the Dark Ages!

Weight: 45.4 kg.
Flavor: A world without electricity...how will the people ever power their machines in this land? Fortunately, there exists a Pokémon that helps villagers power all sorts of machines with it's giant water wheel by installing itself into makeshift watermills. It gathers water on the top of it's wheel, before spinning it around to create kinetic energy that it then unleashes towards it's opponents by grinding them with the wheel itself! While it's normally a docile Pokémon, if there has been a heavy rainfall recently, Vitruvia becomes fired up and will challenge any opponent that threatens the rivers it lives in without fear.
Role: A good, all rounded Water-type wall that can tank a lot of damage and has decent recovery options. Without Electricity, this Pokémon's only weakness is Grass-type moves, which it can cover with Ice-type moves, though it's less than stellar Special Attack ensures that it is easily checked by them. Having Drizzle as an ability might sound frightening, until you realize that without Rock and Ground-types, Water is only super effective against Fire, and without Thunder, all Rain Dance does is power up Water-type moves and enable abilities such as Swift Swim and Hydration, as this Pokémon does not have access to Hurricane.
