Elizabeth Anka Vajagic - With Hopes Lost

I just got this album and I must say this track is pretty awesome. The song almost instantly begins with an acoustic guitar and Beckie Foon's cello (Beckie Foon is a GY!BE and ASMZ member). The song itself is very slowpaced and quiet, but at certain parts she erupts and sings "Let it go now/ Before your hopes get lost/Let it go now/They'll hate you more" with a very dramatic voice and supported by Efrim's vocals (Efrim is a member of GY!BE and the most dominant singer in ASMZ).

If you enjoy folk than this is another good artist to add to your collection.

Opeth - Reverie/Harlequin Forest

Everybody here already knows these guys, but let me just say that the insane dynamics, Mikael's vocal range, and the ability to switch from crunchy riffs to poignant acoustic interludes and back, without sacrificing an inch of mood and melody, is perfected on here.

Nice Xerces, I've seen you NP Converge, Raein and Orchid before too.

np: Eden Maine - Scene One

Pretty good British hardcore, I've been told they sounded like Converge but I can't really make the connection, but then again what sounds like Converge. Anyway it's nice in its own right, the instruments are very accomplished, but the vocals don't really convince me. Their use of clean vocals is interesting though.

Kelly Osbourne ~ Suburbia

9/10

Wow, this album is a major improvement from her lackluster punk garbage... Very catchy 80s type electro beats. This song is very awesome.

Sparta - Red.Right.Return

Not the best song I've heard from them, but as of this week I've been listening to Sparta a lot and I seriously enjoy listening to them. The vocals aren't too bad and I'm fond of the general feeling in their songs.

Moneen - Accidents Are On Purpose [Switcheroo]

This is a cover of an Alexisonfire song "Accidents". Imo, it's not as good musically, but I do like his haunting voice quite a bit [not as much as Dallas' though]. Good song, good cover...just good.

Boris - Woman on the Screen

First time listening to the album. Pretty loud, it's decent stuff.

Cursive - Some Red Handed Sleight of Hand

Whenever I listen to The Ugly Organ, I find it hard to get past this song... because I would play it a hundred times.

Sigh - Scarlet Dream

this is just an awesome song. apparently they're black metal but i really don't see how it is other then the vocals. it's really experimental the album its on is cool as hell. the instruments range from metal, to classical to almost techno.

Kashmir - Melpomene

This is the song that made me fall in love with this band. It builds up until the climactic refrain at the end. Get this if you like Radiohead.

Flutter girl
killing me with her sunshine
she's so unaware
that she's my Melpomene

Max Richter - Organum

This song is a bit repetitive, but very enjoyable nontheless. The main instruments here are an organ and two different woodwinds.

Across Tundras - Aura Lea, Maid of Golden Hair

Repetitive. You have a simple guitar plucking along to some chanting from what sounds like multiple vocalists (not sure if they layered or not), and a bit of droning in the back. I don't really like it, but it makes for nice background music.

Bloc Party -- "Helicopter"

Still my favorite Bloc Party track to date... though Banquet is up there. Extremely hyper song, nonsensical lyrics... but definitely a must-listen.

Bloc Party -- "Helicopter"

Wow, I haven't heard that song in years. I had it on my old computer in college but never downloaded it on the one I have now. Thanks for reminding me.

The Flaming Lips - Fight Test

A little bit on the poppy side for me.

5.5/10

Iron Maiden - Paschendale

Builds up in the first half then goes all out for the final half, climaxing on the final chorus before going out as quietly as it started. A true epic with beautifully-written lyrics.
