Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Sleep

Words can't describe this, so I'll just be completely biased and say it's awesome. Please consult DM's avatar and custom member title for further information.

Rage Against The Machine - People Of The Sun

This is a really cool band, they combine sweet guitar riffs and bass lines with powerful lyrics. One of my favorite songs by them too, albeit a bit short.

The Gloria Record - Ascension Dream

This is where Chris and Jeremy went after Mineral broke up. Definitely a step down from their former band, but TGR is great in its own way, trading the heavily distorted guitars for a spacier, quieter sound. This song is a piano-driven tune, no percussion. I bet Pax would like this album a lot.

8/10

paramore - misery buisness

I never realised how hot the girl from paramore was until I saw this video.
...oh yeah, and the song's good too.

10/10

Interpol - Pioneer To The Falls

Very satisfying opening from Interpol's new album. This is my first listen and I haven't heard the rest...but this song is great. It's definitely less Antics and more Turn on the Bright Lights, and I hope that continues.

8.5/10

The Kooks - She Moves In Her Own Way

On the second playthrough of the album. This song is catchy but nothing here really interests me. Solid but not my thing. Still...

7/10

Sonata Arctica - Replica

This is such an excellent tune. Building up from a soft acoustic intro into a full-fledged chorus with some excellent vocals from Tony Kakko, it is just awesome all the way.

10/10

(Enigma)-Push the Limits(ATI

First half was euphoric with my eyes closed. Felt like the world was ending, or something like that.

Apparently there's other versions that aren't quite the same...

Forward, Russia! - Twelve

I don't like the vocals but for indie rock this is pretty sweet. Mainly the guitars turn me on.

7/10

Cursive - The Game of Who Needs Who the Most

When I saw these guys live a couple months ago, they played this song and stretched out the little 4/3 intro into about 3 minutes of beautiful saxophone/trumpet jazzy jamming, and then did it again right in the middle. This song was already a 10/10, and that just made it even impossibly better.

10/10

Neutral Milk Hotel - Communist Daughter

This is a nice little song, good use of horns and acoustic guitar as is Neutral Milk Hotel fashion, and the lyrics are as usual great.

The communist daughter
Standing on the sea-weed water
Semen stains the mountain tops
Semen stains the mountain tops

The way Jeff Mangum mutters this out so beautifully is, uh, beautiful! God, I love the lyrics for this album.

8/10

Set Fire to Flames - Love Song for 15 Ontario (w/ Singing Police Car)

One of the few tracks in this album that isn't filled with noise collages from tape recordings of the outside world. There's a story behind this track: part of this album (Sings Reign Rebuilder) was recorded in a condemn house called 15 Ontario, so this is basically a thank you song. The police car at the end is purely unintentional and adds a great touch to the song.

Sonically the track is very mellow featuring a guitar played in a slow pace, a violin and some ambient structures.

Dead Can Dance - The Host of Seraphim

This is such a beautiful, melodic, sad song. Gerrard's vocals carry it all the way through, and the (I think it's a violin, but Pax may correct me on this) background instruments are so conducive to the atmosphere.

10/10 definitely

I remember reading about that album about a month ago. It was actually the whole album, and I think that's such a cool concept for music.

I've been all over at work so far, haven't had time to put a CD on yet.

Slint - Nosferatu Man

It's the first time that I've listened to a Slint song, and its good. The guitar work and vocals go well, but sometimes its hard to hear the vocals over the instrumentation.

8/10

Modest Mouse - Sytrofoam Boots/It's All Nice On Ice, Alright

This song only recently started getting to me, and I realize now they couldn't have chosen a better song to conclude this amazing album. A dark, folk-ish song for the most part, with a racing outro. Another great showcase for Isaac Brock's fantastic songwriting.

"Well all is not well but I'm told that it'll all be quite nice, we'll be drowned in boots like mafia but our feet will float like Christ well I'll be damned, they were right."

10/10

Filter - Hey Man Nice Shot

I didn't know about Filter until I wiki'd Army Of Anyone, and I chose a random song to start listening to. This was it. The guitar works wonders here.

9.5/10

10/10 definitely

I'm pretty sure the track is all organ. It just gets a little higher from the middle, which might resemble the pitch of a violin.

Enya - The Memory of Trees

Pretty much one of my favaourite instrumentals. As usual it features a variety of instruments such as bells, a piano, a harpsichord, among others. However, these don't provide the main melody of the track, instead multiple layers of different chanting Enyas do. I especially adore 2:40-3:00.

Helicon Blue - And The Words Come Easily

Dallas Green's (Alexisonfire, City and Colour) band before joining Alexisonfire. This song is purely instrumental, and the first off their only album, which I can only assume is called "Discography", though I'm not 100% sure. I can't find a lot out about the band, since they have long since split up. This song reminds me alot of sixtyfivedaysofstatic since it has an industrial, experimental feel to it. I'm currently downloading the rest of the "album" off Soulseeker, and intend to listen to it all!

This song: 7/10, would like to hear some of Dallas' voice from his earlier projects, just to see how he's matured as a singer/songwriter.
