Simon & Garfunkel - The Boxer

This is so awesome. Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel's vocal harmonising is so great, and the acoustic guitar is so great. The lyrics are insanely good as well, and the lie la lie bits are so great, with a drum going "bam" at the end.

A well deserved 10/10

Filter - Hey Man Nice Shot

I didn't know about Filter until I wiki'd Army Of Anyone, and I chose a random song to start listening to. This was it. The guitar works wonders here.

9.5/10

That was their first single off their first album Short Bus. I had it back in the days of cassette, it was a classic. Then their second album sucked balls for the most part and the guy in the band acted like a complete douchebag to everyone.

The Cure - Lullaby

I love this song, it's just a plucky little tune with nice string arrangments based around the two chord progression.

9/10

Incubus - You Will Be A Hot Dancer

Incubus' first track from "Fungus Amongus", and an awesome track as well, the bass and drums are a great initializer for the song, and the bass that carries throughout the song is just awesome. I like this version much more than the one from their second album "Enjoy Incubus".

9/10

Helicon Blue - Greater Victory

Second to last song off the album I just downloaded. The intro to this is really raw and really has something about it. Dallas' singing has been phenomenal throughout the album, and this just tops off a great performance put down by him. You can really tell he was destined for bigger things after listening to this album.

I think I have a new favourite song - everyone should listen to this.

10/10

Metallica - Nothing Else Matters

Best Metallica song probably, slow and with a lot of emotion, especially the guitar solo

9/10

Eluvium - Show Us Our Homes

First time listening through the album. Great ambience, I'm liking it a lot so far.

Broken Social Scene - Anthems For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl

First BSS song I ever heard, and is what I consider their best song. There really is nothing like this song, and it's uniqueness makes it a great song. Incredible vocals along with great use of instruments makes up a pretty much perfect song.

^love the repeated use of the word "song"

nirvana - drain you
good stuff. I'm listening the entire "nevermind" album.

Eric Clapton - Tears In Heaven

The single-most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard. The song is even more beautiful when you know why it was made. I love the calmness and the peaceful guitar. I think I first heard this when I was younger and my dad told me that he'd introduce me with some good music. I thank him for that.

10/10

Leonard Cohen - One of Us Cannot Be Wrong

Leonard Cohen makes me proud to say I'm Canadian. YES he is a better lyricist than Bob Dylan (my opinion) even though his songs don't vary as much. They're all generally depressed...and many, like this one, are unbearably beautiful. If his lyrics and tired voice dont get you, the last minute of this song will...it fades out as he yelps the vocal melody in a very stressed tone and it's nothing short of sweet and sour.
WARNING: LEONARD COHEN'S MUSIC CAN TURN YOUR HAPPY SUNSHINEY DAY TO A RAINY PILE OF SHIT AND YOU WILL LIKE IT

9.5/10

Vas - Moksha

First time I'm listening to this track and I'm enjoying it. Instead of relying on Azam Ali's eastern chants like the songs prior to this one do, it's driven by various types of percussion.

If you're into ethnic fusion then you should try Vas.

Stellastarr -- "Moongirl"

A strangely proggish track from a band that would otherwise be classified as mainstream/emo rock. Trippy, initially ethereal lyrics start halfway into the song, which eventually gives way to an outburst of emotion. In my opinion, a definite must-listen.

9.3/10 -- it doesn't get much better, especially from an otherwise lackluster band.

Hum - Apollo

The quiet song on Downward is Heavenward. It's sandwiched by two heavy songs that happen to be the 2 best on the album, and having this little gem sitting in the middle is just so decidedly... perfect. The lyrics, while Hum's are usually very obscure, tell the story of being away from a loved one and how they long for your presence even when they can't have it.

9.7/10

Eluvium - Show Us Our Homes

First time listening through the album. Great ambience, I'm liking it a lot so far.
Awesome, knew you would like it.

Loss of a Child - Feelings, Falling and Farmers

Most people who listen to this really love it and refer to it, along with myself, as some of the best post-rock there is. It reminds me of another post-rock band, The American Dollar, except it just seems even more compelling than TAD (is a theamericandream). Beautiful music throughout the album Caught and Lost, but this is one of my favorite tracks.

Listened to it for the first time yesterday, enjoyed it. Definitely need to give it another listen.

A Silver Mt. Zion - 13 Angles Standing Guard 'Round the Side of Your Bed

I'm so glad all the GY!BE people had side projects, because they're each kinda replacing GY!BE in their own right while it's sidelined. This is a strange little ditty, but I like it.

8/10

A Silver Mt. Zion - For Wanda

Hands down, my favourite ASMZ song. Like most songs I really enjoy, it's solely driven by a piano and a violin. It's very slowpaced and the melody is very sad. Sometimes you can hear people crying in the background.

There's a reason for this though. While as GY!BE were on tour, Efrim's dog, Wanda, died. You can figure out the rest.

Nirvana - Come As You Are

Meh, everyone knows this song, but it's fact that it's a great song. I picked Nirvana up just recently, because I didn't want to bother with it before. I'm glad I did, because I actually enjoy most of their songs.

9/10

I'm liking this more descriptive now playing thread...I'm actually making a list of songs to d/l from here based on descriptions.

Wolf Parade - I'll Believe in Anything

One of the few songs I've heard from Wolf Parade...I'm really into this one and I'm considering their album because of it. Simple melody carries throughout with expressive vocals giving the impression of pleaing to a lover. Great song.

8.5/10

Built to Spill - Nowhere Nothin' Fuckup

I felt like going for some old school BTS this morning. This is still one of my favorite songs from them. In America / every puddle's a gasoline rainbow

9/10

Chicago - Saturday in the Park

This is classic Chicago, with the various instruments that you don't usually find in most songs, like trombones. It provides an interesting sound that I don't often hear in most songs that I listen too.

9/10

The Pillows -- "Come Down"

go go J-Pop! Really, though, said Pillows are a pretty good band. One of their best tracks; energetic, but nice and loud. Too short, though.
