The Bled - I Never Met Another Met Another Gemini - Found in the Flood

Sort of a sequel to the song "Dale Earnhardt’s Seatbelt" on the same album, which is about how we love death in today's world and it's also kind of about losing someone you love in a car crash. The deeper meaning seems to be how self destructive Americans are today.

"I Never Met Another Gemini" takes place directly after "Dale Earnhardt’s Seatbelt" and it's about a car crash victim waking up in the hospital and discovering his wife/girlfriend is dead and having a complete mental breakdown thanks to it.

A beautiful song, and an example for all other screamo bands to live up to.

johnny cash- one piece at a time

even if you are not into johnny cash and his genre of music, you will like this song because it's very humorous!!!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Gold Lion

Not a very complex song lyrically or musically (most of the song is driven by a steady drum beat and acoustic strumming), but Gold Lion is one of my favorite YYY songs. The song just builds and builds until the final bridge when the electric guitar kicks in at full gain, the drummer drives with the crash cymbal, and Karen O. screams like a siren until the end of the track.

Rachel's - Lloyd's Register

Along with A Silver Mt. Zion's For Wanda, this is one of the saddest instrumentals I know. Following this album's (The Sea and the Bells) example, this whole track is driven by a piano and a cello. Melodically, it's based on the same patern. With each repetition, slight changes occur, percussion is added and it gets slightly louder. This happens until halfway through, when the percussion takes the main role, followed by a trumpet or similar and a violin. A bit before the sixth minute, the song goes quiet again and adopts a more ambient sound. Finally, by the eighth minute, the patern restarts, again, with a few changes: a violin is adopted and the piano goes to the background.

I was as descriptive as I can be, as this IS one of my favourite Rachel's, if not my favourite, and Rachel's is one of my favourite bands.

!!! - Shit Scheisse Merde (Pt. 2)

I really don't know what to say about this song, if you like mixtures of indie, rap and punk, I highly recommend this band. This song offers more electronica than the first part, first part, like I've said is vocals, this part is instrumental.

10/!!!

!!! - The King's Weed

Very monotonous looping throughout the song, but it's pretty awesome. 1:19 length, no lyrics at all, yet I like it, the looping continues on the song that follows.

7.5/!!!

The Shins - So Says I

Basically I'm getting myself pupmed up for seeing these guys live in a week or so.

This particular song has one part to it that I love. For anyone who's heard it, the oo ooo oo ooo oo. Definately can't be put into words but its fantastic.

Modest Mouse - Make Everyone Happy/Mechanical Birds

Starts off reeeeeaaallllly slow and slured and eventually picks up with a bass driven instrumental...typical Modest Mouse format. Practically every song on this album drags on...it works surprisingly well though, and I've come to realize it's the concept of the album.

System Of A Down - ATWA - Toxicity

A lazy song - it starts with a mellow beat and suddenly slams into a big rage. Very typical of System Of A Down but I love it. The lyrics seem to be about falling behind the curve and dying because of it.

Fireside - Not In My Palace

I just got this CD off Amazon for 99 cents. I have a history with this band, but I hadn't heard this song before last week... and it's amazing.

9.5/10

Also, there are WAYYY too many 10/10s in this thread. Basically, a 10/10 means the song is utterly flawless. I highly doubt there are so many flawless songs out there.

:heart::doom::cloud::heart:

no man that's TOMORROW night...

wait what thread is this again? Shit sorry...

Kristofer Astrom - The Wild

This is the lead singer from Fireside. His solo stuff is awesome, almost 100% acoustic and right up my alley.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - The Mercy Seat

10/10

I wish I could write this good. I always say Iggy Pop is god, well Nick Cave would have to be satan. I mean that in a good way.

Van Halen - Jamie's Cryin'

8/10

I would guess most people have heard this song. Very catchy chorus, and the guitar fits nicely with the song.

Slint - King's Approach

Instrumental Slint, starts off very nicely and has a surprisingly fast beat throughout. Clocking in at 10 minutes, it's a good song but drags on for a while at some parts.

Whoa, the NP thread now has actual content? Man, see what happens when you only check the boards every month or two?

Leonard Cohen - Dress Rehearsal Rag

Songs of Love and Hate is probably my favorite Cohen album, and this is probably tied with "Sing Another Song, Boys" as my favorite song on it - which is saying something, as this is the album with powerhouses like "Famous Blue Raincoat", "Avalanche", and "Joan of Arc". This is Cohen the writer, rather than Cohen the mood singer, when his albums were still wonderfully raw and poetic and crazy and personal. Half the shit he's singing about you know only means anything to him, because it's so full of personal references, but somehow that makes the songs even more powerful.

Mastodon - Megalodon

Honestly, this song is non stop fun. One of my favorite Mastodon tracks. It keeps you excited the entire time. Another great track of an amazing album.

Bright Eyes - Four Winds

Bright Eyes never really appealed to me, in fact I downright disliked them. But I got a copy of Cassadaga from a friend and decided to give it a listen. Its not too bad and may have softened my dislike for them, but still not one of my favourites.
