Regigigas fate is so cruel. No Rest, no slack off, no recovery period!
Regigigas definetely needs a lot of support to be put to good use, but there's always a chance.

its like gameshark said "heys lets make the WORST possible pokemon with 670 BST"

its pretty sad that its best set is an annoyer set when it has "base 150" attack

I used Regigigas a lot a while back and it was great. It didn't have to rely on the glitch (though it happened sometimes : ) ). It can still sweep in the current metagame about the same as it used to. Just support it with screens and possibly outside paralysis help and have something to save it from Status / Fighting attacks (Altaria, Crotomb) and it will surprise you.

Has anyone tried out Regigigas with DS? It seems like with the screens, it would be really easy to stall out the SS turns.

There would be no use in spending five turns waiting out Slow Start when you could be using those five turns to do so much more with another Pokemon. You could set up potentially anything else much faster. In the end, whatever you set up will be more powerful than max Attack Regigigas.

Yeah, Regigigas is just a fun pokemon to use. Regigigas under a sub is quite hard to break, knocking down a few turns of Slow Start. From there, I just spam Thunder Wave/Confuse Ray until Slow Start wears off and then spam Return. Of course, I make sure ghosts are gone first. He's a lot of fun to use, and can even sweep unprepared teams. Of course, Stellar is right, and there are much better things you could do with those turns, but I suggest anyone who's tired of using the same old things to give it a try.

I used to love using Regigigas, there are so many better things to set up but so many teams are prepared for those things.
Still im not going to argue Gigas on viability, he is just fun.
I used to run Twave, confuse ray, Heatbutt, Iron head (or Zen Headbutt/rock slide) to get a bit of paraflinchfusion going on. Before you know it the turns are gone and you've gones from a gimmicky annoyer set to a potential sweep. That was some of the most fun i have had on the ladder.

Personally, I used Umbreon to pass Mean Look, then gave him a set of Drain Punch, Iron Head, Psych Up, and Swagger, full EVs in speed an attack. After all, there's no point in trying to stall out those turns if you're not going to pull a sweep afterward.

I'm hoping there's another Pokemon capable of passing Mean Look that isn't weak to Fighting, since Hitmontop loves to come right in and fuck up my strategy.

Why would you use Drain Punch over Brick Break? Sure, it recovers HP, but in the first five turns, you'll be stalling, and the 8 PP isn't really enough for a staller. Not to mention that Brick Break has more BP.

At least it nets you a way of recovering HP other than Leftovers.

I think everybody is thinking about Regigigas in the wrong way. Think of him as a Pokemon with 110/110/110 defenses. Don't even think about his ability, and don't try to stall out the 5 turns. If you do, it's a nice added bonus, and you basically get to use an Uber in UU, but don't try to have Regigigas 'get its act together', as you'll almost always fail. However, 110/110/110 defenses are quite decent for a defensive Pokemon (think a slightly less than Cresselia, which is good, considering Cresselia was broken).

unfortunatly it has the defenses but no recovery at all (outside Drain punch), even if it had Rest then im sure it would be used for that purpose.

And it has very few support moves outside of things like Twave, Confuse ray and then you find yourself running an annoyer set anyways.
Don't get it wrong, regigigas' bulk is not wasted on the annoyer set, the fact that it can afford for one attack to get through is priceless.

This is definetely one of the best reasons why I like UU subforum.

1. We have a general UU topic that is commonly posted in.
2. We have a diverse cast of users here. (OU is fine too, but I just like the UU players more...)
3. We can have an actual discussion about an underrated pokemon and not get laughed off.

UU 4 lyfe.

Anywho, I've got a question. I'm trying to make a new team incorparating Mixachu (mixed Raichu) should I even bother? Or do I risk getting outclassed by Electbuzz who admitadly has better stats at the cost of using Surf.

It depends on the moveset you're intending to use for your Raichu really. As you pointed our yourself, Electabuzz actually beats Raichu in 5 of the 6 stats (despite Electabuzz being an NFE), and they have the same ability.

They both have their own share of unique moves, so just make an informed decision (or tell us your Raichu moveset, so we can help you decide if it's outclassed). It would be quite embarrassing if someone used a Raichu that was 100% outclassed by Electabuzz though (this has happened on rare occasions, I think some people, to save time, only consider fully evolved Pokemon, Chansey and Magneton for their teams).

Raichu's merits:
~Slightly higher attack stat for a mix set
~Access to surf(along with Hp ice gives him good coverage)
~Can possibly run encore or a powerful Volt Tackle

Electbuzz merits:
~Cross Chop>Focus Punch
~Faster and better stats overall

The Raichu set I am currently employing consists of:

Raichu
EVs: 164 Atk / 92 SpA /252 Spe
nature: hasty
moveset:
Thunderbolt
Surf
Substitute
Focus Punch

The attack EV's guarantee the OHKO on both Chancey and Clefable.

Drain Punch gives it some staying power, as I'm running no defensive EVs whatsoever (though I'm considering running some HP). With max speed, it has enough to outpace the likes of Umbreon and stall with Iron Head and Swagger until it can really do some damage.

The problem is that its defensive typing sucks, it can't recover, and it doesn't do anything particularly useful before it dies. If you want to stand a decent chance of doing anything with it at all, you're going to have to play around with Slow Start so that it can use that massive attack power.

I've used it before, and even in an attempt to set up a team around it, it has no way of getting past its complete lack of defenses and the ridiculous amount of priority in the tier. Plus, it can't run Life Orb, so you're really just using a cute and inferior version of Raikou or even Raichu.

Raichu to "check" Moltres
you mean revenge kill right

THANK YOU. God it's so hard for people to get this.

And yep at the second part. If Pikachu had 120 base speed and defenses that are... USABLE, then we would be talking but as it stands, it's just not cutting it.
