Max/Max Impish Donphan simply can't do enough damage to Spinblockers.
If you pair it with the right pokemon this doesn't matter. It's still doing pretty good damage to Spiritomb, enough to beat it with SR and some previous damage. Assurance easily OHKOes Mismagius and Rotom when it's hitting after SR or LO damage. I pair it with Tauros, so I can hit Mismagius with Assurance while it Nasty Plots, switch to Tauros on the Shadow Ball (they don't often Thunderbolt when Assurance would finish them off if they overpredict) and then Pursuit. Rotom takes more care, as you have to check for Will-o-wisp first. Still, you can reap the benefits of Max/Max Donphan (I don't run Max/Max but close) without necessarily losing to Spin Blockers. The extra bulk can definitely help.
I also wanted to give a shoutout about a mini-tournament coming up - it's on the CAP server. The main reason is that there's a UU component, where two CAPmons will be added to UU (Fidgit and Cyclohm). The thing is, Fidgit is a ridiculously good Spiker, which will be interesting because the lack of good Spikes users is one of the defining traits of the recent metagame. Cyclohm, with it's Electric/Dragon typing and Hippowdon-like stats will be an impediment to the common Spikes-stack sweepers (Moltres Scyther Swellow), however. It's sure to be an interesting tournament though, and I think both of the CAP additions are very relevant to things that we discuss commonly here. You have to do the entire tournament to take part in the UU section, though, afaik.
