Because... Xatu sucks?

It's frail, it's not really THAT fast, not really powerful it still dies to Spiritomb like pretty much every Psychic poke out there.
I tried a wtf set once: Reflect/Calm Mind/Psychic/Roost with max HP/def and it was the best i could do.

Of course, that was long ago... when i just sucked. At least sucked more than today.

How exactly is Xatu is going to hurt it...? And you still lose to Tomb, it can CM on you, use Shadow Sneak/Faint Attack.

Yeah, and if it carries Heat Wave it is completely walled by Houndoom - really bad considering its surge in usage.

The one I'm using is Psychic/Heatwave/Calm Mind/Rest because I don't care about Houndoom and like to beat Chansey. If you see a houndoom just pass a calm mind to milotic/NP croak/ninetales/[insert one of many pokemon that beat houndoom after a calm mind]. Double edit: I just realized that my first sentence was stupid so I removed it.

And don't forget U-turn, making it the best lure for Spiritomb and Registeel there is besides Espeon with BP.
Oh and it's also one of the best switches into Hitmonlee because of the 4x CC resistance and the speed.

going back to the Venu/Milo counters, Porygon 2 does a decent job at taking on both. it has great bulk and access to BoltBeam but it struggles to hit defensive Venu hard enough to make any progress. I guess you can hope for Freeze/crits because Venu can't do much back. a simple Recover/BoltBeam/Twave set works fine against MiloSaur, and P2 can even use Magic Coat to sleep Venusaur if you're feeling troll-y.

I recall looking up Xatu a few weeks ago and noticing "hey it's not as fast or strong as UU psychics and it's sr weak. it doesn't even have good sp. def lol." I'm looking at its movepool right now and it's kind of lol too...no defenses for Wish, Psycho Shift is a gimmick, and I suppose it can CM Pass, but Espeon is the better choice if that's what you're going for. Other than that, it's mostly the same stuff as any other UU Psychic. It was way cool back in GSC, but now I don't see any reason to use it. :/

Magmortar is great at taking apart the Venu-Milo core. Also good ole Blaziken is ready for the job too. (The SD in particular)

Also, does anyone else miss Blaziken? Its so rare now. Back in the day everyone ran one.

Stall just isn't an issue anymore as (almost) no one runs it, and it seems people no longer have abnormal amounts of problems breaking through Milotic. Added to that, Ken doesn't outspeed Saur; doesn't get recovery like Moltres and Arcanine and is much harder to switch in.

Basically any good Fire Solarbeamer with a recovery move (huh... two) can get through both.
And it's nice when Moltres/Arcanine gets in on Venusaur and you use Sunny Day while Milotic comes in.
Not nice when Houndoom comes in though.

The problem with offensive checks to Venu/Milo is that they have trouble switching in. Moltres/K9/Mortar don't like eating Sludge Bombs and Manectric takes 54.4% - 64.4% from 0 Sp. Atk. Milo. I believe that Roflkip was making a list of hard counters to Venu and Milo, meaning they can switch in with (relative) impunity and beat both one on one, not just threaten a KO to both.

Also, SubCMing bulky Psychics like Uxie, Mesprit, and Grumpig (not Xatu) can start setting up on Milo and immediately threaten Venu with Psychic or Ice Beam.

Okay, I love Golbat now, it is probably my new favourite NFE. Good speed, acceptable Attack, good movepool, excellent resistances and passable defenses make it a really cool attacker. It can pretty much use the same moveset Crobat did and do quite a bit of damage (Brave Bat). Oh, and it is one of few Pokemon that resist both of Venusaur's STAB and isn't setup fodder (eg Registeel). I started off using NP Golbat, but Brave Bat is certainly the better one (NP is still usable).

Here's your great Venusaur check. If you switch on something other than Sleep Powder, Venusaur is going to switch out or die. Jolly LO Brave Bird also has a good chance of 2HKOing Milotic after SR too.

Oh, on the topic of NFEs, NP Monferno completely destroys the VenuMiloSteel + Chansey core. Come in, force something out (Like Chansey), grab an NP and kill. Milotic dies to +2 Grass Knot, Chansey to Close Combat and Fire Blast everything else.

Milotic dies to +2 Grass Knot, Chansey to Close Combat and Fire Blast everything else.

+2 Grass Knot does like 70% to Milo.. from my experiences. If it ~OHKO's then I guess GK was glitched.

Yeah,I believe GK is glitched on Shoddy an does slightly less than normal. But it does 84.5% - 99.7% to Milotic normally anyways, so not guaranteed either way.

Grass Knot doesn't take Life Orb into account on Shoddy, which is a shame and kind of ruins Monferno. However, a +2 Focus Blast probably does similar amounts of damage?

SD Toxicroak with EQ and a Lum berry seems like it would be the best choice since it beats all non gimmick Milotic (HP Psychic wat) and all Venasuar.

Why do you guys even use Shoddy when Pokemon Online has much less bugs, and is actively being worked on? Much more ascetically pleasing and many more interface options. (Shows your boosts in your stats and your hidden power type). Especially since there is likely to be no suspects this round.

Because I have good memory, love to abuse them bugs and don't care about eye candies. Oh and I like to battle people that know what they're doing (though that doesn't happen much often in the UU ladder).

I absolutely love abusing Jumpluff. I've found Subseed with Encore and Sleep Powder really effective after Spikes/Stealth Rock is set up. You can't imagine how many people ragequit because of this...

The reason people don't use it that often is because Subseed Sceptile is often superior for the job in that it can actually do something to the grass types that would wall Jumpluff using hidden power ice and its decent special attack stat.

Scarf Rampardos is way better if you're considering Spikes abuse. It does so much damage with Head Smash 2KOing just about everything (and OHKOing even Milotic after Spikes and SR). Donphan is like the only safe switchin. Actually, PK Gaming and I've been abusing it due to the noticeable decrease in Torterra, Donphan, and Rhyperior usage. It's pretty good.

but jumpluff has an esier time setting up with sleep powder and encore. As Thund would put it, encore is the best move ever. Imagine though, a team with spikes/rocks, sceptile and jumpluff...ragequit. But really, without taunt somewhere on your team, jumpluff and sceptile will slowly stall your team to death and there won't be a thing you can do about it.
