NU Discussion Thread (Mark II)

I believe Armaldo should go to UU, I don't see any reason for it to be NU, it is a vicious physical sweeper with base 125 attack, and with STAB on Bug and Rock attacks, as well as learning Earthquake and Aqua Tail for coverage. Oh the presence of Rhyperior in UU? Armaldo isn't outclassed. Armaldo actually can take a Grass and Water attack without dying, and is 5 base points faster in the speed department, giving Rock Polish sets a bit more potential. And Armaldo also has a STABbed X-Scissor to combat bulky Grass types like Tangrowth and Leafeon, while Rhyperior has Megahorn with the same base power, it's shaky 85% accuracy as well as his 4x weakness to Grass compared to Armaldo's neutrality gives Armaldo an advantage.

Armaldo does lose out by having a Stealth Rock weakness, lower attack and No STAB on Earthquake, but really, who needs STAB on Earthquake when it comes to using it on Fire types, even without STAB, most Fire types like Blaziken, Houndoom, Typhlosion, Flareon (although rare) are OHKOed STAB or not, and Armaldo only takes neutral damage from their standard movesets while Rhyperior has to worry about Hidden Power Grass, Superpower etc. although Steels are a problem with their high defense.

Armaldo also has access to Rapid Spin and Knock Off, something Rhyperior does not have to support his team, so in conclusion, Armaldo should be UU because there isn't any reason for it to be in NU, Armaldo is a very versatile Pokemon with a lot potential in the UU environment.

P.S: This isn't important, but now that I think of it, Armaldo has base 70 Special Attack and base 45 Speed, Armaldo would be much better off if they switched places >_>
NU is to UU like UU is to OU: Pokemon don't just move up and change tiers because we choose to, but rather because people use them in the tier above (aka people use it in OU or UU).

Lol all the more reason why people should start to use sneasel. Seriously, faster than espeon and slamming that trapinch with icepunch is pretty badass. If only it were bulkier...

Slamming Trapinch with Ice Punch isn't exactly the best reason to use Sneasel. But, Sneasel is a great revenge killer with the lack of priority.

I prefer Sneasel for a CounterSash anti-lead, with Inner Focus even PriorityCham can't keep it from Countering on the first turn, its a valuable asset to any team. That being said, its use as a revenge killer should also be warranted. (Also, Trapinch has Quick Attack and base 100 Attack, so it can get around Ice Punch, I assume you meant to type Ice Shard.)

Sneasel is a good revenge-killer and it's immune to Psychic which is incredible atm with Espeon running riot. It competes a lot with Skuntank though, which sucks.

The Anti-Lead set, however,, is very good. I HATE Counter leads almost enough to start using one.

Sneasels iceshard and skuntanks suckerpunch have the same power against trapinch and as shown above, it doesent ko. Anyway heres a max attack, adament trapinchs quick atack vs a 6hp/0 jolly sneasel

25.9% - 30.7%

Nothing to be afraid of there!

And considering Trapinch needs max/max Impish to survive the attack well enough, Quick Attack will do even less and so Earthquake or Rock Slide would be the way to go in that scenario.

4 Atk Impish LO Trapinch Earthquake vs 4/0 Sneasel: (82.14% - 96.83%)
As above but Rock Slide: (82.54% - 97.62%)

Idk if Trapinch should be running Rock Slide or Crunch though.

Sub Magneton doesn't trap Skuntank, but if your Skuntank switches out I can easily kill another one of your pokes and I can keep coming in on your Tank. Therefore, especially if you haven't seen my threat which is countered by Skuntank, it seems pretty advantageous for you to Explode. Magneton also adds a lot of other things to a team - a good switch-in for Miltank, good resistances etc.

By the way, guys, check out the RMT in my sig. Best NU team I've (N)ever used.

I never meant to say you should use trapinch (or diglett), I just said that skuntank stops drifblim, and without skuntank drifblim sweeps.

lol, and we spent all this time arguing over that? I am definitely building a team around Driffy though. Good synergy with Magneton, incidentally, since it resists all of Blim's weaknesses and the blimp can take Ground and Fighting attacks.
