Scyther @ Eviolite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 240 HP / 16 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wing Attack
- Swords Dance
- U-turn
- Roost

Rotom @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 224 HP / 76 Def / 208 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hex
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
Update the thread title nerds. Anyways, one combo that I enjoy using right now is Bulky Scyther and Sitrus berry Rotom. The two do a good job of picking off each others counters with Rotom being able to wear down things like Rhydon and Steelix while Scyther is able to force out dark types that try to switch into Rotom. Rather standard spread on Scyther to give it as many set up opportunities as possible. Rotom is running enough speed for Jolly Sawk. From a defensive standpoint, this core has a lot of utility in being able to keep dangerous wallbreakers like Sawk, Tauros, and Sceptile from causing too much trouble.

samurott.gif

Samurott @ Life Orb
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Aqua Jet

AOA Samurott is a nice partner for Wisp-Hex Rotom because Rotom can lure in and beat Lanturn, leaving the opposing team weak to Samu. Samurott also appreciates the momentum that Rotom provides with Volt Switches. On the other hand, Rotom appreciates Samurott's ability to break through or weaken bulky fires and special tanks such as Magmortar and Hariyama, who would otherwise give Rotom troubles. Overall, these two form a very potent offensive core that give a lot of common team archetypes in this meta troubles.

Sawk (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
- Filler

works very well with WispHex Rotom as it appreciates things like Steelix, Garbodor, Weezing etc being weakened so it can clean late-game.
it revenges Pyroar which is a great check to WispHex Rotom, as well as outspeed other annoying things like Scyther, which endlessly u-turns out on your Rotom for free.

hariyama.png

BMI > 45 (Hariyama) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 240 SpD / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Fake Out
- Bullet Punch

As wisphex Rotom (hopefully) takes care of the physical mons in the tier, all Yama has to do is to clean out dark types, ghost types and magmortars/pyroars (and other normal type mons hex wont touch)! There is nothing this duo cannot achieve!!!

  • Garbodor @ Rocky Helmet
  • Ability: Aftermath
  • EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 Spe
  • Bold Nature
  • - Gunk Shot
  • - Drain Punch
  • - Spikes
  • - Toxic Spikes
So Garbodor is a cool partner for Hex Rotom for many resons. Garbodor is able to set Toxic Spikes, allowing Rotom to more easily spam Hex. It sets Spikes and T-Spikes which allow it to wear down common switch-ins like Lanturn, Magmortar, Pyroar, and Mega Audino, especially in conjunction with Volt Switch momentum. It checks Mega Audino fairly well in particular, one of Rotom's most troublesome answers, as well as obnoxious mons like Sceptile for Rotom. Rotom does fairly well against the Pokemon that cause issues for Garbodor as well, such as Psychics, bulky Ground and/or Rock types, and of course Steelix. Also gives more options dealing with something like CB Sawk beause it has to pick between clicking Knock Off or Zen/EQ.

throh.gif

Throh (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Knock Off/Bulk Up
- Circle Throw
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Throh is a really nice partner for rotom since it checks dark/ghost types that threaten you, rotom can check flyings and do a good chunk to psychics to help. Throh also works as a nice special sponge since rotom tends to force in magmortars and offensive grass types. They work well on a hazard stack team where rotom spinblocks and throh phases.

lanturn.gif

Lanturn @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 40 HP / 156 Def / 204 SpD / 108 Spe
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Volt Switch
- Heal Bell
- Toxic

Lanturn is a really cool partner for Rotom-N. Rotom covers Lanturn's ground weakness well with levitate, and the combination of a slower and faster volt switcher can provide many opportunities to gain momentum. Toxic also allows rotom to go straight for hex on a poisoned foe, giving rotom more freedom to exert damage. A fire and water resist is always good on a team too, epecially since rotom isn't that bulky. I'd probably just use the set as Winter's posted with spell tag with Lanturn.

We're going to be moving on to the voting stage now. Thanks you guys for bringing in another great week for the thread!

This round you can choose from lolbro's M Audino, Rapture.'s Scyther, Aurosis' Samurott, shadestep's Sawk, Plaessynplaeae's Hariyama, Blaziken.'s Garbodor, TTFTW's Throh, or GyRro's Lanturn!

Voting will end Monday, the 11th. Also, NV has returned from his hiatus so everyone be sure to welcome him back! He will return as your host starting next week. Thank you so much to NV and to everyone who contributed for having me as your interim host!

It was a close one this week, but Rapture. secured the win by 1 vote so congratulations to him! :) With that he also made HoF status so good job Rapture. and I hope you keep on contributing :)

This week, I wanted to do probably the most prominent mon in NU since it dropped down thanks to the Megas and non-Megas tiering separately. That's right, I am talking about that damn grass sneak.

sceptile.gif

Sceptile @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Giga Drain
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice] / Rock Slide

Submissions end on Friday. Have fun :)

Leave A Trace (Mesprit) @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Psychic
- U-turn
- Healing Wish

Mesprit is an excellent partner to Sceptile thanks to its supportive capabilities. It can eliminate the Poison types that threaten Sceptile with STAB Psychic. Mesprit also provides vital Stealth Rock support, effectvely allowing Sceptile to rack up more KOs. Finally, Mesprit can get Sceptile in safely with a slow U-Turn & provide Healing Wish support, as Sceptile will get worn down by both hazards and Life Orb recoil very quickly.

sawk.gif

Sawk @ Choice Band
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
- Zen Headbutt

Take two of the best offensive mons in the tier and pair them together. It's pretty much a natural fit. Take a look at some of the most common switch ins to Sceptile: Garbodor, Vileplume, Mantine, Xatu, Hariyama, and Magmortar among others. If you look at a list of common switch ins to Sawk, you'll see a few reoccurring names from the other list. The combination of Sawk and Sceptile easily wears down the similar (and not so similar) checks for each other, opening gaping holes as the game progresses. Players loading up against teams carrying this duo are more than likely going to be forced into a plethora of uncomfortable situations due to the tremendous pressure that the core places on common builds.

252 Atk Choice Band Sawk Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 176 Def Xatu: 340-402 (101.7 - 120.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Choice Band Sawk Zen Headbutt vs. 252 HP / 160+ Def Garbodor: 228-270 (62.6 - 74.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Choice Band Sawk Zen Headbutt vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Vileplume: 204-242 (57.7 - 68.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252 Atk Choice Band Sawk Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 228 Def Mantine: 322-380 (96.6 - 114.1%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

252 Atk Choice Band Sawk Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 128 Def Hariyama: 358-423 (83.4 - 98.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (OHKOs 0 Def Hariyama)

252 Atk Choice Band Sawk Close Combat vs. 104 HP / 0 Def Magmortar: 397-468 (125.2 - 147.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

I'll take my rmt partner Shiftry
shiftry.gif

Shiftry @ Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 204 Atk / 52 SpA / 252 Spe
Lonely Nature
- Knock Off
- Extrasensory
- Sucker Punch
- Leaf Storm
So if you saw my rmt and you should you would know that lure shiftry is a great partner with sceptile, being able to whittle sceptile's counters/checks like weezing and vileplume. Good offensive core that breaks a lot of defensive cores.
52 SpA Life Orb Shiftry Extrasensory vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Weezing: 195-231 (58.5 - 69.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery.
52 SpA Life Orb Shiftry Extrasensory vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Vileplume: 159-187 (45 - 52.9%) -- 85.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Black Sludge recovery.

magmortar.gif

Magmortar @ Life Orb
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic
- Earthquake

Life Orb Magmortar is a pretty damn strong wallbreaker and can weaken the bulky Pokémon on the opponent's team while Sceptile deals with the faster ones. Fire Blast wallops generally bulky mons such as Mega Audino and Musharna as well as opposing Grass types such as Vileplume that can deal with Sceptile that lack Hidden Power Ice. Psychic hits Hariyama very hard and stops it from being able to check Sceptile as effectively. Meanwhile, Sceptile deals with the threats that Hidden Power Grass normally deals with, such as Rhydon and Quagsire. Put together the opponent is very unlikely to come out unscathed against these two.

252+ SpA Life Orb Magmortar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Mega Audino: 204-242 (49.7 - 59%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Life Orb Magmortar Psychic vs. 0 HP / 252 SpD Assault Vest Hariyama: 198-234 (46.1 - 54.5%) -- 97.7% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
