Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Throh @ Leftovers
Ability: Guts
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Bulk Up
- Circle Throw
- Rest
- Sleep Talk / Knock Off
Throh makes a great partner for Musharna, as Mushy struggles with Dark-types, which Throh can switch into and set up on. Thunder Wave support from Musharna also helps the core out against offense, and Throh adds a nice special wall to tank some hits with, as well as a nice win condition and phazer with Bulk Up and Circle Throw. Add this core up with some hazards and it can really hurt some teams.
Aurorus is a great partner for Mushy with yellow magic, as it really appreciates being able to outspeed things that it normally wouldn't and decimating them with a Specs Hyper Voice. Mushy can also pivot into fighting types which force Aurorus out, such as Hitmonchan and Hariyama and hit them on their weaker defensive side, with psyshock. In return, Aurorus can break down the mons that annoy Musharna, e.g Steelix, Scyther, Rotom, Claydol, Skuntank and Golurk.
Regirock @ Custap Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave
- Explosion
- Stone Edge
Offensive Regirock is a really cool underused pokemon, and pairs great with Musharna. Musharna provides the much needed fighting check that regi requires, while regi can cast off further yellow magic to aid mushy if it tries to sweep. Explosion can be really great to catch things that threaten Musharna off guard, like skunk etc.
The EV spread hits all the necessary jump points (outspeeding neutral base 70s such as Samurott while netting the 3HKO on MDino with Poison Jab) while the Defense EVs allow Skuntank to live a Close Combat from AV Hariyama after one round of SR damage with the rest dumped into SpD to take special moves better.
Poliwrath and Skuntank complement eachother quite well. Poliwrath threatens out bulky grounds, and punishes switchins with Scald burns and/or Focus Blasts, and Skuntank takes on things like Sceptile, Lilligant, and can get a last-ditch-effort Sucker Punch off vs faster threats.
Chatot @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Keen Eye
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Boomburst
- U-turn
- Heat Wave
- Chatter
Chatot hates being walled by ghosts so pursuit trapping them with skuntank really lets put Chatot a dent in the opposing team every time it gets to come in. Chatter shenanigans are quite funny to pull as well.
Primeape @ Choice Band
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
This core is so good right now. Skuntank traps Ghost types so Primeape can click CC freely. It also provides a great Psychic immunity that allows it to switch in and blow back Psychics for Primeape. Ape's access to U-turn makes this whole process too easy, so you're breaking things down left and right.
