Challenge Nuzlocke Challenge

Status
Not open for further replies.
So, I started my HeartGold Nuzlocke. I'll abandon the story thing 'cause it's way too much work (my respect to anyone who takes the time to write one), so I'll just stick with a quick glance on my team.

I just entered Ilex forest, by the way.

Mint the Croconaw (Sassy) lvl 19
- Bite
- Water cannon
- Rage
- Growl (I think)

He has been awesome so far, soloing the Bellsprout tower and defeating my opponent's starter TWICE. With type weakness. One potion each win. Yeah, he is that awesome. Sassy nature and very good IVs give him awesome bulk, and 39 atk wrecks at this point in the game (total, not base). He also took care of Pidgeotto who almost destroyed my Geodude with a freaking special gust. I called him Mint because it's an awesome name and because I can.

Pablo the Geodude (Hardy) lvl 18
-Rock Throw
-Tackle
-Rock Polish
-Magnitude

He learned Rock Throw from the Exp he got shared from Pidgeotto. I had thought he'd learn it at level 15, so I didn't bother grinding, but as it turns out he was just one level away from it when I challenged the gym leader. I caught him in that dark cave, where I went for kicks and giggles (and because I had failed to find one on that route down from that last city... Dude I'm bad with names, ok?) He solo'd the second gym (take that, scyther) and has done awesome so far. Notice a nice grass weak? Yeah, me too. I called him Pablo because originally I wanted to go for Pebble, but thought it sounded alike and Pablo was cooler. Pablo it was.

Jake the Flaafy (brave) lvl 16
- Tackle
- Thunder Wave
- Thunder Shock
- ??? (not used :P)
He has been doing ok so far... Not useful against grass types either, but knows Thunder Wave which is a life saver. Saved Mint from that evil Bayleef. Oh well. Jake because I can, though the nature sucks. I mean, come ON! Brave? Really? ugh...

That's it so far... I also caught a Jolly caterpie, but then forgot to turn off the DS when I went away so it's not saved... I also forgot it's nickname.

BOX:
HOOTHOOT the Hoothoot (I forgot to name this one) lvl 4
She would help against the grass weak, but Hoothoot just sucks and I also forgot to name it. Oh well.

DEAD:
Jaws the Rattata lvl 7
He died to Bayleaf... for a safe switch to Mint (I'm playing on set). RIP

Notice how I don't have a lot of pokemon? ... Yeah, me too. I always get half a stroke when I see a grass Pokémon, though Mint with his awesome bulk takes care of it, normally. I should really catch more pokémon, I'm so afraid of Whitney (is that even her name...? xD)

Here's my third update.

Currently right after DragonSpiral Tower, and more deaths have happened, but others have come to fill the holes left in the team. The Dark Stone will soon be found, and then the Legend Badge, and the Pokemon League.

Yorkie the Herdier
Lv. 27

Spr_5b_499.png
499.png

Brisingr the Pignite
Lv. 30
Nature: Jolly
Rollout
Strength
Flame Charge
Arm Thrust

Brisingr's positive attitude helped keep Shocker from becoming depressed after Yorkie died to the Scraggy on Route 4. He also took the position of mentor to Maraca, and he was one of my most trusted members. He never succeeded in his dream of becoming a powerful Emboar because of a Herdier that accidentally crushed his skull. R.I.P.

Spr_5b_577.png

Gummy Bear the Solosis
Lv. 30
Nature: Serious
Ability: Magic Card
Psyshock
Light Screen
Endeavor
Recover

Gummy Bear was found outside Lostlorn Forest. He quickly began pulling his weight when he learned Psyshock, and managed to defeat one of the twin Emolgas. His serious personality helped keep Brisingr and the others from becoming depressed with his practical attitude. Gummy Bear later was killed by a wild Liepard when it Pursuited him when I tried to save him from it. R.I.P.

Spr_5b_586S.png

Venar the Sawsbuck
Lv. 38
Ability: Sap Sipper
Nature: Adamant
Jump Kick
Horn Leech

Inferno stared down the bird pokemon as Falkner looked on, quietly confident that he had the upper hand. He already had a massive advantage in his choice or arena, plus he had and evolved pokemon facing off against an unevolved one. Falkner wasted no time in attempting to finish this quickly, ordering a Gust attack. Inferno was picked up by the powerful winds and then slammed into the ground. I ordered an Ember but the powerful flying pokemon simply dodged out of the way and hit Inferno with a second Gust. I ground my teeth in frustration, my usual strategy of absorbing hits and letting my opponent open themselves up to powerful counter attacks was not going to work with Pidgeotto pounding me from a distance. I needed a new plan and I needed it fast.

Despite this it was still too much to hope that Falkner could give me a simple Time Out. A third Gust picked up Inferno and sent him spinning across the ground while I could only watch helplessly. Things were looking grim as Inferno struggled back to its feet. Suddenly, golden light enveloped Inferno, its form grew distorted before glowing in size. The golden light flared before fading, Cyndaquil was no more, it had evolved into a powerful Quilava!

With Inferno evolving I knew that it would had received a boost in many of its stats however, I was still stuck with the problem of hitting the Pidgeotto when it could easily dodge my attacks in the air. Falkner quickly ordered another Gust and a tornado whirled towards Quilava, just as Inferno was picked up yet again by the powerful winds inspiration struck and I ordered an Ember. Inferno blasted a stream of Fire this time not at the Pidgeotto but instead at the tornado surrounding Inferno. Falkner could only look in astonishment as the attempted Gust suddenly transformed into a powerful Fire Whirl which began to draw close towards Pidgeotto. Faced with such a powerful counter attack Falkner had no idea on how to proceed. He ordered Gust after Gust spiralling into the Fire Whirl to force it off course or perhaps blast Inferno out of the swirling winds of flame however each Gust was absorbed, the Fire Whirl only getting bigger and stronger. Pidgeotto tried to evade the Fire Whirl but the winds were becoming stronger. Gradually, it began to get sucked towards the vortex before with a gasp of pain, it was finally pulled in through the fiery winds. Falkner and I could not see inside the Fire Whirl but we could hear Pidgottos cries of pain as it was assaulted by Fire. With Pidgeotto trapped and taking huge amounts of damage I was happy to watch. I knew that Inferno was literally burning itself up trying to maintain control of the Fire Whirl, the cost involved was taking a massive toll on my friend but if it could just maintain that Fire Whirl for a little bit longer I might be able to win.

Falkner, still in shock quickly formed a plan. He ordered his Pidgeotto to fly into the centre of the Fire Whirl and use powerful Gusts to force the Fire Whirl apart from the inside. This would also have the bonus of sending Inferno flying, perhaps causing enough damage to knock it out. Pidgeotto steeled itself and blasted through fire to get to the centre before preparing itself for a powerful Gust. “Inferno Quick Attack” I called and Inferno raced up the side of the Fire Whirl. Now the tables had turned, Inferno, riding the winds of the Fire Whirl was now higher than Pidgeotto was. It was a slam advantage but I was going to abuse it all I could. I ordered one last Ember which Pidgeotto had no chance of dodging. Trapped on all sides by the flaming walls of the Fire Whirl he could do nothing as the blast of Fire blasted toward him from above turning the Fire Whirl into a solid column of Flame. Pidgeotto gave one last scream of pain before it disappeared from sight. Inferno maintained the Fire Whirl for as long as it could before falling towards the ground, having just enough energy to land on its legs. The Fire Whirl dispersed and Falkner and I saw Pidgeotto, lying in a heap on the ground, Infernos powerful fire attacks proving too strong for it. The battle had been won and the Zephyr Badge was mine

So I (long story short) did four nuzlockes and lost all four in a row. I started a fifth, critted my potential lillipup on route 1. Decided the game and me just weren't good for each other. Turned it off.

Final Part

Final Part

After a quick heal, I 'talked' to thestatue and it brought me down in the ground. I saw a huge stairs dooming up in front of me. Knowing that I might be too late I ran up the stairs, 2 steps per step. Out of breath I reached the top. I rested a little bit and entered the Palace.

There I saw Alder, sitting on its knees, bended forward. I was too late! N talked in triumph about his victory. He telss me the story about Alder's childhood. Because of it's loss, he wasn't as strong as usual. He wants an order spread across the land: "Trainers of the world, free your Pokémon!" Then N saw me. He seemed to know that I obtained the Dark Stone. He didn't want to battle there, so he called forth his Castle. The Castle rose up from the ground, surrounding the Pokémon League. I was in shock. The Catle had been there for really long already and it popped out. A set of elevators came to the central platform, allowing me to enter.

I got in the castle, with huge rooms and halls. There stood the 7, oh wait! Where is Ghetsis? Anyway, the 6 Sages blocked my path. They tried to stop me from proceeding. But then, I heard a voice. It was Clay, the gym leader from Driftveil! The Sages immediately backed off. Then the other gym leaders, Lenora, Burgh, Elesa, Skyla, Brycen, Iris and Drayden came out! Only the first gym was missing. They came to protect me and allowed me to go on.

I reached a strange room: there were a lot of toys around, even a miniature rollercoaster. This appeared to be N's room. Some time before, when I healed, a girl told me about N's past. He had only seen hurt pokemon and not happy ones. That may be why he want this. I have to stop him!

I went upstair to see N. First, I saw Ghetsis. He told me that Team PLasma would be the only one to posses pokemon. HEY! that isn't their plan! He has been hiding it al along! So that is his true goal, to gain world domination. I have to beat N!

N went on to see if Zekrom would appear or not, and Zekorm didn't. But as soon as N ordered Reshiram to attack me, my Dark Stone became to flash. Zekorm appeared! I had to catch it to proceed. I succesfuly caught him with my Master Ball. Afterwards, I decided not to use it in the final battle against N. He was shocked to see, but then he became overconfident. Then our battle started. My tactic was to keep Jade alive, If I had the choice.

Pokemon Trainer N. Type: mixed
Jade vs Reshiram
I saw Reshiram battle Jade. My first command was Dragon Claw! N didn't think It would defeat his Reshiram, but it turned out, I had just OHKO'ed a Reshiram without any boosts.

Vanniluxe vs Lumière
Vanniluxe came in, so I went to my fire type, Lumière. I just wanted this thing dead, so I use a Fire Blast, but it missed, and Vanniluxe made it Hail. I tried again to hit. The odds to miss twice in a row is 9%, so I used Fire Blast again. The burnung flames struck Vanniluxe and it fainted.

Pete vs Carracosta
Pete was a logical decicion. It is the only pokemon to carry a grass typed move: Grass Knot. I used the Grass Knot and it brought Carracosta to Sturdy. The Stone Edge did a lot of damage, but Pete managed to hang on. Carracosta then died of hail. N couldn't believe it. He had already lost 3 of his pokemon, while I had 6.

Triceratop vs Archeops
I missclicked here, but it didn't matter. I outsped his Archeops becasue i was 2 levels higher. I used Rock Slide which killed Archeops.

Lumière vs Klingklang
A Klingklang came in. I went to my Steel roaster, Lumière. I didn't want to get overconfident, but I went for Fire Blast. My prediction was right. The power of Lumière was enough to OHKO Klingklang.

Mr Crok vs Zoroark
His final pokemon.... Zoroark. My Mr Crok packs a nice Brick Break, but I knew his attacking power. Hoping that this would do it I ordered Mr Crok to use a Brick Break. The claw struck Zoroark, but didn't ko..... And used Focus Blast. Mr Crok managed to hang on with as few as 19 HP. I ordered a final Brick Break... To take down N. But N went on with a Full Restore, so were only wasted PP. The final brick break landed and I had beaten N...

After the battle I was relieved that I beat him. He couldn't believe it, but I
surely did.

Ghetsis came in, shouting at N about his faillure. He then told me about using N for his ideals and I felt sorry for him. Ghetsis then shouted at me that he wanted to battle and sent his Confagrius out. N then rushed in to heal my pokemon and I was grateful for that. Then I shouted at Ghetsis. "Don't you think you will get away with this! Bring it on!"

Final Battle vs Ghetsis
Jade vs Confagrius
It was Jade who went in, but that was not my intention. KNowing that there would be a Toxic coming, I sent in Triceratop. It was indeed a Toxic. He then went to Toxic stall me with Protect. I knew he had to use a move, so this time, I went for Acrobatics (more BP than Crunch). Surpisingly enough, it was a critical hit and Confagrigus died.

Jade vs Bisharp
I went for Jade, knwoing I could take him out easily. I accidentally used Dragon claw, and the night slash almost killed me, but it was a crit. Feeling more confident I used a Max potion. I then proceeded to use Dragon Dance. The next move was Brick Break and I killed Bisharp

Jade vs Hydreigon
Jade was At +1 now, so he outsped Hydreigon. I OHKO'ed the most difficult pokemon of the game with a Dragon Claw. Ghetsis couldn't believe it.

Lumière vs Bouffalant
I used Will-o-Wisp, to render him useless. His EQ then only did half. I used a Fire Blast to bring his HP down too. Then Ghetsis went for a Full Restore. A Fire Blast could KO, and I gambled for it. I got a lucky cirt and killed Bouffalant, a relief.

Pete vs Seismitoad
Same as Carracosta, Grass Knot to OHKO.

Jade vs Eelektross
Ghetsis his final pokemon. I used Dragon Claw and he used Acrobatics. I was one hit away from victory. Before I attacked, I thought back to the fatalities of my beloved pokemon. Oh Kobra, Daddy, Cleo, Shuvel and Chip, I shall do this for you. Let's beat this freak! Use Dragon Claaaaaw!!!!

WE have beaten Ghetsis. We saved Unova and completed our Nuzlokce Challenge!!! Huraay! Thanks to my team!

Nuzlocke Complete

Jade (Haxorus) @ Dragon Fang
lvl 54
Hasty Nature with Mold Breaker
- Dragon Dance
- Brick Break
- X-scissor
- Dragon Claw

When I got him after the 6th gym. I new she would be a powerhouse. I was right. As soon as we beat the 7th gym he became the MVP of most of my important battles. She beat half of N and Ghetsis on his own, thatnks to Dragon Dance. I think my Nuzlocke would be a lot more difficult wihtout her.

Pete (Simipour) @ NeverMeltIce
lvl 53
Modest Nature with Gluttony
- Blizzard
- Grass Knot
- Acrobatics
- Surf

Pete was my go to guy from the Beginning. Being in the team for the longest time, he stood out in many battles wiht his special attacks. If I wasn't sure of who to use, Pete always was the best choice. With Surfs, Scalds and Grass Knots, He would always be a important factor in any given Gym Battle. He also was a mojor participant in the final battle.

Shelob (Galvantula) @ Magnet
lvl 52
Calm nature with Compoundeyes
- Sucker Punch
- Electroweb
- Signal Beam
- Thunder

Although she hasn't seen much action against Ghetsis and N, she was always important. She gave me an easy win over the Psychic and Dark E4 member and used her powerfull Thunders to put a dent in the opponent.

Lumière (Chandelure) @ Spell Tag
lvl 53
Calm Nature with Flash Fire
- Fire Blast
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flame Burst
- Shadow Ball

Being fairly weak as a Litwick, it didn't get much use. But at the E4 he proved to be a important teammember, almost singlehandedly defeating the Psychich E4 member and defeating Bouffalant, who had a super effective EQ to kill him. I really liked using him.

Triceratop (Archeops)
lvl 53
Docile Nature with Defeatist
- Crunch
- Rock Slide
- Acrobatics
- Dig

My fossil, what can I say about it? His overall strenght proved me right in many battles. His physicall power was even compared to Pete. He is also my pokemon to succesfully KO Conkeldurr from Marshal. I knew TRiceratop would be a powerhouse of my team.

Mr. Crok (Krookodile) @ Blackglasses
lvl 52
Naive nature with Moxie
- Dig
- Brick Break
- Foul Play
- Crunch

And finally, Mr Crok. My other pshysical powerhouse. He shut down Shauntal and was a crucial pokemon against Elesa. This was the first time using him in a playthrough, and he is really nice. His STAB dark attacks were succesfull to many enemies, including irritating Sigilyphs.

PKThunder (Zekrom) lvl 50
Anton (Troh) lvl 52
Sharpy (Bisharp) lvl 52
Sandy (Mienshao) lvl 52
Claws (Excadrill) lvl 52
Ore (Boldore) lvl 39
Sheldon (Shelmet) lvl 30
Marty (Zebstrika) lvl 30
Toad (Foongus) lvl 28
Daisy (Ducklett) lvl 25
Eagle (Tranquill) lvl 21
Mowz (Minccino) lvl 19
Worm (Sewaddle) lvl 14
Steve (Tympole) lvl 13

Kobra (Serperior) lvl 36
Daddy (Herdier) lvl 28
Cleo (Yamask) lvl 22
Shuvel (Drilbur) lvl 18
Chip (Patrat) lvl 3

- catch 1 pokémon per route MAX. It must be the first I encounter
- When a pokémon faints, it's DEAD and cannot be used again
- Nickname every obtained pokemon
- Gift pokemon count as long as required in an area where no other pokemon was required (like Archen)
- In game trade: only ONCE (as the area is 'Link trade')
- My pokémon can't be lvl'ed higher than the leader's highest lvl'ed pokemon, otherwise, they can't be used in the battle
- Max lvl for E4: 52

Nuzlocke Complete

Congrats twannes on a on a well played White Nuzlocke. Jade looks a fucking beast.

Got some nice shit in my HG Nuzlocke so ill edit this in with a huge update (since im a little behind). Stay Tuned

EDIT

Authors note from the last chapter (I forgot to put it in)

If anyone was actually interested in the order of events Inferno did in fact evolve before the Falkner battle and outmuscled Pidgeotto to win (lol for once I did not even need Blaze). I just used my writer’s liberties to make the evolution happen slightly later!

Full of happiness for what I had achieved I continued onwards while doing some serious training. I caught Flop the Magikarp in the Ruins and a Sandshrew (Jose) in Union Cave. Sonar the Zubat and Float the Hopip were also quickly added after I left the cave. After meeting Kurt I discovered a criminal organisation by the name of Team Rocket was lose in the Slowpoke Well doing nasty things to the slowpoke there. After experiencing first hand what groups like Team Plasma could do I stormed into the Well and destroyed there operations there. Then I left to challenge Bugsy’s Gym.

Bugsy’s Gym was… not challenging. A user of bug pokemon Inferno laid waste to the entire gym with his powerful Fire attacks. He successfully took down Scyther while Sceptre took down Metapod and Kakuna without any problems. I met up with the red haired kid again but managed to emerge victorious without much trouble.

Ilex Forest was rather a rather nice place in my opinion. I captured a Paras (Shroom) and taught a few of my pokemon Headbutt before leving the forest to retrace my steps and headbutt trees in the Cities where I had not caught pokemon. In this way I added Arachne the Spinarak, Tuffy the Aipom and Alexis the Pineco to my team. With my pokemon catching mission complete I returned to the forest and entered Route 34 where I encountered a Drowzee which I promptly named Snooze. Drill the Kakuna was my prize from the Bug Catching Contest before I decided to check out more of Goldenrod City. Like every tourist I entered the Game Corner which was surprisingly addictive and I managed to eek out an excellent profit. After leaving the Game Corner with a new pokemon (Celeste) I realised I had not captured anything from Route 35. I entered the Route to find…

HOLY FUCK SHINY NIDORAN (Female)

tumblr_lk85x5tdkP1qztwn4o1_400.png

Thrilled with such an astronomical find I was glad I had Sceptre on hand to put it to sleep and then whittle its HP down with Night Shade (thankfully no crits with that attack!) and Paige was mine. With my team set and prepared It was time to challenge the gym.

Lol what are the odds of finding a shiny as your first pokemon on a Route. Anyway next update will be the gym battle with the DreadMiltank and after that you will finally get a long awaited Team listing (or whatever you call them). Now excuse me while I dance around delirious with joy at my amazing luck

wow ginganinja you are lucky indeed! Nice catch! And thanks! I really enjoyed my nuzlocke. Haxorus is indeed a beast in-game

With a strong team and new, beloved members, I was confident I could beat Whitney with not problems at all. Heck if I could crush trainers with legendary pokemon my skill level was certainly strong enough to take down a simple farm girl. Whitney started off with a Clefairy while I started out with Alexis. Alexis was pretty defensive so I was pretty sure I could shrug off a hit or too and defeat it easily. My prediction proved correct as after 2 simple Bug Bites Clefairy bit the dust. With her first pokemon down it was time for the main event. Whitneys powerful Miltank entered the field and I knew I had to play this carefully. Trying to get an estimate of just how powerful that thing is I stayed in with Alexis and ordered a Bug Bite. Bug Bite did bugger all but I stole the Miltanks Lum Berry which was a nice opening salvo into taking that thing down. In the process though, Stomp did a ton back. I did a few calculations and realised that I was in some serious trouble. I knew from prior research that any Miltank had access to Milk Drink at around this stage which meant that this one probably had access to it too. This put me in rather a difficult position, Miltank was bulkier than Alexis, could hit harder than Inferno and was faster than Sceptre. Basically, this one pokemon could do everthing better than my team could do together. Now knowing that it would take no less than a team effort to take this thing down I sent in my prized Celeste. At the sight of it Whitney let out a gasp. “oh my god that’s a dratini!”. Indeed it was, poor Celeste had been lonely at the Game Corner all along with no one to play with and I had managed to gain enough coins to buy it off the greedy owner. Now, in my hour of need, Celeste was going to play a crucial role in winning this battle for me.

Whitney wasted no time in hitting the mythical dragon as hard as it could, ordering a Stomp attack. Celeste grimaced at the pain but blasted a weak ray of electricity at the Miltank. The weak electrical ray failed to do any damage but succeeded in paralysing Miltank, lowering its speed and adding a possiable chance of Miltank seizing up and failing to attack. With 3 pokemon with Headbutt, I could force Whitney into a ParaFlinch combo preventing Miltank from healing while I could slowly weaken it bit by bit. With this in mind I quickly ordered a powerful Dragon Rage. Celeste blasted a powerful ball of energy which smashed into Miltank weakening it while in exchange a Stomp again did heavy damage. Celeste had done its job, it was now time to focus on weakening that Miltank further. With Miltnak low on health I was able to switch in my prized Paige while Miltank healed itself. Whitney gave a smirk, finding it amusing that such an under-levelled pokemon could take down her Miltank. In reply I gave a small smile on my own. Instead of attacking my precious Paige gave a small growl lowering the bite of that powerful Stomp. Whitney’s eyes widened as she quickly caught on to my plan. With Miltank crippled and her attack power neutered I would have a much better chance at finally taking down this beast. Whitney blasted attack after attack until I finally withdrew Paige for fear of a critical hit killing her. Paige had done a sterling job though, and that Stomp was no longer so threatening as before.

With Phases 1 and 2 of my master plan out of the way I quickly revealed the master piece of my plan. Sceptre entered the field. I had always hated this attack but it came in useful now as Sceptre gave a scream of pain, cutting half its HP for the price of laying a Curse on Miltank. The returning Stomp nearly finished it but Sceptre managed to hang on. Horror struck Whitney realised that this had been my true goal all along, weakening Miltank enough to nail it with a Curse, limiting Miltanks chances at stalling out my team. In using Curse Whitney would be forced to Heal itself which means a turn of not attacking. With Miltank in dire straights it was time to hammer home the finishing blow. Inferno entered the battlefield blasting away with Headbutts and Embers while Whitney was forced onto the back foot, attacking rarely. Eventually however, Inferno began to take serious damage from repeated assaults and I sent in my trustworthy Slick to finish the battered Cow off. The Blaze boosted Embers had taken its toll though, as well as the unrelenting assult of the Curse. After putting up a massive struggle, Miltank finally fell to the ground, after Slick nailed it with a well placed Mud Shot.

Despite Miltanks power, speed and stamina, my full team of 6 had finally beaten it. It was a mark of how powerful Miltank was that nearly my entire team was near death when the battle was over and I silently swore to myself, that I would never let a battle get this close again. I had gained Victory, but in the process knew that I needed more training, if I was to be successful in this quest.

Yep after a exhausting battle that tested my Nuzlocke playing skills to the limit I am pretty stoked that I managed to win without a member of my party falling. Sorry if this update was rather bland but then again, I was struggling to keep my team all in one piece and well, that was pretty much how the battle occurred. To make up for the rather average battle here is a list of my team since its about time I posted one.

Alexis (Pineco) (Female)
Lv 19
Bashful
-Headbutt
-Protect
-Selfdestruct (…)
-Bug Bite

Alexis is one of my most dependable members of my team. She reminds me of Thorns my powerful defensive wall I used in Unova. Alexis can take so many hits its amazing and she hits surprisingly hard with her Bug Bite. She might not be the powerhouse of the team but she is a good worker and enjoys playing with Sceptre a lot. Usually mild mannered, she can get angry very quickly if someone rubs her up the wrong way. Strong, Study and reliable sums her up nicely as Alexis will certainly not hesitate to take one for the team.

Inferno (Quilava) (Male)
Lv 19
Hasty
-Ember
-Tackle
-Quick Attack
-Headbutt

Inferno has pretty much taken up the same role as Bacon did in Unova. He acts as the team leader and rallies other team members in crucial battles. He does have a slight tendency to rush into things without thinking sometimes perhaps because he thinks he has the strength to take on anything. The battle with Whitney shook him hard and forced him to accept that there are certain things he cannot do on his own. As a result of this, he has become more humble. Inferno can hit very hard on either side of the attacking spectrum and is therefore an excellent back up sweeper to my primary powerhouses. With bulk, power and speed all rolled into one Inferno acts as my “Miltank”, and as such it is very useful to this team.

Slick (Wooper) (Male)
Lv 18
Rash
-Water Gun
-Slam
-Headbutt
-Mud Shot

Slick is the joker of the team. He is very playful and wants to be friends with everybody. However, in battle, Slick can be a powerful foe. With its excellent immunities to both Water and Electric attacks Slick can switch in on many pokemon and scare them off. He does however, act as a supporter mostly in lowering the speed of powerful pokemon with Mud Shot, or just wearing them down with repeated attacks. In this, he is helped with his nice defensive stat which lets him take physical hits quite well. With his nice typing and stats Slick can always be relied upon to do his job.

Celeste (Dratini) (Female)
Lv 19
Rash
-Dragon Rage
-Twister
-Thunder Wave
-Leer

Celeste is a rather odd case. I managed to buy her from the Game Corner and she has been very grateful. Celeste has massive potential to be a powerful powerhouse of the team but as yet she is very shy. She really only interacts with Slick who shares her love of water. While shy, Celeste can pull herself together when she needs to as seen where she faced down Whitneys powerful Miltank and succeeded in crippling it with a well placed Thunder Wave proving that she could be a real fighter someday. Celeste acts rather like a small child I guess as she is curious about quite a lot of things and still seems unsure of her full abilities. With time, I imagine that she will become friends with a few other members

Sceptre (Gastly) (Male)
Lv 18
Bashful
-Hypnosis
-Lick
-Curse
-Night Shade

Sceptre is one of my teams powerhouses. Unlike Celeste Sceptre has been with the team for quite awhile and as such is keen to work with Inferno a bit in leading. He really seemed to have hit it off with Alexis which is nice to see. Despite Gastly in general being playful in nature my Sceptre seems to take a more serious view on things. In a battle, Sceptre has no match as it can hit extremely hard when it wants to as well as being one of the teams faster members. Hopefully, Sceptre will teach Celeste to become more confident with its power over time although this still looks a while off. If Sceptre has a weakness it is that he hates being unable to affect Normal Pokemon. As he is so focused on helping the team he feels a failure when he cannot contribute in touch battles. This was slightly curbed when he effectively crushed Miltank with its powerful Curse attack thus allowing Slick and Inferno to deal the finishing blow.

Paige (Nidoran) (Female)
Lv 12
Docile
-Growl
-Scratch
-Double Kick
-Tail Whip

Paige is the newest addition to the party and is without a doubt the most shy. While not as curious as Celeste, Paige remains very scared of the outside world. Being rather small and shy I usually carry it around with me in my arms so hopefully give it a bit more confidence. It was a big ask for it to face down Miltank all alone and so recently after being captured but it did really well and I think Paige was happy with herself. Paige gets quite self conscious due to its shiny colouring. In nature, creatures with different colourings are sometimes hunted to extinction and its perhaps a result of this that Paige remains so shy. I believe that with a bit more confidence Paige could really be useful to this team and I hope that she continues to be as useful as she was during Whitney’s Gym Battle!

So, I'll give you a quick rundown of what happened in and after Ilex forest...

I searched for and found another jolly Caterpie, NN Bob. I continued north, added yet another Rattata (Jaws II) to my team. Yay, a new cut slave! Anyways, I continued onwards and my mystery egg hatched, so I put the new Togepi in the day care. I was scared of Whitney (who isn't), and so I decided to grind a bit to the north. Satisfyingly enough, Pablo the Geodude solo'd the entire gym, including Whitney. Miltank was not a problem because I set up three Rollout turns on Cleffable and OHKO'd, which made me extremely happy. Pablo is a boss.

Well, I left the National Park out for now and continued further north, and continued grinding for Ecruteak gym. I had planned on abusing Bob the Butterfree's Confusion attack for the ghost/poison types here, but he was OHKO'd by a critical hit Wing attack from my rivals, Valents, Zubat in the burnt tower. I added a Magmar to my team and a Stantler (which had previously OHKO'd Dood the Hoothoot), brought them up to around lvl 20 and entered the gym. Gora the Magmar solo'd the trainers rather easily with his Faint Attack, but struggled against Gengar which almost KO'd with a critical hit Shadow Ball, so I went for Stantler. He could do nothing against my Stantler other than Sucker Punch, so I just proceeded to sleep him and then Astonish him to death. The rest of the battle was rather easy, and so the Fog Badge was mine, with no Pokémon lost in a gym so far.

I then got my Eevee and put it in the pension for a while, while I explored the surroundings of Ecruteak City a bit (Hello Jaws III). When I got it back, it was on level 12 and I had just read on Bulbapedia that it learned confusion on level 15 as an Espeon, so I decided to have it evolve before that... I failed. Oh well. Grinding to level 36 (The joy!) to get psybeam, I guess... And I still need to evolve it. Anyone know the happiness mark? Anyways, near Olivine City I added yet another member to my team, Jaws IV the (Jolly :D) Raticate which replaced my Stantler and am currently in the lighthouse after I ran out of Super Potions and restocked.

Yeah, yeah, skipped a week. Was on vacation. This update is really, really long, so you should be satisfied!
DetroitLolcat's Firered Nuzlocke Challenge!
Part Five: Wrath of the Hax Gods...

Lolcat had stayed for two long weeks in Cerulean City, and it was finally time to leave the town for the third Badge in Vermilion City far south of Cerulean. Every house and building in Cerulean City had been thoroughly explored by Lolcat except for the one that had a policeman standing in front of it. However, it seems the policeman was not standing in front of the door this time, but rather next to the door. Lolcat needed to leave Cerulean City, and the only unblocked exit was through that house. Lolcat spoke to the policeman:

"Hey, officer, is the public allowed into that house now?"
"Yes, but be warned that Team Rocket had recently robbed that house and the Cerulean City Police Department has not been able to confirm whether or not Team Rocket has vacated the city, so enter at your own risk."

Thanking the policeman for the kind warning, Lolcat proceeded into the house and was a bit shocked at the interior. The inside was in shambles; there were muddy footprints all over the house, the furniture had either been stolen or overturned, and it seems the owner was still trying to repair the damage. The owner told Lolcat that the Rockets had stolen an expensive Technical Machine for Dig. Lolcat apologized for the family's loss and exited the house through the back door and into the backyard.

The backyard was grassy, but there was a trail leading out of Cerulean City on the other side. The rectangular yard was fenced off and the lake with Nugget Bridge stood behind the fence. In the yard there were no Pokemon but rather one person: a member of Team Rocket. Trying to be nonchalant, Lolcat strode behind the Rocket Grunt, but the criminal immediately turned around and spotted the Trainer, challenging Lolcat to a battle. The man possessed two Pokemon: a Machop and a Drowzee. Butterfree made short work of the Machop and Wartortle switched in and made short work of the Drowzee.

The Rocket Grunt handed over a TM28, the TM for Dig, to Lolcat, and then ran away. Lolcat chose not to use the TM because it only worked on Wartortle and Wartortle had better things to do than Dig holes. Now that Lolcat was finally free to leave the city, he exited the backyard via the trail and walked the outer perimeter of the town to Route 5. The Route was small; it had a few small patches of grass with Pokemon (potential teammates!) inside, a few ledges, and a house. On the other side of the Route was a guard shack and a small, mysterious building. Since Lolcat needed to visit the S.S. Anne in Vermilion City and on the other side of the shack would be Saffron City (which leads to Vermilion), Lolcat entered the shack.

Inside the guard shack was a lone policeman behind a desk. As Lolcat walked in front of the man, the officer spoke:

"Sorry, son, but Saffron City is off-limits from the north because of the Team Rocket incident. We know lotsa Rockets are hiding in Cerulean, and Team Rocket is trying to take over Saffron, so we gotta cut 'em off wherever we can. I hope you understand. If you really wanna go to Saffron, try from a different direction."

Lolcat understood the crime problem and ventured back to Route 5 to do some exploring. The first order of business on a new Route is to encounter a potential teammate, so Lolcat delved through the grass and discovered a wild Pidgey, of which he already had two in reserve, so the third Pidgey joined the rest of teh backups in the Pokemon Storage System. At the bottom of all the ledges stood a lonely house which Lolcat entered. Surprisingly, the house contained a PC which Lolcat used to deposit the Pidgey.

The person inside the house greeted Lolcat and then explained that this house was the Pokemon Day-Care service. The Gentleman will apparently "raise" your Pokemon if you "leave" them at his house. Since the only way to raise Pokemon is to kill other Pokemon, the man probably just takes your Pokemon has them beat the crap out of innocent Pokemon on Route 5. Yeah, I know normal Trainers do that too, but this psycho gets paid to take other people's Pokemon and deliberately beat the crap out of unsuspecting Pokemon. What a guy, I definitely want to pay this man.

The other building in the Route was labelled Underground Path: Cerulean City- Vermilion City. Lolcat had read of these buildings before, they serve as subterranean streets between two cities in Kanto. Since Lolcat was basically stuck in the northeast region of Kanto, the Underground Path could let Lolcat access the rest of the country. Obviously, Lolcat opened the door to the path and stepped into the one-room building. Inside, there was one room with a staircase leading underground. One Trainer was inside asking for a trade: Nidoran for Nidoran. However, Lolcat hat never seen a Nidoran before in the wild and thought the Trainer was mentally inept.

Lolcat descended the staircase and onto the wooden trail. The Path looked like an old subway track; just one long path between two cities, passing right under Saffron City. After ten or fifteen minutes of walking a second staircase appeared in the distance leading to Vermilion City. Lolcat ran to the stairs and climbed them. At the top was another building much like the first: a one room shack with a lone Trainer. This Trainer simply talked about how dark the Path was and how Trainers commonly lose items there.

Lolcat stepped out of the building and onto a grassy field rife with Trainers and tall grass. Lolcat first asked a Camper for a battle, quickly demolishing his unevolved Bug-type team with Butterfree and Wartortle. Lolcat continued on the winding trail where we found two more Campers talking about their Pokemon when Lolcat offered a challenge to the first one. The boy sent out a Squirtle which Fearow furiously attacked until it fell. The next Camper was female and chastised Lolcat for interrupting her conversion, sending out a Rattata. Fearow destroyed the small rat with some Pecks, but then the Camper unleashed a second Pokemon: Pikachu.

Just like in Mt. Moon, Lolcat remembered that his team really didn't like Electric types. Knowing that Fearow would probably not be one-shotted by a Thundershock, Lolcat commanded the bird to unleash a Fury Attack. The attack connected twice and the Pikachu was left with barely any HP left. However, the Pikachu's Static paralyzed Fearow. Taking advantage of its opponent's paralysis, the Pikachu began to Double Team twice while Fearow was unable to move. Pikachu fired off a third Double Team, but Fearow came to its senses and delivered a fatal Peck to the electric rat to seal the game for Lolcat.

Not wanting to deal with a paralyzed bird for his trip to Vermilion, Lolcat returns to Cerulean City and checks back into the Center for the night. Lolcat went to bed as soon as he arrived there because he wanted to wake up early the next day to travel to Vermilion City. That night, Lolcat dreamed a familiar dream. No pictures accompanied the dream as per usual; simply a faceless voice whispering into Lolcat's mind.

...Lolcat, why? You could have lost your entire team to that Pikachu... Nothing on your "dream team" can take on an Electric type and hope to live. Lt. Surge is your next opponent if you decide to continue, and he's a master Electric-type Trainer. His Raichu has killed seven Pokemon in the past year alone; he won't bat an eyelash as your Pokemon die from the brilliant electric shocks emitted from his Raichu...

Lolcat's dream didn't end there, however. The white light in Lolcat's dream faded to black and was immediately replaced by an image of Wartortle battling a Raichu in some unknown building. The Wartortle, obviously Lolcat's Wartortle, was covered in sweat, its flipper-like hands on its knees. The Raichu was standing strong in front of the Wartortle, dwarfing it in size. In the background, an almost inhumanly tall, muscular man wearing an Army uniform gave an order to the Raichu..."Raichu, end this with a Shock Wave!".

The Raichu took his sweet time charging up electricity in its cheeks until static shocks could be seen roaring from the mouse's cheeks. After an endless minute, the Raichu yelled "Raiiiiii....CHUUUUUU!" and the electricity erupted from the mouse. Lolcat's entire frame of vision was bathed in a violent yellow electrical storm with Wartortle in the center. The imaginary Lolcat began to cry and Lolcat reentered reality, immobile with fear.

As soon as he regained mobility, Lolcat reached for his belt and unleashed Wartortle, checking to see if the turtle was alright. The turtle was in fighting condition, ready to lead the charge to Vermilion City. Dismissing the dream as paranoia about Electric types, Lolcat checked out of the Pokemon Center and walked the perimeter of the city leading to Route 5. Route 5 led to the Underground Path, and the Underground Path led to Route 6. Lolcat walked the tortuous path and was discovered by a Bug Catcher, who possessed a Butterfree that Fearow demolished. The path continued to twist and turn until Lolcat saw Vermilion City in the distance. Two more Campers, a male and a female, blocked the way to the port city, so Lolcat took out the normal trash.

The first Trainer possessed a trio of Pidgey, but despite the type disadvantage Butterfree was able to dispatch of the three birds without much trouble. The second trainer had a Spearow and Raticate, and Lolcat used the two Pokemon to test out Butterfree's Compoundeyes Sleep Powder. Needless to say, the avian and rodent were unable to wake before falling to repeated Confusions.

The last order of business in a new Route was to collect a new Pokemon, if necessary. Lolcat wandered through the tall grass and found a small Oddish. Lolcat realized that Oddish was basically outclassed by Butterfree until the mid-30s in level, and this small plant was not worth using on the main team. However, it would make a good backup if Butterfree were to fall to "unforeseen circumstances".

The trail continued a few hundred feet until Lolcat passed a sign stating: "Vermilion City Limits". The center of the town was empty save a few people, and there were houses and routes throughout all parts of the city. Since Lolcat entered the city from the north, it was only logical to explore the north side of the town first. The first building on the left was a Pokemon Center, which Lolcat used to heal his team and deposit his Oddish in the PSS.

Next to the Pokemon Center was a house proudly displaying a sign: "Fishing Guru lives here! He is a guru! And he fishes! And he's an NPC who gives you an ITEM!" Having no idea what an NPC is, Lolcat entered the house and was greeted by a lone fisherman who immediately drew Lolcat into conversation:

"Welcome to the domicile of the Fishing Guru! As you may or may not know, I am a guru of fishing! I was born into this world by a mysterious creator named Game Freak and my primary objective is to increase DetroitLolcat's word count instruct Trainers in the way of the fishing! Here, young amphibious grasshopper, be taught with the ROD OF KNOWLEDGE!"

The psychotic man handed over an old, beat-up fishing rod. It didn't look like many big fish would be attracted to such a shoddily made rod, but Lolcat politely thanked the man and exited the man's house. The northeast side of the town was next to explore, but sadly only contained an old man and his Machop laying the foundation of a building. Since there was nothing of interest in the vicinity, Lolcat simply proceeded south and west to the unexplored area of town.

The southwest area of Vermilion City contained three buildings: a one story, orange-roofed residential home, a large, expansive Pokemon Gym, and a green-roofed, somewhat large building with a Pokemon Fan Club sign and a small garden in the front yard. The residential home was the building closest to Lolcat, so Lolcat stepped inside the blue door and saw a little girl inside. The girl spoke,

"Do you have a Spearow? Wanna trade it for my Farfetch'd?"

Lolcat did have a Spearow, but he knew Farfetch'd was a very weak Pokemon and should only be used as a Cut slave if the Trainer did not have one. However, the Oddish Lolcat found in Route 6 would serve as a Cut user once Lolcat finally acquired the proper machine to teach Cut.

The next building is the Pokemon Gym. However, the yellow-roofed Gym is surrounded by a small forest of trees on the right and an ocean on the left. The impenetrable Gym was left alone in favor of the Pokemon Fan Club. Four Trainers sat inside the posh edifice, two of which were arguing about their Pokemon, the other two were sipping some tea and watching the verbal duel. Lolcat saw that the two Trainers were arguing about the attractiveness of their Pokemon, even though it's obvious that a derpy Pokemon like Seel is far more awesome that a Pikachu. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9te6ADEU-M&feature=related.

The woman in the room was nearly silent, simply warning Lolcat that the Chairman is rather vocal about his Pokemon, but since Lolcat had a lot of free time on his hands today, he decided to take a listen to the Chairman's speech.

"Good day, Trainer", began the chair, "Welcome to the Pokemon Fan Club, where Trainers can discuss the finer points of raising, breeding, or even battling Pokemon. Allow me to tell you a little about myself. My name is Pokemon Fan Club Chairman, and I'm a pretty generic NPC just like the Fishing Guru. I raise over one hundred Pokemon, which I must say is an achievement it itself as there are only 151 Pokemon native to Kanto. I have not left Kanto in my life either, so all the Pokemon here are locally born and raised. Would you like to hear a short story about my Pokemon?"

Lolcat accepted the offer, deciding that there wasn't a better way to spend the evening.

"Very well then! My favorite pokemon is Rapidash. Allow me to recite a few passages from bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net about it. Rapidash's name was originally supposed to be called Gallop, but then GameFreak realized that'd be a pretty crappy name. Bulbapedia also mentions me as a fan of Rapidash. In the first Pokemon movie, there was a Rapidash without flames on it. It also has the same field move in both Fiore and Almia, two faraway countries where Pokemon Training is illegal! Instead, Pokemon Rangers populate the land there and normally only use Pokemon for a few minutes at a time. A person can only own one Pokemon in those regions because of those laws. In fact, Almia enacted the Anti-Training Act of 2008 when John. Q Whatsisname..

three hours later...
Which led to the illegal mushroom trade in south Hoenn. Oh, look at the time! I've been talking to you for more then ten whole minutes! I apologize for taking your time, but I would like to tell you a secret. You know the Fishing Guru?"

The chairman immediately took off his suit and revealed a fisherman's uniform!

"Yes that's right, I'm the Fishing Guru in disguise! Since I am an item-giving NPC, I must confer onto you this Bike Voucher!"

Lolcat thanked the obviously psychotic man, then ran like hell out of the city and back to Route 6, as Vermilion City is really, really screwed up. Knowing that there was just enough daylight to run back to Cerulean City and pick up a Bicycle, Lolcat did just that. Route 6 to the Path to Route 5 to Cerulean... He spent an uneventful night in the Pokemon Center, and then woke up early the next day to explore Vermilion City in its entirety.

After a standard trip from Cerulean to Vermilion, Lolcat picked up the city exploration where he left off. The only other building remaining on the southwestern side of Vermilion was a residential house near the docks. Lolcat enters the house and sees a girl, a boy, and a Pidgey with a letter. The boy explained that he's going to send his Pidgey to Saffron City to exchange mail with his friends since Saffron City is under lock-down at the moment because of the Rocket invasion. Lolcat was happy he didn't live in Saffron City, as the Rockets probably have that entire town under control.

The southeastern side of town has only two points of interest: an exit to Diglett's Cave and Route 11, and the Vermilion Docks. Since Lolcat has to visit the Docks tomorrow, he decides to see the Diglett's Cave and the definite location of his fourth teammate: a Diglett! First, Lolcat stocks up on Pokeballs because he had recently ran out, then he runs to Route 11 and after about five minutes comes upon the entrance to the dark, dank Diglett's Cave.

On the brown cave wall was a white sign giving a short history of the Diglett's Cave:
"This tunnel was dug by Diglett about 11 years ago: it leads straight to Viridian City for easy access across the continent, even though looking at the Town Map would shot that this cave most likely goes under an ocean, which makes absolutely no sense. Great going, GameFreak."

Lolcat climbs the ladder downwards (must be a pretty damn big ladder) and ends up in a rather well-lit cave with Diglett and an occasional Dugtrio roaming about. Lolcat waits patiently for a Diglett to come by to challenge Lolcat, but Lolcat is surprised when a certain Pokemon attacks him from behind:

A LEVEL 29 DUGTRIO. Lolcat realizes that this battle is no laughing matter. This Pokemon could be the best addition to the team yet and would require absolutely no grinding. In fact, it's six levels higher than the highest leveled Pokemon on the team. Lolcat leads with Fearow who would be immune to Arena Trap and Ground moves. Lolcat orders off a Peck to weaken the digging beast, but it does very little damage. The Dugtrio attempts to ensnare Fearow in a Sand Tomb, but to no avail. It then follows up with four Fury Swipes, knocking out half of Fearow's HP. The frightening reality entered Lolcat's mind:

He could easily lose one Pokemon, possibly more in this fight.

Uncaring, Lolcat ordered another Peck; the Dugtrio retaliated with a rather weak Sand Tomb. Dugtrio was in mid-yellow health now, and a critical Peck would finish it off, so Lolcat chucked a Pokeball at the digging trio. It shook once, but didn't capture the Dugtrio. Lolcat tried a strategy here: since Dugtrio only knows one move to hit Fliers: Fury Swipes, could Butterfree get a free switch-in here? Dugtrio at this level know three Ground moves and only one non-Ground move, so it seemed like a good idea. Lolcat tossed out Butterfree's Pokeball and the Dugtrio unleashed Fury Swipes.
Once.
Twice.
Three times.
A Critical Hit!
Four times.

Butterfree was below a quarter of its health. Lolcat had a decision to make:
1. Toss a Poke Ball at the monster, hoping to catch it: Odds of working, ~1/6. Fury Swipes will definitely kill Butterfree
2. Switch to Fearow and attack. Fury Swipes could be deadly
3. Switch to Wartortle, risking Arena Trap, and see what Dugtrio does. This could kill Wartortle, however.

No matter what happened one of Lolcat's Pokemon could die here. Butterfree was the most useful to keep in and the most expendable (Lolcat has Caterpies in the Box that are grindable), so he decided to keep Butterfree in battle with a 3/4 chance of Sleeping the mole. Foe Dugtrio used...
...
...
Fury Swipes. Butterfree's HP started to drop, and Lolcat knew that there was no chance for Butterfree to survive. The first death had come, and Lolcat was crying on the field as the words "Butterfree Fainted" appeared on the screen and in Lolcat's mind.

Butterfree had been the one to sleep Misty's Pokemon. Butterfree saved the team against every Electric-type Lolcat battled, as it always had the Special Defense to take on Magnemites and Voltorbs, and now this overleveled Dugtrio took its life away. That damn thing was joining this team, and it's going to work off this debt it owes the team with a fantastic Lt. Surge solo.

Lolcat threw out Wartortle and ordered a Tackle. However, the speedy mole dodged the Tackle by preparing a Dig attack. The mole then jumped up and unleashed the Dig and Wartortle prepared another Tackle, but this time the words:

"Wartortle's attack missed!" appeared on the screen. Bullshit hax. Knowing that Wartortle could barely survive another hit, he ordered a final Tackle against the Dugtrio. however, the mole outsped and unleashed Fury Swipes.

Two Critical hits (in addition to the regular one!) later, Wartortle joined Butterfree in Heaven.

The last man standing was a half-health Fearow. He could survive anything less than five hits from Fury Swipes, but Lolcat didn't attack.

It was time to chunk Pokeballs and either catch this thing or lose the team in a blaze of glory. Lolcat had a Caterpie and a Spearow in reserve, so losing the battle meant little besides a little grinding and a lot of team rebuilding. Without a Ground type, Lt. Surge would wipe the floor with Lolcat anyway. It was time to throw Pokeballs faster than Lolcat had ever thrown a Pokeball before.

First ball: one shake.

Dugtrio used Sand Tomb and failed.

Second ball: three shakes, but no capture.

Dugtrio used Fury Swipes

One hit.

Two hits.

Fearow hangs on with sixteen HP. One more attack and it would be all over for the bird.

A third ball was thrown, and shook only once.

Dugtrio used Mud-slap and fails to harm the brave avian.

A fourth ball was thrown, and it shook three times.

And Lolcat's Pokedex registered Dugtrio's data.

The mole had been captured. That murderous mole had finally been captured. There was only a 17% chance to catch that mole with a Pokeball, but it had been done. The problem was solved and Lolcat can finally move on-

Wartortle is dead. So is Butterfree.

Lolcat did what had to be done. With tears streaming from his eyes, Lolcat dialed the Pokemon Funeral Home in Vermilion City and was told that the two martyrs would be shipped off to Lavender Town's Pokemon Center within the week. Lolcat promised to visit the Tower if he ever goes to Lavender Town, but most importantly decided that this Pokemon League challenge would end in victory. Wartortle had saved the team in ever Gym Battle to date, and Lolcat wasn't about to let those two deaths happen in vain.

Unfortunately, there wasn't much of a suitable replacement to Butterfree, so Lolcat decided to try his luck at catching something in Route 11, the Route next to the evil Diglett's Cave. However, it was only another Spearow. The only near-suitable replacement for Butterfree is the Oddish Lolcat caught in Route 5. Since it was Level 15 already, only about six levels of grinding were necessary to catch it up. One Bullet Seed TM later, it was ready for some training. Training's not hard when there's a VS. Seeker and Hikers on Route 25 though, so it wasn't a long diversion from the main objective.

(Dugtrio got poisoned battling while grinding, and survived with 1 HP during this ordeal!)

Back in Vermilion City, Lolcat was ready for a relaxing night on the seas. He immediately proceeded to Vermilion Docks where the events of today could be washed away in a nice, deep sleep. However, Arceus had a different idea in mind. As Lolcat drifted off into dreamland, the voice-dream entered his thoughts.

Your team dropped like files against the Dugtrio I had sent against you. It was a miracle that you even survived the battle, never mind caught the Dugtrio. However, this is the first two of many deaths you shall witness unless you turn back. Go back to Pallet Town. Without a starter Pokemon, how do you think you'll win this thing. You're nothing, Lolcat, and you'll never be anything, or anyone. I will make sure of that...

Lolcat woke up a little intimidated by the dream, but it was nothing compared to the dream four days ago with Lt. Surge massacring Lolcat's team. That prophecy won't come to fruition, as Dugtrio will outspeed and one-hit-KO Surge's team. Lolcat remembered Bill's wise words from the a couple weeks ago:

"The Captain of the S.S. Anne studied martial arts a while ago and can teach any Pokemon how to CUT small trees down in the blink of an eye.

Knowing this, Lolcat headed out to the bridge of the ship, traversing the fine wooden floors and passing by fellow Sailors. The Captain's quarters lie on the third floor of the ship, and as soon as Lolcat began to ascend the stairs, a familiar face popped out from above.

Blue.

Blue typically began the conversation: "Yo, Lolcat! I've been collecting Pokemon, and even though I've apparently seen 40 of them, I still only have four in my party! Isn't that something! BATTLE TIME!"

Blue sent out a Pidgeotto and Lolcat released Fearow. Fearow began the fight with a three-hit Fury Attack, one of which was critical. Pidgeotto retaliated with a Gust, barely fazing the larger bird. Raticate was the second Pokemon Blue possessed, and Dugtrio was the Pokemon Lolcat switched to. Raticate unleashed a Hyper Fang on the switch, but the attack missed wide and Lolcat used that miss as an opportunity to strike Raticate with a Dig attack. It obviously KOed, as Duggy was 13 levels higher. Ivysaur was the third Pokemon on the rival's team, and Fearow was sent in on a Vine Whip on the switch. Fearow Pecked at the Ivysaur, and the grassy dino replied with a Sleep Powder. After a three turn sleep, Fearow Pecked the Ivysaur out of its misery. Kadabra was the fourth and final Pokemon on the foe's team, but Fearow outsped and killed it with a one-two Fury Attack-Peck punch.

I kinda rushed the ending because of the massive word count and drive to finish this thing today, so the rest of the S.S. Anne and Vermilion City will be in Part Six.

DLC, I'm mourning your Wartortle tonight. Losing anything in a Nuzlocke hurts, but losing the starter is a whole different level. D:

Wow, giganinja, so cool that you have a Dratini so early in the game! Dragon Rage at this stage in game probably 2HKOs everything, which is nice. I'm surprised that you had money to purchase Dratini, though :d.

nah I had Coin Flip rather than the slots Europeans get. Since you don't "buy" coins it basically got the Dratini for free although it took a fair bit of playing and a bit of probability.

Anyway I caught a Chinchou and was wondering if I should use it over Alexis the Pineco. Does anyone have any suggestions or recomendations?

Pineco can't do shit except set up spikes and explode, so I'd add Chinchou. Offenses aren't much, but good coverage and massive HP should see you through.
