Due to unexpected personal life and a bad case of writer's block, The Inferno is delayed indefinately.
On the other hand, I still have time/motivation to finish the Heart Gold run out, and it's much easier to write updates than days of writing, so here are Chapters Three and Four.

Chapter Three: The City
When the celebration was over, I retired to the Pokecenter for the night. I decided to sleep earlier that night, as I had a difficult battle ahead of me the next day. The leader of Azelea was Bugsy, just a kid younger than I was. There had formerly been older leaders in most of Johto, but they had been replaced following a wave of invasions a few years ago. Bugsy worked with bug-types, and I was fairly certain that Vulcan would have a field day, with Pluto and Mercury on the sidelines. It would be three on three, but I really only needed one.
Just as I was halfway asleep, a cracking sound jolted me back to the world. The egg that Oak had given me was cracking, and shattering into pieces as its contents were unleashed. When the egg was finally broken, a small little Pokemon poked its head out. I was momentarily puzzled by it; I was unaware of anything like it at first glance. Slowly, some part of my mind so deep that it was almost impossible to find stirred, and named it Togepi.
I noticed that it was still fairly weak, and not yet able to fight effectively. Nonetheless, Oak had given it to me to help, so I decided to keep it. I named it Jupiter.
The next day, the entire town had gathered to observe the battle between two rising trainers. Bugsy stood there confident in his abilities, while I stood confident in team match-ups. I had noted something important yesterday watching his Pokemon: our strongest were on the same level of ability, while our two weaker Pokemon were also tied. It was interesting how that worked. We were even in almost every regard. He led with Scyther, a beastly Pokemon that was known to tear most other unevolved Pokemon to shreds. I led with Vulcan, hoping that type-matchup would prevail. Scyther charged forwards with unexpected speed, and delivered a powerful slash to Vulcan, who retaliated with a pulse of embers that scattered across the arena. Scyther jumped back from the attack, hurting itself upon impact with the floor. Vulcan followed up with another round of embers, having much the same result, and forcing Scyther to fly to avoid the heat of the ground. As Scyther came in for another slash, Vulcan jumped up to meet it, igniting itself in a wheel of flames and striking Scyther with full force, knocking it out. His other two Pokemon fainted instantly upon contact with the ground.
He conceded the Hive Badge, and acknowleged my skills as a trainer, beating two leaders within a weak of starting on my journey. I was becoming more and more confident that it had been more than a week. I had been on some other journey before, when I still had my memory. I had reclaimed enough memory to realize that. The nature of that journey was still shrouded in mystery, and I was unsure if I would ever learn that much.
That night I was sitting over a fire Vulcan had made, celebrating victory with my four Pokemon when someone came over. He was the boy from earlier, Silver, and he was tossing up a Pokeball into the air in a way that made it very clear that he wanted to battle. I sighed, and stood up, fully prepared to take him on. He smiled, and I wondered when he was going to start. I got my answer when a Pokemon appeared on the battle field, forming out of the shadows. It was a Ghastly, a Ghost type. I sent in Mercury, letting it show its abilities. Mercury lunged once, and knocked Ghastly out with a single bite. Silver winced, and sent in a Zubat. Vulcan was in charge of this one, and struck hard with a Flame Wheel, knocking Zubat out. Finally, Silver unleashed a Croconaw, the evolution of his first Pokemon. I left Vulcan in, recognizing that niether of my other Pokemon could handle it. Vulcan shot out a Smokescreen, shrouding Croconaw's view. I could still sense the location of both combatants, and gave Vulcan the location of its opponent, allowing him to win with only minimal damage. He stormed away like last time, unwilling to formally admit defeat.
The path through Ilex forest the next day was long and tedious, with no serious opposition and a very odd path to follow. There was a small path to the north of the city, where I caught a Drowzee that I named Morpheus.
Goldenrod City itself was enormous, streching on for a huge distance in either direction. Almost every building in the city was taller than the tallest buildings in any city I had seen thus far. The city was beautiful at twilight, with the city lights sparkling into the night. Over the next few days I would collect a small arsenal of Pokemon, training them all to the power level I expected of the Gym Leader's most powerful Pokemon. Among them were Juno the Dratini, Aeolus the Caterpie, which soon evolved into a Metapod, and a fully trained Jupiter that became the strongest in my team bar Vulcan.
During training, I lost two Pokemon to poison. These were Pluto and Morpheus. It was a very difficult experience, but I had to move on. If Oak was right, there were more challenges ahead and I didn't have time to stay down.
The day finally came when I would have to face the gym leader, Whitney. She was only slightly older than me, but was known to be a force to reckon with. She was also rather secrative, choosing to do battles with no spectators. The night before the battle, the voice appeared again in my dreams. It was much closer this time, with a distinct presence in the blue fog. It laughed mirthlessly before it spoke. "So, you proved yourself master of the earth and sky. It's almost pitiful to look at you now, so certain, but so frail. If only you knew who you were." It paused, laughing coldly for a moment. "I have a nice suprise waiting for you tomorrow, something that will make my earlier gifts of poison pale in comparison. What fun this will be." The laughter droned into the distance, eventually fading into oblivion.
The time for the battle came. Whitney led with a Clefairy, while I took out Jupiter, a far stronger Pokemon. If anything, this battle should have been easy. It was time to get badge number three.
