Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
@asdfrozen, ive got a good clause for you for your next nuzlocke; the difference between the the levels of the highest leveled pokemon in your party and lowest leveled one can never be more than 5 levels. If this difference is ever more than 5 levels, you must train up the lower leveled ones until they are within the requirements. You must also have the maximum number of pokemon possible in your party at all times.
Problem solved. This actually makes it even harder as you will have to level up your hm slaves or spread your hms out over your main party.
Also, if u have a no healing items clause you will have to have a 6 man team to even have a chance with the elite four without any items. However, a no items e4 is basically suicide without an overleveled team.
EDIT: another thing is if you're playing firered/leafgreen, have a no bought items clause (or at least a no bought healing items) and choose squirtle. This basically forces you to use a pidgey/beedril/butterfree, as they are the only pokemon that can get you safely through the dangerous viridian forest (pidgey ohkos the weedles w/ gust, butterfree ohkos them w/ confusion, and beedril is immune to poison).
I'm trying the rule:
In a Gym Battle, you may:
1. Only use the same number of Pokémon the Gym Leader has (If Brock has just two Pokémon, box all but two of yours before the fight)
2. Not use any Pokémon of a higher level than the Gym Leader's highest levelled Pokémon
The pokemon i choose will be intertwined in my fate, so as such, i required a manly soul, filled with a fiery desire to be the best. Chimchar seemed to be the perfect fit for a partner and so he was chosen. A fiery pokemon needs a fiery name, so i named him Foi. It was Barrys turn to choose and he went Piplup. I first thought that he had let me go first to be nice, but when he chose the pokemon type that was the opposite of mine, it set a fire in my belly that let me know that we were destined to be rival trainers.
After giving us our pokemon, Rowan invited us to his lab in Sandgem and he and Dawn went on their merry way. I knew what Barry and I had to do with our new partners, and with fire in my eyes, I challenged Barry to our first pokemon battle. Foi and his piplup traded blows one after another and overcoming the type disadvantage, Foi won Handily. We shook hands for a great battle and we both felt the start of our rivalry.
Just as we were about to race towards Sandgem, we were once again snuck up on by a strange man that we have never seen before. He had blue hair and had a very monotone voice, almost void of emotion. He pushes us out of the way as he makes his way towards Sandgem and soon heads north. Caught in the confusion, Barry got a head start on me. There was no doubt that he was going to beat me there, so I headed towards Sandgem with Foi at my side.

It was a quick journey back home, but all the action thus far left me exhausted, so i took a quick nap. When i woke up, i decided i should head out as soon as possible so there was no better time than the present to tell my mother what ill be doing. She accepts what i want to do and gives me a pair of running shoes since i will be walking around a lot. We were soon interrupted by Barry's mother. She had no idea where he had run off to, so i told her of Professor Rowans mission that he had given to me and figured he may have given it to Barry as well and instead of coming back home, he rushed off. Barrys mother had something she wanted to give to him, so i told her that i would bring it to him if i see him. I said goodbye to my mother and headed back to Sandgem. I had to find where Barry may have gone, so i looked at the map in the pokemon center. Jublife City was the next closest town so it seemed to be the best place to check. Before leaving, I visited the pokemart to prepare for my tread to Jublife. Despite having not used one, other than the one Foi came in, i bought a few pokeballs. Although i knew the strength and reliablity of Foi, i knew that he couldnt survive alone, so i was prepared to get him some friends.
I was about to head up Route 202, when i was met by Rowans assistant, Dawn; she wanted to teach me how to catch pokemon. I was going to be on my own for my journey, so i wanted to fend for myself. I told her: "I'll show you the power of a manly soul!" I charged into the grass and encountered a Starly. It took but one ember attack from Foi to send this Starly flying backwards; it was burnt, but it still wanted to fight. It was then that i knew that i needed this guys tenacity on my side. I threw a pokeball at it and it was quickly caught! Thus Guile was added to the team. Dawn was amazed at my ability despite being a rookie trainer and gave me 6 pokeballs for the catching show. Before heading on through the rest of the route, i trained Guile for a bit to get as strong as Foi, because that is the type of trainer i am.
This is it for today, hopefully ill get further tomorrow

Jeez, I just got totally screwed in my Emerald run. I was using Marshtomp (Muddles), Hariyama (Beefy), and Manectric (Buzzzzz), plus a few other Pokemon I hadn't leveled at all, against Norman. Thanks to effing healing items, Norman had his Linoone all Belly Drummed up (I think Beefy got confused or something, which is why I had Buzzzzz in). Spark barely failed to KO, and Norman's (paralyzed) Linoone used Facade. Dammit. Buzzzzz is dead.
Beefy comes in next, obviously, and gets a kill. Obviously, Norman sends in his last Pokemon, Slaking. I figure he'll attack me and I'll survive (I have about 85 HP left), so I use Vital Throw to get the strongest hit possible. Slaking survives with about a third of its health left, and I get seriously worried when Vital Throw goes first (it has negative priority). Slaking used Counter. Beefy is dead. GOD DAMMIT.
Muddles comes in, and by using Growl once and then repeatedly throwing out Mud Shots (since the only Water move I have is Water Gun...) I manage to win with about 18 HP left on Muddles. I've lost two of my three Pokemon, and I pretty much only had junk left to raise. What's worse is that I trained raising a Taillow for a while, getting it to level 20 before it died to a Tentacool's crit Bubblebeam or something like that. Now the only particularly usable Pokemon I have are a level 34 Marshtomp, a level 31 Tentacruel (Waterworks) and a level 22 Machop (Mr. Buff). Machoke is pretty terrible, though, so I may have to find a way to evolve him; my only other Pokemon are a couple of Poochyenas, a couple of Tentacools, a Wingull, and maybe a Koffing. Time to see if I can win the game without type coverage! At least Tentacruel has good special defense and isn't weak to Swampert's weakness...
I'm afraid of fighting the normal gym in my sapphire run. Maybe I'll get some random box pokemon and throw it out when slaking is attacking. I hope belly drum linoone doesn't screw me over >_> Fake out + Vital throw will hopefully stop it.
EDIT: Has anyone ever considered doing a monotype nuzlocke challenge? It would make it pretty interesting. I think the one rule change to nuzlocke would be that you must catch the first pokemon of the appropriate type in that area or not catch anything.
I've been playing my SS Nuzlocke for a while, and I just lost my Crobat to a crit Selfdestruct from a Koffing 13 levels lower. I was at about half health, but even so, if it hadn't critted I'm pretty sure I would've survived. :/
Well, my team still consists of my Feraligatr, my Jolteon, and my Slowbro, which ain't too bad a position to be in I figure. I'm training up a Swinub now, which shouldn't take too long. Hoping to pick up a Skarmory after Blackthorn, and I'm considering training the Extremespeed Dratini, only I used up 4 of my Rare Candies on Slowpoke so I'm not sure if my patience with grinding will give out.
Also, I could use a bit of advice here. I was looking through the E4's teams, and noticed that Karen's Gengar has Destiny Bond. Any suggestions on how to kill it bloodlessly? Anyone?

I had that exact same thought! I was going to do a mono type after my nuzlocke, but I have enjoyed nuzlocke so much I considered combining them. I will do it (probably for ground type) on emerald after I finish my Leaf Green nuzlocke.
@WhimsicalBox: Get a Pelipper with Protect, or an Aron. Otherwise you get slaugthered every other turn. I managed to tank him with Aron long enough to get a defense drop from Iron Tail and 2HKO him.
Oh. and that Aron is now a Modest Lairon, must I still keep it or use something over it (Duskull? Safari Zone?)
I've been reading Nuzlocke's comic and all that stuff and I'm finally going to try this out on my Emerald. Just caught Torchic (Pecksly). It's a shame a can't draw very well but I may give it a go if I have the guts to try it.
I'm gonna be buying my pokeballs and I'll use PokeCenters as many times as I want, but other than that its on.
Ok, I've done a scramble and I'm doing another one but I've never tried a nuzlocke. I'm trying on emerald. I'll buy my poke balls and can use the poke center as much as I need and fainted pokes are deposited.
Chose Torchic, named ZDRUP (Brave)
Went for the route 102 hoping for a good poke and I get a Wurmple... Ok I'm pretty sure it will be helpfull. Named it WOM WOM (Gentle).
Now I have to grind WOM WOM to lv. 7 till the next city.
EDIT: Done, WOM WOM evolved into a silcoon and I'll now battle my first trainer (other than May).
EDIT2: Ok, arrived at Petalburg and went to route 104 where I caught a Poochyena. But I forgot to name it. I can't use it, right? (it's not a big deal since it isn't that strong...)
Hi guys first time poster long time lurker. I was wondering what about the use of softboiled. Because I'm about the start a Pearl Nuzlock challenge and Happiny would be a nice addition, providing I can avoid every single blade of grass.
I'm about to finish my Platinum file, but I haven't done anything of note lately. Also, whatever happened to Res Ipsa Loquitur?
Edit: Napstar, it's up to you, but I think it's fine as it isn't an item.
I'm a bit behind in updating, luckily I had this saved.
Part 4: Bikinis and Jiggly Bits.
First order of business was to take head to the Nugget Bridge and claim the prize that I heard was the end of it, what they didn't tell me was that I had to get through 5 trainers...whatever though. I head to the grass and evolve Jerry into a Raticate quickly and proceed to the bridge. Before I step foot on the bridge, Gary pokes his ugly head out and decides it was time to challenge me again.
==BATTLE!==
Jason vs. Gary #3
He has 4 Pokemon now it seems which is cool since that means more experience for me. He sends out Pidgeotto while I send out Jerry with his menacing teeth ready to bite down on something. Hyper Fangs gogo! Pidgeotto drops to the 2nd Hyper Fang but deposits some sand into his eyes before dropping out.
3-3 Tie. (More like 2-3 since Nequam is only level 10)
Next up is Charmander who comes out guns...err...tails blazing! I figured I would drop it with more Hyper Fangs, but now the Sand feels the need to impede me and I miss while Charmander puts a roasting to my rat with Ember. The next 2 Hyper Fangs miss thanks to Sand while Jerry gets more fire put to his ass. This left Jerry in a critical state, but Without Potions nor pokemon fodder, I had to risk everything on this next Hyper Fang...OHKO! Charmander drops with a thud and I celebrate.
3-2 Jason
With his best 2 Pokemon down, Gary sent out his lowly Rattata. I swap out to Mandra who drops Rattata with a swift Razor Leaf
3-1 Jason
All that leaves Gary with is his Abra which apparently only knows Teleport. I leave in Mandra to cut some Tail with some leaves and watch as Gary wollows in defeat. Victory is mine!
3-0 Jason
==END BATTLE!==
Gary says something I ignore and walks off, but no no! He comes back and gives me the Fame Checker, useless shit from a useless guy. I head back to the Pokemon Center and heal up and decide to level up Spearow since I feel she will be useful in the future.
Once she hit level 15, I go and own the Nugget Bridge utilizing all 3 of my main pokemon and claim my prize from the Rocket in disguise, then I own him in battle too.
I take out the trainer who wanted to duel me even after watching me do what I did on the bridge, some people are crazy no? Anyways, onto Route 6! New route means new pokemon! Into the grass I go! I encounter a Weedle....are you shitting me? Whatever, I catch it, and proceed to stampede my way through the trainers on this route. I get to the end and see an unusally big house here, I enter to a...Clefairy?
I talk to it, and it talked back! It says it is really a person, but get stuck or some shit, I just have to press a button once it enters that big chamber on the end of the house...okay...I oblige and out pops a man named Bill. He says something which is hard to remember, I did pick up on the fact he made the storage system. He gives me an S.S. Ticket for my troubles.
I leave and reenter to read his computer about Eevee and its 3 Evolutions. Hmm...I'm liking Jolteon and vaporeon, don't know which one I would pick. Ah well, I will cross that bridge when I get to it. I head back to Cerulean and heal and decide it was time to face Misty.
I enter into the Swimming po...err...Gym, and look about pretty impressed, it was bigger than Pewter in my eyes. I take out the 2 flunkies with Mandra in a swift fashion, then I look at Misty's fine self and knew it was time to battle.

Jason vs. Misty
3-2
Out went Mandra pounding his feet on the wooden platform we were stationed on. Misty acknowledged by sending out her Staryu, a Pokemon I have yet to see, but one I didn't fear and neither did Mandra. Staryu stood no hope against my Ivysaur as it fell in 1 hit to my Razor Leaf.
3-1 Jason
Out came Staryu's older brother Starmie to the battle, looking like 2 Staryu's glued together and painted Purple. Nevertheless it was much more formidable then it's pre-evolved self. It took to the water around the wooden platform with great haste as Misty commanded it to shoot out many stars from the jewel that protruded from its center. It connected, but it didn't phaze Mandra whom commanded his leaves to cut a circle around the platform, hitting Starmie in the process. Starmie leapt out the water, points of its star shape looking a little droopy; that Razor Leaf definitely hurt it.
Misty took noticed and sprayed some Super Position on it while I didn't let up on my attack and told Mandra so spray more leaves. Starmie counters with more Stars, but it wasn't enough to deter my Ivysaur who ends this battle with one more Razor Leaf. Victory!
3-0 Jason
==END BATTLE!==
Misty presents me with the Cascadebadge and the TM for Water Pulse which I take gladly and head to the Pokemon Center, heal and rest up myself after an exhausting day.
Damn! Lost already to May's Poison inducing cursing torkoal right after the first gym. I suck. Whatever, resetin time I guess. Choosing Torchic (Pecksley) again. I'll get my revenge on that bitch

Lol, I was able to kill it when it was at +3 with a crit double kick.
I'm now at Dewford hoping for a makuhita. With my luck it will probably be a zubat...
EDIT: Fished GELLY the tentacool and caught SUMO GUY the Makuhita!!!
Dead:
-Pupu the Poochyena (I wasn't paying attention and a nincada killed it)
-WOM WOM the Beautifly (1st big loss. it was poisoned by a bug catcher's wurmple and I was too far from the poke center)
Damn it! Just lost against Brawly! My ZDRUP15 (Combusken) fainted against his machop because of a crit +1 karate chop when I was at full health. Then the others were able to defeat machop and meditite but lost against makuhita...

Niice. I hate Poocheyena. Petalburg woods first pokemon: Poochyena. Welcome to the team "Poop". Managed to get Lotad again "VivaMexico" and yes a Poochyena "Kibbles".
I just stated on my Pearl and well I just got a reality check. I almost lost my Shinx to a Bidoof it survived with 1 hp, damn crits. Those kricketots are really annoying with bide, seeing as I can't run. And I was just thinking that the game was kinda slow at the moment.

Ok, well for my Soul Silver Scramblocke Challenge i have been grinding to lv.70.... just looked on serebii and found out that Lance's highest level is lv.75....
Anyways, training my Magnezone first, which has been 1HKOing Brocks party over and over again. At the moment Magnezone is lv.66. Also renamed my Skarmory from FaultyBird to Stig.
Now, in other news, i managed to nick my brother's Emerald and am doing a Nuzlocke challenge on that too with standard rules and the No double up rule or what ever its called. Also, i am nicknaming all my Pokemon with a name starting with 'B'. Party so far:
Player name: Nova
Treecko-Bladia lv.12
Beautifly-Botch lv.12
Dustox-Butch lv.10
