Official NBA 2012-13 Season Thread

A lot of people are ready to count out the Lakers and Celtics, but they struggled last year around the same time and I believe both teams will be doing better by March like they were last year as well.

Agreed. You can't count any team out at this point in the season, especially since the NBA has the most meaningless regular season in all of sports.

And regarding the Celtics specifically...they were even worse last year coming out of the gate and they were 5 minutes worth of rebounding away from going to the Finals. And they are much deeper this year. I'm not worried about them, wake me up at the all-star game zzz. The Lakers are the same way but in a MUCH better conference.

Chandler is just an animal, and I am loving this Knicks team. Finally something to cheer about. That defense and movement is just lovely.

Why, has the first quarter of the season ever determined how teams look in the playoffs? I'd rather enjoy the rest of the season
I just hate it when some random fans (including myself) celebrates wins over the likes of Bobcats

I'm counting the Celtics out because the Heat exist.
true

btw, watching Durantula play is such a beauty. One of the worthy regular season thing.

Yeah, my point as well. The Celtics had a shallower team & a worse record & very well could have won that series if not for that questionable officiating of game 2 and Lebron's explosive play game 5.

When you are a Laker, Celtics, or Heat, (And maybe Knicks now?) fan & your team loses or has a series of losses people are very quick to talk shit because those teams have either a long history of dominance (like the former) and/or have a star everybody hates (Kobe/Rondo/LBJ). So when the Lakers are struggling it really, really sucks especially when they should be better than they are.

Also, prior to that game the Bobcats were the only team besides the Celtics who LA had losing records to at 7-8 (now 8-8), even with their last couple of championship teams. So it's natural for people to be a little excited about that. And I really don't think it was beating the Bobcats so much as having a three-game winning streak, something Boston hasn't even managed to do.

Damn, Dallas really needs Dirk back. I thought he'd return today. The Wolves would really benefit from having Pau.

Man, those black OKC uniforms are terrible. If you're looking for a throwback/alternate color scheme, use the seattle green and yellow and pay them some homage.

This is what happens when the Knicks don't make shots & don't get Tyson Chandler shots. They had to come back to Earth at some point.

The Knicks lose by 4 against a decent team after trailing bigggg time...and you want to take something away from that? No team is playing at 100% every night of the season.

The Bulls let them score 45 in the fourth.... Which is not an accomplishment for the Knicks as much as it is a screw up on the Bull's part. It's not like like the Knicks shot particularly well. At least the three main guys who get touches (Carmelo, Felton, J.R. Smith). They were 8-26 as a team for 3-pointers, which is bad for a team that is so heavily dependent on them. It was a shitty game on both sides, and the Bulls were without Rose. I'm not calling the Knicks a bad team, I do think they're much better than they have been in a long time but I don't think a team can sustain itself on three-point shooting forever.

Does it strike anyone as odd that Lebron hasn't been called for a foul in 12 games, yet continues to be a strong defender while being a physical freak of nature?

he hasn't had a foul since 12/8 which is 12 days not games before this stat became popular on 12/20. it was 3 games at the time and as of right now it's been 5 games.

Nash is starting tonight. Will the Lakers finally get their shit together? Probably. Will they advance past the first round? Nope!

I know, I'm not sure why I wrote twelve besides maybe being tired when I wrote that. It's still pretty suspect though. Now it's six. How does one of the games most imposing physical forces go that long without being fouled?

I still think they get past the first round unless they're matched up against the Thunder.

YES. Besides a bad night for Kobe, Lakers win against another good team. They could have played a bit cleaner, but oh well.

All I gotta say is...thank you Lakers for winning tonight, in spite of godawful 16-41 FG Bryant. Aside from the victory, you helped the Clippers by pushing down the Warriors to 3 games back!

Love, and Angelino fan.

The Mavs really need a center & a PG. They should go after Raja Bell and DeMarcus Cousins... Assuming they could get a package together for him.

Both the Celtics & the Mavs need a center, and IMO they should go after Jordan Hill. He isn't a superstar, but he has good energy & has gotten a lot better.

Awww Westbrook is such a baby.

It's weird that so many people like the Thunder when they have the two biggest douche bags in the NBA.

Westbrook and who's the other one? One thing to note tho, if I'm being paid millions, I'll be a douche bag anytime.

Sorry losses, gave up huge amount of money tonight coz all of my teams lost tonight (Thunder, Knicks, Nets). Maybe I should've kept myself to Thunder lol. Merry christmas 'vryone!

Haha, YES! I'm gonna go with Perkins as the other? That dude acts like he's still coming off the '08 championship with the C's. Fucking overpaid, overrated garbage big man. I don't know why Brooks plays him as much as he does when Ibaka and Collison are way better at the 5.
