Betathunder: 1
Council member and STAB player extraordinaire, Betathunder has definitely earned his rank as one of the most notable STABmons players in recent years. Not only has he shown a great performance in last years OMWC, but he has also dedicated a lot of knowledge and dedication in pushing forward the STABmons metagame, meaning that he can translate that knowledge in putting in a great performance this upcoming OMPL.
Cam: 2.6
Great player with a lot of insight of the STABmons metagame thanks to the most recent MonoWC as a STABmono player with one of the best records of that tournament. He also has support from Funbot (a STAB semi-expert and council member) to help support with his builds to elevate his skill.
aesf: 3
While not specifically renowned for his STABmons knowledge, aesf is a solid enough player to adapt to any metagame and use his AAA experience to help him push forward with his matches throughout the tournament. This is also helped by support from Jrdn who is known to be a great STABmons builder and can definitely help his teammates push for the wins.
Dr. Phd. BJ: 3
A STABmons ladder player that can use his expertise from laddering and translate it to tournament success. The doctor isn’t limited by playstyle either, sporting a versatile repertoire of teams of all archetypes. Whether blitzing or stalling out his opponents, he’s a scary matchup for any player to go up against.
w0rd: 4.2
With years and years of rust from the STABmons metagame and the pressure of living up to his former self, one can only wonder whether word’s once-solid skills and one-of-a-kind builds have stood the test of time. And with Diggersby no longer being relevant in the gen 7 Stabmons metagame, the only thing predictable about word’s teams is their unpredictability. If he can reclaim even a shadow of his former self, he’ll undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with.
Quantum Tesseract: 5
QT has been solid in almost all OMs throughout their career, with stabmons being no exception. That being said, they have taken a step away from the meta due to its lack of popularity in recent years, which may prove detrimental. That, in addition to some unorthodox teams, may lead to an erratic record. Nonetheless, this is my wildcard pick. -beta
In the Hills: 6
More known for his Mix and Mega abilities, In the Hills has chosen to try his hand at STABmons in this OMPL, leaving his teammate Andy to handle the Mix and Mega pool. While he has had a handful of games in WCOM, his STABmons abilities are still relatively unknown and are yet to be proven. This OMPL may be the tournament for him to demonstrate his versatility in another meta.
Shiba: 6.8
As someone who was once known for
buying his current username, Shiba now finds himself playing an unfamiliar metagame. He has had solid tournament success however, which may translate to STABmons. With proper team support and preparation, he can put up a solid record.
