Sticky Orange Islands SQSA Thread

Is there a place to post about and discuss happenings in VGC (as an event moreso than its meta)? Just saw a story where apparently a Regional Tournament forgot to unlock the Tera Orb on their provided Game copies.
I don't think we have a specific place for that unless we have a thread about pokemon-related real life events somewhere down in this board...
Though ironically I saw that happen live during the stream yesterday. Funny moment.

What 7* raids do we unofficially know are still coming to Scarlet and Violet?

What raids do we think might be coming besides those?

These are pretty much the only reason I play SV right now.

We have 0 leaks on 7* Raids

The only thing we can say with some reasonable certainty is that we'll get a raid for every gen 1-8 starter (& imo probably the gen 9 starters too because why not), just based on them continuing to do those.
So based on that the ones left would be Feraligatr, Sceptile, Swampert, Torterra, Infernape, Serperior, Emboar, Incineroar, Primarina (& then probably the SV trio)

If they want to do anything else it is impossible to guess. The only non-starter ones we've had were Pikachu (for Pokemon Day), Mewtwo (not for Pokemon Day but like, close enough), Iron Bundle (for christmas, an upgrade over the traditional Delibird raids they did the year prior and for SWSH) and Eevee (for Eevee day). All tied to special events (or close to them) and instead of a special odd ball for THIS Pokemon Day we just got Venusaur & Blastosie & a Charizard rerun.

There is also a *moderate* chance of legendary raids. In previous gens they have used mystery gifts to distribute "other version" leges during the last year, most likely to help VGC players. Having them done Dialga / Palkia already, it is something possible.
Though I think if there's going to be more legendary raids they'll be more in the D/P (& WW/IL) 5 star raid bin than the Mewtwo 7 Star.
I also think it wouldn't be to help VGC players

Surely if they can catch them they don't need to gen more CLUELESS
I know you're joking but seriously VGC is in 3 months and the last legendary release was 5 months ago for the DLC.
There's plenty of import-only legends they could have started peppering in, but we didn't even get something Legendary for Pokemon Day. Which really just killed any hopes of getting more than maybe one or two that suit their fancy (at most).

If there is any more leggenday it gon be a popular one, maybe even a shiny so more people buy the game
Noone is going to "buy the game" because of a shiny legendary raid sir, not when nowadays genning websites are everywhere and it only costs 5€ to get a large amount of legal genned shiny.

The only reason they keep adding up 7* raids is to keep people playing, as otherwise there's really no reason to launch the game as a casual player at this point, and with no people playing, it gets progressively difficult for anyone who bought the game recently to get into online raids in first place.

I agree that no one will buy the game for a legendary raid & it acts as further incentive for people to play the game, but I disagree on the "anyone can just pay money for a hack" front. I think that the number of people who would do that are very slim and the most average joe guy wouldn't even be aware of it.

Regardless Pokemon is an ever green title, there will always be people playing it for as long as it's relevant

Fairly certain I know the answer to this but I don't actually think I've ever tried it: the glitch which can cause Pokemon in eggs to be shiny for player A but not player B isn't present in Gen II, right? Fairly sure shininess is solely determined by IVs in GSC so it stands to reason that an egg which would be shiny when hatched would stay shiny if I traded it to another game.

Correct, that glitch is caused by different trainer IDs interacting with the same PID. So the fact that it's entirely DV based in gen 2 means that it can't happen. Also that PIDs don't even exist until gen 3.

Is there a way to get an Enigma Berry into (English) Emerald or Fire Red? Was thumbing over the Bulbapedia pages for e-Reader berries and I still don't think I'm fully straight on how they work.

Enigma Berry is, to my understanding, effectively just a placeholder berry in Gen 3
It's only meant to "exist" in so far as it's what gets overridden by the eReader berries & they need something to display in scenarios where the other player doesn't have the e-reader berry scanned in themselves.

you can't actually obtain and use it "solo"

I didn't know anywhere else to ask this, so I'll ask it here and hope it's okay.

I'm looking to play a Pokemon X/Y romhack that is harder, though not necessarily one with like Drayano changes. Kalos fever, y'know?

I know there are several, so what is the best one I should play?

Not sure how much more difficulty you are looking for, but quickly looking at available hacks, X/Y Rebirth ups the difficulty to the level of the hardest mainline games without changing anything outside of vanilla.

So in HGSS the third starter Pokemon in Elm's lab disappears at some point and it's never explained and the game even prompts you to wonder "who did Elm give the third starter to?", yes yes, it's all very mysterious.

My question is, does anyone know when exactly it disappears? What's the flag - getting the eighth gym badge, defeating the Elite Four, defeating Red?

I actually never knew this was a thing

My gut was it's when you get the 8th badge, since that's when you're forced to return to the Lab and it just feels like a point where you'd see an update to it

Sure enough, it seems to be gone here.

Has anyone ever made a thread or spreadsheet cataloging all the bans a pokemon has ever received (i guess limited to official tiers)
Like pokemon criminal records lol

In Pokémon Diamond Version, Uxie, Mesprit and Azelf do not need to be caught to advance the campaign. I would like to postpone catching them, but do they permanently disappear at any point? I was already bamboozled by the game once, soon I will get around to whining about Spear Pillar at (Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon...

They don't need to be caught but they do need to be seen to complete the Sinnoh Dex: interacting with Mesprit will add its seen entry and cause it to start roaming, after which you can leave it as long as you like to catch it.

Uxie and Azelf, though, have to be caught (or knocked out or fled from, or else traded for) to get the dex entries. You can defeat the Elite Four without seeing them, you just won't be able to get the National Dex.
