Resource ORAS OU Simple Questions, Simple Answers MKII (Read the OP First!) (Now with 100% more Rules!!!)

It's a "private" room(even though its existence is basically of public dominion) on Pokemon Showdown where top players hang out; I think it stands for "Based OU Friends" or something on that lines.
The team you're talking about has TrickScarf Gothitelle as its cornerstone, because of its ability to cripple any non-mega stallbreaker/wallbreaker with its Scarf, so the rest of its teammates basically have to deal with just Mega wallbreakers. If Gothitelle manages to remove the opposing wallbreaker, which it usually does, then you've basically won. The team is called "bof stall" because it was popularized by some users in the room.
I hate people.

Why is Mega-Alakazam A+ Rank? What does MZam do to be that viable? There was a team that popularised him and his usage raised or something? I remember the days when MZam was a Mega that i've never watched in any battle and I think he is still rare to watch in tournaments/ladder because people usually prefer other megas.

I'm not the one with the most knowledge about this, but I'm quite sure that it got popularised on Spike stacking offense, where it is a monster for late game cleaning.

I have a shiny Larvesto with good ivs in HP, Attack and SDef. It's nature raises Def but lowers SDef. I thought the only thing I could do is ev its health and def and make it defensive. I didnt think it would be a good idea to make it a speed SAtt version. Is this a good idea?

Ok so it's common knowledge that certain Pokemon beat certain playstyles right? Mega lopunny typically wrecks offense, hoopa-U wrecks stall, but how about bulky offense???

What Playstyle does the mag/alt/weavile core work best on? Partners for it?
Hyper Offense.

Let's see. Kyurem-B, Keldeo, Hoopa-U, Manaphy, M-Gardevoir, Charizard-Y, Charizard-X, are all typical threats to Bulky Offense teams. Their team archetype is such that almost every team member is slow, this means that they have nothing to revenge kill something like a DD Zard-X, TG Manaphy, SubCM Keldeo, CM/Taunt+3 attacks M-Gardevoir, and so on.

Let's see this team made by my friend, DeeJ

Let's see how this team fares against the pokemon I mentioned.

Keldeo can fare pretty solidly against this team. It does a number against 4/6th of the team, only answers to it being M-Venusaur and Latios, both of which can get worn down pretty easily.

Kyurem-B does a fantastic job at overrunning the team too. With Latios being unable to switch in, it is only able to revenge kill. Tyranitar is a decent check too, but it can get worn out by coming in constantly on its attacks. It is able to, however, potentially Pursuit it and get off some nice damage.

Hoopa-U lol. Only pokemon capable of getting off damage on this team Latios, SpDef Talonflame, and ScarfTar. Latios does heavy damage with Draco Meteor, Tyranitar can revenge kill with SE, Pursuit-trap. Talonflame gets off damage with Brave Bird. So yeah, Hoopa-U does a number against the team.

Hope this was clear:toast:

Is every percentage based calculation rounded down? Say, something that would take stealth rock damage calculated to be something like 12,34 damage, would it just get the 12 damage?

That's a trophy shiny at best. As TSV hatching is a thing, plus Masuda Method and Time Machine breeding, hatching shinies isn't a big deal anyway.

I got the shiny through wonder. I'm just trying to use what I was given. I'm only for shinies of specific kinds I don't want a shiny of every pokemon.
Honestly, I wouldn't use it. The nature is bad and 3 of the relevant 5 IVs are suboptimal. I can understand wanting to use it because it's shiny, but there seem to be too many things wrong with it when you could breed your own and get significant improvement

I've been seeing a lot less Lop-megas....maybe that's just me

I really like using it too, but I get kinda upset with it against more defensive teams, since it can't really break cores all too well...for example those using a Skarmory or Hippowdon or Mandibuzz...

Are there any unique or creative sets Lop can use to beat them? I was thinking power-up punch or maybe encore but idk

Encore+Pup makes Hippo, and a lot of other generally passive mons into setup fodder, sub+pup lets lop fare better vs defensive teams and set up on mons that primarily rely on status to beat lop, Healing Wish can allow Lop to heal up a teammate after it is no longer useful in a match, and work up+blizzard allows it to beat tankchomp without taking rocky helm damage. (although work up+bliz isn't that good on most teams)[/quote]

Hey all, I'm trying to expand my horizons with Megas that I don't usually use and I'm trying to use Charizard X properly. Thing is, many teams carry checks to Zard (such as Hippo, Heatran, and Unaware Clefable) and save them for my Zard. What are some tips and tricks to using ZardX properly? What are some teammates I can use? A weird question considering it's an S ranked mon I know butI seem to be having more trouble than most people :P

Run flare blitz to 2HKO clef and you would run goth to trap tran and hippo. Also if you go to the good cores thread and click CTRL+F and type in charizard you can see all the cores with zard. http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/oras-good-cores-check-post-714.3524713/page-53 check that out

Thanks for the reply :) I've consulted the Good Cores thread and based my team around the CharX,Serp/Starmie cores. Trouble is my opponents never let Hippa and friends die to the later 2 (shocking, I know :P).
I can also see how Goth kills Hippo but what does it do to Tran?

If u wanna be a low quality human u can run trick scarf which beats it but takes a long ass time or since this specific goth is to support zard u can run specs hp ground. I'm not sure which one tho for ur specific team and after u build the team I would ask a more experienced player like Analytic

I'm not opposed to being a low quality human being ;) I'm also not opposed to using Dugtrio either. I guess it's just more testing for me
