Thousand apologies for making such a long unannounced hiatus everyone, but I'm back and ready to continue running this project! So, let's conclude the voting phase: the winner of the Cycle 19 is Waterium Z by Katy . Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. And we're beginning the new Cycle!

Cycle Twenty - Kyurem-B
:sm/kyurem-black:

While Kyurem-B isn't really used on the tour scene, it's still one of the most terrifying wallbreakers OU has ever seen. With its gigantic offensive stats and amazing coverage, Kyurem-B is capable of solely dismantling many common defensive structures. Z-Moves also give Kyurem-B a very threatening offensive tool in one-time Subzero Slammer from Freeze Shock which just deletes everything not resistant to it. On the other hand, Kyurem-B can opt for a mixed Life Orb set in order to maximize the firepower of its outstanding mixed coverage. Ok, post here some other fearsome variations of Kyurem-B here guys!

The deadline is Thursday 17th of October. Good luck!

Z-Outrage is a cool tect because of it isn't resisted by Water and Fire so they can't pivot in. This is especially helpful as a lot of of the time you burn your Z-Crystal as a Toxapex switches and survives then switches out and now you no longer have a nuke. This won't happen with Dragonium Z as fairies will never switch in and fear getting nuked by Z-Freeze Shock. Outrage is also a way better move than Freeze Shock as it can be spammed once Fairies and Steels are gone. HP Fire is used to break past Ferrothorn and M-Scizor easier.

This is a fully physical Kyurem set that I saw Tricking use to great success in Smogon Snake Draft. Hone Claws boosts Kyurem's Attack to Choice Band levels while making Fusion Bolt fully accurate. Substitute eases prediction and allows for safer setup. It also allows you to use raw Freeze Shock in certain situations. 52 HP EVs means Kyurem has 404 HP putting its sub at 101 HP meaning Seismic Toss doesn't break it, allowing Kyurem to set up on Chansey.

Tricking vs. Charmflash in SSD week 7 where Tricking's Kyurem sets up on Chansey and does a tremendous amount of work against Charmflash's team.

Do you hate when you’re going through fast paced ladder climbs but suddenly you’re annoyed by three stall teams in a row? This Kyurem is the solution to your problem. While normal Z-Freeze Shock Kyurem is a decent enough stallbreaker, it needs some prediction, which this set does not. Hone Claws boosts your Attack in addition to ignoring Unaware thanks to Teravolt, while Facade deals with the myriad of statuses that are on stall. This lets you use much of the passive core as setup fodder, and can get an average of 2 kills against bulkier teams. Pretty much the only stall that Kyurem can’t manage is M-Aggron stalls, but those were designed for Kyu-B and MMaw lol. S/o HCJB for the set

This set is an attempt of perfect coverage, with These 4 moves kyurem will hit the entire OU Tier except for a few exceptions for super effective damage. Electrium Z is used on this set to make up for this kyurem's lack of attack Investment giving it a nuke that still accomplishes feats such as ohko-ing pex and fini. HP Fire nails scizor and Ferro who are kyurems best all around answers overall (Ferro just has to look out for subzero slammer). However this kyurem still does get walled by Swampert, Gastrodon Quagsire etc and despite having super effective coverage on Targets such as tyranitar it would need prior damage to 1v1 them.

4 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Gigavolt Havoc (180 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Toxapex: 286-338 (94 - 111.1%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Black Sludge recovery
4 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Gigavolt Havoc (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 16 Def Tapu Fini: 362-426 (105.5 - 124.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
4 Atk Teravolt Kyurem-Black Gigavolt Havoc (180 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 236-278 (70.6 - 83.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO <-skarm also gets 2hkoed by ice beam btw
252 SpA Teravolt Kyurem-Black Hidden Power Fire vs. 248 HP / 244 SpD Scizor-Mega: 200-236 (58.3 - 68.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Team Options

Spikes are dope, Electric Terrain makes Gigavolt hit hard even on neutral Targets, hazard control is mandatory, wish passing sounds reasonable on some fat balance build, grass types cover all the water grounds, volturn cores make this come in easier, additional breakers make kyurems job easier, cleaners can benefit from kyurems core breaking just to name some ideas.

Now that the good sets are taken here's something sort of dumb but cool. Scarf KyuB takes advantage of surprise, especially since the lack of LO recoil implies it's Z, to pick up kills against Torn-T and scarf Lando that would normally U-Turn out against it safely and if Steels are gone it clicks Outrage in the late game which 2HKOs most non-resists from full. It outruns everything except scarf Lele (tie) and up. First three moveslots are standard, last one is for Koko, speed control, or extra cheese.

AV exchanges the extra power of LO on an AoA Kyurem for the ability to check problematic stuff (Spin or at least Defog support is needed to make the most out of it tho). With this chinese spread Kyurem can tank a Volc's +1 Z Fire Blast from full. Specs ninja's dark pulse is not a 3HKO; It can also eat +3 modest Mana on rain and miscellaneous stuff like a Twinkle Tackle from Koko, Specs Lele's Moonblast or M Latios' Draco. The speed is for Gliscor outpacing base 80s. Lonely nature and a jump point to maximize overall stats and damage output, while the rest is put on Spa for Earth Power to 2HKO offensive Mag and Ice Beam to hit decently hard. Rock Slide is used to OHKO the broken moth.

252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Dark Pulse vs. 40 HP / 72 SpD Assault Vest Kyurem-Black: 112-133 (27.9 - 33.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
+1 252 SpA Volcarona Inferno Overdrive (185 BP) vs. 40 HP / 72 SpD Assault Vest Kyurem-Black: 313-369 (78 - 92%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Tired of those matches where you're just missing out on that extra bit of coverage to 6-0? Tired of getting worn down by LO recoil? EBelt helps this matchup by removing recoil but allowing you to use KB's excellent coverage to a similar effect. Outrage is a potential option over Hidden Power Fire incase Chansey ends up being difficult to break.

- Fusion Bolt / Iron Head
- Hone Claws

This is a pretty heat Kyurem. It does have a decent chance to sweep late game, when fairies and steels are gone.
I’ve had some success with this set and used it unironically before. It has hone claws to boost it’s stab outrages
to nosebleed heights and fusion bolt to hit thicc stuff like Azu, however, it also can run iron head to have a better chance of sweeping, but usually fusion bolt does better. It sets up on so many things, like a scarf Kart locked into leaf blade, a Rotom-Wash trying to pivot into an expected ice attack, or a Gliscor trying to defog away rocks/spikes.
It usually fits on hazard stack teams so the opponent’s team is softened up just enough for it to sweep.
The coverage is lacking at best and this set requires a lot of support, as it can't reliably clean without some prior heavy lifting and needs a lot of turn investment, as all dual-dancers do. But I think that despite it being gimmicky, it can probably work decently alongside Magnezone.

Banded Breaker Kyurem-Black
, as you can see, this Set is based around Choice Band Kyurem-Black because it can deal a hefty amount of damage
to everything due to its high physical Attack-Stat, which is incredible high with 170 Base. Kyurem-Black can break through a multitude of unprepared teams with this set.
Dragon Claw and Outrage are the two physical Dragon-type STAB moves and Ice Beam is the best option for the Ice-type STAB move. Fusion Bolt is here the coverage
option as it can get past Toxapex with ease and threatens a multitude of other Pokémon as well due to its high Attack. Even tho Kyurem-Black has a minus
Special Attack nature it can still get past Gliscor, Landorus-Therian and Kartana with its option in Ice Beam.

Basically just regular kyurem's sub roost set, but with toxic > EP and Icy Wind over Ice Beam.

Another sub toxic set, sue me. 56 HP EVs mean this thing gets 101 hp substitutes. The rest is put into max speed and SpA. Icy Wind is an interesting tech that allows Kyurem-B to slow down some very scary mons if it can get a sub up beforehand. This set also gradually beats stall. Roost is pretty self explanatory. Earth Power can be used over Toxic if heatran is a problem.

Although this set is quite prediction-reliant, this Kyurem has the possibility to phase out a set-up sweeper or a traditional counter (if not a Fairy type).
Double STAB is useful in order to have enough power to dish out proper damage throughout the match (mainly Ice Beam).
Earth Power is there in order to break some Levitate users thanks to Teravolt.
Unfortunately, Dragon Tail will be the last move to connect (due to the negative priority), but Kyurem Black is not the fastest monster anyway so it doesn't really matter. Also, Dragon Tail is still fine with an hindering nature because it is, first of all, an utility move.

56 HP EVs are there to stomach one more Seismic Toss; the remaining EVs are put into Spe and SpA.

This set fully capitalizes on Icium-Z's bone-chilling reputation. I can't possibly think of a better example of "forcing a switch", than with Kyurem-Black, its flagship Icium-Z set is so dangerous and difficult to handle, if not at least respected, that most people don't even expect a Life Orb/Choice Scarf set as simply assuming those can lead to an early 6-0. Ice/ground coverage is amazing coverage in OU, as many examples have shown, netting crucial 4x and 2x weaknesses all throughout the tier. Regular Kyurem has 10 more Spa, however, Teravolt eliminates Rotom-Wash as a switch-in, as its Levitate gets negated. It also has the neat but sort of irrelevant side effect of cleaving through Dragonite's Multiscale.
Metronome lets it push through passive switch-ins over time, potentially freezing and eventually plowing through targets attempting to abuse it as setup fodder, Leftovers reward a more passive playstyle, gifting some free Substitutes across some games and making it more difficult to wear it down over time. I can also see Groundium-Z/Icium-Z to be viable options on this set, as these could provide a pinch power boost in order to push through important walls like Celesteela or Toxapex.

Idk why this isn't a more common set. you just drop Dracos for free on most of the tier. People forget Kyub Has 120 SpA. Good answer to bulky teams that try to play around Icium-Z's zmove by switching to a water. Usually, you just click draco, unless they have a magearna or toxapex, in which case you click EP. Ice Stab is also very nice, not actually that needed. Save focus blast only for when they have Scizor, ferro, or Ttar. Running HP Fire is obviously more consistent, and nabs the OHKO on scizor on the switch.

Not going to bother with Ice STAB calcs. With blizzard, you can get some cools OHKOs, but for the most part, specs IB will kill the stuff you want it to. Ice-weak pokemon almost never come in on Kyub anyway.
