Cycle Six - Tapu Fini
Relatively recently people had realized that, despite the lack of reliable recovery, Tapu Fini is amazing Pokémon in the metagame not only because it is a Defogger that can remove hazards right in the face of Heatran and Ash-Greninja, two very prominent threats, but also thanks to solid bulk, typing, and Misty Terrain which is very useful versus the likes of Rotom-W, Amoonguss, and Kommo-o. In addition, Tapu Fini boasts some stallbreaking capabilities when running the combination of Nature's Madness and Taunt. Currently Tapu Fini has only one really viable set; do you guys know any other good sets? Show them here!

Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge

Knock lets Fini cripple common switch ins such as Tangrowth, Magearna, Ferrothorn, Rotom-W and many others, relieving them of there all important items being used to help check threats or heal. This is amazing support for lots of Pokemon, most notably special attacks who don't appreciate AV such as Ash-Gren and M.Alakazam, and teams weak to pivoting, limiting opponents pivots through removal of bulk or healing items. Most combinations of Taunt, Knock Off, Scald and Moonblat can be run on Fini with Defog, allowing it to be tailored towards the teams needs, though Nature's Madness is not recommended as it Taunt is heavily desired to be ran along side it.

You guys know how the OP is like “Fini is a reliable Defogger and stuff and things”? Yeah, this ditches that completely to become an interesting alternative to Suicune. Notably, this Fini retains its ability to soft check Heatran and Ash-Greninja, but instead of Defogging their hazards, it CMs on their switches and becomes far more threatening. EVs and Nature are highly customizable (as always with Fini, very flexible mon if you know what you’re doing), and the item can even be changed to Waterium Z if you have very strong counters to Heatran and Ash-Greninja. I generally prefer Hydro Pump’s power on these sets, especially with Scald lacking the ability to burn for 5 turns. Pair this with something that mollywhops Ferrothorn (SD Kartana) and faster attackers (ScarfRachi can also give this thing a second chance to sweep if you go that route).
P. S. Counting Sheep what does that Fini spread do?

This set can function as a stallbreaker thanks to the combination of Nature's Madness and Taunt as mentioned, but also as anti-setup thanks to Haze, providing good role compression.
There is a multitude of reasons for running Haze on Tapu Fini.
First, Tapu Fini can use Haze to deter setup sweepers just like Toxapex does. It plays a similar role as Unaware Clefable, except this thing is capable of doing way more chip damage thanks to Nature's Madness.
Second, Tapu Fini can use Icium Z with Haze to fully restore its HP, which provides it with the reliable recovery it was always lacking. Often times this will heal you more than Leftovers would throughout the game and it has the huge added benefit of not having to worry about Knock Off removing your means of recovery. It pairs together well with the effects of Haze itself considering you'll often take damage before getting it off. Haze is already a very useful move and this gives you another secondary reason to run it.
The last moveslot simply depends on if you still need a defogger (even greater role compression) or have the freedom to run Scald to cripple physical attackers some more (outside of terrain) and do some good chip damage.

This is a different take on Tapu Fini's role as a stallbreaker. Mean Look Chansey and Toxapex as they come in so they can't escape, Taunt to stop recovery, then use Nature's Madness to slash their HP. I chose to use Mean Look over Whirlpool for two reasons; Whirlpool has a shaky 85% accuracy, and Mean Look isn't blocked by Storm Drain/Water Absorb-users like Gatrodon and Mantine, respectively, which you could also trap with this set. The choice between Moonblast or Scald depends on what you want Tapu Fini to offensively check.
This can work wonders with a Pursuit-user like Tyranitar to form a double-trapping core, where Fini brings the affected mon down to a low-enough HP to the point where Pursuit from Tyranitar will knock it out.

This looks like a poorly done ‘surprise, I’m offensive!’ choice, and that’s actually true. If you want an surprise offensive pokémon, typically Mew would be the first choice with its signature Z-move helping with its weakness to priority. However, this set does well thanks to Water being actually a good type offensively and defensively. The goal is to force something out while you use Z-Rain Dance to boost your speed and power, and sweep from there, utilising Calm Mind when you have the opportunity to.

Here we have our Suicune....ops, our beloved Tapu Fini with the classic Synergy between Calm Mind and Substitute in order to gain some extra free turns in order to dish out some nice damage after some set-up.
Moonblast+Scald is the dual STAB combo; I'd like to find room for Ice Beam but is not possible.
Although it seems counterintuive, Substitute is nice in order to have another chance to fish the extra effect of our attacking moves.
Calm Mind is really useful both for defence and offence because Fini has good/workable stats all around (except Atk). Although this Tapu is not meant to be a cleaner, that +1 SpA is really useful in many situations.

Specs Tapu Fini makes for an ok lure that can do good damage to or cripple many common switch-ins like Ferrothorn, Chansey, and Tapu Bulu. This set can at worst 2HKO most Pokemon that don’t resist Tapu Fini’s STABs and even some that do, this means Pokemon like Shift Gear Magearna, Tornadus-T, and Clefable can’t take more than a single hit before dying to this thing. Trick gives Tapu Fini some utility against fatter teams that it can’t do too much against, mainly ones utilizing Chansey. Knock Off can also be used over Trick to hinder many of Trick’s target while crippling more Pokemon in the long run. The EVs take a +1 SG Magearna Thunderbolt, 2 Ash Greninja Hydro Pumps, and 2 Hurricanes from max Special Attack Tornadus-T, all from full HP. The EVs also allow Tapu Fini to outspeed up to Modest Heatran. Hidden Power Fire can be dropped for Hidden Power Flying to hit Mega Venusaur or Grass Knot to hit opposing Tapu Fini harder should Tapu Fini have Magnezone support for Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor.

Gotta put down this heat set before we close up for the week. Tricki Trapi Fini is the bane of all item reliant pokemon, especially eviolite users and leftovers users.
The EVS and moves are either A) My team gets 6-0ed by Hawlucha and I need some sort of answer or B) I have a Zapdos on my team so Hawlucha isn't an issue.
Toxic Orb is a nice tech, as it doesn't reveal itself while misty terrain is up, allowing you to permanently poison even natural cure pokemon when terrain is down, ideally stealing leftovers for Fini. Sticky Barb is a second item that can be used which allows consistent damage to everything including steel and poison types even with Misty Terrain up. The issue with this is evident in that it does damage to you as well, so Tricking turn 1 or Turn 2 is important with this item.
Whirlpool works nicely to trap fat stuff and in conjunction with taunt completely shuts it down. Making the tricked item even more effective.
