Psycho cut allows you to run z fight without losing out on the ability to kill amoongus or Venusaur.

+2 252 Atk Kartana Psycho Cut vs. 248 HP / 88 Def Venusaur-Mega: 306-360 (84.2 - 99.1%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

+2 252 Atk Kartana Psycho Cut vs. 248 HP / 56 Def Amoonguss: 486-574 (112.7 - 133.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Simple as that. Also guarantees the kill on pex after rocks at +2 and let’s you hit some annoying mons like Heracross, kommo-o, Lucha w/o seed, and breloom without burning your z.

Effectively the most stupidest set I’m putting up, but since I’m stupid on a daily basis anyways, its fine by me. This is to surprise the more defensive counters to Kartana such as Grass types with HP Fire, Landorus-Thedian, and so on. Effectively, with Calm Mind and investment, you can actually tank a special hit without collapsing and continue boosting or heal. The speed looks worrying, but you’re still outspeeding most walls anyways, so it should be fine.

Playboi Karti (Kartana) @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost

Sub-Toxic Karti is an interesting set which allows Karti to deal with a few of its traditional counters and spread status effectively through a team. Predicting a switch allows you to sub in order to scout what the initial switch-in might be, or if you're confident you can straight up toxic incoming counters such as Zapdos. . Sacred Sword keeps you from being denied by any steel type under the sun. Leaf Blade is necessary as otherwise you are walled by Fini in particular, but also other defensive water types, which just feels awful. It's also just a nice STAB move which can sweep lategame even with this set if you manage to get a beast boost.

Near max HP is used for maximum bulk and substitute HP, the speed evs allow Kart to outspeed all base 100s, including key toxic targets such as Volcarona, Zapdos and both Zard Y and X. The rest is placed into physically defensive bulk to better tank physical hits from things like Lando-T

Edit: Is this fine Egor

Kartana @ Adrenaline Orb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Knock Off / Smart Strike
- Sacred Sword

Genuinely surprised that no one has posted this yet, but this is an absolutely hilarious set that punishes the hell out of teams that heavily rely on Choice Scarf Lando-T to check setup sweepers like Kartana and DD Gyarados. Adrenaline Orb boosts your speed by one stage when you are hit by Intimidate, basically allowing Kartana to outspeed virtually the entire tier. Obviously, this set is basically itemless Kartana if you don't play against Landorus-T, but that thing's so common that it can be a worthwhile gamble to take. Regardless, this set is really fun to use and fuck around with, especially against friends and on ladder.

Apologies if I come across as rude, but I have tried this set many times in the past, and it does NOT work. You lose significant power compared to a Z or band set and you are still revenge killed by the same stuff. It's effectively a one time dragon dance for kartana, which can be nice in some matchups, but most of the time you just get forced out by Zapdos or the like...then you are just running itemless kartana. There is some merit to the surprise factor (but I don't think that is relevant to a sets viability), but if you're looking for some cheeky speed control, you may as well run scarf or tailwind.

I think this belongs here.

Let’s remember to post sets that are not purposefully as bad as possible pls

Sorry for the delay guys. The voting is finally over! By its results, the winner of the Cycle 11 is Fat Defog by Veez . Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. Ok, let's move straight to the next Cycle!

Cycle Twelve - Nihilego
nihilego.gif

Let's toy with a newly ranked Pokémon, Nihilego! Its niche lies in setting Toxic Spikes, and its typing and good special bulk further help it stack hazards by giving it a decent matchup versus some of the best Defoggers like Tornadus-T and Tapu Fini. Another selling point of Nihilego is ability to lure in and eliminate Toxapex, the best and the most common Toxic Spikes absorber. However, Nihilego boasts a fairly wide movepool, and I'm sure that you guys can invent some other hot sets on it. Show them here!

Banned Sets

The deadline is Friday 9th of August. Good luck!

Nihilego @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Wave
- Power Gem
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Choice Scarf Nihilego is perfect to revenge kill weakened threats or even OHKO after Stealth Rocks damage.
Also other slower Scarfes such as Tapu Lele, Landorus Therian and Victini can get threatened by Nihilego as Nihilego is faster than them, it also does pressure mons such as Tornadus Therian so it can't Defog or U-Turn safely.
Sludge Wave revenges the fairy-type pokémon such as Tapu lele, Tapu Koko and OHKOs Tapu Bulu safely, Power Gem can be used against flying-types such as Tornadus Therian and can also be used against Mega-Pinsir.
Grass Knot on the other hand can help against Gastrodon and Seismitoad as both became very popular recently and got either a rise in the VR or got to be ranked recently as well. Hidden Power Ice takes care of Landorus-Therian and Gliscor
as both are otherwise really threatening to Nihilego.

Some Dmg Calcs:
252 SpA Nihilego Sludge Wave vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Lele: 270-320 (96 - 113.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Nihilego Sludge Wave vs. 20 HP / 20 SpD Tapu Koko: 378-446 (132.1 - 155.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Nihilego Sludge Wave vs. 84 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Bulu: 640-756 (211.9 - 250.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Nihilego Hidden Power Ice vs. 84 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Bulu: 136-160 (45 - 52.9%) -- 84.4% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Grassy Terrain recovery

252 SpA Nihilego Grass Knot (80 BP) vs. 192 HP / 0 SpD Seismitoad: 436-516 (109.2 - 129.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Nihilego Grass Knot (60 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Gastrodon: 212-252 (49.8 - 59.2%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Nihilego Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 312-368 (97.8 - 115.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Nihilego Hidden Power Ice vs. 244 HP / 76 SpD Gliscor: 296-352 (84 - 100%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Poison Heal

252 SpA Nihilego Power Gem vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Tornadus-Therian: 282-332 (77.9 - 91.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Nihilego Sludge Wave vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Alakazam-Mega: 147-174 (58.5 - 69.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Nihilego @ Choice Specs
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe (184 SpA / 76 SpD / 248 Spe is also an option for greater bulk)
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Power Gem
- Sludge Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Toxic Spikes / Hidden Power [Ice]

There are very few Rock-resistant Pokemon in the tier, as evidenced by teams being annoyed by Diancie and the Tyranitars. Taking note of this, I decided to see how far Specs Nihi would take me, and while I would still take Electrium Z, its not bad at all. Obviously this Nihi trades Z’s consistency of getting TSpikes up vs all relevant Defoggers for big nuking potential. Power Gem is the crux of the set here, being a strong STAB with relatively few resists, especially after Spikes and SR. Sludge Wave targets certain walls that wouldn’t mind too many Power Gems, like Clef, Bulu and Tang. Thunderbolt deals consistent damage to Celesteela and Toxapex, who otherwise don’t mind the other two moves. Lastly, a filler move can cover the last slot. Toxic Spikes takes advantage of the switches Nihi forces in lieu of Ash-Greninja, while HP Ice forms BoltBeam coverage and hit Garchomp, Gliscor and Landorus-T. Like the other Rocks, Nihi is a solid Flying-resist for even offensive teams, but it separates itself by being faster than Ttar and more specially bulky than Diancie. Magnezone/Golem-A is a wonderful teammate should the double Ground-weakness be covered.

IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Substitute
- Pain Split

- Acid Spray / Clear Smog

Don't ask me why I keep suggesting sub-toxic sets, they just happen to be available and usable. This Nihilego is an interesting case of this as it outspeeds everything up to timid chomp, and has enough HP for 101HP substitutes. It also has access to Pain Split, which lets it whittle at those stally boys all over the place. Acid Spray means you are never outstalled by anything in the long run and helps things revenge kill if needed. Clear Smog does what Clear Smog do and stops setup sweepers from ruining your day 100% of the time. Very open to suggestions on this one for the last moveslot.
