Other OU Replays of excellence

Share your battles here with us. Make sure they're actually good, and not stuff like 6 Wurmples. That includes, "Lol, look at the ladder" replays. This way, people will get a bit more clear vision of OU at its initial phase.

  • Don't post lousy games - This one might seem obvious but it still happens. If you're beating something like a Monotype team, it isn't impressive or interesting, and I can promise I won't accept it. So please don't share a game against an opponent who clearly has 0 idea what they're doing.
  • Don't post haxy games - In a similar vein, if a game is very haxy or has a move where the implementation on PS is incorrect, please don't share it here. If the hax didn't affect the outcome of the game, still say why it didn't and point out that it happened when discussing the replay. But yeah no one wants to see you winning after getting 3 misses and a crit or something.
  • Don't post one-liners - We get it, the game was haxy. No need to post somethin like "lol such hax much luck" or whatever to reply, we're more than capable of viewing the match for ourselves and seeing if it's haxy. Before hitting post please think about whether your post serves any actual purpose or if it's just fluff or pc++ or something. If your post is deemed to be of this nature it will likely be deleted and potentially infracted if the problem persists (up to mod discretion though). The only time having one line is ok is if you're simply deciding to post a replay with a small description.
  • Do add a small description w/ your replay - It's nice that you al have so much to say when talking about your replays, but keep in mind that when they go into the OP the descriptions will be skimmed through. Thus, it would be helpful to include a short 1-2 sentence summary of the highlights of the game alongside your longer description. When making the description also keep it neutral (ex: "Kangaskhan shows her potential" as opposed to "My Kangaskhan shows her potential").
  • Do include your/the opponent's Smogon username if they're on an alt - Unless they ask to remain nameless, better to have the match titled Melee Mewtwo vs Jrp than like Melee Mewtwo vs turd. Note, this is not saying you can't post replays played on alts. Simply clarify who you are when posting it for the benefit of the viewers.
  • Do feel free to discuss a replay - If there was an element of a replay you watched that you really enjoyed, such as a particular play or a Pokemon selection, feel free to say it. In addition, if you think a replay was flawed, feel free to give some constructive criticism. Just make sure you're not just posting one-liners or tl;drs, since those stink up the thread.
  • OU moderators will delete any bad replays/posts
Otherwise, thank you!

Ask for permission from the OU mods before posting a thread. Also the OP needs a lot of work. Locking this for now.

Well, here's a replay back from when I used to be half decent in OU. There were a lot of misplays on both sides (my overpredict with rotom-W, his sacing his own rotom-w for no apparent reason, my sacing of lando-I, etc), but it was by far one of the bast battles that I've ever had. Hax free too :) (unless you count will-o-wisp hitting my conkeldurr on turn 2 hax, in which case I dunno what to say.)

No offence guys but I don't think those are the kind of replays OP and the community in general are looking for... I was excited for this thread because I wanted to see some interesting battles with smart plays and awesome sets which would help me battle better in the future and provide for some entertainment, but all I see so far is some random battles that I could find better ones just by searching on the replays section of PS (and god knows how horrible most of the replays are there)...

Come on lads read the OP, don't post games where the opponent is a low-ranked dude who won't switch out their Gliscor against Mega-Gardevoir or tries to Earth power a Rotom.

I think this replay might help. It was the beginning of the suspect ladder (Like a day in or something) and I met this guy (Suspect Ash) on the ladder. He was running a fairly standard team from preview but had a few curve balls in mono-stab Resttalk Mega Gyarados and Sub Aegislash. I was running a stall team I had finished up a week prior and was still testing through a few things, but this game ended pretty close. For all intents and purposes, we both finished the suspect test in the top 100. (He finished 32 and I'm in 55th?).

The game really came down to whether his Aegi could break my team before I could get it out of the field (Sub aegi takes a while to get off the field) and whether I could stop his Gyarados after losing Skarmory and having Chesnaught devoted to Aegislash.

I made aegis faster after that match to outspeed ches seeds.

I have a couple:

Starting around turn 35, this is one of the "clutchiest" wins I have ever clenched with a lucky flinch. Also, something interesting happened here. Towards the end, Mandibuzz attempted to Knock Off my Garchomp's Scarf, but it was too damaged when he attacked, and the Rough Skin negated Knock Off's effect, and I retain my Scarf.

After tracing Multiscale, Porygon2 takes hits very well, and toxic stalls with ease and regains Multiscale with Recover.

Lastly:

How to "disarm" an Aegislash with Will-o-Wisp and Roost.

I definitely think that it would've made that game 100x more difficult simply by letting you stall it completely. I'm still not sure mono-water gyarados is a great idea, but it almost got me so I can't complain.

Oh what the hell, let's open the closet (I'm not posting any Smogon Tour replays atm, sowwy):

This is me and my good and respected/legendary OU ladderer oseasons displaying some good ol' early XY OU fun. This was during the first suspect testing and there was a sense of urgency to get as many points as possible before we late sleaze bags miss out. As you can see, it was a HO vs HO match up were seasons elected to hire the services of Deo-D and enlisted a group of late BW thugs, while I tried to keep my table clean with Mandibuzz and use a quick of fast and furious hitters to keep offensive pressure and clean up after CharX dinner. This was also a good demonstration of how Extrasensory became very useful on a certain mon.

An early XY match were Mega Pinsir raw fucking muscles is used to tear everything down, and how CC when you got your Crumblers covered is a sweet coverage move. All in all I think my opponent got greedy with his Ditto and expected a switch out when he copied my Mega Pinsir, but nevertheless after a sword dance you might as well say gg while you can, cause everything else is gonna get OHKO'd. I had a better replay that paired him with a Deosharpslash core which is featured in the Victory Road thread, but you can see here what he does without Hazards :)

Ah yes my beloved Clefable + CharX + Scarfed/Dancing Dragon core. The idea here is very simple, you set up on dragon weak/harmless mons, wreck, and then you send in Clefable to set up on their Dragons/Stall, and between ridding themselves of these two they will be left in pieces. The other dragon can be scarfed and ready to roar late game provided that you took care of a few things and is good against set up users, or another set up dragon can allow you to keep your CharX bulky with WoW and can further add pressure on the opponent thanks to Dragon's fantastic neutral coverage with their wide movepool/priorities.

My opponent has chosen wisely to set a reflect seeing what I had, and he even managed to use a suprise Yawn on me, but an Outraging Dragon is nothing to laugh about, and soon his team had lost 3 mons with the reflect still on. Afterwards Clefable was sent in against Hax and well, yea.

After Thundrus managed to do some good work early game and I foolishly tossed my defogger for no reason, and his mega and my mega killed eachother, he was left with a good set of mons, at least on paper: Kyube, Rotom-W, Landrous-T and Azumarill, but against Clefable they were worth nothing.

This idea is the root of all evil, it's not even funny, soliciting nervous laughters in the #pokemon channel and even worse reactions on the ladder. What if...BP and Swagplay made sweet love? What if all those boosts were defensive and healing in nature and they all went to....Klefki? I didn't even manage to complete the team in that replay but you can see what could have been.

Edit: Misspelled frakking everything and linked to the good cores thread on VR.

Is it really hard for people to understand that this thread is for good replays? None of the ones that have been posted have been good barring the Aj v Ash replay, because both players actually knew what they were doing and it didn't result in a one sided match. With this said, I'm going to back Chou here and turn this thread into a OU Replay Competition, similar to the one that was hosted in BW. This will force people to post good, competitive matches rather than one sided matches where you sweep from turn 5.

YO FACE!!!!!!, if you could use the same format as this thread. I'll lock it for now, just PM me when you have it updated and I can reopen the thread. Unless you prefer for me to host it.
