Played 2 more rounds and the matchmaker seems to have already decided to keep me matched to 2.9plats or low diamonds >:| there seems to be quite a huge variance in skill here too lols, kinda like the plat-gold issue i guess. Also probably cos I haven't deviated far enough from the plat-diamond margin as I keep flopping between each of it. First game was LiJiang and it was pretty terrible lmao !! Getting triple gold including heals as Zen *_* and it was only a mere 3 elims in 2 rounds was how bad we were getting rolled. I didn't even land a fat transcendence. Swapped off to monkey and helped win the third round but heh the other team finally decided to go pretty anti Winston in the 4th and rip what do.
Second game was Illios. We had a Hanzo who dropped from masters all the way to 2.9k lols. No idea if decay or he lost all the way down. But lol it worked so w/evs. Team looked really shaky at first and conceded 80% before capping the point back. But we rolled 2-0 afterwards. Won 3-1 in the end. It's like idk people seem to have varying performance and skill even at this mmr. Well tbf the variance is still pretty huge in general I guess. I did regain some confidence in my own DM by solo killing annoying Genjis who have no business trying to kill their master >:D lmao. But still I haven't got into the zone to consciously avoid Winston's jump, though my default positioning itself is already generally sufficient that jumpers have a huge gap to close or awkward jump angles to reach me. Can be improved on tho... Also lmao the most common thing I died to was freaking getting pinned by Rein on Illios xD Like I was actively shooting at him and I just stare at him while he charge into my face hahahaaaa. What am I doing lols.
Oh yea for the first time I saw someone dodging the comp game 9.9 lmao I hope they do patch it like next week or something, should be an easy fix. Apparently game dodging became a common thing after a streamer did it on stream. So Z_Z pls be responsible streamers, esp if you're well known lmao! Basically for those who don't know, people can exploit the 1min thing to cancel the game without suffering the rank loss that comes with it.
I guess soloq support is fine as long as there's a semblance of a front line in the game and people aren't actively calling each other out. I'll probably switch off support if there's no reasonable front line I guess. Kinda hard to game sense as support if there's no breathing room. Might as well just do the dirty work yourself then.
Also lol I forgot I was playing at 20 tick settings cos I was using phone hotspot :X it's pretty playable though, or I play on 20 tick too often heh. And blizzcon week hype !
Anyway I personally don't think playing to carry in soloq is a good way of playing it, though I think I alr mentioned that long ago. There's a huge limit to the amount of coordination that can be done in soloq. Finer coordination is pretty much impossible even if you have a pretty communicative team. But communication isn't the same as coordination. I also believe that for soloq, it's better to play with offensive setups and coordination than reactive/defensive ones. Stuff like Graviton combo, beyblade, etc are all easy to understand and execute. Defensive coordination like forcing Ana to pop nade, then use Trans as a counter, etc aren't as straightforward to execute, or using Earthshatter as a defensive negation ult, which doesn't seem appealing to do most of the time. Plus there's usually less time to set up a defensive coordination. It's kinda hard to tell the team to use Blizzard first, then Gravtion, then Earthshatter, etc, and expect them to be able to use them right or change the plan on the fly. Just keep going for offensive wipe options if possible, even if you're defending. In a sense, it's easier to wipe than to block a wipe, at least in soloq.
I feel like soloq is more of a just for fun thing where you DM people to death most of the time, and is pretty fine if you're a good dps player. Just my own opinion though lols. It's an indicator of DM skills rather than overall skill, despite how OW tends to reward non-DM skills more in its current state. Anyway, at least till like Masters maybe ?? idk I haven't played high diamond this season but just from observing. I have personally known people who just go up to masters just by pure dming so lol. DMing is really valuable in soloq.
