Overwatch - Brigitte used FLAIL!

i fucking can't climb right now holy shit, I've never gotten so frustrated over a game before, ranked is an absolute shithole. it's so fucking bad. sombra instalocks, pharahs that can't be dealt, widows that don't miss a single shot and wipe entire teams... goddamn this patch is fucking cancer lmao, why blizzard couldn't wait one week to release it in off-season is beyond me.

all i wanted was master man, i was 60 points away at some point, but nah.. sombra instalock. "so others dont pick her!" "i wanna try her out :D"

Can anyone confirm that the votes on cards at the end of the match affect your hidden mmr? A pro just said that, which is why he always votes for himself, so you get matched with better players.

Don't want to start self voting due to a lie

That really doesn't sound right.
Also just got called "wow really nice Sombra" after an easy win using her :^)

No, I'm pretty sure that's been disproven. It's more of a peer recognition thing as opposed to a skill ranking thing.

Just got Overwatch on PC as well so now I'm playing with the big boys. Hit me up at Ghostwheel#1138 if you want to play with someone bad but willing to learn. Damn shame the levels and skins from Xbox don't carry over even though I linked my battletag but w/e.

Ive absolutely fallen in love with new dva. You can feel just by playing her that shes really good right now. Id even go as far as to say shes as viable as zarya. Shes just amazing as a solo queue pick as shes a good counter to practically everything that got buffed while her counters got nerfed. Soldier, torb, widow, mercy, etc are all just total dva bait while shes a solid answer to many other common problems for uncoordinated teams like junkrat and bastion. Her ult is great for clearing a point, wasting nano time, etc and she has fantastic stalling potential. High mobility is great for retreating from lost team fights to avoid trickling and defense matrix just has a retarded amount of utility. Shes also good against sombra because sombra shoots marshmallows against armor. I really feel shes a top tier tank in the current patch and im so, so happy blizzard made the changes they did to her.

The other part of this i really like is that shes actually a low stress high fun carry hero i can play competently in competitive. Dont get me wrong, ana and zarya are fun and all sometimes but good lord it feels stressful to do sometimes. Ill obviously switch off dva to like zarya or something if im getting countered but she just feels like a really solid overall choice.

Pro zarya tips if you want them:
1) Don't feel like you need to activate your shields as soon as you get them. They're unique in that you can get more value by waiting for the right moment, instead of something like 76's rockets where you can get value basically every time you use them.

2) Activate your own shield after you engage in combat, so they're already firing upon you. If you activate it before you engage in combat, they could just ignore you for the 2 seconds and give you no energy

3) Only use projected barrier on teammates that you know will recieve damage shortly. Diving genjis and winstons are the best candidates, not something like the zenyatta behind the rein shield

4) Use primary fire for most, if not all, single targets. It can output more consistent damage and is easier to aim. It can also bypass deflect and defense matrix. Use secondary fire for out of range enemies, juggling, or, of course, groups.

5) Coordinate Graviton with someone else's ultimate, or with other teammates. Used alone, it's pretty weak tbh

Hope this helps!

Ahaha, no idea why you did but I don't really need Zarya tips and stuff. The only thing I'm not comfortable with Zarya previously, is her beam but that thing is super good now and reliable. Also in the past, her right clicks was easier for me to aim :p unless it's like tanks. But that's different now woo!!!!

On one hand you have diamond dps players who have really bad hitscan aim and can't deal with pharah, on the other you have actually annoying widows. Comp is basically so luck based as to what teammates you get lol. While the skill variance is huge in like gold/plat, it is still pretty huge in diamond even though it's probably less. Pretty saddening Z_Z
comp imo is just glorified qp haha and for farming cp. There isn't really a point in playing comp too seriously because it isn't even near representative of serious play either sighs :/ only partyq is anywhere near what proper comp should feel like. In a way that's a good thing I guess because the design of OW favors teamwork a lot more than individual DM. okay just me rambling~

That really doesn't sound right.
Also just got called "wow really nice Sombra" after an easy win using her :^)

HOW do you not autotilt teammates by picking Sombra. That's a pleasent surprise hahaha. Soloq/partyq on that ?

Anyhow, I feel like Zarya's energy isn't as important as it was due to how the beam is so good now ? Her damage is pretty nice even at an okay energy. I watched Mighty Storm vs Lunatic Hai and MS's Zarya kept building Graviton before LH Ana during KOTH lol. It's gonna be interesting observing how the ult change comes into play. Ult building isn't as straightforward as before. Typically I used to track ult build at a more constant manner, with some adjustment on player performance. Like more or less you can expect a certain ult to be up by a certain time. However, now it seems pretty messy. A great DPS could even build ult faster than Ana consistently. There's a greater need to identify which enemy is doing more damage etc to properly estimate all enemy ults. Also there's a greater reward/punishment for building ults faster/slower. A Dragonblade built before defensive support ults can just devastate and make the disparity between both teams larger, even though 25% isn't that huge of a change in terms of raw time to build. It's about the change in window of times where ults are useful, ults are less useful, if you get what I mean. Teams who can abuse this change to a greater degree would be able to stomp. Screwing up an ult has a greater cost, not just in time to build, but with synching ults as well.

As for Sombra, I personally feel like pros haven't really developed tactics and compositions with her to be confident in using her yet. She isn't as strong a flanker as Tracer/Genji, and isn't that good to stay with the team full time like McCree/S76 either. To kinda quote Harsha, while EMP may be really strong it might not be worth running her because of her base kit. Her base kit is really middling and out of place. At most she'd replace Mei in some situations maybe? Does anyone know if healthpacks give ult on self damage heals btw? Since healer ults don't build from healing self damage. Just curious because that would open up strategies for last point holds/pushes if it does build ult. Does healthpack discriminate hahaha.

Healer ults have been fixed btw. Not sure how long ago but an official post has been made 6h ago. And as for anyone interested, Talespin left nv.

I was soloquing, I played Reaper in defense on Volskaya, got gold all, switched to Torb on point B and kept killing stuff and providing armour for everyone. No one did say anything in offense since I did real good on defense, so I went Sombra, flanked on the left, hacked health packs and then killed a healer, bam, we were in. They were really happy!

I still get dps ults really fast. I just played a qp match with Hanzo in which I got 2 ults before Ana used Nano Boost lol

I'm fairly sure Sombra builds ult out of self-heal on health packs. I think she's mostly viable in Koth in a 3 dps comp, in 2 cp defense and in some 2cp attacks and payload maps.

ayy was referring to self damage like damaging yourself with Pharah rockets and stuff, cos healers don't build ult from healing self damage, only enemy inflicted damage. So was wondering if that interaction exists with Sombra.

I actually am starting to think EMP is a liability ult except on the very last stretch on a payload map. If EMP is popped the enemy team can't panic ult to counter. If you use any other ult aside from EMP the enemy team is going to pretty much keep advantage the entire rest of the game.

Yeah, EMP must be used without any other ult to finish off Zen and Zarya and to go through a choke rendering Reinhardt useless. It's also good for koth last percentage moments and last point pushes, yeah

Played like 4 more games as purely s76. ahahaha as usual Plat is full of dumbass blame gaming lol. I don't even man. Like Rein charges in, dies. Players get hooked because said Rein charges in for no reason or puts down a health shield against a Hog for no reason, and sureeeeee they blame the DPS. LOL really? They think there's anything we can do against Hog??? Lmao Plat is pure torture man. And yea DPS or death ball DPS are really limited by how not dumb the tanks are. Rein repeatedly dying to things he shouldn't be dying to, and getting gold elims is just 9.9 stop freaking gimping the team to look 'glorious in combat'. They simply don't understand the concept of space making and holding. A lot of dumb things man lol. Also heck even supports can be pretty dumb sometimes. Had a support blaming for trickles when he was so out of position himself I have to try overextending to save him and nopeeeee he calls it trickle death 9.9 Also lol Mercy saying protect me pls. Hello there's no such thing as protect Mercy against Dragonblade unless you have a defensive support ult, you're called McCree/Zarya/Rein/Hog. If you want to play Mercy, be prepared to die against Dragonblade unless the Genji is dumb and dies to damage and not even get stunned. Also Mercy sticking to heal beam against Dragonblade on 200HP heroes when she probably could have saved herself if she used damage amp. If people don't know their things then don't say anything ???? Lmao. /neverendingrant

Anyway, S76 was really fun lol and sprint is sooooo good for positioning etc. Also it's the panic button when you see a hog and you hope he has slow reaction and doesn't hook you while you run away xD Damage is really good. I'm not that good a hitscan track aimer but still it melts things so fast. I must confess though, 90% of my final blow kills are Tact Visor kills ahahahhaaha don't murder me pls. I just tend to have quick flick engagements with anyone I see to build damage and ult. A lot of people I shoot at they either disengage or I disengage. Most of the people I shoot at are people poking around corners and for some reason not standing behind a Rein shield, or a flanker. I tend to position near my supports, heck sometimes even behind them so I can save them from flanks and stuff, so I can't chase players who run back to enemy lines. Many 'get back here >:|' fights hahaha. Feels like Junkrat but unless you land the first 4 shots as headshots, it's pretty hard to quickly kill, for me anyway. It does farm some enemy support ults but ehhhhhh Tact Visor is also a really good ult to trade with. And oh gosh people are still Nano Boosting Rein why hahaha. Boosting Rein opens up a huge hole in your team's structure, and without that speed boost, enemy Lucio can just negate your own Lucio amp with his and just kite Rein. Unless Rein is already super deep in for some reason, he's a pretty poor boost target bar some cases where you need to use that defense boost.

--

Yea EMP seems to favor end game situations. The opportunity cost of running Sombra is like the same as running Mercy.

Finding boost targets is a lot harder now. It pretty much mandates you combo it with something else to get full value. Ive been boosting dva and winston a good amount, as they seem the best targets for non-ult combo situations. Nano reaper is still kind of a thing but you need lucio to speed boost amp it. Genji soldier mccree are still great targets if thetly have their ult, and nano whole hog isnt bad at the very least even if its not as good as before. Ive noticed that you just really need to be coordinated a lot more now because of how hard it is to use nano.

Best NanoReaper is what I already did with randoms anyway: Position yourself with Shadowstep, wait for the cue, boost and jump on them ulting already, no speed boost required. Works in plat perfectly.

PS: I just watched https://www.twitch.tv/gosutv_ow/v/101537820 and their teams used the Sombra comps I had thought to be best lol. I feel like a pro tactical player now!

This is a nice watch. Both teams are really good and worth watching. Misfits has been pretty good with innovation. And guess what, they did pull out the mid air TP EMP :) it's basically an insta-win which is what they did, unless Sombra screws up and misses someone in the EMP. Their cancer 321 comp is really interesting. Lucio did really good job of protecting Ana, and Hidan himself is a really great Ana who will take 1v1s. Quad dive from misfits on koth is great. It removes Zen so easily or they can demolish a diver enganging for too long. Zebbo did miss Lucio/Zen on EMP before but it's KOTH, and EMPs outside the point isn't as good because KOTH is where scattering isn't as bad.

Rofl torb pick by misfit defense. It's not bad tbh. He carried his weight as torb, and imo the only reason why misfit lost that defense was twoez turned the fight around somehow. HAHAHAHAHA what the heck was gibraltar. misfits doing a full no healer stall hahahahaha. That was too hilarious. Faze should have attempted a Sombra combo, though Zombs and Shadowburn did really well. It's an instawin thing, just EMP once the cart goes under the arc and you can EMP everything. Also wowwwwwwwwwww Misfits just did a Faze and pulled Gibraltar HAHAHAHAHAHA. Just whut m8. Second time round, no idea why Zebo is solo diving Zen/S76. Sombra isn't good at solo dive, especially not with a pocket S76. If they double/triple dived misfits would have just won.

Good watch, though both sides made some mistakes here and there. But it was really interesting and yea hybrid dive for the most part. Things will continue to shake up.

You can't use nano boost as an initiation ult now. You have to wait for your Reinhardt or Reaper, Dva, whatever to already be in a fighting, being hit and hitting back, before you boost them, instead of boosting them before you go all YOLO on their asses.

That being said it still works exactly the same w/ Genji anyway tbh

The Gibraltar hold was glorious, the torb worked pretty well too... but they choked and did the wrong decision with Sombra on the last attack.
Also 10 hots games, Oni soon...!

I am totally enjoying my free weekend of Overwatch during which I definitely do not have to work 12 hours everyday the next three days and all.

New high of 3118, maybe I can soloq to masters in 5 days?!

Today I've realised you really can carry with Lúcio. We were in Hollywood and defended pretty well, they didn't take the point. Attack turn, we poke a lot, I use speed boost amp it up to attack several times, use first ult defensively on the point but everyone's just disorganised. I survive every single time while my team let's themselves get killed. So we are there, 4 ults charged, 30 seconds left, poking at the gate, I assess the situation, turn to speed boost (was healing to get ult off of poke), break it down, amp it up and yell on mic "now, now, now, get there and combine ults on point!". They run, enemy soldier on the passage to behind the gates uses tac visor, so I got here with speed and ult shield still active, boop him, turn to the corner, point is empty, and I keep soldier occupied with me, booping and healing now and we capture it. Lúcio really is a great initiator and probably the best hero to shot call and organise pushes.

I wouldn't say you can carry with lucio honestly, like at that point what carried your team was your shotcalling ability and the fact that you kept soldier busy (otherwise soldier would've rammed ur team cuz ppl STILL dont realize u cant give him space) is what won you the fight not exactly lucio himself. I do the same sometimes when I play dps, I tell our lucio to switch to speed and ult to initiate, and it would often work out if he actually listens.

but yeah there's a reason lucio is usually the shotcaller in pro teams, since he requires 0 mechanical skill he can keep an eye out for everything, keeping track of enemy ults/where enemies are/your own ults/etc etc instead of focusing too much on the fight itself.

You're right. It's easier to shotcall on Lúcio since, even though your decision making must be excellent (when to switch heal/speed, when to amp it up, when to ult) and somewhat mechanical skill for avoiding death, you can just be there, existing, looking at everything and deciding what's best to do.

Dunno if anyone has mentioned this, but Talespin has left EnvyUs last week. He sent out a tweet saying that he wasn't happy on the team, and some indications lead to a dispute between him and Taimou? Sad to see him leave, he is one of my favourite DPS players. He says he plans to continue playing Overwatch. Maybe this opens up a door for IDDQD to join EnvyUs, the only problem is both IDDQD and Taimou are hit scan players, leaving them less flexible on heros like Genji, and Pharah.
