Panamaxis vs Diploman; A Fight to the Finish

This is an epic battle I had when I found myself against Panamaxis for the second time in a row during the Deoxys-e times. We both used the same teams, so we both knew eachother's a little. This is the fight:

The team I used:

What I say inside the battle log is in italics.
What Panamaxis says inside the battle log is underlined.
My out of battle comments are in green.
Panamaxis' out of battle comments are in purple
What my Pokemon do is red.
What Panamaxis' Pokemon do is blue.
"The sandstorm rages" will be in orange
Pokemon we both have will have a * on it's name.

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause
Diploman sent out Deoxys-e (lvl 100 Deoxys-e).
panamaxis sent out Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).
Deoxys-e is exerting its pressure!
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!
panamaxis switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).

Deoxys-e used Trick.
Deoxys-e obtained Choice Scarf!

Jirachi obtained Choice Scarf!
The sandstorm rages.
Deoxys-e is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Deoxys-e lost 6% of its health.

---
I wanted to make Hippowdon pretty useless for the match, but I failed sadly.
We had played a match just before this and I expected him to trick so I switched to my Choice Scarf Jirachi.
---
panamaxis: lol
Deoxys-e used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!

Jirachi used Trick.
Jirachi obtained Choice Scarf!

Deoxys-e obtained Choice Scarf!

The sandstorm rages.
Deoxys-e is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Deoxys-e lost 6% of its health.

---
My attempt to set up Stealth Rock succeeded, this'll come handy throughout the match. I'm assuming he Tricked expecting a switch.
I thought he would switch so I trick to no avail.
---
Deoxys-e used Superpower.
Jirachi lost 23% of its health.

Deoxys-e's attack was lowered.
Deoxys-e's defence was lowered.

Jirachi used Trick.
Jirachi obtained Choice Scarf!

Deoxys-e obtained Choice Scarf!

The sandstorm rages.

Deoxys-e is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Deoxys-e lost 6% of its health.

---
I guessed that Deoxys would be dead weight for the rest of the match, so I just tried to let off as much damage as I could. I guess he expected a switch again.
I didn’t think that Deoxys would stay in after setting up Stealth Rock, but yet again my over predictions fail.
---
Deoxys-e used Trick.
Deoxys-e obtained Choice Scarf!

Jirachi obtained Choice Scarf!
Jirachi used Iron Head.

Deoxys-e lost 73% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.

Deoxys-e is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Deoxys-e lost 6% of its health.

---
I expected a switch, but he decided to attack, unfortunately.
I finally conclude that he won't switch and option for an Iron Head, so this time he overpredicts and I gain the advantage.
---
Deoxys-e used Superpower.

Jirachi lost 15% of its health.

Deoxys-e's attack was lowered.
Deoxys-e's defence was lowered.

Jirachi used Iron Head.

Deoxys-e lost 3% of its health.
Diploman's Deoxys-e was crushed by an iron skull.

The sandstorm rages.

---
Deoxys was great, it weakened Jirachi slightly, while also providing support and setting up Stealth Rock. Good job Deoxys.
I’m 6-5 up, but Jirachi has lost about half his health and he has Stealth Rock up, so I'm not ahead by far.

Diploman switched in Gyarados* (lvl 100 Gyarados ?).
Gyarados*'s intimidate cut Jirachi's attack!

panamaxis switched in Cradily (lvl 100 Cradily ?).
Pointed stones dug into Cradily.
Cradily lost 12% of its health.

Gyarados* used Dragon Dance.
Gyarados*'s attack was raised.

The sandstorm rages.

Gyarados* is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gyarados* lost 6% of its health.

Cradily's leftovers restored its health a little!
Cradily restored 6% of its health.

---
My Gyarados easily survives that Jirachi's Iron Head, I decided to set up on it, to at least get one boost.
Gyarados is not good for me as I usually use Jirachi to cripple it, but being stuck on Iron Head is no use to me, so I switch to Cradily to hit it with a STAB super effective attack.
---
Gyarados* used Dragon Dance.
Gyarados*'s attack was raised.
Gyarados*'s speed was raised.

Cradily used Rock Slide.
It's super effective!

Gyarados* lost 55% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.

Gyarados* is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gyarados* lost 6% of its health.

Cradily's leftovers restored its health a little!
Cradily restored 6% of its health.

---
A Cradily, not much trouble, but if it has something like Stockpile, I'm dead. I decided to set up since I'd survive whatever it used.
Excellent, seeing as he didn’t attack and Rock Slide did over 50% I should be okay.
---
Gyarados* used Waterfall.
Cradily lost 72% of its health.
Cradily used Rock Slide.
It's super effective!

Gyarados* lost 33% of its health.
Diploman's Gyarados* was buried. Rest in Peace, while in Pieces.

The sandstorm rages.

Cradily's leftovers restored its health a little!
Cradily restored 6% of its health.

---
I dealt a large amount of damage, while Gyarados was stuck under a mountain of boulders.
Cradily takes a hefty amount of damage and Gyarados joins his buddy Deoxys underground.

Diploman switched in Gallade (lvl 100 Gallade ?).

panamaxis switched in Hippowdon (lvl 100 Hippowdon ?).

Gallade is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gallade lost 6% of its health.

Hippowdon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Hippowdon restored 6% of its health.

---
Damn. My best way to handle that beast is...Togekiss, since Gyarados is down.
There is no way I am leaving Cradily in against Gallade. I could switch to Gyarados to absorb the Close Combat, but I want to get Stealth Rock up as soon as possible so I switch to Hippowdon.

---
Diploman switched in Togekiss (lvl 100 Togekiss ?).

Hippowdon used Yawn.

Togekiss became drowsy!

The sandstorm rages.

Togekiss is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Togekiss lost 6% of its health.

Hippowdon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Hippowdon restored 6% of its health.

---
Crap, Yawn will hurt Togekiss badly. If he switches, I wasted one perfectly usable Pokemon. Please don't switch, so I can Grass Knot, sleep and die.
I decide to Yawn when I should have Stealth Rocked, but seeing as its Togekiss I should be able to live a hit, Stealth Rock and Slack Off the damage.
---
Togekiss used Grass Knot.
It's super effective!

Hippowdon lost 72% of its health.
panamaxis' Hippowdon collapsed in pain.

The sandstorm rages.

Togekiss is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Togekiss lost 6% of its health.
Togekiss fell asleep!

---
Yes! My first kill!!! This is getting interesting, not a total loss on my part.
I decide to bring in Tyranitar to pursuit the now sleeping Togekiss as I know he will switch and it should do a hefty amount of damage.

4 - 5
---
panamaxis switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Pointed stones dug into Tyranitar.
Tyranitar lost 12% of its health.
Tyranitar used Pursuit.

Togekiss lost 81% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.

Torkoal is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Torkoal lost 6% of its health.
Torkoal's leftovers restored its health a little!
Torkoal restored 6% of its health.

---
Togekiss wasn't doing too well, so I decided to switch to my physical wall. Great thing he didn't use Stone Edge. Phew.
Last time we played Torkoal exploded on Gyarados and I don't want to risk losing Gyarados or Gallade will sweep my team. I figure with a resistance to fire and Explosion, Heatran should be a good switch.
---
panamaxis switched in Heatran (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Pointed stones dug into Heatran.
Heatran lost 12% of its health.

Torkoal used Explosion.
It's not very effective...

Heatran lost 45% of its health.

Diploman's Torkoal did some suicide bombing.

The sandstorm rages.

Heatran's leftovers restored its health a little!
Heatran restored 6% of its health.

---
This is when the past hinders me. I knew he had a Gyarados, so I hoped it'd come in to take an Earth Power.
My hunch is correct as Torkoal explodes on Heatran, which I assume was aimed for Gyarados. I am up 5-3, but Diploman has the momentum.

3 - 5
---
Diploman switched in Togekiss (lvl 100 Togekiss ?).
Togekiss is fast asleep!

Heatran used Flamethrower.

Togekiss lost 6% of its health.
Diploman's Togekiss was grilled.

The sandstorm rages.

Heatran's leftovers restored its health a little!
Heatran restored 6% of its health.

---
I remembered from last match that he carried a Subbing Heatran. Lucky thing he didn't sub.
I completely forgot that Togekiss was asleep and I make a foolish move, choosing to use Flamethrower instead of Substitute. I am up 5-2 now and am feeling pretty confident that I can pull out the win.

2 - 5
---
panamaxis: crap shouldve subbed
Diploman switched in Gallade (lvl 100 Gallade ?).
Diploman: lol
Gallade used Close Combat.
It's super effective!

panamaxis' Heatran was shattered.

Gallade's defence was lowered.
Gallade's special defence was lowered.

The sandstorm rages.

Gallade is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gallade lost 6% of its health.

---
Without his Hippowdon, my Gallade can get a free kill. Nice one, Gallade.
Gallade comes in and I don't want to switch Gyarados into a ThunderPunch, so I let Heatran take one for the team. 4-2.

2 - 4
---
panamaxis switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.

Diploman switched in Swampert (lvl 100 Swampert ?).

Jirachi used Iron Head.
It's not very effective...

Swampert lost 17% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
---
I knew he'd try to kill Gallade. Gallade is too useful against his team to sacrifice. Swampert can take almost anything it sends at him. BandPert for the win!

---
panamaxis switched in Cradily (lvl 100 Cradily ?).
Pointed stones dug into Cradily.
Cradily lost 12% of its health.

Swampert used Stone Edge.
Cradily lost 22% of its health.
panamaxis' Cradily was lowered down to a mere fossilized seed.

The sandstorm rages.
---
I wanted to kill the Gyarados he had used last match, but killing Cradily was good enough.
From our last battle I know this Swampert is Choice Banded and it has the potential to take out all my remaining team members on a predicted switch. With Jirachi being too valuable I switch in Cradily, my least useful pokemon to take the hit.

2 - 3
---
panamaxis switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.

Diploman switched in Gallade (lvl 100 Gallade ?).
Jirachi used Zen Headbutt.

Gallade lost 57% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.

Gallade is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gallade lost 6% of its health.

---
I was pretty sure Gallade would live Zen Headbutt, and fortunately, it did. Jirachi, prepare to feel a whole new level of pain.
I still don’t want to risk Gyarados to a Stone Edge so I switch in Jirachi to revenge kill it.
---
Diploman switched in Swampert (lvl 100 Swampert ?).

Jirachi used Zen Headbutt.

Swampert lost 35% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.

---
Wow. Zen Headbutt did alot to BandPert, even though it was unboosted. Jirachi is first on my list of what to take down.

---
panamaxis switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Pointed stones dug into Tyranitar.
Tyranitar lost 12% of its health.

Swampert used Waterfall.
It's super effective!

Tyranitar lost 75% of its health.
panamaxis' Tyranitar drowned in the seas of the Choice Banded Swampert.

The sandstorm rages.
---
Yes! 1 down, 2 to go. Swampert and Gallade are all I have left. This is close to hopeless...
I try to take out Gallade, but incomes Swampert which takes quite a bit from Zen Headbutt.

2 - 2
---
panamaxis switched in Gyarados (lvl 100 Gyarados ?).
Gyarados's intimidate cut Concentrate's attack!
Pointed stones dug into Gyarados.
Gyarados lost 25% of its health.

Diploman switched in Gallade (lvl 100 Gallade ?).

Gyarados used Waterfall.

Gallade lost 24% of its health.
Diploman's Gallade fainted.

The sandstorm rages.

Gyarados is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gyarados lost 6% of its health.
Gyarados's leftovers restored its health a little!
Gyarados restored 6% of its health.

---
Gallade did it's job, now it's all up to Swampert to do this.
I switch in Gyarados to take the Waterfall and I take out Gallade with my own Waterfall. I am up 2-1 and he shouldn’t be able to take out both Jirachi and Gyarados because of his Choice Band.

1 - 2
---
Diploman switched in Swampert (lvl 100 Swampert ?).

Gyarados used Waterfall.
Swampert lost 32% of its health.
Swampert used Stone Edge.
It's super effective!

Gyarados lost 71% of its health.

The sandstorm rages.

Gyarados is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Gyarados lost 4% of its health.
panamaxis' Gyarados fainted in a large cloud of dust.

---
Thanks, Sandstorm! The final showdown, Jirachi and Swampert...I'm dead.
No point in switching out now. I Waterfall Swampert for some good damage, which puts it in kill range for Zen Headbutt. Even if Zen Headbutt misses, Stone Edge won’t OHKO, so we say our good games as we both know what will happen next.

---
panamaxis switched in Jirachi (lvl 100 Jirachi).
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi.
Jirachi lost 6% of its health.

panamaxis: gg
Diploman: gg ;/
Jirachi used Zen Headbutt.

Jirachi's attack missed!

Swampert used Stone Edge.
It's not very effective...
A critical hit!

Jirachi lost 43% of its health.
panamaxis' Jirachi was sent back to the stars it came from.

Diploman wins!
Diploman: lolwtf?
panamaxis: no way....
panamaxis: oh well

Wow...I actually won! It critted, and Zen Headbutt missed...what's the chance of that? Good Game.

Are.....you...kidding...me? I am in shock. I couldn’t believe it. Jirachi misses with Zen Headbutt and Swampert critical hits Jirachi to take me out, leaving the final score as 1-0 to Diploman. It was a great game, with little hax until the end, but on the upside, it makes one unexpected twist to a great battle. Congratulations to Diploman for pulling out the win and for one of the best battles I’ve ever had.

Panamaxis' Team:

Diploman's Pros and Cons

Pros:

Deoxys-E, for setting up Stealth Rock and supporting my team.
BandPert, for doing the finishing blow, and taking out alot of Panamaxis' team.
Togekiss, for defeating Hippowdon.
Gallade, for eliminating Heatran.
Sandstorm, for killing Gyarados.
Panamaxis, for being an awesome and skilled opponent, and allowing me to warstory this fight.

Cons:

Gyarados*, for not doing much other than weakening Cradily.
Torkoal for blowing up the wrong thing.
The ending hax, for allowing me to win just due to luck, even though it made the battle more intense.

Panamaxis' Pros and Cons

Pros

No major hax except for the last move.
Diploman, for being an awesome and skilled opponent and for warstorying this fight.

Cons

Sandstorm for taking out my Gyarados.
Me for overpredicting against Deoxys-e.
Me for not making Heatran use Substitute against Togekiss.

Oh GOD the colors hurt! Its like the entire cast of Sesame Street vomited! My eyes bleed!

The match really doesn't have to do much with the current metagame, since Deo-E is there, and though I didn't read it all since I couldn't look at that many bright colors at once, the commentary seems sparse and unhelpful. You should explain your thoughts, not tell us what just happened.

Change the colors please... at least make them nice and dull...

At least the ending had a nice twist! XD

The colors did seem excessive, though. I have no problem with the battle text itself (in fact, I might have been the one to start that trend :P), but was it really necessary to bold the commentary along with those colors? I don't think you have to do that much to tell who is who...

This battle did remind me of the issue with Trick, though. I couldn't get that out of my head as I read this. I believe everyone here knows the problem so I won't go into it further. Just let Doug fix it when he can. (Or has it finally been fixed? I haven't been on in a few days...)

Really either have the battle log in black, bolded and have the commentary unbolded and in a colour or use unbold the battle log to make it easier for some of our eyes.

That battle was pretty good though I enjoyed it.

If you made the comments the same colour as the log of that person, it would be a lot clearer as to who's commenting.

I liked it very much, halfway through I thought it would be hax-free, but that last move really turned the tables. Great battle, but colours were a bit to flashy. This may be a dumb question but did you add your opponents thoughts or did he send them to you?

I like it more when you get to know what you are going to do, and why, instead of getting to know what you did the last turn, and only sometimes why.
Overall it was pretty nice, and a fun twist at the end.

ending was kind of obvious. in fact i'd be more shoocked if zen headbutt just killed. the whole spacing thing let it go away, so did the whole 'well gg etcetc'

I think this battle shows how much the trick glitch influences the game.

@die eter: I sent him my thoughts.

Gen. Empoleon, I've unbolded the text, so hopefully that'll ease reading for you and others.

I'll remember all this help for if I make any more warstories.

Yes, it does. This needs to be fixed immediately, as it really breaks the move Trick at the moment, since it can pretty much be used with no consequence at the moment.

I love seeing warstories from both sides. The colors aren't all that bad to me; I found them useful. Good battle.
