Past Generation Analyses: Reservation Index v2

Yo mods chill.

I formally declare that I hereby reserve Wall OU Aerodactyl, Offensive OU Omastar and Rest Tauros.

It's not like suddenly after 30 years of metagame someone is going to post an analysis within 3 days of mine. I think this process is moreso designed for fresher formats and for the seasons that immediately follow release, where there's 500 pokemon to cover, and dozens of collaborators.

Also, I get the idea of reservations in that case, as an option, please explain to me why it would be required to reserve something before posting an analysis, the act of posting the analysis is the act of reserving it.

Additionally, I'm posting Works In Progress, obviously. If you have criticisms or it isn't up to standards, why close it? Why does it need to be posted in the forum in publishing format? Why can't I post my own thoughts in my own format, and the pass the draft over to standardized format.

If we force people to publish their drafts in standard format, then we are restricting the very analysis. We need space and freedom to think.

Just relax on locking threads, let people use the smogon forums, let people discuss.

You of course have the option to enforce your bureocracy and authority, I'll just fuck off then, if that's what you really want, have at it.

If not, just refrain from closing the thread, try to focus on the content instead of procedural formalities?

Your analyses did not indicate anywhere that they were drafts. We have structure and bureaucracy because it is necessary for this whole process to actually function.

You are approved for OU Aerodactyl, the other two are denied for now. I'll move that thread back out of the archives and mark it as a draft, you can work on it as you like by editing the OP. When you think it's ready to go through Quality Checks, post in the thread again. If it all goes well you can do more afterwards

Thanks!
That makes sense.

Can I swap Aerodactyl for Omastar? Aerodactyl is the weakest of the three sets, quite gimmicky, and funnily enough not the only user of the set, it could also be a Rhydon/Golem Set. The main purpose of the analysis would be to explain its counterplay, I'd only use it as a 1-2% alt.

Omastar on the other hand is looking pretty strong in testing. It works even as a core team member rather than an alt.

I'll make sure to mark the threads as WIP, there's some calculations with omastar that are not done yet, the Hydro Pump + Surf/Hydro pump combo has an accuracy of between 64% and 80%, but I'm still not sure exactly how much, I need to factor in rolls + crit chances.

Further more, in order to calculate the exact winrate vs tauros I would need to account for Tauros EQ crit chances, it will probably be close to 55% in favour of Omastar, but of course the idea is to trade a high value tauros for a lower value Omastar while also having a tauros in our team.

To be clear, this would be a distinct set from the Tank set, we don't use Rest, and we don't particularly mind paralysis.

Thanks

The fourth slate of SS OU analyses is now up! Feel free to make reservations
