Pearls o' Wisdom

Acklow

I am always tired. Don't bother me.
I really enjoy reading different proverbs from various cultures. There's some pretty good content if you look for it.

So without further ado, here's a bunch:

Chinese Proverbs
To attract good fortune, spend a new coin on an old friend, share an old pleasure with a new friend, and lift up the heart of a true friend by writing his name on the wings of a dragon.

There is only one pretty child in the world, and every mother has it.

One generation plants the trees; another gets the shade.

Do not want others to know what you have done? Better not have done it anyways.

African Proverbs and Sayings
The young can't teach traditions to the old.

A low-class man will just talk; deeds are the hallmark of a gentleman.

English Proverbs
The best things come in small packages.

April showers bring forth May flowers

Buy in the cheapest market and sell in the dearest.

Don't count your chickens before they are hatched.

If you run after two hares you will catch neither.

“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” -Mark Twain

Russian Proverbs
I need not fear my enemies because the most they can do is attack me. I need not fear my friends because the most they can do is betray me. But I have much to fear from people who are indifferent.

A mere friend will agree with you, but a real friend will argue.

Eat the food, it'll still go to waste anyways. (More or less sarcasm in this one)

Anyways, post your favorite proverbs or sayings or quotes here.

As for a real quote, Tom Clancy put it best.

“The only real difference between a wise man and a fool, Moore knew, was that the wise man tended to make more serious mistakes—and only because no one trusted a fool with really crucial decisions; only the wise had the opportunity to lose battles, or nations.”
― Tom Clancy, Clear and Present Danger
