Pet Mod Name: PROJECT DNA
Pet Mod Mascot: :sv/ditto: (because Ditto, fanonically, is allegedly a clone of Mew (transform and stuff)).
Pet Mod Concept: A Micrometa (how it'll go is.. odd inherently. probably SV UU/RU in Power Level.) where all of the Pokemon are suspiciously similar (but not exactly) real Pokemon.
Explanation: For each slate, 3 Fully Evolved Pokemon, from various regions, will be introduced as Bases.
All 3 of the Pokemon will have various (though 3 at minimum) limitations and requirements, also known as DNA pieces) for the Clones to have in mind when created.
Voting would be simple, with no self votes being first. 3 votes.
Examples: Say, if a slate had Venusaur as a possible Base. Venusaur's DNA pieces would be having the Grass type, having Overgrow as an ability, and having a hidden ability Related to Weather.
So, a sub could have a Venusaur Clone with Swift Swim or Sand Force. if you wanted to be funny, it could even have multiple forms with Forecast / Ice Face!
Miscellaneous
: After checking a bit of Gen 8 Pet Mods, I saw something that caught my eye, The Pokedex Redone. And I found it really cool! So I wanted to do something similar, but in.. my own way. With moreso of a "scientists plagiarize mons to create a simulated recreation of a dex with just every mon" type of flavor than just recreating a dex.
Customs won't be allowed most of the time (outside of cases where it'd be an important DNA piece), but you are able to change an ability.
This could also be classified as a Flavor mod? the direction of the mod slates-wise will emulate a regular dex somewhat.

Adopted from Yoshiblaze with permission

Pet Mod Name: Worldbuilding
Pet Mod Concept: As of Gen IX S/V, there are 72 Legendaries & 23 Mythicals, and many among them have been grouped together - be it as duos, trios, or even the rare quintet - to highlight thematic similarities, some of them strengthened with later additions such as Enamorus to the Forces of Nature or the Gen 8 Regis to the Legendary Golems, adding to the already existing story of these legendaries. This Pet Mod aims to do just that - adding new members to these groups, primarily to expand their flavor while also being just as valued competitively - while also giving the rest of the group slight buffs or nerfs in the process.
Explanation: Each slate would be themed around one particular legendary group, with two focuses: 1. you would be tasked with creating a Fakemon that's a new member of a legendary group, adding an explanation for why they exist and how they're related to the original group, while also making them balanced for the metagame. 2. If possible (and entirely optional for lower ranked groups), introduce minor buffs or nerfs from the existing members to build cohesion, akin to how the Lake Guardians received Mythical Power, or the other members of the Creation Trio gained an Origin Forme.

- Must have 570 BST

Submission
Pokemon
: Gong-Loong (Gong, as in the musical instrument, Gōng, as in Duke + Loong, the name of a Chinese Dragon in Chinese)
Type: Dark/Poison
Stats: 80 / 90 / 100 / 120 / 100 / 80 (570 BST)

Flavor: "The trauma of peasants brought along by the ringing of this gong has clad itself in pollutants to become a Pokémon." "Even those who hear its distant cacophony will find their mental scars torn open, forced to relieve unpleasant experiences."
Competitive Overview: "Bulky pivot with a decent amount of power than can force out a number of Pokemon since it make things around it slower, while sporting nice utility like Parting Shot, Knock Off, Toxic, Taunt and Psychic Noise. With full investment, you can reasonably outspeed base 110s.
Miscellaneous: This is (probably) a NatDex Uber-based micrometa, just cause I don't see how we can explore the Box Art Legends without it. As such, the only gimmick permitted would only be Mega Evolutions (:Rayquaza-Mega: however, would probably still be banned barring nerfs).

Pet Mod Name: A Sound of Thunderbolts
Pet Mod Mascot: :dialga:and:celebi:
Pet Mod Concept: A metagame that explores a Generation 9 metagame where a time traveller has gone back to the first Generation and altered history!
Explanation: In the first slate, people will submit their plans to travel back in time to to any date before 1999, not long before the release of Pokémon Red and Green, and alter history in any way they wish, and state the effects that their plan will have on the future, including what SV OU will look like in this new future. For example, you can erase the Dragon-type from existence, change the lineup of the original 151, or even prevent Pokémon from being a success and have a new creature collector or even an old one be the top monster battling game today. (The only caviat is that there still must be a game with the same rules as SV OU) Then, a vote will occur, and the plan with the most votes will go through, creating a new metagame in the process. The rest of the slates will be focused on building this new metagame together, by piecing together what happened in between. For example, you can submit a Pokémon for the metagame that came from the altered timeline's generation 3.
Miscellaneous: The type of metagame and it's rules are all determined by how history is changed. In the first slate, your attempt to alter history can be anything you'd wish, even if it has nothing to do with Pokémon: For example, you can erase Rattata from existence by having your time travel plan be to rid the world of all rats.

Pet Mod Name: [Gen 9] Crossover Chaos Expanded Returns

Pet Mod Concept: As with Gen 9 Crossover Chaos (Ver. C), this pet mod is a reboot/do-over of the previous Crossover Chaos Expanded pet mod for Gen 9. Crossover Chaos Expanded builds on the existing Crossover Chaos pet mod and its micrometa by creating a secondary micrometa (micromicrometa?) for characters introduced in media outside of video games, including cartoons, comics, television series, movies, literature, and even advertising if applicable.

Explanation: The submission rules for Crossover Chaos Expanded are identical to those of Crossover Chaos, and as such, justifications for typing, abilities, and moves based on relevant source material are required for each and every submission. In the same way that Crossover Chaos Ver. C established slates based on specific competitive roles rather than free-for-alls like in the previous version, the same will hold true for this new take on Crossover Chaos Expanded, with the micrometa taking top priority and new slates being decided depending on what is required for balance overall.

One additional twist I'd thought I'd throw in to make the submission process a bit more interesting is that, if you like and are capable of such, you can have your submissions be in-character, as if the character being submitted was being interviewed or auditioned and would provide the above-mentioned justifications themselves. In other words, this would be a combination of a pet mod creation process and a sort of forum roleplay. I should note that in-character submissions are not a strict requirement and are completely voluntary - researching the characterization for roleplaying your character choice is not always feasible on short notice, to say nothing of submitted characters who aren't sapient or otherwise able to communicate in a way we can understand - but I figured they'd make the submission process more fun!

Miscellaneous: Mygavolt, the head of the previous version of Gen 9's Crossover Chaos Expanded, has not been active since August of this year, and the mod itself was last active in December 2024 with a post announcing its hiatus. I do not know if or when it will be picked up again, but given how the meta has changed since that announcement, perhaps it's time for CCE to do some catching up, and hopefully despite my own IRL schedule being terribly packed, I should be at least marginally able to pick up where Mygavolt left off!

In light of my own filthy casualness when it comes to competitive play, I would also greatly appreciate any meta expertise on the council for this pet mod, so that submissions can be reviewed to see what needs to be changed for balance's sake and new slates set up to fill any micrometa needs or role vacancies to this end. If anyone is willing to help in this respect, feel free to send me a DM either here on this forum or via Discord if you have it!

11/10/25 ADDENDUM: The Council for this mod already has two prospective members: APaidActor and master oden! Anyone else who wants to join the Council is, again, free to DM me!

Speculative Champions OU
Pet Mod Name: Speculative Champions OU

Pet Mod Concept: This Pet Mod would be a prediction of what the Pokémon Champions metagame could be like on day one.

Explanation: I am really curious about what Pokémon Champions OU will be like in the future, and I also want to try the new Mega Evolutions in the metagame, where they will probably debut! I have already made a 17-page document on this tier, but to explain briefly how I am choosing the Pokémon for the tier, I will say the tier itself is based on predictions made via leaks, like the ZA DLC, the leaked images in the teraleak, and the famous 4chan post that gave us a lot of (reliable) info on champions. On this basis, I would create a Pokédex for the tier. I want to make this tier as realistic as possible, without too much speculation. Some speculation is required to fill the dex, but I won't make too many guesses. The dex will be made by the ZA dex + the ZA DLC dex + HOME returning mons (Pokémon Home will be compatible from day one) + the mons that have been confirmed by Pokémon Champions trailers, and the ones that leaked from the Teraleak. Any advice on the dex is welcome! I also want to keep updating the tier so everyone can experience a meta as close to Champions as possible. For that reason, any feedback is welcome! As for the mechanics, we will allow only mega evolutions, bc there are rumors that champions will have seasons with changing mechanics, and I believe the first one will be about megas. I will also be using the NAT DEX learnset + the new moves from ZA, but I will ban some moves that are basically 100% never returning. For the rest, it would be designed like a normal OU tier.

Miscellaneous: As I said before, I will now send the document I created for this tier!

A long overdue slate of Pet Mod Approvals is here!

We don't have too many approvals during this slate, so maybe if we get an influx of new subs then the next set of approvals will be sooner rather than later, but the ones we do have are still very exciting!

Pet Mod Name: Not My Type
Pet Mod Concept: A Fakemon micrometa where three types are completely removed from the game.
Explanation: I am going to leave the full explanation to my workshop post here, but will summarize. The first slate would have users submit and then vote on sets of three of the eighteen Pokemon types to be removed from the game entirely, with all of those types' moves and abilities going away with it. From the second slate onwards, users will submit Fakemon around the new type chart until the meta has around 40-50 in total.

The intention is that the removals would result in some wild imbalance across the typings and some unique power dynamics to build Fakemon around. An extreme example of what's possible would be removing Ground, Dragon, and Grass to make Electric only be resisted by itself, artificially boosting it into being very overpowered and forcing users to build weaker Fakemon if they have it. We absolutely do not need to do something quite this crazy though. If the people voting in the first slate want to try something super tame and low-impact instead, then that would also be possible. This mod would be incredibly straightforward and easy to follow but very unique in spite of that.

Miscellaneous:
  • Voting would work a bit differently than other mods, more similar to Roulettemons 2 than anything. You may vote "Yes" or "No" for as many individual subs as you would like. Those with 60% or more "Yes" votes would be added to the meta. This is to speed up the mod creation phase among plenty of other things. I go more into detail about this in the aforementioned workshop post.
  • Each user would get exactly one submission per slate. This is to hopefully encourage higher-quality submissions as well as give voters less subs to sift through for this new voting phase idea.
  • Megas, Z-Moves, Dynamax, and Tera will all be banned, and the Stellar-type, ???-type, or "typeless" obviously cannot be chosen as any of the three removed types.
  • You will be able to add oldgen-only moves like Return and Signal Beam to your Fakemons' movepools here.
Playing with the type chart has always been something theoretically interesting but seldom explored in Pet Mods, since it can be a bit hard to submit and play with as the standard type chart is so ingrained in to all of our souls at this point, so this mod exploring it in a very approachable way makes the concept work really well for me. Approved.

Pet Mod Name: [Gen 1] Azure Version
Pet Mod Concept: A revival of the abandoned Burgundy Mod
Explanation: Just like Burgundy, this mod seeks to expand on the traditional RBY experience. There will be slight mechanics changes, new Pokemon, buffs to existing Pokemon, and new moves. The slates will alternate on what to focus on, people will make submissions, then there will be a voting procedure. The council will have experienced RBYers who will make sure submissions are balanced.
Miscellaneous: I successfully helped revive RBY CAP (i was on council for most of the mod's duration) so I will do a good job I promise.
The last revival of an RBY Pet Mod that you worked on went pretty well, so I'm confident another shot at an expansive Gen 1 mod will go just as well, and more cool past gen mods never hurt to have. Approved.

Projects like The Pokedex Redone which you mentioned have often gone by the wayside, but it's been a really long time since we've given it a shot and explicitly making it a micrometa while having fun flavor that also helps to guide submissions should give it a chance to succeed. Approved.

I am a bit new to the forums themselves (just made an account but years-long lurker), and I noticed there was not any kind of standardizing for the Pixelmon mod, so I may or may not have done a little something with the help of compiling my notes into an AI to make a nice clean pet mod proposal.

Putting all 3 of these together as they get Rejected for the same reason: these concepts should all go in the Solomods Megathread, as they fit the definition of a Solomod much more than a Pet Mod.

And that's all for now! See you soon!

Based on ViZar’s Solomod; do credit him for the inspiration. (here)

Pet Mod Name: Grand Reset
Pet Mod Concept: Anything special a Pokémon can have (minus Signature Abilities) are gone, with new additions or reworked old ones taking place in a regional dex format.
Explanation: Starting with a Regional Dex out of randomly picked Pokémon (for a total of ~200 Pokémon, NFEs included), an old super mechanic is either randomly picked or voted by community (including No Super Mechanic), then we add “special” things to almost any Pokémon for a total of ten standard slates and a few special slates.

The following uniques are removed from all Pokémon, which includes Signature Moves and all later-generation additions such as Baby Pokémon and cross-gen evos, but excluding base stat changes. Then new ones (or even modified olds / replacements) can be added, regardless or not if such Pokémon has any of these.
  • Signature Moves: Either entirely new on same Pokémon, make it a widespread move, or give it to a different Pokémon.
    • A signature can be given alongside any of the below, but try avoid going overboard with giving one for every one of your submissions; focus on what they are supposed to do first.
  • Non-Cosmetic Alternative Forms: Can be activated in or outside of battle; must not be too similar to Mega Evolution.
  • Form-Changing Signature Ability: Can either be given to another Pokémon, or given back to the original but with modified alternate form and condition.
    • Standard signature Abilities are kept as-is due to being important of a Pokémon’s identity.
  • Baby Pokémon: LC-specific. Cannot be given to Special Pokémon (Legends, Mythicals, Ultra Beasts and Paradox Pokémon), nor Pokémon that already has three stages of evolution.
    • Togepi, Riolu and Toxel are safe due to being introduced with the evolved one.
  • Cross-Gen Evolutions: Cannot be given to Special Pokémon, nor Pokémon that has already three stages of evolution. Up to 550 BST(!), but tend to go for a 480-540 range.
    • Regarding a new stage evolution (i.e. Rhyperior, Steelix, Electivire), it is mutually exclusive with Mega Evolution for individual species of Pokémon, if that one is picked. That’s mostly to avoid awkward overlaps.
    • Branched evolution is another option that can be an alternative evolution for a basic stage or first evolution Pokémon, akin to Kleavor and Gallade. Must match BST of the final stage.
    • (!) Archaludon exists with 600 BST, but we leave that BST for a special slate.
  • Regional Form: Must match the original’s BST, and cannot have a Mega or a G-Max form. No hard restrictions otherwise.
    • An exclusive evolution can be added on top of a Regional Form. It can be a new stage so long the third stage isn’t already reached (akin to Obstagoon, Mr. Rime and Cursola), or replacing the final stage (akin to Runerigus, Sneaselr and Clodsire). Follows rules of Cross-Gen Evos.
  • Paradox Counterparts: All Paradox Pokémon except Koraidon and Miraidon (due to being introduced with Cyclizar) are removed and possibly replaced by new ones or different takes of old ones.
  • Exclusive Held Items: Things like Light Orb, Lucky Punch. Leek, Griseous Orb, Rusty Sword/Shield and Ogrepon masks. They can do almost anything as long as it’s not blatantly unbalanced or mechanically useless.
  • Everything else are intact.
Miscellaneous: There are the following Pokémon that are particularly impacted by the removal of their uniques.
  • :wishiwashi::aegislash::minior: These Pokémon have a form-changing Ability, and with their forms removed, they had to be compensated in different ways, such as by having such Ability to work differently if given back to it’s original owner.
  • :smeargle::meowscarada::latios: Pokémon relying on their Signature Move to function, or have found success because of such move, may have to find a new one or, in a few cases, be boosted in a different way.
  • :tangela::murkrow::roselia: Pokémon that received an evolution in a later generation must either get a new and different one, or linger as potential trashmon unless compensated with something else.
  • :pikachu::jigglypuff: On one hand, Pikachu losing Light Orb may kill what viability it has, how small it may be. On the other, Pichu being removed does give a possibility of Raichu evolving further. This also applies to the Jigglypuff line with Igglybuff removed.
  • :eevee: New Evolutions for Eevee may be kept for a special slate with a bit strict rule as to not make the new ones vastly overshadowing the trio of Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon.
Any question or concern? Feel free to ask in Smogon DMs or Discord DMs.

Pet Mod Name: Mega Revolution
Pet Mod Concept: This PetMod focuses on turning all the Mega Evolutions into Evolutions, Split Evolutions and Alternate Formes, depending on the Mega in question.
Explanation: Like in G-Luke's mod from 5 years ago (wtf), the aim of the mod is to make every Mega Evolution an independent Pokemon, that can be used from the beginning of the battles, without any transformation. For balancing sake, not all Pokemon will be pure evolutions, since their natural BST or the Eviolite will create Pokemon that are too strong.

Depending on the slate and Pokemon, submitters will be allowed to make Split Evolutions or Alternate formes, if Evolutions aren't possible. This mod would take place in a NatDex format, just for movepool and availability sake.

Miscellaneous: I will largely copy G-Luke's post here, cause I'm lazy.

Megas boost their base mons BST by 100. In regards to our revolved mons, we will allocate how muvh BST will be gained on a slate by slate basis. Remember, these are regular Pokémon, so HP can be increased, and you should also be liberal with stats. Megas must keep their abilities, but should inherit abilities from their family line / base mon as well. Custom elements are banned.

Voting Phase

Voting phase lasts for 2-4 days. In the voting phase, users vote for their preferred submissions and the winning submissions are added to the role compendium and spreadsheet.
The voting format is as follows:

Role in question: 1st preferred option, 2nd preferred option, 3rd preferred option.
Note: These self voting rules and the explanation are from good user lyd, slightly adapted to fit this pet mod
If you want to vote for yourself now, it gets slightly more complicated. You can always keep voting for yourself as second, but you can change the order a bit, for as long as the number of self-votes equals 2x the number of submissions you made. Let's use some examples to make it more understandable:

Stallbreaker: Yoshiblaze, Lyd, Ludicrousity
Special Wall: Ludicrousity, Lyd, Yoshiblaze
Defensive Pivot: Ludicrousity, Lyd, Yoshiblaze

So this voting format is good, cuz' Lyd voted for himself as second three times, and when you add everything up, he gave himself 6 votes, which is fine, as it is exactly the number of submissions he made for the slate x2. However, say he liked his Stallbreaker submission a lot, and he really wants it to win, he can play around with his votes a little bit:

Stallbreaker: Lyd, Yoshiblaze, Ludicrousity
Special Wall: Ludicrousity, Lyd, Yoshiblaze
Defensive Pivot: Ludicrousity, Yoshiblaze, Lyd

So to make his Stallbreaker first vote, he moved his Defensive Pivot self-vote to last. Makes sense, right? And when you add up the votes, 3 + 2 + 1 = 6 which is exactly what he wants. Let's say that he likes his Special Wall and Defensive Pivot submissions more, and he didn't like his Stallbreaker submission too much. He can do this:

Stallbreaker: Yoshiblaze, Ludicrousity, G-Luke
Special Wall: Lyd, Ludicrousity, Yoshiblaze
Defensive Pivot: Lyd, Ludicrousity, Yoshiblaze

3 + 3 adds up to six, so he's good to that. Small note that this can't be done if he made no Stallbreaker submission because if that was the case, the number of submissions he made x2 would actually end up as 4, which isn't enough. Also, had he only made a single submission, he'd always have to self-vote as #2 or lower because making only one submission gives him only two self-vote points. We hope that was clear, if you had any trouble to understand this, feel free to PM anyone from the council and we'll explain it as best as we can.

OK....It's time for my last Pet Mod Submissions for the year. Three times the glory!
Name: Resetmons
Pet Mod Concept: A Micrometa where, in it's first slate, 30 moves are chosen, and those 30 moves will be the only moves that will ever exist!
Explanation: The first slate of this Pet Mod will have people create submissions for which 30 moves they want to be in the Pet Mod, with the winner being the one with the most votes. The rest of the slates will have users designing new Pokémon with those winning moves.
Miscellaneous: Custom elements other than Fakemon are not allowed.

Name: Life After Types
Pet Mod Concept: A micrometa where types don't exist, and everything else that goes with that! Every move and Pokémon will be typeless as a result.
Explanation: Any move or ability that would mention or change a Pokémon's type will be banned.
Miscellaneous: Custom elements are allowed!

Name: Gotchimons
Pet Mod Concept: A micrometa that has nothing but Tamagotchi characters, to prove that they can stand up to the Digimon.
Explanation: I've been wanting to get Tamagotchi out of obscurity ever since I saw it's anime. The franchise debuted the same year as Pokémon did, but most people will just know them as "The Franchise that served as the inspiration for the Digimon". It also just so happens to be Tamagotchi's 30th anniversary next year! Having already tried with a Solomod, I wanted to see what happens if the community put together a Micrometa with just Tamagotchi, to make them look at how they would do at actual combat...and I hope this would get them out of obscurity.
Miscellaneous: Custom elements are allowed.

alright its been >a week and im done with christmas

Pet Mod Name: brokenmons unchained
Pet Mod Concept: where mons are broken
Explanation:
mod would have an extremely high power level and people would p much sub whatever they want as long as the sub is strong enough. measures will be taken to keep the game theoretically playable (so lines are drawn at like, ohko, innate trapping, fast comaphaze and revive bullshit etc) but it wont be expected to be "balanced". its meant to be a forfun mod where people sub their funny ideas and maybe we get a randbats or something. custom mons are allowed, and you can change the existing pokemon however you want. voting will be lax and id like a larger percentage of the slate to make it compared to most mods.

i decided to allow custom mons because the more i think about it the more i realize theres no reason to not. you can edit any of the 1000+ mons into whatever you want, anyway.

Miscellaneous:
- custom elements are allowed, except custom universal items, which are probably going to be out of the regular slates and get their own slate if they end up existing just because theyre kind of a hassle.
- gen 9 natdex mechanics. tera is tentatively illegal so people can make their own funny buttons if they wish.
- no new mechanics, so stuff like the type chart remains the same.
- voting will be uhhh ill figure it out later but probably just vote your top x and top % get in

old thread here
