Pokémon GO

Yes, it is. It can still hit decently hard in PoGo with Quick Attack + Hyper Beam, I think that’s what it gets. Since normal types can’t hit anything super-effectively it’s not going to be the optimal attacker most of the time but it’s at least a decent generalist since most types don’t resist it.
... don’t mind me I’m crazy
All the same, I think it’ll be outclassed by Dragon-types in general (pun intended) as they have higher stats and stronger moves. Still happy Meloetta gets a niche though.

Mostly condensing what’s been said but yea. Melo’s stats are ridiculously deceptive for Go - almost peaking at 4K CP with a good Atk stat. That said, Meloetta faces a few issues:

1) Normal-types don’t hit anything Super Effectively, meaning its role is relegated to generalist. Problem: It has Hyper Beam (one bar and slow)

2) Generalists aren’t particularly needed - they are not useful in raids and specializing for gym offense is better. Also, things like Kyurem-B can be your generalist.

3) It is a Mythical, so its fate is problematic. Ending up as a one-time Pokemon means the IVs will make its stats be a bit lower (not that it matters much), acquiring candy for it becomes harder, and... there’s only one.

Imo Melo just isn’t justifiable despite those good stats.

That’s for PvE. PvP runs into problem 3: Even at level 15, a 10/10/10 Melo goes above 1500 which means it’s not usable in Great League.

I come bearing excellent news. Psystrike has been buffed before Mewtwo's release!

The move now lasts 2.3 seconds (rather than 4.4), while its damage goes down from 100 to 90. It is still a 2 bar move.

It makes Mewtwo absolutely amazing.

It outDPS's Kyurem-Black of all things and not only makes it a master generalist, but the best Psychic-type by MILES since nothing else gets Psystrike lol

Yay! Psystrike is finally good!!!

The world of Pokémon GO expands with Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region!

Pokémon GO
Trainers,
Over three years ago, your Pokémon GO journey started with Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region, and you’ve gone on to encounter hundreds of Pokémon first encountered in the Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions as you’ve battled, raided, and completed research. It’s almost time to continue your journey and encounter Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region! Get ready to meet new friends and encounter Pokémon featured in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, appearing in Pokémon GO later today!
Features
  • Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, Pidove, Blitzle, and more Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region will be appearing in the wild.

    • 2 km Eggs: Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, Pidove
    • 5 km Eggs: Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Blitzle, Drilbur, Foongus

More Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region will be making their way to Pokémon GO as Professor Willow shares more updates from his findings, so look forward to meeting them soon. C’mon, Trainer—let’s GO on this Unova voyage together!

And now the bad news! Mewtwo is a Tier "6" Raid Boss with 66318 CP, repeating a similar thing to last year where its raid boss HP was ridiculous. A trio is now incredibly difficult (requiring ridiculous things like Level 40 Giratina-O teams in Fog), so be careful when raiding. This is the hardest Raid Boss in the game.

Thank god I'm going back to college this weekend, there will be people to raid with. I haven't done any non-solo raids in months. I missed out on Deoxys but I hope it will return someday.

Why oh why does Europe get Pansear? I harbour a burning hatred for that complete shitmon. The other monkeys are bad, bad, bad too, but Pansear is the worst of the bunch.
At least you get Heatmor

I love the egg hatches. They’re giving us Deino? Crazy. I love it.

For now, we know Unova's release next week will at minimum include Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Patrat, Lillipup and Klink, with the latter 3 having their shiny forms debuting. Could we expect to see more or would that be a good limited release? I'm thinking the likes of Pidove and Purrloin could also be included, and potentially Munna or the 3 Elemental Monkeys.
Just looking at the old posts. Goodness we missed out a ton. OM! was correct... spooky

I think most people just assumed they would handle this release like Gen 4's (horribly), so not much faith was put into it. It's a pretty good first wave, all things considered. The likes of Litwick and Deino being so early helps.

That said, this is the gen with 156 Pokémon, so the waves have to be sort of meaningful. Fortunately there are no baby mons or cross-gen evos to hold out on content too.

This. Although, Gen V has a famously high number of three-stage evolution lines that could be introduced one or two at a time and steal the spotlight a little. And there's a ton of legendaries too, but I believe we're still missing a fair number of those from Gen IV.

Of the 3-tier evolution lines without their shinies already available, the possible ones are:

Roggenrola
Timburr
Tympole
Sewaddle
Venipede
Sandile
Gothita
Solosis
Vanillite
Tynamo
Litwick
Axew
Deino

Trapinch will be featured in the October Community Day.
  • October 12, 11:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. (local time)
  • 3x Catch experience
  • Exclusive move yet to be announced.

My money is on Earth Power, but I tried playing with calculators to see how some moves would change Flygon's performance. (added Dragon Breath, Outrage, Draco Meteor, Mud Slap, Bulldoze, Dragon Pulse)

Without adding new moves or changing the existing ones, Outrage seems like the best option, as unoriginal as it is.

In a crowded Dragon tier, Flygon wouldn't even make a splash.

New moves they could potentially introduce: Dragon Rush, Fissure, Sand Attack, Sand Tomb.

So, they will release Galor regional forms, as they did Alolan, somewhere between Gen 5 & 6, not only to promote Gen 8, but because they made history with the Alolans (since they are old Pokémon cross-evos, or their old pokemon’s New line).

Can’t wait for Galor Linoone! KISS will rock gyms! No pun intended!

Well, M2 > Deoxys-S, it gives people who caught armored M2 something to pour their candy in, it doesn’t have weaknesses to Psychic, Fairy, Dragon, Ice, Ground, Rock or Water like Gengar, Chandelure, and Giratina do (I.e. VS Gardevoir), and you can TM it if you have to.

Further, M2 gets to Mega; which will make it more powerful than Giratina, Gengar will still be a threat, but M2 has a wider movepool for a secondary charge move.

Overall, M2 is currently the second best Shadow Ball attacker Vs Psychic Types using Psychic moves (like M2 vs M2), (even better than Darkrai!), as its resistance adds to its TDO - leaving it behind only Giratina.

Now, when it comes to Ice Beam M2, Giratina is weak to that and lowers Giratina’s TDO.

When Tyranitar-Mega, and Hoopa-Unbound are released, they will be double resistant to Psychic moves (Tyranitar-Mega) and triple resistant to Psychic moves (Hoopa-Unbound), and will be the ones to watch for handling Psychics even better than a Mega-Gengar.

For now a more accurate chart to display matchups.
