Yes, I always wanted to do battle tower with real people
Diamond and Pearl cartridges are flashable data carriers IIRC and therefor can be updated if neccesairy.I got one question relating to these new forms: There are people who like to get into these games and find everything item and pokemon programmed into the game (like Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, and berries 61-64 in D/P, the GS Ball and Celebi in G/S/C, and the finding of the non-Hoenn pokemon in R/S before the official announcement of FR/LG being produced). So why weren't any of these found in the data of Diamond and Pearl? Also, could it be remotely possible that for all 3 of these forms that, similar to Deoxys in the GBA generation, they would only be obtainable in the 'Platinum' version and if traded to D/P they would revert to the original forms??

Nintendo will not risk destroying the catridges of millions of players worldwide. Even if the update is 99.9% safe, we'd be looking at thousands of broken cartridges should the flash update not go well.
From personal experience I've seen a Nintendo fallback mechanism work well. I was transferring legendary pokemon from the 3rd gen, trying to complete my pokedex, hence my emotional investment in everything going smoothly. I successfully migrated, loaded, caught the pokemon from the park, and while I was saving the DS got knocked onto the floor and froze in the middle of saving. That's assuming there's nothing built in if an upgrade goes wrong, and can't simply be flashed again. As long as it can be fixed, and works 99% of the time, it's workable. The only critical bit is they can't take out save games. As long as those are intact your game not working for a bit as you try to add the update doesn't matter.
I didn't really notice this the first time I looked at the picture, but BOTH Dialga and Palkia are peeking over Giratina's wings. Maybe we'll get both like in Emerald.Don't know if you guys saw this or not, but this is from serebii:

Naturally, the game said that the save data was corrupt, but it continued to load the previous, IE the game data from just before going into the Pal Park and capturing the pokemon. Minimal losses.
Yeah, knowing that they didn't take any shortcuts in that regard leaves me with some confidence that, should Nintendo try and update Diamond / Pearl to support Platinum-introduced forms, they might have some sort of backup plan in case things go bad.

Considering they are going to announce a "new battle interface", I believe it's Legendary Double Battle.
And hey, Palkia and Dialga are already there, as if they could start fighting with you anytime...
I'd have to be late in the game, they would have to both be level 40, or you can catch both without killing one first (iirc in D/P you can't catch a Pokemon if you are fighting two at once).
That's actually my idea, you would be allowed to catch only one of them (p to your choice), while the other one would be killed.
I know this idea kind of sucks to a lot of people, but that's the only thing I can come with :/ Unless D/P can be updated with this "new interface", I can't see it having anything to do with Link battles.
Maybe you could have a double battle that's like: You and Rival versus Dialga and Palkia.
You catch one, he catches the other.
If you both caught them, it would be for some machine or something that would sent them back to their own dimensions. Or maybe you both just have to defeat them, so they flea back to where they came from. In that case, they should both be of a high level (60?), assuming the fight would take place around the same time the final Galactic showdown did at the Spear Pillar in D/P.
A NPC catching and keeping a legendary Pokemon I can't see happening.
