every time i post my last.fm anywhere it makes me realize how empty it is, like how many "essential" artists i've never listened to. how many more popular influences of my favorite bands i neglect

and yeah, this compatibility thing is so flawed, like i don't even listen to half these artists anymore

I stopped using this in like 2008 when I started feeling really sub-conscious about what I was listening to and felt forced to change what I liked to what everyone else liked.

You should never have to feel that way. It's often very rare that I am ever compatible with anyone on the site. I don't let it stop me, I just keep thinking how much deeper I am than everyone else, you smell me dawg

I still use the site, but I don't check it very often for similar reasons. Actually, I don't care what other people like, but I know what I like, and if I looked at my page and I wasn't seeing enough of certain bands (or too much) I would end up listening to stuff I wasn't in the mood for. I stopped doing that, and I only check it when I'm bored, mainly just because I'm still interested to see which artists I listened to the most in the past three months (right now it's Bad Religion and Kansas).

My taste is pretty varied, but I go through phases and play the hell out of a certain genre or song as evidenced by my top 6 being 4 rappers, a j-pop artist, and an electronic duo. The sad thing is I've got probably twice as many artists than what is listed so it just never ends.
 
Super with moot and Jackal. Managed Very High with a few of you. Does anyone know exactly how that compatibility meter works?
 
Haven't used this much at all. Also don't have the scrobbler for my Evo which is what I listen to my music about 95% of the time.

My compatibility ran the gamut from Very Low with a couple of people to Super with MaxFightmaster. Had Very High with Jackal, moot, and Rodan. I think the biggest factor in compatibility is just that people who have a ton of artists in their library are going to score high on you compatibility-wise.
