Sports Pro Wrestling Discussion Thread

I just skips through most of Raw these days, only thing I pay attention to is Orton, MVP and Santino. MVP isn't really doing anything at the moment, and they've ruined Orton. Santino will always be funny though.
Smackdown is so good at the moment, I can't wait to see what happens with Punk/Jeff Hardy.

I like MVP quite a bit, and think he should get a shot at the WWE title, but the B.o.D. still aren't giving him the respect he so rightfully deserves. So what does everyone think of Victoria (Tara) in TNA?

The WWE just has too many titles, imo. Vince doesn't care about the quality of the product as long as it's selling. Cena winning with the FU is GOLD, so why mess with a winning formula?

The days of good buildups to matches are gone. It's just the same storylines rehashed, with different wrestlers thrown in. The only recent good buildup I can think of is the one to the Undertaker-HBK match.

The buildups to Undertaker's matches usually involve his opponent cowering in fear, but I'm glad to see they did something else, especially since you can't possibly have a bigger stage for those 2 legends (which, considering their match history, is saying A LOT) to compete in - in front of Undertaker's home crowd, (San Antonio, which is HBK's hometown, isn't too far away either!) , on the 25th anniversary of Wrestlemania.

That should've been the main event, really. The match is proof that you don't need a boatload of title changes, or silly stipulations, and don't always need a steel cage/hell in a cell/whatever to be able to tell a good story - which is what pro wrestling is about, anyway.

Just watching last weeks ECW, did anyone else see Vladimir Kozlov with a smile on his face getting a lot of cheers from the crowd? I think it's hilarious.

It's some big 3 hour thing tonight on raw with all the World titles being defended, hopefully that should make RAW less shit than usual. Here's hoping they put right the shambles that was Orton vs Batista and give him his title back.

I'm hereby vowing to never watch Raw again until they sort out the insult to wrestling that is John Cena. It was stupid enough that I had to watch him fight the Big Show -again- but putting it as the main event of the evening in place of a WWE Championship match is just friggin' stupid. And I can't believe he had the audacity to say that him against Miz is going to be the main event at the Bash...ugh. His matches are ridiculously predictable throughout - he'll get beaten up, kick out of something impressive, Michael Cole will have an orgasm and rant on about how tough Cena is, Cena will come back with a set-piece of attacks (shoulder block x2, protoplex, fist drop) and finish the match. Yeah, it's basically Hulk Hogan for the new generation but nowhere near as entertaining.

And when was the last time he lost a match fairly or without some big drama? I actually get annoyed when I see him...no offense to him directly as he's a good athlete and can pull off some good shit (lifting Edge and Show at Mania was actually amazing) but his kayfabe character expired about a decade ago.

Could you imagine a heel turn lol.

The people in the audience that night got their money back

"supposedly" got their money back, I doubt it really happened.

And @ Lee+...Amen! Thank you for saying what I've felt for years, and to get something else off my chest...Jeff Hardy gets way too many title shots now, like Cena did a few years back. It's always the same old champions.

I'm sure they did get their money back, but it's all bound to be a stunt payed for by Vince himself, he'd never sell RAW.

I'm not too bothered about Jeff's success as he's a fantastic entertainer and nearly always manages to keep it fresh. He's been in the business most his life and has worked hard to be where he's at...a sharp contrast to Cena's meteoric rise to movie star, music artist and multiple time World Champion in the space of a few years.

The fans got their money back dudes there is even pictures on WWE.com as proof. I don't like Jeff Hardy to much because I find him as a lesser spot monkey, however when Jeff is good his good and can pull off a great match.

Amazing Smackdown, Morrison/Punk was godly and I just generally love what they're doing with both of these guys right now. great show all-around though, Smackdown is always a breath of fresh air it seems.

raw on the other hand... well the Last Man Standing match was actually surprisingly good and hopefully their match at The Bash ends well too. I'm more interested in clinging to the false hope that Miz might beat Cena though, lol

He jobbed to HHH iirc, but that's about it. What you said it's true, sadly. RAW is trash right now. SD! on the other hand is great. Punk vs Morrison was a relly good match. Nice to see young stars getting a push.

John Morrison can do no wrong at the moment. Every match he's in is fantastic. I think he's probably the best performer in the WWE at the moment.

I'm actually really looking forward to Miz and Cena. Miz has been a breath of fresh air to me with his promos, hopefully (though probably not) Miz can get a win over Cena.
