Sorry for creating a separate post for this, but Hugendugen deleted the original. However, as one of the Top 5 Posters of these forums, based on my post count anyways, I feel that I have the right to be heard.
For the past six months since this forum's creation, people have often called the staff here abusive, and I have adamantly chosen to defend them.
This ends today.
Because doing this without the consent of ANYONE is cruel. This move has, according to the Prediction Game thread, already managed to make a little girl cry. And that's not exactly something that nice staff members would do.
One of the topics that came up is that PS is the best Pokémon simulator and Smogon is the best competitive Pokémon site, so they should combine.
I will freely disagree with both of those statements.
PS is NOT the best simulator, because apparently at PS, the staff just like to go ahead and take away forums that you enjoy, without even asking the community if that's what they want. And Smogon is NOT the best competitive Pokémon site, because, as I said in Hungendugen's thread, most users are despicable human beings, who are "filled to the brim with arrogance and self-absorption".
In fact, here's a challenge for you, name at least five normal users (i.e. not staff members) who are actually likeable on Smogon Forums. You'll have a hard time doing that.
I will admit that PS Forums are badly moderated, though, with the exception of Discipline Appeals, I don't think it was ever needed. No one was so poorly behaved that they were acting out of hand, at least from what I could tell, and as for the Discipline Appeals forum, I think the idiots who say "yeah I spammed the N-word and posted a buncha porn links. plz unban." would just be idiots regardless, but if you wanted to have better moderation, why not just create more moderators?
Based on post count, the top users here are Kingler12345, YourBoss, Chaosdramon, PlasmaKirby, and me. None of these are moderators.
Now, I'm not going to go through every single one of their posts, as this would take forever, but based on what I've seen, they are pretty well-behaved and thoughtful, and ACTIVE ON THE FORUMS, so that they can moderate them.
I will admit that I do have a few stupid moments on the forums (which, depending on your point of view, may even include this thread), and probably don't deserve to be a mod. But I think that the others do. Take that for what you will.
According to my web browser, I visit PS Forums more than I visit any other site, and I was deeply hurt when I lost this site without even being consulted about it.
And then Hugendugen locked the thread, preventing ANYONE from ever opposing this decision. Yeah, screw that.
I now see what the people who claim the staff are abusive are getting at. It took a while, but I get it.
Now, I just want to say that I enjoy competitive Pokémon play, and it's even got to the point where I don't play the cartridges anymore. I bought both X and Y on release day, and have given up on both before even the second gym. I played only by using this simulator. I love it and would not give it up for anything... or so I thought.
But if this is the way that the staff treats its users, by treating them like they don't matter, then I don't want to have anything to do with this simulator.
While I am more than willing to hang around on the Forums (because to abandon them right when they need me is a stupid move), you will never see me come online in the simulator again unless the decision to move the Forums is reversed. It will be difficult for me to live without it, but it won't be impossible, and I will do my best.
I am a voiced user in the Lobby, and globally as a result. I would like to be devoiced immediately, if possible. I do not want to be a staff member if the future says that we treat users like they don't matter.
And worse, after making this decision, you'd think that the staff would change their mind after seeing so many people opposing it, but they didn't. So not only do they not approach users and ask them what they want, nor do they give any sort of advanced warning notice at all, but they also CONTINUE to say that our opinions don't matter to them afterwards.
Fuck that.

All that proves is that the staff does indeed oppress people just for posting things that they disagree with, so thank you for proving my point there, if you choose to go that route. Most people on Smogon treat literally everyone else like they're new simply if they do not have the same opinion, and honestly, it's extremely fucking annoying. If I know what the fuck I'm talking about while at the same time disagreeing with you, don't act like an asshole. So the main reason other then "I don't like Smogon" is just that. We don't like Smogon because we simply find the people there to be general assholes. Example:
Me: No, I see 60 Speed Modest being enough for it since at +2 it will outspeed everything and it will have no problem setting up
Other person: No, he needs to use 252 Timid to outspeed a lot of things before a boost, go to Battling 101 then you can try posting again.
Honestly I find this annoying as fuck, I see 60 Speed being enough and therefore I will use 60 Speed EVs. You saying he needs 252+ when I clearly said why he doesn't is a waste of power. You're free to use ehatever you want because I have no reason to care. This usually leads to a 4 page arguement that gives me multiple infractions for the same thing, yet the other guy gets nothing because he, in their terms, did nothing wrong, however I know its really just because they agreed with a Smogon set because he's a dick riding piece of shit and the mods like to be as corrupt as possible (obviously not all)

First of all, I'm 21 and have been posting on the Internet for five years, and lurking for another five on top of that.
Second, I know that this V4Victini guy is most likely a troll. I'm not stupid. I just believe in helping people, and trolls are still people too. I have gotten a few trolls (admittedly, not many) to even change their ways and become good users on some sites before.
While I agree that this should be dealt with (and has been), I just want to say that this is NOT a fair site. It's a site for dictators.
It still doesn't excuse what this guy did to me, but I feel it only fair to warn you guys: this type of thing may happen to you more often than you think. Unfortunately, it's just one of those things that you have to be prepared for.
So, as you may or may not know, there is a user on here who has been posting a lot of stuff lately. And I've been replying to that stuff.
His name is V4Victini. First off, it's not exactly a good name, because it's literally just "V4" and "Victini" with the letters flipped. But that's not the point.
He has openly insulted me many times, and has asked me to kill myself.
Thanks to my acute depression, I actually came close to doing so. I didn't make an attempt, don't worry. As soon as I realized what was happening, I immediately called a friend and she talked me out of it. I'm fine now.
But given how often that he posts, I don't want to risk not being safe if he insults me again. He has become a health hazard to me, and I feel that he should be banned.
I know that I am not a moderator, and have no right to make that decision.
But the fact is that Smogon Forums are no longer safe for me. As a result of his actions, I will not look at any thread. As a result, I won't be able to read or reply to anything that is posted in a thread, simply because I don't want to risk stumbling upon his "wisdom".
Having said that, there is something that you guys can do. If he ever does get banned, please PM me on the forums to let me know that it's safe to come out again and look at the threads to see what's going on.
I want to be a part of your community, but it's just not possible for both me and him to coexist. Having said that, if you'd rather ban me than him, I will welcome that decision as well. I admit that I am kinda sinking to his level a bit by saying this, so I won't try to be hypocritical and say that the mods can only ban someone when it is convenient for me. That's just being a total jerk.
Given that he is online now, I bet that this is only the beginning. Do keep an eye on his posts to see what other pearls of wisdom that he may have for us. I will no longer do so, because it is a freaking health hazard.

With the exception of this guy, no one has ever been anything but kind to me here. I love you guys. And I don't want to have to leave you. Anyways, on a serious note, I am disappointed to see the Forums gone. I realize that not a lot of people liked them, but I still would have rather seen them just change hands and being run by people who do care about them (Myself, User of Shadows, YourBoss, SaurusHam, etc.) rather than just being removed altogether.
Can't say that I'm surprised by their removal, but I am saddened by it nonetheless.
