Well SB2 will have an unrated Find Tab unless that's only for official ladder tiers as well, but I agree having a ladder for randbats would just be so much fun.
Random Battle may have a huge luck element to it, but it's still competitive. While very different to normal play, being given six Pokemon totally at random, and then playing them to the best of your ability, certainly presents a unique challenge.
Maybe identical team random battle would be good. Both players get a random team, but the SAME random team. That way the luck element is reduced to normal levels.
well a randbat ladder would make finding randbats a lot easier so i'm excited for shoddy 2
I disagree that knowing your opponents team results in a lame battle. As you may know, the current battle finder is liable to match the same people up for two battles in a row. I've found many of these 'rematches' to be highly enjoyable, just as much so as battles against an unknown team.
Of course, in these you don't know EVERYTHING about the opposing team. Also, since randbats are very much about unpredictability, identical teams lose that uniqueness.
Also, since you can't open up the team in Team Builder, you have no clue whatsoever as to the movesets/EVs/IVs/nature of your pokemon. You may have a Salamence with Substitute, Toxic, Dragon Dance, Dragon Claw or a Salamence with Fire Blast, Fire Fang, Flamethrower, Dragon Dance (just making these up), but you don't know which it is until you switch it in. (Which I think is the reason there's practically no switching in randbats.)
I would just really love the option of a "casual" ladder like this after you've had enough serious laddering for the day. Just my thoughts..
There is no way to make every random battle completely fair (to the point that the only variables are the players' skill and hax), and if there was a random battle ladder, it would be nigh impossible to get consistant ratings because of, well, the randomness.
Even if people want a "casual" ladder just for sh1ts and giggles, there would be endless bitching because how "unfair, hard and haxy" the battling is.
