Pet Mod RBY CAP (CAP 3 - Competitive Learnset)

okay cool no complaints, pac wins, don't ask me to prove it, i'm updating the sheet and stuff shortly

CAP 1 - Flavor Slate
Okay, we're done with the actual mon! All that's left would be flavor. This works a bit differently from what is currently mentioned in the OP, so pay close attention to what I say in this post. In this slate, you will be subbing all of the following - flavor moves, tradebacks-only moves, name + design origin, height, and weight. Art is not necessary but you are able to post art with your flavor sub, and if yours wins, then your art will be added to the mod completely uncontested. If the winning sub doesn't have a sprite, or even a design at all, that is perfectly fine! We'll be doing art / sprites separately if that ends up being the case.

No idea when we'll open voting but you'll at least have the next few days. See you then!

Name: Lagosnow (Lagomorph + Snow, assuming a Yuki Usagi design is used like what was worked with before)

Sprite could maybe be something like this creature from the Pokemon gigaleak;
1645633644207.png
1645633975731.png

Don't actually use the sprite, obviously...unless you want me to colour it or something? I guess I could do that, but you'd need to make a crummy back sprite.

Height: 1'02'' (bit smaller than Pikachu)
Weight: 12.1lbs (same as Jigglypuff)

Moves highlighted Yellow are already locked in and are solely there to make this look more cohesive.
Moves highlighted Blue are mandatory TMs.
Moves struck through are banned and exist for realism.

Level-Up Moves:
Tackle - L1
Growl - L1
Absorb - L6
Stun Spore - L13, similar to the ones that learn it, Paras, Butterfree, etc
Leech Seed - L15
Defense Curl - L22
Aurora Beam - L30, similar level to Vaporeon I think?
Mist - L33
Razor Leaf - L38, higher than most but still realistic
Petal Dance - L46, remember: still worse Razor Leaf, usually learned very late compared to razor
Haze - L50
  • This amounts to 11 total including Stun Spore and Razor Leaf, which is just a bit larger than Tangela's, another non-evolving Pokemon.
  • Represents both types well, gives some neat gimmick options for someone to try, particularly Growl, Defense Curl, and Leech Seed. None of these would be good, but they would be very fun and add a touch of diversity to the build.

TM Moves:
Toxic
- TM06
Body Slam - TM08
Take Down - TM09, most Pokemon learn this.
Double-Edge - TM10, learned by many Pokemon, extremely few exceptions, shouldn't break the world apart
Ice Beam - TM13
Hyper Beam - TM15, learned by every fully-evolved Pokemon except the dogshit ones
Pay Day - TM16
Rage - TM20
Mega Drain - TM21, worse Razor Leaf
Solar Beam - TM22, also worse Razor Leaf
Mimic - TM31
Double Team - TM32
Dig - TM28, kinda like a lemming digging in snow

Reflect - TM33, widespread like Reflect, allows for gimmick sets.
Bide - TM34
Swift - TM39, widespread generic move that would prolly fit an Ice-type
Skull Bash - TM40, learned by Pikachu and Raichu, would fit this design
Rest - TM44, learned by every Pokemon
Substitute - TM50, learned by every Pokemon
Flash - HM05, may as well give it one HM
  • Highlighted blue are mandatory TMs that are learned by every Pokemon compatible with a TM.
  • Moves struck through are banned by default and thus do not contribute to the competitive movepool.
  • Blizzard not included cus iirc you went in assuming it wouldn't get it?
  • Could argue to put Metronome in, I guess.

Tradeback Moves:
Headbutt - TM02, learned by a vast majority of Pokemon
Roar - TM05, most Growl learners get this, does nothing.
Light Screen - Egg Move, shared with Bulbasaur family; learned through Meganium line
Psybeam - Egg Move, shared with Parasect family; learned through chain breeding involving Butterfree maybe?
Vine Whip - Egg Move, shared with Bulbasaur family; learned through a wide variety of Grass-types
Counter - Egg Move, shared with Parasect family

Egg Moves assume it's part of the Grass Egg Group. Mostly useless, Stun Spore + Headbutt could be neat though.

Total movepool: 30, 36 with Tradebacks. This is in league with Venusaur's, and with Ice moves added in, should be a reasonable size.

While thinking of flavor I noticed something very interesting: our CAP shares a BST and one type with Gen 1 Dewgong, so I decided to make with it being a Dewgong counterpart in mind.

Required moves are Bolded.

If Stun Spore in Tradebacks is a problem, it can replace Growl in Level-Up.

My Pokémon is a collection of ice boulders with moss growing on top of them floating in a ring, in its center is an ice covered bone that resembles an icicle with a flower on top. The boulders can move freely portraying the mons' emotions. It uses it's bone in it's center to gather nutrients from the ground or it's enemies. And the flower on top is the source of it's energy.

Name, Mosunow (moss + snow)

Height: 2'03'' (isn’t too tall)
Weight: 30.1lbs (pretty heavy for its size but not that much)

Necessary moves are in bold

1.Tackle

52. Ice beam

(things are still very confusing for me, but my vote is under the assumptions that
1 reflect is ignored in all submissions that list it due to being voted against in the competitive learnset phase
2 hydregon’s submission is altered with stun spore replacing growl due to stun being voted for in the competitive learnset phase
3 that none of the design submissions except aydon’s are ‘binding’ / are treated as suggestions or ideas in the next phase but they are not ‘locked in’. whereas aydon’s design would be selected, and the next phase cancelled, if their submission were to win the vote per the rules stated at the beginning of the vote.)
[fwiw my order of these two votes would probably be switched if it weren’t for bone club, i dont rly like giving signature moves to a cap mon idk maybe thats a silly reason]

given all of this, id suggest maybe (giving people permission to change their votes? or idk) in the event anyone feels like they were misled and that their vote is not accurate eg due to the confusing rule about a design being auto-accepted or the decision to not publicly clarify what is going on with reflect until after the vote is over.
(im not assuming whether anyone would want to change their vote or if itd matter to the outcome)
