That's the point. Look at the Machop line, then you'll see.

You haven't looked through all of the R/B/Y/G sprites if you think all of them are shitty.


Most of those in the OP (some of which are mine) are just fucking awful (mine included~). Very few of them are actually worth looking at.

That's the point. The first-gen sprites are notoriously awful (ie. Machop Line, Charmeleon), besides Tentacruel, that is, and these are supposed to what it would be like if other gens' sprites were done in the same manner.
 
Steelix. Also Hippowdon, Relicanth, and Exploud to a lesser extent. Mainly Steelix though.

And dear Lord I know these Pokémon by heart but I can't come up with what that thing is after Qwilfish and before Shuckle for the life of me

Finally, it really seems that they just didn't put that much effort into these for the most part. Some of course look awesome but the terrible ones surrounding the few good ones make it seem like they didn't get more than 3 minutes of effort (see Wailord)
 
Holy crap Huntail. That may be the single funniest sprite on the whole sheet, which is saying something.

Sableye's sprite looks pretty awesome.
 
These sprites are a perfect mix of the excellent and the horrible.

What I believe to be the worst must definitely be Excadrill. It took me 10 minutes to convinve myself that it was really Excadrill.

Oh, and Jirachi looks like a Leprechaun.
 
If any of you know the Peter Crouch can do anything meme...it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the archeops sprite
