Recommended Xbox 360 games.

People love to hate what's popular. Makes them think they're unique when in reality they're only conforming to yet another group. It's pathetic.

I just personally think it's highly-overrated mediocrity. :toast:

But I would recommend The Force Unleashed if you are a Star Wars fan. It has flaws, but for the most part it is extremely fun to throw Stormtroopers around. That's really the draw. If you're not a Star Wars fan, you probably will get tired of it fairly quickly.

Peter Molyneux hasn't turned up the hype machine nearly as high as he did with Fable 1.
I guess that's true. Perhaps I'm still feeling a hangover from the bombardment last time around. Also I've seen a few videos of him talking about the game and he was still using the same grandiose language to describe the new features they were putting in.

I shall probably wait for reviews and the like to come out before I decide whether to get it or not.

A lot of people absolutely love it. I myself couldn't get into it. Either way, wait for Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise. It's the much improved sequel.

Haha, I'll let everybody know you're onto us at the next meeting.

I dislike Halo because it has an awful contrived storyline and boring characters. If multiplayer isn't your thing, Halo is a poor game.

nba2k9 is the basketball game you should get if your into that sort of thing. Virtua tennis is surprisingly entertaining, Fight night round three is a good game too

Look, Halo is an overrated game to be sure, but it is not a bad game by any means. Even you recognize that Halo is a good game but you're just not into multiplayer. Same here. Bungie has gone further than any other company with community features in Halo 3 and it really shows. Sadly, I'm not interested in multiplayer Halo so I can't take advantage of it.

I find Halo co-op to be quite a bit of fun. I'm not sure what story has to do with it. Taking down some scarabs working with two or three other friends in Legendary is a blast and it's all that matters.

Seriously though, every game that hits super-popular gets a huge amount of haters for some reason. They're a lot more outspoken too because they feel their "different" for hating it. Halo, Final Fantasy VII, Counter-Strike, Ocarina of Time, the list goes on.

Thanks, Surgo!

let's not get crazy here

nobody hates ocarina of time D:

Anyway I really do think Halo 3 (I'll keep my criticisms to just that, the first Halo was pretty fun, remembering) is a bad game. It just doesn't have any of the things I value most in a game - compelling story, memorable characters, innovation, varied gameplay etc. Yeah, it's got good online aspects, but games like CoD4 have proven you don't have to sacrifice a varied, well-made single player campaign to achieve that.

I guess different people will always have different standards, though, so you may well consider it great for its co-op - I haven't spent much time with that (only own one controller); you're probably right.

All I'm really objecting to is the idea that people hate it to seem different. There are lots of valid reasons people might not like the game, dismissing them all with a strawman is kind of dumb. And yeah, the more popular a game gets, the more detractors it will amass. This is because it is exposed to a larger number of people, ergo a larger number who won't like it.

I don't dismiss all the hate to do that, but when I see statements not backed up by anything, then that's the reason I'll default to most often.

Halo 3 has online co-op too, so jump in sometime ;) Hell, I wouldn't mind doing a Smogon 4 player co-op run through Halo 3 once I get my 360 back from Microsoft (it blew on Thursday night). I haven't got all the skulls anyway! It's really a lot of fun with four players. But then again, so is everything.

I didn't find CoD4's single player to be any better than Halo 3's myself.
