Pet Mod Regional Evolutions 2: Paldean Boogaloo - Slate #5 (Least-Represented Types)

:sv/tadbulb: :sv/bellibolt:
Original Species: Tadbulb
New Region: Distortion World
Category: Tadpole
Height: 0.3 m
Weight: 0.4 kg
Typing: Poison / Ground
Abilities: Own Tempo | Unaware | Damp
Stats: 61 HP / 31 Atk / 41 Def / 59 SpAtk / 35 SpDef / 45 Spe [272]

Removed Level-Up Moves: Thunder Shock, Charge, Spark, Discharge, Electric Terrain, Zap Cannon
Added Level-Up Moves: Earthquake, Toxic Spikes, Sludge Bomb, Acid Armor, Sludge Wave, Dig
Removed TM Moves: Charge Beam, Volt Switch, Electro Ball, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Electric Terrain, Thunder, Charge, Electroweb, Wild Charge
Added TM Moves: Venoshock, Poison Jab, Bulldoze, Stomping Tantrum, Gunk Shot, Curse, Amnesia, Stealth Rock
Removed Egg Moves: Parabolic Charge

Flavor/Design: Tadbulb but with more of a purple and brown scheme. Looks a little ill too.

Competitive Info: Tadbulb.

"These Pokemon hide in the waters of the Distorted World, hiding from anyone's presence."
"It is speculated that these Pokemon give nutrition to the strange plants in the Distortion World with their toxins."
Original Species: Tadbulb
New Region: Distortion World
Category: Zombie Frog
Height: 1.2 m
Weight: 60 kg
Typing: Poison / Ground
Abilities: Poison Point | Unaware | Damp
Stats: 109 HP / 100 Atk / 98 Def / 60 SpAtk / 83 SpDef / 45 Spe [495]

Removed Level-Up Moves: Thunder Shock, Charge, Spark, Discharge, Electric Terrain, Zap Cannon
Added Level-Up Moves: Earthquake, Toxic Spikes, Sludge Bomb, Acid Armor, Sludge Wave, Dig
Removed TM Moves: Charge Beam, Volt Switch, Electro Ball, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Electric Terrain, Thunder, Charge, Electroweb, Wild Charge
Added TM Moves: Venoshock, Poison Jab, Bulldoze, Stomping Tantrum, Gunk Shot, Curse, Amnesia, Stealth Rock
Removed Egg Moves: Parabolic Charge

Flavor/Design: More frog-like compared to Bellibolt with the purple and brown scheme as well. Based on Synapturanus zombie frog.

Competitive Info: Defensive Poison/Ground equipped with Unaware (ik this is just clodsire but shush). This is mainly to respond to the amount of Electrics we have in the mod, but also so that Golisargil can focus more being offensive.

"They move underground and feed on the dirt, hence never needing to go out of the ground."
"If any moving thing near it poses a threat, Bellitoxin will spray a toxic gas at the target. Causing them to lose their rationality and act like zombies."

Slate #4 - Voting Phase

No vetoes this time around, thankfully (aside from some fixes on my part for my own subs) - I'll allow the subs that were posted after the 24-hour warning since they were the only submissions provided by their respective entrants. So on that note, here are your options this time around...

********************

For convenience, here is the rule for voting, copied directly from the header post for this mod:
"You may vote for up to 7 evolutionary families per slate, and your votes should include both the family of your choice and the username (preferably without tagging them directly) of their creator. You cannot self-vote more than two submissions, and if you do self-vote, vote for at least three more submissions that aren't yours. In addition, please tag your self-votes or your entire vote collection will be rejected."
Tentatively, this voting phase will last for 48 hours, meaning the winners - by which I mean the entries that have received the three highest vote counts per entry - will be decided on Sunday, October 6 shortly after 8 PM EST. Depending on forum activity, though, this period may be shortened or lengthened as needed.

Each slate will have a maximum of 6 winning submissions, with placement slots based on the top three vote counts. If there are 6 or fewer winners in all three slots combined, they will all be submitted, but if the total exceeds that number, at least one slot will require a tiebreaker poll to trim them down. If there is only one winner for each of two slots, the third slot can accommodate up to four winners, but no more than that before the tiebreaker is required. So as a general rule, I will establish a tiebreaker poll if at least one placement slot includes more than four winners.

Happy voting, everyone!

Please welcome Rasdanation's Johtonian Tutonator line (first place with 5 votes) and lavarina's Distorted Tadbulb line and Ubertrainer2000's Sinnohan Salandit line (both in second place with 4 votes each) to this mod's dex! As for the third place slots, we have just three left and five candidates that got 3 votes each, so without further ado, here they are...

-----

For this tiebreaker, only the top three winning submissions will be accepted. Therefore, this is a RANKED poll - you can only pick three entries among these five based on preferential order, from most preferred to least. Your first place vote gets three points, your second place vote gets two points, and your third place vote gets one points. You may submit ONE self-vote as long as you tag it accordingly, but do NOT put the self-vote in first place.

The tentative timeline for this slate is 48 hours (though it can be extended or shortened depending on forum activity), so you have until 6 PM EST on Wednesday, October 9 to submit your votes. Good luck!

And so the two empty regions, Sinnoh and the Future side of Area Zero, get representatives at long last....Dolliata and Altilazzle are the Ubertrainer winners this time, and thus, they earn the best gift of them all....three movesets for each one!

While I was at it, I also fixed the TMs and suchlike to suit the Gen IX TM list, and nerfed Deafening Roar as well thanks to feedback from the server - it's now a Bug Buzz clone rather than a Boomburst one.

And so the future Doliv line became an unused idea after all....(But at least the Sinnohian Salandit line made it in: Hey, I'm seeing Deja Vu here)
*notices that the next slate is the free one*

UNLESS....

Please welcome Glubbfubb as our newest Council member! This is their first time in a role like this, but I'm sure they'll be able to do a great job! So on that happy note, it's onto the next slate...

Slate #5: Least-Represented Types

Here are the tallies for all 18 types among the winning submissions for this mod thus far:

Bug: 3 regional forms, 2 regional evolutions, 5 total
Dark: 4 regional forms, 3 regional evolutions, 7 total
Dragon: 9 regional forms, 6 regional evolutions, 15 total
Electric: 3 regional forms, 4 regional evolutions, 7 total
Fairy: 9 regional forms, 6 regional evolutions, 15 total
Fighting: 3 regional forms, 3 regional evolutions, 6 total
Fire: 2 regional forms, 1 regional evolutions, 3 total
Flying: 4 regional forms, 3 regional evolutions, 7 total
Ghost: 5 regional forms, 3 regional evolutions, 8 total
Grass: 4 regional forms, 2 regional evolutions, 6 total
Ground: 4 regional forms, 3 regional evolutions, 7 total
Ice: 3 regional forms, 2 regional evolutions, 5 total
Normal: 7 regional forms, 3 regional evolutions, 10 total
Poison: 4 regional forms, 4 regional evolutions, 8 total
Psychic: 2 regional forms, 3 regional evolutions, 5 total
Rock: 1 regional forms, 1 regional evolutions, 2 total
Steel: 3 regional forms, 2 regional evolutions, 5 total

Water: 5 regional forms, 4 regional evolutions, 9 total

For our second free slate for this mod, we will be focusing on the types that are least-represented thus far: Bug, Ice, Psychic, and Steel (all with 5 reps each), Fire (with 3 reps), and Rock (with a mere 2 reps, the poor thing). Each of your subs is required to have at least one of these six types, with both the regional forms and their corresponding regional evolutions having your type of choice. You can pick whatever you want for the other type if any, with the exception of the three most-represented types (Dragon and Fairy at 15 reps each, and Normal at 10 reps). That said, it is greatly preferred (though not strictly required) to pick one of the other types from the least-represented list for the optional type - for example, if you pick Bug as your first type, then Bug/Ice, Bug/Psychic, Bug/Steel, Bug/Fire, and Bug/Rock would all be acceptable and preferable type combinations, as will Ice/Bug, Steel/Bug, Fire/Bug, and Rock/Bug. However, Bug/Dragon, Bug/Fairy, and Bug/Normal will be vetoed by default.

Formatting your subs according to the official submission format for this pet mod is not a strict requirement, but doing so would be vastly preferable to save me and any coders brought on board in the future a ton of potential headaches. For convenience, the template for all submission elements is provided in the premiere post.

The deadline for submissions for this slate will be Friday, October 18 at 8 AM EST, meaning you have one week from today to get your entries in. The evaluation period will begin 48 hours before the official deadline, and you will not be allowed to make any new submissions after the 24-hour warning before the deadline. Until then, happy submitting!

Notable Moves:
  • Added Moves: Heat Wave, Iron Head, Earth Power, Spikes, Sandstorm, Shore Up
  • Removed Moves: Rain Dance, Water Pulse,
Flavor/Design:
Based on fried ice cream. Vanillite had arrived in Kitakami through outsiders, and those who were released into the wild found the climate a bit too hot to handle. The Crystal Pool was the only place where they could keep cool in peace, but the minerals seemed to have had an effect...
Design-wise, the crystals of its body resemble Tera Shards, while the snow on its head has become grey.

The second free slate has viewers divided: Literally! Half of the entries are returning Pokémon that nearly got their chance at victory, only to be thrown in with the rest of the rejected ideas at the last minute, while the other half consists of Starter Pokémon from regions that won't be covered again in a loooooooooooooooooong while! Enjoy!
....Or so we thought...the unexpected rules of the slate means that we sadly had to reject Distorted Chinchou line from these submissions, and recent rules meant that the starters had to be cut as well. Thus, Distorted Wooloo, Ultra Pancham, Lentalese Ekans, and Alolan Combee will be taking their place. Who knows when they'll be back?
(Returning from the second slate, having lost the tiebreaker)

New Region: Galar, more notably the Crown Tundra
obZcxGC.png

Pokémon: Belldew (Bell + Budew)
Category: Bell
New Typing: =
New Abilities: Natural Cure / Prankster / Filter
New Stats: 40/50/70/30/55/35 (280)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Heal Bell, Fairy Wind, Hyper Voice, Iron Head, Play Rough, Dazzling Gleam, Flash Cannon, Alluring Voice, Psychic Noise, Steel Beam
Removed Moves: All Grass and Poison-type moves
Flavor/Design: While this Pokémon was believed to be a regional variant of Budew, it is in fact an entirely different species. It's front bib now gone, it rings every day both to wake people up for a good morning, and in a vain attempt to get the King of Bountiful Harvest's steed back to the world.
"At the crack of dawn, this Pokémon rings it's bell-like body around to wake everyone up for a brand new day. It was once thought to be a Galarian variant of Budew."
"People once rung Belldew as part of a song related to their king. The song was thought to have brought a bountiful harvest upon their land, blessed by the king himself."

uOxdbLx.png

Pokémon: Ringelia (Ring + Roselia)
Category: Bell
New Typing: =
New Abilities: Natural Cure / Prankster / Filter
New Stats: 50/80/100/60/65/45 (400)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Draining Kiss, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Wild Charge, Supercell Slam
Removed Moves: All Grass and Poison-type moves
Flavor/Design: Ringelia has two long ears where the spikes would be, with the middle one being absent. It's two roses are now a pair of bells that it rings to help people remember their lost ones, which would be a perfect fit if Calyrex's Steed was Spectrier, as it can often be found near the Old Cemetery.
"When it rings it's two bells around like they were sacred chimes, people around them can remember their loved ones."
"It's said that one rings it's bells every time a living being perishes, so people once referred them as "The Moment of Sorrow"."

tLJPjjQ.png

Pokémon: Jestelia (Jester + Roselia)
Evolution Method: While standing in the Crown Shrine, do a 360 degree spin.
Category: Jester
Weight: 45.3 lbs.
New Typing: = (Slate rules meant that the Fairy typing had to be removed)
New Abilities: Natural Cure / Prankster / Filter
New Stats: 60/100/110/80/75/90 (515)
Role: Prankster Support
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Switcheroo, Foul Play, Thunder Wave, Confuse Ray
Flavor/Design
: Upon fully evolving, Jestelia gains the look of a classical jester, as if it had become Calyrex's personal court jester itself. From a yellow tuft of hair, a red streamer and a blue streamer extend from it, both having bells on their tips. It's red and blue body has a yellow middle portion, with red and blue arms extending from them, each with a bell at the end. It's red and blue legs also have bells on them, with red and blue tips on the end. This Pokémon tries it's best to cheer up everyone around it by performing strange dances that supposedly resembled the former jesters that once served Calyrex itself.
"This Pokémon resembles a jester that used to work for a legendary king. It dances around with it's six bells, cheering up everyone around it."
"Each of it's six bells are for a different occasion, but all of them are used for combat. It's said that the bell's sounds will never leave your head."
(Returning from the fourth slate, having lost the tiebreaker....hmm, are we seeing a pattern here?)
RaX01Ld.png
77y1dPt.png
puuc4AO.png

New Region: Area Zero (Future)
RaX01Ld.png

Pokémon: Smoline (Smoliv + Line)
Category: Bulb
New Typing: Steel=
New Abilities: Early Bird / Download
New Stats: 41/35/45/58/51/30 (260)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Metal Claw, Psybeam, Conversion, Iron Defense, Flash Cannon, Iron Head, Court Change, Thunderbolt, Thunder, Wild Charge, Electric Terrain, Rising Voltage, Thunder Wave, Volt Switch, Steel Beam
Removed Moves: All Grass-type moves
Flavor/Design: This future relative of Smoliv described in a lost page resembles it's namesake, albeit without any legs and it's leaves being merged together into one. Supposedly, it once served as a power conduit in it's original timeline.

Flavor/Design: Dolline has a plug on the top of it's head in lieu of a tuft of leaves, and it's two legs have merged into a levitation device that keeps it afloat. It can only be found in Area Zero, and not much is known about it, but it has an interest on the abandoned machines of the area.
"This Pokémon supposedly resembles a database manager in a dubious magazine. Apparently, children love drawing pictures of it."
"This charger robot resembles a Dolliv described in a certain book, but most scientists claim that the two are completely unrelated."

Pokémon:
Dolliata (Dolliv + Data)
Evolution: Level up Dolline to level 35.
Weight: 89.3 lbs.

New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Recover, Steel Roller, Psychic, Psyshock

Flavor/Design: A lost page of the Violet Book describes this Pokémon as "Iron Librarian", possessing a wide body that levitates in the area, two two streamers made out of Dolliv's dress extending from either side. This body has a white underbelly, as well as two white arms. The white head has a blue tuft of hair on the top with two bulbs that have blue streamers extending from them on either side, and two grey spots that resemble goggles in the middle. The Magazine Occulture theorizes that it once served as a database manager in the world's largest digital library, capable of searching out the right data in microseconds.
"A mysterious magazine described a machine similar to this Pokémon. Apparently, it could hold over five hundred terabytes of data."
"It resembles a mysterious object described in an old book, which claimed that it was the ultimate database."

Removed Moves: Copycat, Stomp, all non-universal Fighting and Electric-type moves
Flavor/Design: This variant of Wooloo is based off the Vegetable Lamb of Tartary, lacking horns and having a strange fern extending from the top of it's wool. Camouflaging in with the trees of the Distortion World, many people have passed by a Distorted Wooloo, thinking it was an actual tree.
"This Pokémon moves with the trees of it's home dimension, warping it's body accordingly. No-one has ever seen it speak or eat."
"They gather in herds of 100, hiding their faces from everyone. Once they have done so, they are impossible to distinguish from a tree."

New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Confuse Ray, Simple Beam, Flower Shield, Shadow Ball, Calm Mind
Removed Moves: Copycat, Stomp, all non-universal Fighting and Electric-type moves
Flavor/Design: Distorted Dubwool has a set of wool that seems to resemble a Distortion World tree on the top of the wool itself, more notably where the grey area used to be: It also lacks the black spots on the wool. In addition, it retains the pigtails of it's previous form, but it does not have the long horns that regular Dubwool have. It's wool is actually made up of developing Wooloo embryos, and it scatters them across the Distortion World's soil, no matter how unstable they are, creating an endless forest.
"What appears to be wool are actually millions of developing Wooloo embryos. It walks around, sowing them into unstable soil."
"This Pokémon only moves when it is dispersing it's seeds. As such, researchers initially thought they were a plant, not a Pokémon."

New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Phantom Force, Hypnosis, Expanding Force, U-Turn
Role: Grassy Terrain Support
Flavor/Design: Now drawing additional inspiration from the Shub-Niggurath, Dushugara consists of a long wooly body with a stem at the bottom anchoring at down. At the middle of this body is the head, it's eyes now completley yellow, and the pigtails now extending from either side of it. Several branches extend out from the body, each having a tiny Wooloo at the end of it: In addition, it has two branches on the bottom that consist entirely of Wooloos. Howevever, zooming into the Wooloos reveals a tiny microscopic Dushugara on where their fern would be, and those Dushugaras in turn have smaller Wooloos attached to them, creating an infinite cycle that goes all the way down past quantum foam: In fact, no-one has ever gotten to the end of it's branches. They create an infinite forest in which there is no escape, as it can shrink it's victims down to make them think they are still inside. It's said to represent Giratina's endless cycle of distortions themselves.
"On each of it's stems are an endless number of Wooloos, and on each Wooloo is a smaller Dushugura. Researchers have found no end to this endless cycle."
"Dushugura is said to represent the eternal cycle of infinity. Those that try to find the end of it's endless branches have been driven to insanity."

Flavor/Design: Codenamed "UB Survival", Ultra Pancham is based off the Tardigrade. It has two extra arms on each side of it's body, and it's head is completley fossilized, it's eyes lacking pupils, though it still holds a leaf on it's mouth. Compared to the other Ultra Beasts, it's actually kind of docile, but it can survive in any environment possible. Witnesses claimed that it could survive a +6 Attack Explosion without a scratch.
"One of the mysterious Ultra Beasts, witnesses have seen it survive in areas that even other Pokémon cannot survive in."
"Although it's an Ultra Beast, it is surprisingly calm. The fossilized helmet it wields is said to date back to prehistoric times."

Flavor/Design: Codenamed "UB Adaptation" and now possessing the brutality of a regular Pangoro, Ultra Pangoro possesses two extra arms, and it's fossilized head now wears a green blindfold, with it's spiky hair now gone. The stone on it's body is said to be the fossilized remains of a being that existed since the beginning of time in it's dimension. and witnesses had once seen it converting the area around it into a cellular fossilized dimension by spinning it's long arms around.
"A dangerous life form known as an Ultra Beast, it lives in a world that never seems to change at all."
"Although it's alien to this world and a danger here, it's apparently a common organism in the world where it normally lives."

New Stats: 107/127/107/67/113/37 (558)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Crunch, Bullet Punch, Iron Head
Role: Risky Powerhouse
Flavor/Design: Codenamed "UB Eternal", Tardigoro draws inspiration from Spectrobe's Naguzoro. From a large body with a giant mouth laced with razor sharp teeth, three eyelike patterns decorate the top above the mouth's jaw, while two swirls decorate the side. It now has four feet with two toes on them, and a segmented tail that ends in a blue section. The fossilized helmet has been converted into a tuft of stone, with two razor sharp jaws extending from the top: It retains the four arms of their previous form, though they are not shown to scale in the above sprite. The now green head retrains the blindhold, but now has blue ears. It's said that this Ultra Beast has survived since the beginning of time, constantly evolving it's body to fight against danger: However, witnesses claim that nothing can kill this Pokémon, and it could supposedly survive the destruction of the entire universe!
"One of the mysterious Ultra Beasts that came from the Ultra Wormhole, witnesses claim that it has lived since the beginning of time."

Removed Moves: Poison Sting, Acid, Acid Spray, Belch, Haze, Gunk Shot, Poison Jab, Rain Dance, Seed Bomb, Giga Drain, Mud Slap, Mud Shot, Dig, Earthquake
Flavor/Design: Arbok already exists in Lental, but those were the ones in the Founja Jungle. A small population of them also exist at Voluca Island, where the intense heat of the Sweltering Sands forced the local Ekans to adapt a look based off the Red Spitting Cobra, having a small red frill on the back of it's head. It's fangs also show up earlier, and it's eyes become capable of hypnotizing even the most willing of Pokémon to help it do it's commands.
"By gazing at it's victim's eyes, it can control the heat in their body to turn them onto their side."
"Capable of spitting enough fire to smelt sand into glass, this Pokémon's prized weapon is it's eyes, which can hypnotize even the bravest of people."

Flavor/Design: Once Ekans has managed to evolve into Arbok, it's two frills extend to either side, as it's belly pattern gains a bright yellow eye on the middle. It also gains a bright yellow stripe extending from it's eyes. Capable of withstanding any kind of heat, the pattern on Lentalese Arbok's stomach serves as a second pair of eyes, not only being capable of tracking down prey, even through walls, but also hypnotizing other Pokémon and consuming them in a sea of flames.
"The pattern on it's stomach serves as a second set of eyes, allowing it to thrive through even eye-melting temperatures. It does not get along well with the Arbok of Belusylva Island."
"Those that see Arbok's infernal eyes will become a flaming effigy in seconds. Arbok then consumes their heat whole, turning them into mindless husks."

In this form, it's head becomes bright black with red eyes, with a yellow frill extending down from the bottom, each frill having an eye that can gaze straight through a victim's soul. It's snake body now has black rings with golden sides attached to them, and it regains the golden tail spike at the end of it's body. Known as "The Emperor of the Desert" by some people, those who catch even a glimpse of it will be forced to do it's bidding until the end of time.
"The all seeing eyes of Kobralleh can control people who catch even a glimpse of it. No-one has ever been able to reverse it's hypnotism."

Pokémon: Alolan Combee
Category: Tiny Spider
New Typing: =

New Abilities: Snow Gather / Hustle
New Stats: 60/30/47/30/47/30 (244)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Powder Snow, String Shot, Spider Web
Removed Moves: Gust, Sweet Scent (Also no longer learns Struggle Bug by levelling, but can still learn the move via TM)
Flavor/Design: Deep within the icy caves of Mount Lanakila, a group of Combees that were originally imported for honey gathering had been forced to adapt to the harsh weather, adapting a look based off the Theridion grallator. Instead of wings, this Pokémon has two long black legs with icy tips at the end, with two smaller tips at the bottom: In addition, Female Combees have the red area on all three of their members. Spinning a web of ice to catch it's prey, the trio is more co-ordinated than regular Combee, with each one having it's role in the web. Oh, and only Female Combees can evolve further, just like their regular form.
"Harsh blizzards have grounded this Pokémon to the ground, but it has also forced the trio to work together."
"It produces a string comparable to snow to form a web, which it combines with it's fellow Combee to create a home for their master."

New Abilities: Snow Gather / Unnerve
New Stats: 70/70/102/70/102/60 (474)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Heal Order, Icicle Spear, Icy Wind, Aurora Veil, Sticky Web, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Snowscape, Stealth Rock, Ice Spinner, Triple Axel
Removed Moves: All Flying-type moves except Acrobatics, Toxic, Sunny Day
Flavor/Design: Instead of a beehive thorax, Alolan Vespiquen possesses an icy globe with six black legs coming from it, having icy tips on the end. It's head also now possesses a mouth, and the jaws are a lot shorter. But most importantly, unlike regular Vespiquen, the trio that made up Combee does not merge into one upon evolving: Instead, two of the members rest as icy crystals on either side of Vespiquen, replacing the wings. It takes great care of these two members, making sure that they are never harmed as it creates an icy web the size of a building. Unlike regular Vespiquen, Alolan Vespiquen is less demanding to it's fellow Combee, allowing them to rest if needed.
"This Pokémon traps it's prey in an icy web that can freeze almost anything in microseconds. It's very caring for it's two developing young."
"The icy globe that makes up it's thorax is said to have seen every blizzard that exists. It makes it's home in only the vastest of icy caves."

New Stats: 80/90/92/90/92/110 (554)
New Moves: (Moves in bold are level-up moves) Play Rough, Rapid Spin, Taunt, Volt Switch
Role: Suicide Lead
Flavor/Design: As the two developing members finally grow up, so does Vespiquen itself, evolving into Vespigrall, who is partially based off the three fates! This Pokémon actually consists of three seperate spiders, each having a crystalline body with blue shoulders that have blue arms on the end, and a bright blue thorax on the bottom. From this thorax, four legs extend down which can merge into two for mobility. The heads of the spiders are bright blue, having Vespiquen's antenna and jaws attached to them. From there, the spider's appearances change: The left spider represents Clotho, and has a bright blue leftwards icicle extending from both it's body and it's head. The middle spider, representing Lachesis, has two icy pigtails coming from it's antenna, and two icicles on each side of it's body. Finally, the right spider, representing Atropos, has a large ice crystal extending from the right of it's body, and it's rightmost antenna covers up one of it's eyes. The three spiders each have their own role in creating a web, and it's said that they can witness fate happen simply by focusing amongst the blizzards.
"The trio having fully grown at last, each one has a different strategy which they all combine to destroy their opponents, and a different role in the web of Combees."
"Capable of separating their legs for mobility at any time, no-one has ever seen the trio bicker at all. Together, they can create a web the size of a skyscraper in nanoseconds."

I don't think I mentioned this until now, but I'm actually just a little bit iffy on variants/regional evos of starter Pokemon at this time, in part because while regional variants do exist in the case of the Hisui starters, regional evolutions of starters haven't been attempted before. Mainly, however, starter lines always come in a set of three families that often have a shared theme, so hypothetically speaking, that means you'll have to sub all three families as a single collective submission in the vein of the Legends: Arceus starter variants. I can't speak for anyone else right now, but I'd personally hold off on starter variants/evos until we collectively decide how to handle them (either as a linked three-family set or in separate categories), though there's something to be said for dedicating a whole themed slate to them specifically in the future.

Anyway...

This Doduo lives in tropical forests, and has a fruity scent to it. Its feathers are a dark brown rather than tan with a slightly frizzled, almost spiny look to them, and a round bald patch can be seen on the front revealing green skin. Several black dots surround the bases of the necks, which remain black in color, while the feet and beak are the same shade of green as the bald patch; notably, the beaks are shorter, thicker, and rounder, almost looking like fruits that were cut in half. The eyes are yellow rather than black, to better stand out against the darker color of its two faces. The shiny has orange eyes and pink skin and beaks instead of green, as a reference to pink kiwi fruit, but is otherwise unchanged.

"A Doduo found in tropical forests, it adapted to a vegetarian diet to harvest the abundance of food in the jungle. Its feathers have a delicious scent due to eating so much fruit."
"Upon eating its fill, it will find a clearing and then spit any seeds in its stomach all over the soil. Apparently, seeds from fruit it's digested grow much more quickly than normal."

Flavor:
A massive, three-headed rainforest bird with no wings to speak of, Dodreema's plump, round body is covered in mottled dark green, leafy plumage whose drooping fern fronds fade to brown on the ends. This makes it resemble a massive bush when at rest, its folded legs hidden under it and its long neck held near the ground and curled around its body. When it has to move, however, the "bush" springs to life and rises up on immense legs more like those of Tyrantrum than any bird, entirely covered in rocky gray-brown scales like petrified tree bark over its legs and sporting three blunt, hoof-like black claws on each columnar foot. All three of its necks resemble thin tree trunks, covered in rings of gray bark that are scaled in texture like the legs, and the heads are covered in the same leaf-feathers as the body, their faces obscured by more drooping fronds like "emo hair" crossed with a mop head. Protruding from each vegetative mass is an enormous stony beak, dark brown in color with a whitish gray interior, that resembles both a coconut shell and a small boulder when closed; these beaks are shorter and sturdier than those of Dodrio, and can use as a fearsome weapons against anything that threatens their owner via slamming pecks and crushing bites - despite this savage look, however, it is an herbivore, feeding on fruits, leaves, and hard seeds, though it's nonetheless a terror to any Grass-type it can fit down its throat. Its tail and the tops of its heads sport lighter green, leafy plumes for display, resembling those of Dodrio. The shiny color scheme has dark red-brown bark on their legs, necks, and tail feathers, and the beaks are light green like a ripe coconut shell.

Potential Competitive Gameplay:
A living fossil of sorts, Dodreema has the same type weaknesses and resistances as a far more ancient Pokémon, Cradily. It likewise has a similar stat setup, but differs by having more physical attacking power and HP at the cost of its defenses, though it still has decent mixed bulk that can help it deal with Electric, Water, and Normal attackers without too much issue. Its advantage over Cradily is that it's not as easy to switch into or set up on due to possessing both greater offensive power and several strong coverage attacks such as Superpower, Iron Head, Earthquake, Brave Bird, and Beak Buster - the last two help cover for Bug-types that resist Rock, and Beak Breaker works as a utility/damage tool to chip away at opponents' defenses if you don't like Brave Bird's recoil. That's not getting into its devastating STAB attacks like Wood Hammer and Head Smash, though if you're not fond of recoil there's also Leaf Blade and Stone Edge - Ancient Power's stat boosts are tempting, but it being a special attack means the results might not be worth it. Leaf Guard makes Dodreema a viable choice for Sun Teams which can justify Solar Blade as its Grass-type STAB, while Stamina and Harvest are both useful in their own ways for defensive purposes with the former allowing it to better trade hits with bulky physical attackers and the latter giving it more healing and buff options with various Berries. Like Cradily, though, it is as slow as it is enormous, and its vulnerability to common attacking types like Fighting and Ice often necessitate allies that can clear away such threats to give it a better chance of bringing its hardest-hitting moves into play.

"This ancient kind of Dodrio lives deep in the jungle, soaking up the sun all day with its plant-like plumage. While it mainly eats fruit, it may also prey on smaller Grass-type Pokémon with its three powerful beaks."
"The leafy feathers growing from its immense body allow it to camouflage itself from danger. Fossils of its ancestors are thought to have inspired local legends of giants that shook the ground as they walked."

This design is based on the prehistoric anatid (duck) relative, Gastornis, and specifically the fact that despite being historically portrayed as a fearsome predator, it was more recently confirmed to actually be a plant-eater - it does fit this latest research, but towards plant Pokémon it acts like the old art of "Diatryma" preying on smaller animals. This was originally going to be a standalone sub for a different mod, but I ultimately decided to sub it here as a regional Doduo evo instead since it just made sense to tie it into the already-existing flightless birds of Kanto, so I gave it a jungle aesthetic since the bird it's now based on lived in a tropical environment at the time of its existence. The Doduo variant followed suit, and of course, it's a pun on the kiwi, as in both the bird and the fruit.

Flavor/Design:
Somehow, a Staryu - or a piece thereof; seeing as starfish can multiply after being cut apart, who would know the difference? - ended up being dropped off in the Distortion World, and reacted to its eldritch energy, turning into a living stone effigy of itself. Attempting to move led to it crumbling to pieces, but then they started making more and more Staryu, and now there's a whole army of these evil-eyed stony abominations everywhere! These Staryu are almost blindingly white instead of brown (or slate-gray in case of the shiny), with tentacles that are segmented and conical instead of pyramid-like, as well as being narrower and longer; these twitch and wriggle like octopus tentacles and allow it to haul itself slowly along, since it can't simply yeet itself like a shuriken anymore. The golden center portion is still there, but brass-colored instead, and the jewel in the center is now vivid acid-green with a red diamond-shaped marking in the center like a slitted pupil. It is this gemstone that emits a mysterious force that locks down the nervous system of its victims, allowing it to drain all the life force from them; petrified husks are often left in their wake, with some still crawling on them as though trying to suck the dregs of life from them with the sucker-like mouths in the midst of all their tentacles. Spooooooky.

Stat and Gameplay Changes:
I didn't change the numbers at all compared to Kantonian Staryu's stat spread, just rearranged them - this Staryu is much slower but more heavily attack-oriented than its predecessor. Its Special Attack is still its best stat, but there's a distinct lack of good special Rock attacks to make use of it, so the poor thing is stuck with Power Gem and Ancient Power. Evolution will definitely change this, however...

"A type of Staryu from the Distortion World whose body is completely petrified. The mysterious force allowing it to move like a living Staryu comes from the eye-like gemstone at its center."
"Staring into its central jewel seems to induce extreme terror, leaving victims scared stiff as it makes its escape. Some say it can even take over the mind of anyone looking directly at it."

Flavor/Design:
Like Distorted Staryu, this is a Starmie with thinner, segmented arms than its Kanto form, its center gem being the same round green one with a red pupil as Staryu. Notably, though, five of its arms sport a simple round gem on the end as well, making them essentially eyestalks; the other five are plain. The arms of this Starmie are blue in color with darker blue random streaks on them, with the shiny's being red, referring to sapphire and ruby, but also blue and red marble; the center portion remains bronze-colored like with its predecessor.

Potential Competitive Info:
As with Distorted Staryu, Speed, Special Attack, and Special Defense have been rearranged to produce a Starmie that's slower, but specially sturdier and more powerful when it comes to ranged attacks. With the added Ghost type, it can now make good use of Shadow Ball, but some more specialized attacks might be useful for it later...
This line was originally going to be just Distorted Staryu and Stargoneion below, but I added Distorted Starmie for this resubmission to smooth the transition. I like the idea of it logically progressing from five arms, to ten, to fifteen total.

"Upon evolving, five of its arms have developed jewel-like eyes of their own, allowing it to see in any direction. However, only the largest central eye is capable of unleashing its deadliest attacks."
"If you somehow survive looking into its middle eye, the spirit energy emitted by it may still drive you insane. Those who've escaped it will forever react to anything star-shaped with absolute terror."

Flavor/Design:
This many-armed eldritch horror resulted from a Distorted Starmie's regenerating process going haywire. It has fifteen arms in total, every one of them narrower, longer, and segmented and conical rather than pyramidal, and again, its center portion is now a bit larger proportionally, and is brass-colored with a round, green gem sporting a red diamond-shaped "pupil", with five small spikes in a ring around it. However, its five main arms are now colored rusty red with dull pink streaks like red marble (the shiny's arms are black, i.e. black marble), and each segment of each arm has a small spike on the underside for additional traction. The secondary arms are simple stalks which are stark white in color, and lapis-lazuli blue in the shiny. Most frightening of all, every one of its arms is tipped with a smaller green gem of its own; the ones on the secondary arms are little round gems, but each of the ones on the main arms has its own pupil. This enables it to see virtually anything anywhere, and some even believe it can see into the past or future, though this has yet to be proven. Notably, unlike the Kantonian Staryu line, it lies flat on the ground, at least five of its arms raised like eyestalks at all times while the rest pull it along. On its underside, at the center of all of its arms, is a five-part beak not unlike Omastar, the purpose of which is unclear - like Distorted Staryu and Starmie, it "eats" by absorbing life force through its eyes - but whatever it's used for, it can't be any good...
The shiny color schemes of Distorted Staryu, Distorted Starmie, and Stargoneion have vivid orange eyes with dark brown pupil markings. This is of course a reference to tiger's eye gemstones, while the regular colors are a more saturated version of cat's eye gems.

Stat Changes:
For this last stage, I added 20 points to HP, and 20 points each to Special Attack and Special Defense, but removed 20 points from Speed for balance's sake. Slower but even more specially gifted than either Kantonian or Distorted Starmie, Stargoneion is a beam-spammer that's mainly here to royally fuck up someone's day while the chance is there, and preferably before it gets shattered to bits and dumped in the trash to make way for the next party member. Thankfully, its Ghost-type gives it a Fighting immunity and it can hit right back with Shadow Ball and Death Stare, while Gem Glimmer and Refracture are also useful for dishing out paralysis and lowering accuracy respectively. Its main failing is its six type weaknesses, all common and all dangerous, and while Draining Kiss helps with recovery and against Dark-types, its HP isn't quite good enough to justify it so much, and while it still has plenty of Water and Electric attacks to take on Ground- and Water-types respectively, that's about as far as its coverage goes, sadly. Of note however is that hidden ability, Serene Grace - given that two of its best STAB moves have a chance of inducing status, and two others have a chance of lowering specific stats, Stargoneion is capable of pulling off some pretty hax strategies involving either technique, abusing either flinching or paralysis to stop opponents in their tracks and give itself or its teammates the chance to really cause mayhem.

"Its many eyes are said to be able to see the past or the future, but no one has found out if this is true - and it's too hostile for this to be of use anyway. One can tell if a Stargoneion has been around by the presence of statues that look disturbingly life-like."
"Its appearance strikes fear into the hearts of even the bravest of souls, allowing it to freely terrorize everyone it comes across. Ironically, shields and masks are sometimes fashioned in its image to protect their owners from other supernatural threats."

Did you know that there's a genus of basket star - a member of the brittle star order - called Gorgonocephalus? I've wanted to do something with that idea for a while now, but I wasn't sure how to implement it in a way that was only minimally family-unfriendly. When I saw that Distortion World variants are possible and that a few are accepted, though, I realized that a Ghost-type that drained life force in the same way as how Yveltal's Oblivion Wing is portrayed in the anime as turning things to stone was a pretty solid option, and even fits the classic gorgon's gaze well enough. The other major inspiration for this line is the gorgoneion, a Classical bit of iconography portraying Medusa's head on the shield of Athena as a ward against evil, even though Medusa herself was monstrous when she was alive. This is why I added in some flavor about masks and shields depicting it being used as wards, which also references the evil eye amulets of the Middle East (I would've made the gem colors and patterns a more direct reference to that, but I decided that felt too on-the-nose). Add in some influences from D&D's Beholder, starfish having simple eyes on the ends of each of their arms, and the fact that echinoderm skeletons are made of calcium carbonate - the same substance that comprises chalk, which in turn is formed from the fossilized remains of ancient sea creatures - and there you have it! I really like this concept, actually, and regardless of whether it ends up in this pet mod or not, I might end up keeping it for my own use later... ;)

  • New Egg Moves: (Field and Fairy) Dragon Claw, Dragon Dance, Outrage
Flavor/Design:
This Dedenne appears a bit chubbier and rounder than its Kalosian counterpart, with thicker, fluffier fur for surviving in the cold of the Alabaster Icelands - it looks almost as round as Togedemaru, though without the spikes. Its ears are smaller to reduce heat loss, and its whiskers are now glowing with starburst shapes at the ends like sparklers, and the tail, while shorter than in Kalosian Dedenne, also has the same distinction, and in fact it's tipped with a larger starburst with many more spikes of heat, making the tail resemble a lit fuse. Its coloration is now dark gray in color with a red belly and ears, while the cheek pouches and the inside of the ears are yellow and the whiskers and tail a glowing orange. The shiny sprite replaces the gray with red, the red with turquoise, and the yellow with white, with blue-white whiskers and tail.

Competitive Info:
Slower than Kalosian Dedenne but better adapted for both physical and special attacks, this little cutie has a far more explosive nature - literally! It only gets one STAB Fire attack by level-up, Flame Charge, but that helps boost its speed so it can get attacks in more easily, and it can also employ physical and special attacks with equal competency - it even gets a few Flying-type moves via TM as well. Its main weakness of the Ground type has only Solar Beam and Solar Blade as counterplay, which are only reliable in sunny weather. Good thing it can learn Sunny Day via TM so it can set up said sunny weather itself!

"A type of Dedenne that has adapted to the frozen Alabaster Icelands. It absorbs light and heat through its whiskers to generate electricity, keeping it warm and cozy at night."
"They are endearing but also mischievous, prone to bursting into flame at inappropriate times. Some have even been known to start wildfires when they feel a bit too cold!"

  • Added Level-Up Moves: Dragon Rush, Explosion
  • Removed Level-Up Moves: N/A
  • New TMs: Fly, Weather Ball, Eerie Impulse, Breaking Swipe
Flavor/Design:
Arguably the weirdest of the three "Raiclones" I came up with for the Gen 8 version of this mod, this design is also the largest by dint of being more long-bodied than the rest - basically, Dedenne tried to become Furret! The shape resembles Furret, but with a long, pointed snout almost like that of Manectric (though without the latter's massive hairdo), and ears like Kantonian Raichu's at the back of the head, angled backwards and with small, straight spikes instead of curls - the ears themselves are narrower than Raichu's and the smaller spikes are angled away from the ear overall, almost invoking the antlers of a Chinese dragon. The body is still largely dark gray, but there are yellow jagged stripes running down the back invoking scale patterning, the red belly is divided into even sections, and its nose is also red and conical like that of a plane or missile; the ears also have red upper portions and yellow interiors. The tail is long, thicker at the base in an almost lizard-like fashion, and has a series of five starbursts that decrease in size until you get to the last one at the end of the tail. The gradient of the tail itself fades from orange to red to pink, and the whiskers, which are moved to near the base of the nose like a mustache but otherwise like those of its pre-evo, are colored similarly (the cheek pouches stay where they are, though). Its arms and legs are shaped like Raichu's, but respectively positioned around a third of the way down the whole length (the head, neck, and tail join smoothly together for streamlining) and near the base of the tail; the limbs are the same dark gray as the body while the paws are yellow, and the shoulders have glowing spiky energy trailing from them like wings of flame, again orange at the base and fading to red and then pink at the edges. The shiny sprite has blue fire that fades to purple and then white, a dark brick-red body, a sky-blue belly, ears, and nose, and white cheek pouches, paws, and ear insides.

Competitive Info:
The most notable change Hisuian Dedenne experiences upon evolving is that Cheek Pouch - already a situational ability at best - is replaced by the far more useful Levitate. In other words, bye-bye, Ground-type weakness (Mold Breaker or other ability-negating shenanigans obviously notwithstanding)! This is probably one of the best reasons to use Dennabi in the first place, and you also don't have to worry about grounded entry hazards either, though surprisingly, this line can also learn a bunch of Dragon-type moves via breeding, and Dennabi itself learns Dragon Rush via level-up. This is mostly beneficial for dealing neutral damage to stuff that resists its STAB and is of course useless against Fairy-types, but still worth pointing out anyway.

"It is now more active at night, preferring to use its stored firepower to launch itself at high speeds through the air. It's thought that it first learned to do this to escape predators like Sneasler, but it also does this for the sheer joy of it."
"As it rockets through the skies, colorful sparks of flame are released from its tail, creating beautiful trails of color. Seeing it in flight is a good omen, and it's said that humans learned how to make fireworks by observing it in flight."

Dedenne was the Pikaclone that made me realize that the trend of cute rodents that waste their potential by not evolving at all was here to stay, so I decided to go all-in with this regional evo in terms of weirdness, even with the type combo concerned being the least odd of the three all things considered. The main theme of this line is fireworks and sparklers, and I will freely admit that I had Genshin Impact on my mind in this case - the Japan-inspired nation of Inazuma in that game features fireworks quite heavily in some of its associated quests and events, and honestly I'm amazed there wasn't a fireworks-based regional evolution in Hisui due to the heavy association between ancient Japan and fireworks festivals. I don't have a specific animal basis for Hisuian Dedenne itself, but as with Ultra Emolga, there is a specific yokai that inspired it: the kodama nezumi, which is said to live in the mountains of Northeastern Japan (such as where Hokkaido is!) - and which were said to explode when the mountain gods got upset. The connection to pyrotechnics was an easy one to make, so I based Hisuian Dedenne off a cartoon bomb and worked my way from there. Admittedly, though, my discovery of the kodama nezumi and the bomb inspiration actually came only after I'd already made Dedenne a Fire-type - that part was originally based on the hinezumi, the supposed "fire rat" from The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter.
Dennabi, like Mega Ampharos, is a visual play on the fact that the Japanese word for electric current, denryu, also translates to "electric dragon", hence the Dragon-type moves this line can learn - and while I obviously couldn't make it an Electric/Dragon-type, Japanese festivals do include both dragon imagery and firework shows, so an Electric/Fire-type that mimics a dragon was the next-best thing. The Levitate ability is a nod to both East Asian dragons and fireworks being airborne, but really, I just wanted an Electric/Fire-type that doesn't disintegrate the moment you get a speck of dirt on it. XP

P.S. If you can guess what, or rather who, I based the shiny colors for this line off of, you get an Internet cookie. I won't spoil it of course, but since I'm feeling charitable, y'all get just one hint: "¿dnssɐʍ"

Flavor/Design:
The shell of this Minior is made of ice instead of rock, though aside from color and a bit of translucency it doesn't look much different from regular Minior; instead of spikes poking through, there are tiny jets of flame that trail behind it as it flies. When the shell is busted open, it reveals a core that's made of fiery energy, jets of fire like solar flares replacing its spikes and its eyes resembling four-pointed starbursts instead of swirls. The shell is always pale blue as with the ice on other Ice-types, with darker blue indents, but its core comes in five different colors based on how hot it burns: Red, Orange, Yellow, White, and Blue (the same colors that distinguish stars based on temperature). Like regular Minior, the shiny is black with spots of all five colors all around it.

Potential Competitive Info:
The defenses of the Meteor form are somewhat more middling than Alolan Minior, but its offenses are slightly boosted to compensate, making it more of a jack-of-all-stats. The Core form, however, sacrifices some of its defenses for even greater speed than its Rock/Flying counterpart. The main objective when using this 'mon is to activate its Shields Down ability which turns it from a mediocre generalist with four common weaknesses (including a deadly Rock weakness) into a fast and deadly mixed sweeper... though considering said type weaknesses and its ho-hum HP, having it get below half HP and survive is no doubt a chore in and of itself!

Meteor Form
"A mysterious type of Minior that comes from further beyond this planet than the Minior found in Alola. The two seem to be of common descent, however."
"Ironically, its fiery core is protected by a shell of ice as it draws in heat, freezing moisture in the air around it. Places where it's been are left dry as deserts."

Core Form
"Its icy shell has melted from its own heat, exposing a core like a miniature star. It fuels its fire by sucking in anything flammable with its own gravity field."
"The core of this kind of Minior blazes in different colors depending on the kind of fuel it's absorbed for sustenance. Some colors of Minior burn hotter than others."

  • Removed Level-Up Moves: N/A
  • New TMs: N/A
Flavor/Design:
Formed from five Minior combining into one a la Voltron, this miniature celestial body is a living paradox of extreme heat and cold in a single being. Its inner core is now a large fireball with the same face as Hoennian Minior, but a bit smaller relative to the body with a wider, now jagged mouth; the eyes and mouth burn white with cyan-colored centers, hotter than the rest of the star. The star itself is mostly yellow, but has patterning all around it consisting of irregularly-shaped red spots edged with thick orange bands like sunspots; jets of white-hot flame like solar flares also rise from its surface at random locations, fading into yellow and then orange. Both the sunspots and the fire jets change over time, the patterning moving and shifting around its surface and the jets dissipating in some places and firing off anew elsewhere. Surrounding this solar core is three rings of blue ice, the outermost part being two rings positioned perpendicular to one another like the framework of a globe structure, a small icicle spike jutting out from each "pole"; the globe is slightly off-axis and wobbles a bit as it gently spins in place. The other ring inside this is singular, and gradually changes its angular orientation as they too rotate around the core; this one has four small spikes to make its rotation visually clear. The ice rings are pale blue with darker blue icicles, and a faint bluish frost energy connects the gaps between the outermost ring-frame, with white translucent markings like simple constellations decorating it like a star map.
The shiny sprite has a light blue star, the sunspots being white with cyan edging and the mouth being orange with a yellow center. The ice around it is pale gray with black icicles, a reference to the term "black ice" (the transparent, slippery layer of ice that sometimes forms on roads and pavements during winter).

Potential Competitive Info:
This regional evolution has the same stat spread as Core-form Hoennian Minior, the only difference being the addition of 10 points each to both defenses... not that this matters much, since the benefits of the Core form are now accessible without having to risk the poor thing disintegrating accidentally! Aside from the obvious Fire and Ice STAB, Astrollite also learns a number of Psychic- and even Water-type moves such as Psychic, Stored Power, Liquidation, and Surf, and if you don't mind taking risks with it, you can also have it run Calm Mind to boost its special attack even further (a pity it doesn't get a physical attack buffer, since it can use physical attacks just as well, but oh well). Of note is that the Shields Down ability has been replaced by Tinted Lens (two words: polarized windshield), which would be of greater benefit the more "not very effective" attack matchups it has, and there are six in total (two of which being its own typings), but Dragon is easily countered by its Ice attacks and Steel and other Ice-types with Fire, while Rock and Water are direct threats to it type-wise, making it situational at best and next to useless at worst. This is unfortunately its only ability, though, so you'll have to just give it the right item and hope you've picked the right moveset for it. Good luck!

"An Astrollite is formed when five different Miniors collide and fuse together, their shells breaking apart and reassembling. Why its rings remain cold to the touch while its core burns like a tiny star is a mystery to science."
"It seems to draw its power from the burning gas within its core, concentrating it with the help of its rotating rings of ice. Certain engineers are studying it in the hopes of creating spacecraft inspired by its unique anatomy."

The original basis of this line was Comet Hyakutake, a comet discovered by Japanese scientist Yuji Hyakutake that passed unusually close to Earth on March 1996, and because comets are bodies of ice, I liked the idea of an Ice-type Minior with a frozen shell; I made it a Hoenn variant because that region corresponds to the territory in Japan that Hyakutake lived in. Ice/Rock would have been a pretty pathetic type combination, though, especially defensively, so I added the Fire type because I wanted an Ice/Fire type for sheer ironic humor and to fit the flaming meteor trope as well. The star elements came in a bit later, as a means of keeping the color variation, but this turned out to be a good decision because the variations of stars by color based on temperature allowed for some impromptu education about different types of stars, though preferably I'd have made the regional evo a red giant if I was going to fully illustrate the life cycle of a star. As it was, though, I didn't want to ditch the shell element, so I threw in the concept of a Dyson sphere, a structure encasing a star and drawing power from it to sustain whatever it is that's on it, be it the technology used for it or life living on its surface; the idea of it being a full sphere is probably not based on any actual theory and a full spherical shell would've obscured the core anyway, so I went with a bunch of rings instead which has been depicted before in films and art and which in general just looked more visually interesting.

Flavor/Design:
A Cutiefly adapted to feed from landfills and the waste-dumping sites of Galar's many factories, this little bugger is dull purple and dark gray in color a la Trubbish instead of yellow and white. Its wings are white in color with pale red veins on them, while its eyes are large, spherical, and red with a darker red spiral marking in each of them. Instead of a pointed proboscis, it has a tube-shaped one with a nozzle at the end from which it can spit a foul, caustic fluid to predigest its food. Lastly, there is a translucent round bubble on its backside corresponding to where an abdomen would be, full of bubbling fluid. Ideally, the 3D sprite for this thing would have a visual gimmick wherein the contents of its butt-mounted acid sac would vary depending on its held item, with differently colored fluid as well as a simple 3D sprite for the held item floating inside. By default, though, the acid is neon purple with a slight luminescent effect.

Potential Competitive Info:
The pitch I had in my head for this line was "What if Mega Beedrill was a special attacker?". To this end, I cut 10 points from each defensive stat and added them to Special Attack. Gunk Shot and Bug Buzz are your best STAB bets here, though support stuff like Knock Off, Toxic, and Supersonic are also promising given how fast it is.

"They digest food externally, spitting a foul liquid that can dissolve anything before lapping it up. They gather at filthy places such as garbage dumps."
"Depending on what it's eaten, the color of the fluid in its acid sac can vary in color. They are sometimes used to dispose of dangerous chemicals safely."

Like Galarian Cutiefly, Ribombee has traded flower pollen for literal scum of the earth, and has changed accordingly - it too has dull purple in place of yellow and dirty gray in place of white, while its wings are white with red veins and its eyes are big, round, red, and have dark red spirals in them as well as black rings around them joined by a black "bridge" like a mad scientist's goggles. Instead of a scarf, it has dirty off-white fluff around its neck, shoulders, and arms in a manner almost invoking a shabby labcoat. Its body also has scuzzy tufts of hair all around it with short, jagged, white-colored antennae, and instead of a small mouth it has a large toothy grin like Baikinman, which conceals a long tubular tongue to suck up the various disgusting fluids that make up its diet. Finally, the round glass-like bubble full of purple acid is now on its back between its wings, giving it a sort of "hunchbacked lab assistant" look.

"A steady diet of all kinds of strange compounds has addled its brain, causing it to act unpredictably. It gets a petty thrill out of annoying others just to see what will happen."
"By mixing noxious chemicals in their acid sacs, they can enhance themselves in different ways. They prey on Grimer and Trubbish, keeping their populations under control."

Flavor/Design:
A strange thing has happened to a Galarian Ribombee that got teleported by the trading system - human DNA, possibly from a stray hair or dead skin flakes that got stuck to its body, got mixed up with the Ribombee's as it rematerialized, triggering an evolution into a truly twisted creation of mad science! An arthropodian abomination that wants to raid your fridge at six in the morning! Behold and beware, it's HELPMEE!!
The overall body shape is even more human-like than Ribombee, but many elements of its pre-evo are still there. The toothy mouth is gone, and the nozzle snoot is back, and is somewhat thicker than Galarian Cutiefly's with an almost trunk-like look - think of the Aardvark's snout from The Ant and the Aardvark, but with a wider mouth shaped not unlike a vacuum cleaner. The white, jagged antennae are now on either side of this proboscis and invoke a mustache in shape, while there are two enormous, very long, dirty-white hair tufts just above the eyes like a mix of angry eyebrows and Dr. Wily's iconic hairstyle, but the rest of the head is the same as Galarian Ribombee's, the large red eyes still sporting spirals and black glasses markings around them. The rest of the body is shaped roughly like that of Scizor's, but instead of sleek red armor, its exoskeleton is dull purple with sparse hairs throughout, and the upper parts of its legs are black, the lower legs and its two-clawed feet like Scyther's being dull purple. The thorax/torso is covered in dirty-fur like the lower legs and eyebrows, and extends all the way down the arms and way past either side of its back a crude impression of a scientist's lab coat; the edges are mottled with stains of various colors, and more such stains are scattered throughout as a result of its grim and grimy experiments permanently staining its fur. Disturbingly, it has large, gray, five-fingered hands shaped like Mr. Mime's, even down to the finger pads, though the pads here are gray. Its acid sac, shaped roughly like a round chemistry flask with a noticeable stalk, joins to a ring of gray armor mounted on the backside, and is angled upward so the fluid inside is still able to flow into the rest of its body. The legs join the body more towards the front than the sides like in Scizor. Finally, it has only one pairs of usable wings, resembling Scizor's upper wings and white in color with red veins and a dull purple upper portion joining with the rest of the body; there are, however, two small purple knobs on gray stalks like switch handles as well, positioned where Scizor's hind wings would be and joining to two purple round protrusions on either side of the lower back. These in fact are based on the halteres that real flies use to help control their movement in the air... as well as the "pull the switch" trope that's bound to turn up wherever mad scientists do.

Potential Competitive Info:
Combining the stat spreads for Mega Beedrill and Galarian Ribombee, I originally made Helpmee's Special Attack a nice 150 to match Mega Beedrill's 150 Attack, and made the Special Defense and Speed the same as Mega Beedrill's as well, but I decided to transfer 20 points from SpA to Atk this time around for balance purposes. You'd expect a housefly-based Pokemon to be a heck of an annoyance, and indeed, Helpmee does get Supersonic, Taunt, and of course Toxic, but that Special Attack can't just sit there gathering dust! To this end, I added two signature moves, both of which can be powered up by Adaptability if need be. Noxious Brew is both decently powerful and capable of inflicting some nasty statuses if the RNG is by your side, but more notable still is its other signature move which, alongside Belch, can synergize with Adaptability and Helpmee's ludicrous Special Attack stat once it does one thing Mega Beedrill can't: eat a Berry. Fire off just one of either attack, and anything that doesn't resist either Bug or Poison had best be writing its will - to say nothing of the four types that are weak to either type. Unfortunately, getting the berry itself to be used is easier said than done - you'd have to bring in a berry meant to cure a specific status condition and hope an enemy move causes it... or worse, have Helpmee survive at 25% health. Even if it has five resistances, its four weaknesses are commonly used enough to be a cause for concern, and its physical defense is so awful that you might as well just give up on the "get to 25% health or less and live" front. Your best bet with this strategy would probably be to use the Lum Berry and hope to take a non-damaging move that inflicts a status effect, though naturally, an enemy with Unnerve would put the kibosh on this strategy completely, so for greater reliability, the safest bet for Lum Berry users would arguably be to run Noxious Brew alongside Bile Blast or Bug Buzz with Adaptability alongside Belch - and even then, it's worth keeping in mind that the only type that resists Bug but is weak to Poison is Fairy, and Bug is not super-effective against any of the types resisted by Poison, to say nothing of the utter lack of coverage Helpmee has against Flying, Fire, or Rock-types that can swiftly crush it with a variety of powerful physical attacks. So while you might be tempted to run both Bile Blast and Belch in the same moveset for the sheer joy of nuking certain opponents out of existence, you'll quickly notice that this isn't very wise.

"The genome of a Ribombee apparently combined with that of a human when it was traded, enabling it to evolve into a very strange form. Its pitiful outward impression conceals a cruel intellect, manipulating others to do its bidding."
"A group of Helpmee is called a 'laboratory' - an apt descriptor for their insatiable curiosity and a love of dangerous experiments. When threatened, they spray a glowing, acidic spit that can inflict all kinds of bizarre and deadly effects."

The original pitch I had in my head for this line was a Bug/Dark housefly that eventually took on traits of robber flies and the demon Beelzebub, but ultimately I got carried away with the idea of a mad scientist fly instead, homaging both movie versions of The Fly wherein a teleporting accident causes the protagonist to swap body parts with a housefly... fatally so. The trading evolution is an inverted nod to this, wherein human DNA somehow gets mixed into the bug's genome in the vein of the 1986 remake with Jeff Goldblum as poor Seth Brundle. Adding in more and more mad science traits led me to swap Dark for Poison, as flies tending to be attracted to dirty places in fiction alongside their regurgitating digestive fluid to feed led me to think of the crazy chemical experiments and concoctions typical of fictional scientists as well. I did want to include a reference to mutated Hox genes giving fruit flies arms instead of antennae, but in the end I decided that it was better off without that nod, as it's already pretty overstuffed with mad science-y things as it is. I'm still really fond of how it turned out, though, twisted though it may be!

Fixed as charged! The starters have been replaced by three new lines: Distorted Wooloo, Ultra Pancham, and Lentalese Ekans! (But strangely enough, I still managed to get a Grass/Fire/Water trio in there!)
