I wanted to see if it was possible to get the same spread on Zapdos with any sort of consistency on my Fire Red Cartridge. I knew from past experience SRing (in an old Leaf Green cart along with Blue, Yellow, Pearl, Platinum, and Heart Gold) that getting the same spread without conscious effort was next to impossible (never once in my experience).
So. Here's what I did. I used...
1) a legit (far as I know) Fire Red cartridge
2) a Nintendo Game Cube
3) a Nintendo GameBoy Player
4) a Gamestop Game Cube Controller with a programable Turbo Speed Setting
To play my Cart on my TV (it's just easier on the eyes, and doesn't waste batteries. :P)
I began this experiment as so: Saved in the power plant right in front of Zapdos.
Turbo set for A on fastest setting.
Gonna press RESET and hold down A at same time.
Hold A till fighting Zapdos.
Masterball it.
Record Nature/Stats.
Wash, Rinse, Repeat...
Here were the results that I got over 59 Soft Resets:
Code:
Impish - 158 / 95 / 100 / 130 / 97 / 108
Quirky - 161 / 107 / 96 / 136 / 104 / 114
Noticed that I may be pressing A at different times because RESETTING takes a moment to take effect (*later found out it doesn't take effect till you let go of it). Gonna start holding A the moment the gleam of light touches the "B" in GameBoy and it goes "Di-Ing!!".

Impish - 157 / 97 / 101 / 122 / 97 / 107 Weird thing here. I screwed up and let off A before Zapdos, in the space between "Continue" and "in game". I noticed just as I saw Zapdos, and held A again, and still got an immediate repeat?!

Have gotten acceptably consistent results from holding A the moment the gleam touched "B" and it went "Di-Ing!!". Gonna "try" holding down A and THEN SRing...

These are from the Thursday Recording on Youtube. They are kind of “iffy” cuz I’m still getting used to this method of SRing and I was juggling the DVD remote, etc… :P

59 total soft resets
22 different spreads
12 spreads repeated once or more
10 spreads did not repeat (within the 59 soft resets)
49 of the 59 soft resets (83%) yielded a repeated spread
So, what did I learn?
As NeoSyrex already stated, it is completely possible to get the same exact spread on a Legendary poke in FR/LG. At this point, I assume that means I was hitting the same seed. In fact, it very well could be that I hit the same seed many many times than it appears and that some of the repeated spreads were frames 1/2/3/etc...
Granted, I used a Gamecube Controler with a Turbo function for extremely consistent BPMs, but looking back on my experience RNGing in Pearl / Plat / Heart Gold I believe it's just as possible by tapping consistently to the beat of a metronome, or possibly even mashing A (if you're reeeeeeeeally friggin consistent?!).
I'm gonna try this again, but with the Turbo on the slowest setting this time. I "think" it might actually give me more consistent results than the fastest setting. The fastest setting was waaaaay too fast for me to keep track of, and it may have actually been signaling A more quickly than the Fire Red Cart could handle/receive.
Oh, and check back later. I recorded 9 SRs over 10 minutes (just the actual gameplay while it was playing on my TV) and am in the process of editing it and putting it up on Youtube so y'all can actually see what I did. If you'll notice from that list of the last 9 SRs, I got a good repeat on SR #s 2 and 3, and pretty much the rest were repeats of SRs from before too. I'll edit the vid in when I get it.
PLEASE! LOOK OVER THIS INFO. TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK.
WHAT COULD I TEST NEXT?
HOW DOES IT LOOK?
WHAT'S THE NEXT STEP IN ABUSING FOR NATURE/IVS?
HOW DO I DETERMINE WHAT "SEEDS" I HIT, SO I CAN BEGIN SHOOTING FOR TARGET FRAMES??
