Scald getting reduced to 70 BP, to go with Scorching Sands, if both are coming back as TMs, would IMO be a good approach. Chilling Water was designed as an utility move like Icy Wind or Snarl, and people have overread on what it meant to Scald.
It happened to grassy glide, went from 70 BP to 60, so maybe a Breloom moment?Has a move been nerfed between DLCs before? Trying to recall any like that for the SwSh DLC but can't remember any.
Nerfing Scald to have Sands BP would be a nice compromise yeah, that + nerfing its distribution a little bit. (My personal opinion is give it to Water-types that can already use Fire-type attacking moves, such as Slowbro or Gyarados for instance)
The closest I can think of in the series, beyond general bug fixes, is that Hypnosis went from 70% in DP to 60% in Pt.Has a move been nerfed between DLCs before? Trying to recall any like that for the SwSh DLC but can't remember any.

That was a between generation nerf.It happened to grassy glide, went from 70 BP to 60, so maybe a Breloom moment?

Ok, but that haven’t happened, because The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is the second mainline DLC to release, of course it hasn’t happened yet.The closest I can think of in the series, beyond general bug fixes, is that Hypnosis went from 70% in DP to 60% in Pt.
First time for anything, I suppose, but probably wouldn't see it happen.
That was a between generation nerf.
I agree with your opinion. However, I thing it might have a held item transformation, with a Fairy/Ghost base form, maybe with nerfed stats, but I think it will have a maskless base form, like what we see in the Pokédex image for OgerponSo to give my speculation for types, story, etc seeing as we are at the 1 day mark basically.
Typings
Honestly, I think pretty much everyone agree with the Loyal Three typing being these
Okidogi - Poison/Fighting
Munkidori - Poison/Psychic
Fezandipiti - Poison/Fiary
Ogrepon has been the most interesting I think. Centro has gone off thinking Ogrepon's primary typing is Ghost which I disagree with. Based on Ogrepon's based design, signature move and the fact that no matter what, he has a grassy appearance, I believe that our little Oni is primarily Grass and not Ghost. Leading to his forms being
Teal Mask - Grass/Ghost
Wellspring Mask - Grass/Water
Hearthflame Mask - Grass/Fire
Cornerstone Mask - Grass/Rock
Bloodmoon Ursaluna in my eyes is prolly still Normal, but likely either Ground, Steel or Dark alonside it. Assuming Mind's Eye is its ability which it prolly is, but who knows.
Stats
Mainly for Ogrepon. I want to address something noted by Hematite about why people keep giving Ogrepon different stats based on his mask and it comes from his dex entries which specify that each form seemingly focus certain stats.
Wellspring - Balanced in Offense and Defense
Hearthflame - Very offensive
Cornerstone- Very defensive
While it could very well be covered by Embody Aspect, I can see each mask changing his stats a bit as well. Being a bit similar to Shaymin or Deoxys that have form changes that move stats around. Now for the Loyal Three stats
Okidogi - Slow, but bulky physical powerhouse
Munkidori - Decently fast Special powerhouse
Fezandipiti - Super fast and frail special or mixed attacker
Story
I feel like everyone has the theory that Ogrepon is not some evil Pokemon is in fact being framed as some villain when the human and the Loyal Three could be the true villainous ones. I think this is mostly correct. I believe that Ogrepon by nature isn't some evil mon, but the Teal Mask could make what's normally a harmless trickster into a monstrous oni. I don't think the Loyal Three are villainous, but the human was. The Loyal Three prolly teamed up with the human to stop a rampaging Ogrepon, however my question comes with the Teal Mask itself, where it came from and how Ogrepon got it. And obvious Terapagos shenanigans aside, I think the Human may in fact have something to do with how Ogrepon got that mask and why it corrupted it. The Teal Mask is simply too different compared to Ogrepon's other masks (the only one with Tera shards embedded in it), so it's very suspicious. Especially if my theory on typings is correct and it adds the ghost type to Ogrepon, Ghost type generally being a more sinister typing.
This is just my crackpot theory of course. What do you all think?
The home asset dump lacks a maskless Ogrepon render & dex entry, so it's very likely that Ogrepon's maskless "form" is something exclusive to the overworld.I agree with your opinion. However, I thing it might have a held item transformation, with a Fairy/Ghost base form, maybe with nerfed stats, but I think it will have a maskless base form, like what we see in the Pokédex image for Ogerpon
I think the only issue with maskless Ogrepon is that there is no home model for maskless ogrepon. His official art based on the HOME leaks would be him being maskless while holding whatever mask he'd wear in battle in his leaf (hand?). There are only 4 Ogrepon models, 1 for each mask.I agree with your opinion. However, I thing it might have a held item transformation, with a Fairy/Ghost base form, maybe with nerfed stats, but I think it will have a maskless base form, like what we see in the Pokédex image for Ogerpon
I think that's just a Smogon thing. Most people who were hyped about SWSH DLC weren't hyped about the Pokemon to begin with, but instead the world. In fact, I am that type of person, and it's why I am hyped for SV DLC; not about new Pokemon, not the meta, not the types or stats or movepool distributions. I just want to explore new shit, meet new characters, have more battles and see new stories in the great big world of Pokemon.I agree with all of that. But there’s also the fact that Ogerpon and Terapagos have way more charm than Urshifu and Calyrex. SS DLC hype was mostly carried by Galarian Birds, not gonna lie, whereas here, even if the Poison trio is cool, the other Pokémon are as much if not more.
Yeah, but one can hope. And, what are the points of masks if not to put on and take off, maybe we will get one.The home asset dump lacks a maskless Ogrepon render & dex entry, so it's very likely that Ogrepon's maskless "form" is something exclusive to the overworld.
it also most likely means Ogrepon's form changes have to be by a key item rather than held item, since there's no "default" to return to in Home.
I think it will prolly be some Key Item like the DNA Splicers or Gracidea where you can freely change the mask you give Ogrepon.Yeah, but one can hope. And, what are the points of masks if not to put on and take off, maybe we will get one.
A Mask box is kind of what I figure it'd be.I think it will prolly be some Key Item like the DNA Splicers or Gracidea where you can freely change the mask you give Ogrepon.
That would be cool. Maybe called the Mask Collection? Yeah, I think that is the most logical way to think about it, now that I think about it.I think it will prolly be some Key Item like the DNA Splicers or Gracidea where you can freely change the mask you give Ogrepon.
I think this is the best part of these DLCs compared to SS IoA and CT. It seems these stories are all connected to the overall mystery that was built up during SVs main story.EDIT: Yeah, Crimson Chris, maybe in part 2, maybe both dlc are connected in more then the protagonist and the BB siblings?
Calyrex who wasn’t that cool, Glastrier had a cooler design for Christ's sake. And Urshifu is a Street Fighter IV Character. Ogerpon is adorable and plot convenient, and so is Terapagos.I think this is the best part of these DLCs compared to SS IoA and CT. It seems these stories are all connected to the overall mystery that was built up during SVs main story.
Ogrepon's Teal Mask is very blatantly tied to Terapagos, Tera itself and Area Zero. And Indigo Disk is pretty much the conclusion of everything that is gonna give us all the answers to these mysteries. Compare this to SS DLC which were all disconnected stories aside from Calyrex who really had nothing to do with Zacian or Zamazenta but moreso Galar's history.
Urshifu just didn't have anything to do with anything. It was just a cool bear who knows Martial arts.
I think both have their merits. I really enjoyed the little separate stories offered by both SWSH DLCs, and I think the idea of doing that is probably what helped them iron out what they wanted to do with SV.I think this is the best part of these DLCs compared to SS IoA and CT. Well, you wont have to wait much longer, it’s only 32 hours away from DLC release, and only a little while longer till OU will be tormented by Kommo-o! Also, if in part 1, the Kieran villain theory is true, and he uses Ogerpon, then how will we get Ogerpon. Also also, what are your theory’s about part 2’s ending? Please tell me any you have, because I just want to see them!I think both have their merits. But also yes I am very interested in the story beats here, both the stuff unrelated to the metaplot (we can kind of predict how Kieran's & Ogrepon's story is going to go, but I think it will still be enjoyable to experience both it and what happens with Carmine) and the stuff that ties to it directly. Briar....hello.
Things to mull over:
-Kitakami's connection to Paldea and the school
-Teal Mask has those tera crystals in it, and was around in the vaguely defined past. How did it get here, how long ago was it in relation to Heath's exploration, was it made out of the crater's crystals or something else?
-Related, but raids are in Kitakami too. If Kitakami is far away from Paldea, how far does Terapagos' presence reach? Alternatively, if not directly by Terapagos, what caused the crystals to show up? The Mask? Something else? Is it possible they're a recent phenomenon?
-Speaking of, I don't think we ever got any real lore about how long the raid crystals have been around Paldea. We know the black crystals are something that happened only after our excursion, but what about the others?
Well I don't even think they're necessarily teamed up or anything. But Kieran doesnt have to use Ogrepon in battle, for one. If they're partners they can just be separate battles (ala BW2). Alternatively we just have to fight them and then get Ogrepon later on (ala Legends Arceus)
Part 2 we know too little about, relatively speaking. We only now have an indication of what we'll be doing, but not enough to figure out any other details. Lucy's probably important, but who knows what to expect. We don't even know how Terapagos will actually factor into the school (I assume the Normal form, at least, will be present).
For the final part in Area Zero proper, I kind of think it'll be a slight mirror of the normal end game. Briar invites us, Lucy, Carmine & maybe Kieran into the crater as part of her investigation, which will probably related to Terapagos, and have some form of twist about her. Likely we'll get more details about the various oddities around area zero dealing with the symbols, and take us to a new part of the area (that side room with the geoglyph, somewhere in the cave, the other side of the hanger, there's options).
I predict it wont be as strong an ending as the main game and people won't like that it mirrors the progression of the main ending either, but I think it'll still be an interesting ride.

Night Shade and Aura Sphere are TMs 042 and 112 respectivelyI pray every single day for Scald not to be back.
On a more theory note, here are some moves I’d like to see as TMs, or anything else that could spread them, somedays :
- Night Shade.
- Aura Sphere.
Sorry for the renting, or if I made some errors, did this in the night on my phone. I do hope to see some of those in the new TMs, crossed fingers.
And a lot of normies liked to discover that you could get regional variant of legendaries.I think that's just a Smogon thing.
