Serperior

With his ability new ability, he is begging for a Calm Mind Leaf Storm Set. He could also just spam Leaf Storm on a Choice Scarf set. I still see him stuck in UU/BL.

I don't see why people are so negative about this Pokemon.

Sure it's not some 147 Base Attack Dragon type but Jalord is strictly superior to Jumpluff when it comes to pure base stats. Equal HP and higher everything else.

If you know how frustrating it is to try to take out a Leech Seed Jumpluff behind a Substitute then just imagine trying to do the same to something without an SR weakness and with much better defenses. This thing more or less outspeeds everything that it has to, to be honest. Sceptile's +7 Base Speed really doesn't do much for it besides helping versus Starmie.

I guarantee you that Glare / Substitute / Leech Seed / filler attack has the potential to be one of the most potent annoyers since Jumpluff, who is now sort of outclassed by Jalord.

If filler is Leaf Storm, it could easily get up to +6 with that set. Thats an acceptable trade off for Sleep Powder!

I think a combo of the sub seed and sweeping sets would be ideal

Jaroda @ Leftovers
Timid 4 Def 252 SpA/252 Spe

Substitute
Leech Seed
Leaf Storm
HP water

Seems like it would be easy to subseed stall and leaf storm for the boost when you force a switch, then rinse and repeat until you are in good shape to sweep.

Jumpluff isn't even good. Making a better version of it only pushes it into a similar relative mediocrity, considering the higher all-around standard this gen is setting for competitive Pokemon.

Jarodo @ Choice Scarf
Contrarian
Timid / Modest
252 SpA / 252 Spe
- Leaf Storm
- Energy Ball
- Filler
- Filler

This set seems good, except Leaf Storm has only 8 PP max. Hp Fire / Ice can be used on this set ass well.

How is this pokemon a "better jumpluff"?

Shh.

Choice scarf jaroda with leaf storm spam anyone?
Things that 4x resist it aren't going to worry.

Sub / Glare / Leech Seed / Leaf Storm is what I want to use, unless enemy Grass types start getting all uppity. Then I'm not sure what can be done (besides Toxic Spikes!!)

In like nearly every way possible? This thing is to Jumpluff what Garchomp was to Flygon.

Permission to disagree?

I say we should see if the fact that Jalord has sturdier defenses and a more reliable paralysis move results in what could be an unforeseen much needed buff to the annoyer class grass type.

Jaroda @ choice specs

Leaf Storm
Hidden power: anything
Toxic
Sunny Day

Forget earthquake spiral, this is the ultimate revenge killer. 3 simple steps:

1: eliminate enemy scarfers
2: Revenge kill a weakened mon with leaf storm.
3: Ignore enemy rage

You win!!!

I don't get it why sunny day? Its not like it has chlorophyll or solar power nor leaf guard

Does Jaroda have chlorophyll and I'm missing something? It's not like jumpluff is the best or fastest subseeder outside of the sun anyway, Jaroda doesn't really affect jumpluff the way I see it.

Not feeling the Torment Seeder. Being walled by Grass types sucks and their is no shortage of those around in any tier. Also I guess Tentacruel is a bit of a threat since Liquid Ooze screws you and Tenta can set up Toxic Spikes or even Rapid Spin if needed

It's pretty interesting how they made 2 Grass Pokemon with low Attack and Special Attack and high Speed. They both have similar movepools as well. The other Pokemon I am talking about is Erufuun (60/67/85/77/75/116).

Jaroda is obviously better in every stat except Speed. What makes Erufuun special is that it outruns those base 115 (although not many of them are worth Leech Seeding).

Back on topic Jaroda really wants Sleep Powder. Paralyzing just doesn't cut it.

Actually, I've been thinking about it and I feel the best moves to fill those two last spots would be Glare, so scarfers/higher base speeds don't ruin your fun, and Giga Drain for a Stab to fall back on if Leaf Storm's getting to low in pp.

Initially, I was depressed when I saw this thing wasn't part dragon. It has "secondary dragon" all over its face. Those stats made me depressed to. But then again, I haven't had much expirience with Sub Seeders so Jaroda might actually be viable afterall. Hopefully so, sense it's my third most favorite 5th gen pokes. (Kerudio and Reshiram are higher.)

I'm looking forward to the tutor moves, we still can't say jaroda is bad yet, the only thing that it's lacking now is a wide offensive movepool, dragon normal flying grass type moves isnt going to help much against steel types and having the wrong hidden power screw you up too.

Jaroda @ Leftovers
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
Ability: Contrarian
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spd
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Leaf Storm
- HP Fire / HP Ground / Glare

A more offensive variant of the SubSeeder. HP Fire hits other Grass-types and Steel-types, whereas Ground hits Heatran and Shanderaa. Glare is just for general annoyance.

I'm going to be blunt here: Jaroda is looking pretty bad right now. Probably the worst starter we've had in a Pokemon game so far. That's actually quite a shame because it looks so cool that I'm considering using it anyway.

If Contrarian works the way we suspect it to it could end up doing some damage in UU and maybe see a promotion to BL, but that's about it. I looked over the movelist and was a little disappointed in the lack of Psychic. :( That could have really freed up a slot for HP Rock to hit Altaria and Fire types without losing to Poison types. Registeel might still block it, but fuck Registeel. The new Dragons might pull it into OU anyway.

Also, I'm surprised an offensive/conservative boosting set (a la Raikou) hasn't been posted yet. 75 offenses is pretty bad, but usable in UU and 113 speed is just amazing.
