Hi, I'm a long time lurker, for the first time I finally created an account because I want to participate in Volcarona's suspect test, but this is the first time I'd try to do that and I'm not sure how to do it.
Do I just need to register on Showdown with the name "OUWW ____" and try to ladder, or do I need to anounce somewhere that I intend to participate on it? (I'm asking because it would suck if I somehow managed to get the points but forgot to do something beforehand and therefore cannot vote)
(that is of course considering I will de able to do it haha but I'd like to try)

you only have to ladder and get the required GXE within the amount of games necessary. You don't even need to constrain yourself to just one alt, people frequently use multiple alts if they lose early on in their run so that they can get better GXE. Just ladder, don't break any rules, and post when you get the reqs.

Generally speaking, you’re not supposed to talk about what a person's ban reasoning is. This is done to prevent unneeded further speculation and to protect the user banned and especially the victim(s) privacy as well as to not make the person banned be continuously harassed and be thrown baseless accusations from others. I'm pretty sure there's not an actual rule on site to say you can't ask, but it's generally pretty frowned in the community and you CAN find a person's ban reasoning in the inside scoop forum since there's a noteworthy banned users list there, but that requires a badge to have.
ok. I just want to make sure that she wasn't unfairly banned. She hasn't even said anything about it as far as I can tell.
Generally if a user is banned, they are fairly banned. If the user feels that they are unfairly banned, they can lodge an appeal in the Appeals subforum.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I've never understood the incentive behind Top Tiering Contributor being a 0 value badge. Grinding 18 Suspects in a single Unofficial Tier or 30 Across multiple tiers represents a significant contribution to smogon and its metagames over typically a multiple year period. I feel this represents at least as big of a contribution as writing a bunch of analysis which some people have done in less than a month. I understand the reasoning for not wanting to reward regular TC as its the easiest badge to get only needing like 4 suspects in an official tier, however the shiny badge also being valueless doesn't make sense to me in the same way. Would appreciate if someone could give me some further insight into why badges are structured this way.

For all generations on the ROA sample teams site, Ho-oh's big sprite is broken and just doesn't appear.
its like this for gen 2 ubers, gen 6 ubers, gen 7 ubers, and gen 8 ubers, since those are the only formats that have a ho-oh in a sample team and use big sprites

I've asked this before and was told that it's not possible without a complete overhaul of the logging system currently in use, so the demand for such a feature hasn't been high enough to warrant all that.

there are some things I want to report:
- in almost any ability none of the embody aspects work on any pokemon including ogerpon regardless of the held item. was that intentional or unintentional?
- auspicious armor, malicious armor, master tea cap, metal alloy and unremarkable teacup, have been wrongly placed on "items" instead of the "useless items". they are not any more usefull than a leaf stone. they don't even have the niche of being untrickable.
In-game mechanics researchers discovered that the abilities are useless unless they're used on a terastallized Ogerpon.

How possible is it for us to add a timezone widget when composing messages, particularly those on user profiles? I feel like any effort into coding such a thing would be tremendously beneficial and be worth all the time it takes to implement. A lot of bandwidth goes into scheduling, act wins, time conversion estimation, and tour running that could be trimmed down if smogon had a native way to make all incoming times standardized.
The main idea I had was a way to pick a time and have it convert to your native timezone, similar to the way Discord does it. One possible implementation is that I post something like Wednesday at [time0100gmt-5] and it gets read in whatever the viewer's timezone is. An even better implementation would be one that doesn't even require you to input your own timezone at all, saving people from having to remember if DST is active and theyre actually -5 instead of -4. I don't know how much control we have over coding in the forums, but if it is in fact possible to do there's an inarguably high demand for such a feature to be developed.

Where is the site with all the smogon stats that shows which item is used more on this pokemon, what moves it uses, etc.

Quick, mayby dumb, question but I am having a hard time finding it. If you say battle in gen 4 (DP) OU can you use a pikachu (gen 1) or any pokemon of previous generations for that matter.
For gens 1-7 you can use any Pokémon from a past generation. This is because you can trade them forward to the game (in this case Platinum) that Gen 4 OU is played on.
For gens 8 and 9 you can't trade forward every Pokémon, so some older Pokémon cannot be used. These will not appear in the teambuilder for that format on showdown, and if you search for them, it will say they're illegal.
