We need a name, and IMO the name needs to have the greatest amount of concideration put into it. As this guide shows, every pokemons name has a secondary meaning. From the obvious "Shelder" to the most hidden of all IMO, Ralts / Kirlia / Gardeviour.

just out of curiosity, what is the hidden meaning to ralts/kirlia/gardevior?

just out of curiosity, what is the hidden meaning to ralts/kirlia/gardevior?

can't you Ctrl+F it?

anyways, Gardevoir is French for Guard and Look, Kirlia comes from the wierd photo that can "see" psychic auras, and Ralts is a wierd anagram of relates.

Icicrita (Icicle+Apocrita)
Myrmefrost (Myrmecology=study of ants+Frost)
Invictice (Solenopsis invicta=fire ant+Ice)
Exofrost (exoskeleton+Frost)
Isect/Icect (Ice+Insect)
Antfrigerator (Ant+Refrigerator)
Glaciant (Glacier+Ant)

some ideas.

Poll 9 -- Sprite Selection
Then, I think we should have a poll between the four main sprites that we have seen (listed below).

*Credit goes to Doug, KoA, Doug, and Cyzir*

While I did most of the original art on the third sprite in that list, that really can't be attributed just to me. Even the "original" art had a head from one of Cyzir's WIP sprites. After that, numerous other people chipped in on the wings, arms, eyes, abdomen, and colors. If you have to credit an artist, put "Various" or something.

TBH, I don't think #3 should be included in a sprite poll at all. I don't think it's anywhere near as good as the others.

Polarant = Polar + Ant

Hexafrost = Hexapoda (subphylum that includes all insects) + Frost

Chitinice = Chitin (an insects hard exoskeleton) + Ice

Icicrita (Icicle+Apocrita)
Myrmefrost (Myrmecology=study of ants+Frost)
Invictice (Solenopsis invicta=fire ant+Ice)
Exofrost (exoskeleton+Frost)
Isect/Icect (Ice+Insect)
Antfrigerator (Ant+Refrigerator)
Glaciant (Glacier+Ant)

some ideas.

Insice (Insect+cis=to cut+ice)
Snosect (Snow+Insect)
Antarctick (Antarctica+Tick)
Arctick (Arctic+Tick)
Arthrime (Arthropod+Rime)
Aphice (Aphid+Ice)

more ideas.

To be clear, what kind of animal is this poke supopsed to be?
It's based off an ant.

Oh, and I've been meaning to bring this up, but I keep forgetting. Do you see the two blue dots over each of the eyes on my design?:

These aren't merely for decoration. At least, they aren't for some of them. Those are additional eyes, and I figured that'd give justification for CompoundEyes. Okay, yes, pokemon with CompoundEyes are supposed to look like they only have two eyes, but I figured that it would be easier to say that certain *bugice pokemon* develop either the ability to use its other eyes, or the ability to easily traverse mountainsides (Mountaineer).

This. Aufylus all the way. Hell, I'm still going to pronounce it "Ow-Fye-Luhs."

I'm backing this.

Aufeis - is layered ice that forms in arctic and subarctic stream valleys
Dorylus - The genus Ant belongs to.

We can do a Pokedex entry that reads like this:

Pearl
Aufylus (Or-fee-lus), the Ice Ant Pokemon. It is said that the first Antartic explores were astounded when they discovered colonys of Aufylus living in the frigid environment of Antartica.

Diamond
This Pokemon was first found living in Antartica. It hunts -Insert pokemon here- with it's ferocious talons, Tearing the prey into pieces to bring back to it's nest.

Only thing wrong with them is that real places are never mentioned in the pokemon series. We might have to change that to "arctic regions".

Also, make it hunt Snorunts, lol.

Aahahahaha. Snorunts XD

I'm sure they mention South Africa at one stage. Ah, Mew! They mention south africa for Mew!

Should I change the "y" to a double e Doug? Something to make it easier to pronounce?

EDIT: Can it hunt Delibirds? Pretty please!!!

Just make sure that we saw Arctic or Antarctic ... with the non-Articuno spelling, if you know what I mean.

I still will always pronounce it Owww-Fye-Luhs.

I'm also bandwagoning for it to hunt Delibirds or Smoochum. They're both pretty defenceless.

Also, for the record, what's the height/weight of this pokemon?

EDIT: Snorunts dex entry says "The snow country", maybe we should use that?

Yeah, I hate Delibirds. :(

Also, now we know why Snorunts always try to find homes. XD

I did a google search out of interest. No results turn up for Aufylus, so that name isn't taken by anything else :toast:

EDIT: Also Doug, Hexafrost seems like a good name for a pre-evo, one with a cacune in a hexagonal shape

How about this:

"[Insert his final name here]s live in high altitude places and in snowy areas. The prey on any defenseless pokemon such as Delibirds and Snowrunts. When the weather unsuspectingly heats up they will form a cocoon that traps all of its -C body temperature."

Height 5' 7"
Weight 182.3 lbs

Well, given that Delibirds are 2'11" and weigh 35.3 lbs, and Snorunts are 2'04" and 37 lbs, I'd say that an ideal height might be around 5'7" and weigh around 182.3 lbs.

This seems to be quite reasonable. After all, it does have to fly off with its prey and manage to keep itself airborne. Weighing 460 lbs isn't very practical for flight or anything. (Plus, it doesn't even look that heavy.)
