Smogon's first Create-A-Team - Part 3

What should be our first pokemon?

Note that the poll says "First Pokemon," not "Lead Pokemon". If this is intended to be looking for a Lead, I highly doubt the likes of Mamoswine, Snorlax and Togekiss would be listed up there, and names like Gengar and Gyarados would be.

I voted Togekiss. Hoping against the hax version, mind you, but going for the NP sweeper. It's seriously very deadly and has a useful ground immunity along with great defenses to stand up to various attacks, come in multiple times if it needs to, it can heal the team, heal itself, and sweep pretty well with AS/Aura Sphere/Nasty Plot. Looks like it's got no hope, though, but I'm fine with either Mamo or Gallade. I'd lean more towards Gallade, though, as he can status, SD, and still take a hit.

Other

I don't think any of those options are good. A starter have to be a pokémon that can deal with a great number of pokémons.

That's why Gengar is the best option.

Gengar@Leftovers [max spd/satk]
- Hypnosis
- Will-o-Wisp
- Shadow Ball
- Destiny Bond

With that, you can deal with almost every pokémon that shows up. You'll make useless 2 pokémon (hypnosis+destiny bond), any physical sweeper (burn) and also hit hard ghosts and stuff with shadow ball.

Wow, it's just like... perfection.

Aw damnit, I hit the wrong one... They're right next to eachother so thats probably why.

Please take one vote away from Lucario and add it to Gallade.

Thanks.

I voted for Togekiss, more specifically, a scarfed Togekiss. Ever since I tested this out, I have absolutly loved it. Togekiss can run a Modest nature and easily hit 384 speed to outrun base 125's and still have 372 SpAtk. Air Slash's 60% flinch rate and STAB actually makes Togekiss much more powerful than other choice scarf pokemon. Togekiss is also bulky enough not to be KO'd from just a couple of random attacks that slip through that flinch. A extremely good pokemon for sure.

^ I hate Togekiss, LOL flinchhax flinch flinch. What a bitch.

Anyway, I voted for Lucario just because it's so awesome and versatile. I was under the impression that this was just a pokemon on the team and not necessarily the starter though, most of the pokemon mentioned are not great starters.

Lol make sure you give me some credit for idea in you're RMT.

Anyway, I still think the scarf azelf set I previously mentioned would be great for this team...

but I might still go for scarfgar lead. We'll see.

What's up with Slice and Iggy putting choice scarf on random shit? Also SD Gallade would be fun, but I fear it lacks the speed, maybe nasty plot togekiss?

I would also like to see DDlomence on this team since it hurts stuff, and its great when they send is a special wall on the dd expecting specs

I voted Mamoswine. I like the LO version better than the CB one just because I like being able to switch moves, but both hit really hard. I think it would be nice for the team to end up being composed of some of the lesser seen members of the OU environment and not just whoring Garchomp/Blissey and the likes. I'm really looking forward to the completed project.

Just wondering, this vote is just for the first member of the team which isn't necessarily going to end up being the lead right? There seems to be some confusion concerning this.

I want both Mamoswine and Lucario, as many people do. I picked Lucario as I'm interested to see these two fight for the rights to be on the #1 choice for our offensive team. Then, later on, we will get the loser of this two horse race.

I think I do it more now simply to aggrevate you more than any other reason Brawley =)

And Slice, I'll be sure to give you credit from now on, but I didn't copy it from your RMT, no matter what you think. It is a really great set though, I don't blame you for wanting credit.

That's exactly why I love it.

I chose Gallade for the versatility of Trick Room. If it's faster than an opposing lead, TR doesn't need to be activated. If it's slower and the opponent is special, it can activate Trick Room with little risk.

Just because you posted it on Smogon doesn't mean someone else didn't think about it earlier.

Weavile much? lol

Mamoswine as a lead isn't a bad idea.. he's not an easy poke to switch in, so leads don't have to worry about that.

Simply put. I used this for voting for something different-

Ninjask@ Leftovers
Jolly
228 hp, 162 atk, 24 def, 96 spd.

Baton Pass
Swords Dance
Substitute
X-Scissor

all I know is that it's much bulkier than the normal Ninjask, while it is outran by some things with only 418spd, it does take hits and still can OHKO Dragon Dance T-tars as well.... and take some hits as well, I haven't tested it- but all I know is that it can take a Arcanine's Extremespeed and survive with about 25% left, but I haven't tested it out yet- I voted for "other" yesterday, but Smogon was messing up....

i vote mamoswine. despite the fact that i can't shut up about it, this was actually a hard decision for me. there's a few pokes there which i don't use and i'm curious of, especially something like lucario which is popular and strong but i haven't came around testing. in the end i vote swine because i want to see how someone else builds a team with it in the puzzle and how it differs from my own processes.

we could always gave both .-.
ive had alot of success with BU or cb gallade so :3

yeah, i thought about that too. in fact, in my awesome warstory that doesn't get enough love (hint hint), i used both CB swine and standard-ish gallade. that doesn't mean we should though. i hope people don't vote for the same pokes next round just because their guy missed out. we can't let our hormones do too much talking.

I was raped by a CBGallade the other day. You can't prepare for its attacks that hit all over the metagame. I think it should be considered as a contender for the team, it's just the speed lets it down abit.

i voted for Snorlax, because he is really underrated. In 386 everyone used him, and now he is called uselesss. But actually, he stops more Pokemon then Blissey as he has a noce 110 Base Atk aswell as 153 BP Move without any disadvantages.
