[Gen 3] OU Frantic Fusions (Old Version)​

Uses the old version of Frantic Fusions found on ROM.psim.us. Nickname your mon another Gen 3 OU mon; stats are averaged, primary type of the fusee becomes the fusor's secondary type (or secondary type of the fusee if shiny), and you pick up the fusee's movepool. This is a sharp contrast to the more recent version, which I really don't like all that much. I have no idea what is gonna be viable, lol. There's so many combinations. But I am up for discussion. 2-5 hit multi-hit moves: Sequence of 3, 4, 2, 5, 2 hits for each use. Repeats infinitely. One sequence for all 2-5 hit moves for each player.

Player 1 is the player that makes the challenge or initiates the search first on ladder. Player 2 is the 2nd player. The player order will be shown in the chat before the first turn.

Speed Ties: Player 1 wins the first speed tie. Then the winner of the next speed ties will alternate between Player 1 and 2.

Loaded Dice: For 2-5 hit moves with Loaded Dice, Player 1 will start with 4 hits, and Player 2 will start with 5 hits. For both players, subsequent 2-5 hit moves will alternate between 4 or 5 hits. For Population Bomb with Loaded Dice, it will always get 7 hits.

4-5 Turn Trapping Moves: Player 1 will start with 4 turns, and Player 2 will start with 5 turns. For both players, subsequent trapping moves will alternate between 4 or 5 turns.

Counterpicking:
Unless both players agree to who challenges first game, use the commands /roll 2 or /pick heads, tails to determine who is Player 1 for the first game. For subsequent games, the loser of the previous game can choose whether they are Player 1 or 2 for that game, or choose to roll again.

Monoletter

Mascot:

Monoletter is a tier played in the Natdex format. The gimmick is that every Pokemon on your team has to start with the same letter from the English alphabet. This creates some interesting strategies, For example C gets mons like clodsire, Chansey, Clefable, and Corviknight, making it a great defensive letter while also getting things like Charizard Y and Cinderace for a sun team. Other letters like G get great offensive play with Gholdengo, Greninja, Garchomp, Gallade etc, and K the mascot of the tier and arguably the best letter getting a plethora of threats like Kingambit, Kartana, Keldeo, Kommo- o and others. A lot of letters like J, W, and O are bit underwhelming compared to most letters and some are almost useless like Y and X which is why unbanning some uber Pokemon may be balanced in this format, For example, Yveltal. Since Y is so bad only getting access to 6 mons total and only one being fully evolved unbanning Yveltal is more than balanced giving, Y something to work with and even then still being pretty bad.

Summary of the Mod:
Neo Evolution is a re-imagining of existing Pokémon with a focus on giving underwhelming or outdated species modernized tools while toning down overbearing threats. The core idea is “if Game Freak made a balance patch,” with a mix of buffs, nerfs, and reworks. Every Pokémon receives at least a small tweak, whether it’s a stat redistribution, movepool expansion, or ability adjustment.

• Many evolutions and cross-gen relatives get upgrades to better reflect their design themes.
• Signature moves and abilities are retooled to create new identities (e.g., Dusknoir gains a reliable Ghost STAB, Florges gets a stronger cleric niche).
• Some mechanics like weather and terrain are fine-tuned to avoid overcentralization.

Competitive Overview:
The metagame is expected to be fast-paced but less matchup-fishing than standard OU.

• Gliscor becomes the flagship bulky pivot with improved hazard control, but loses some of its oppressive recovery to stay balanced.
• Roserade shines as a Spiker with a newly buffed Poison STAB, giving it a unique role compared to Amoonguss.
• Haxorus finally carves out a niche with a Dragon Dance rework that gives it versatility beyond pure wallbreaking.
• Defensive staples like Umbreon and Milotic gain tools to compete with modern threats without invalidating new options.

Overall, Neo Evolution emphasizes creative teambuilding: almost every Pokémon has a reason to be considered, but none are designed to dominate the tier outright.

for the ps coding discord's halloween contest i made a halloween solomod. its a monothreat ghost micrometa of 31 mons (counting formes) that includes very silly things such as:​

• several mons with three or four typings, plus a couple new types added for good measure

Summary of the mod: Altermons is a micrometa in which we create new forms for existing Pokémon called Alter forms, Alter forms cannot change the abilities or stats of the base Pokémon, only the typing and movepool may change which forces you to get creative with the tools available to you when designing mons!

Competitive Overview: Currently the metagame is still in it's infancy, our first slate is almost ready to be implemented but some Alter Pokémon have already shown themselves to be top tiers!

Probably my current favorite mon in the tier, Beheeyem is an incredibly strong slow breaker that nullifies abilities with its super strong Analytic boosted Core Enforcer which comes in handy vs. Flash Fire mons like Centiskorch.

Mega Lucario is a phenomenal late game cleaner, hitting most of the metagame extremely hard with Adaptability boosted Bug Buzz and Dark Pulse, it's currently probably the second best mon in the tier after Skeledirge.

We've got some cool mons coming soon, like a Dark/Dragon Zapdos-Galar, Bug/Fighting Palafin, Fire/Steel Clefable and more! It's been a ton of fun so far.

this is more experimental compared to other stuff i've done, but i've been thinking about it for a bit and wanted to share it anyway

Name of Mod: Path of Legends

Link to Changes: It's right here! (TEMPORARY EDIT: The spreadsheet is currently unavailable to access until a few days after the release of Legends ZA, some changes are currently being made)
Summary of the Mod: A Gen 9 National Dex meta where the only Pokemon usable are ones in the PLA and Legends ZA Pokedex, including every Mega-Evolvable Pokemon and some hand-picked ones, plus changes that introduce both gimmicks from the Legends games. Z-Moves, Dynamax and Terastallization are not usable. Freeze has been replaced by Frostbite (Burn clone for Special Attack,) and some moves can now inflict Drowsiness. Paralysis has been changed to be the 75% speed drop like in old gens, but can no longer cause a full paralysis. Additionally, there are now a slew of other miscellaneous changes to mechanics that are explained in the Spreadsheet.

• First are the two different move styles, Strong and Agile, introduced in PLA. To use Strong and Agile style, a Pokemon must hold either the Scroll of Strength for Strong style, or the Scroll of Speed for Agile style. Once a Pokemon has either equipped, there will be a box in-battle which allows you to trigger the effect of a Strong style move or Agile style move one time only. This works like Megas, so only one Strong/Agile move user per team.

• Once you use either, it will be announced in battle. Using a Strong-style move will increase its BP and accuracy by 25%, but your Speed stat is cut by 25%. Likewise, using an Agile-style move will increase your speed stat by 50%, but the BP of the move you're using will be cut by 25% to compensate. Both of these use 2 PP instead of one.

• You are also allowed to use multiple Mega Evolutions per team, albeit with a catch. The first Pokemon you Mega Evolve works like normal, but afterwards, any Pokemon that wants to Mega Evolve must undergo an X-turn wait, where X is the amount of Mega Evolved Pokemon on your team. (For example, if you have a Mega Victreebel and Mega Latios, you must wait 2 turns before Mega Evolving your Lucario.) These start on switch-in and reset when you switch out.

Many moves AND Pokemon have also been changed to be more viable. A full list can be found in the spreadsheet.

Competitive Overview: Not too sure yet, but here's a list of every fully-evolved Pokemon in the meta as of right now:

HOWEVER, I am going to list the important changes from the spreadsheet here. The most important are the type chart changes: Fairy no longer resists Bug, Ice now resists Poison, and Water is now weak to Poison. This does make quite a difference when looking at it closer. Fairy-types now get shriveled up by Mega Scizor, and Ice gaining a resistance definitely helps in the long run. Water-types especially dislike the new weakness to Poison, as there's quite a few Poison-types ready to take advantage of this. Here's some Pokemon and archetypes that have especially changed quite a bit due to the new changes:

The Weather Game

Weather is back from Gen 5 with a vengeance. Definitely not as overpowering, but there's quite a few weather setters here that I'd like to address here, since quite a few Pokemon have some new tools to use.

First off, Rain. Since Pelipper and Politoed do not exist, we instead have Whiscash and Simipour. Whiscash is especially important because it functions as a Pelipper lite, albeit with tools you may not expect. Firstly, Whiscash's Special Attack was buffed, so now you do have to be wary of Hydro Pump--but what's more important is its access to Stealth Rock and Spikes. Although Whiscash doesn't have a reliable recovery option, Stealth Rock is still equally important in a meta like this, where Offense has been a lot more ramped up. An honorable mention goes to Simipour, who is a more offensive take on Whiscash with Scald, even though it has to use Hidden Power as coverage. Notable Pokemon that get advantages in the Rain are Mega Swampert, Golduck, Basculegion, and even Lumineon.

Second, Sun, and it has been tremendously buffed. The obvious automatic setters are Ninetales and Simisear, with Simisear having better offenses and Ninetales being better in the Special Defense department. But the big one I want to talk about is, surprisingly, Cherrim. Not only has Cherrim's stats been buffed, but Flower Gift now automatically sets Sun alongside its previous effects. Not to mention Cherrim's stat buffs, with its Sunshine form being especially prevalent with 80/105/60/67/105/105 stats. Good luck surviving Petal Blizzard due to the 1.5x buff Cherrim gets. It is lacking in the coverage department, however, being completely unable to hit Steel-types, but do not forget that it has support. Mega Charizard Y is a great example, hitting the Steel-types Cherrim is unable to with its Fire moves, not to mention automatically setting up Sun for its team. The only reason why Megazard Y wasn't shown off is because I couldn't find an animated sprite for it in the Gen 5 style. Notable Pokemon that get advantages in the Sun are Hisuian Lilligant and Venusaur.

Third is Snow. Do you want an automatic Snow setter? Sorry, but your only option is Alolan Ninetales, but even then, it is surprisingly good at its job. Fast Aurora Veil is no joke, and Alolan Ninetales itself also has some decent utility moves. Mega Abomasnow is Snow's resident sweeper, as it and its base form now have Slush Rush instead of Snow Warning. Don't get me wrong, though, there are definitely some bulky options in the Snow, Walrein is a good example of such, and even Avalugg and its Hisuian form can take advantage of it with Ice Body. I'll leave it off here, since Snow is easily the least influencing weather in this mod, though I definitely think someone could build around it if they had the time.

Finally, Sand. There's two Pokemon I want to mention here. First, Tyranitar and its Mega. It's pretty much THE standard for Sand, as it's always been for quite some time now. Pursuit has been the defining factor of TTar ever since it was introduced, and let's not forget how bulky it can get when it Mega Evolves, and it doesn't need to be the only Mega due to the ability to bring multiple Mega Evolutions per team--Mega Garchomp has Sand Rush now, and it can do quite a lot of damage if you're not prepared to handle it. Hippowdon is also a bulkier Sand setter with reliable recovery in Slack Off if you want to use it, but the real highlight is Bastiodon, who has gained Sand Stream. Bastiodon is stupidly bulky, and now that it has Sand Stream, it is even more bulkier than ever before, and the Steel type can be invaluable for moves that Tyranitar would otherwise be weak to. There's not too many Sand users besides Mega Garchomp, but other Ground, Rock and Steel types definitely come to mind.

Terrains

Terrains have brought themselves back in, and although there are currently only two of them (THERE'S TWO OF THEM?!), their users are nothing to scoff at. Raichu-Alola has forgone Surge Surfer in favor of setting Electric Terrain itself with Electric Surge, and Nasty Plot + Rising Voltage is an especially scary combo some teams have to plan for. You could even run Choice Scarf to make sure you go as fast as possible with Alolan Raichu, though most times Nasty Plot is equally as good. Simisage has also gained Grassy Surge and Grassy Glide, and although it doesn't have Swords Dance, it definitely has a lot of useful coverage like Knock Off, Rock Slide, and Shadow Claw. The terrains themselves can also provide very useful field effects, so they're definitely worth experimenting with.

Mega Blastoise

Unlike other Water-types, Blastoise does not care at all about Water now being weak to Poison. This is because of its Mega Evolution. Mega Blastoise has been buffed to be Water/Steel type, which means it is completely immune to Poison moves, and it becomes even scarier when you realize how much it benefits from the changes in this mod. Thanks to Shell Smash, Mega Blastoise is a very dangerous sweeper, ESPECIALLY in the Rain to support Whiscash (taking Grass moves Whiscash wouldn't like) and just on all kinds of teams. Its movepool is also extremely versatile, packing coverage options like Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Ice Beam, and much more to take on just about any threat. This is definitely going to be on the watchlist when the meta gets coded, and I might just nerf it by removing Shell Smash so it doesn't just break the meta wide open.

Carnivine

Now you might be asking yourself, "what could Carnivine be doing here?" Well, Carnivine has actually been significantly buffed into a more versatile bulky threat. It's now Grass/Steel type and has a lot of new toys to play with, with some notable options being Tachyon Cutter, Gyro Ball and U-turn. U-turn especially turns Carnivine into a slow offensive pivot with a lot of options at its disposal. The set shown here is a more offensive Autotomize set with Tachyon Cutter and Giga Drain for recovery, though it's bulky enough to use a SubSeed set or even a physical set with Swords Dance, Iron Head and Power Whip. It also fits well into Rain teams, helping it neuter its 4x weakness to Fire, and it can synergize quite well with the common threats, gulping up Ground-type moves due to Levitate that some Pokemon would not bother to take normally. This mon was buffed to hell and back, and it's quite the standout, which I really enjoy.

Same 'Ol, Same 'Ol

This section is gonna cover quite a few Pokemon that I still think would prevail, even in a format like this where everything is shaken up. These Pokemon still stand out in the usual ways, so don't be afraid to try them out!

Landorus-Therian is pretty self explanatory, one of the most versatile Pokemon to ever exist, even with the slight nerf to its Attack. I don't need to write much here, it does the same things it has done for literally every single Generation it has been apart of, albeit with a bit more lenience due to all the crazy changes in the meta. You can run quite a lot of sets on this, hell even Hidden Power Ice sets to deal with other Lando-T's and Gliscor. Speaking of which...

The same thing goes for Gliscor, even with the slight nerf to its Defense. Poison Heal is nothing to scoff at, and Gliscor is especially versatile in its sets, maybe not as much as Lando-T, but definitely very expandable. Stealth Rock and Spikes come to mind, and you can also run Defog if you'd like. Swords Dance sets are also quite the buzzword, even with the new bulkier options taking up space. However, they also appreciate Gliscor in its comps, allowing it to do the same things it's done for quite a bit.

Mega Lopunny has probably been indirectly buffed by the changes this format brings. Fairy no longer resisting Bug means Mega Lopunny can fire off U-Turns on the slower Fairy types in the meta, eg. Sylveon and Florges, without much worry, and there's always the scariness of STAB Return and High Jump Kick teams need to deal with. Dusclops especially has become quite weak to Mega Lopunny due to it gaining the Normal-type, and Mega Sableye also probably wouldn't appreciate taking a HJK to the dome. However, Mega Lopunny also gets to relish in the glory of multiple Mega Evolutions. If you Mega Evolved only one other Pokemon before bringing in Lopunny, it can still Fake Out on the first turn to get its Mega active again whilst the opponent can do nothing. It makes Mega Lopunny even more of a threat than it was before, and can definitely facilitate itself on offensive teams if the opponent isn't prepared.

Slowbro, and by extension, its Mega (and Slowking) are quite the oddballs here, but even with its dopey status, Slowbro still prevails. Its walling capabilities are still quite expansive, and allows it to chunk hits from Pokemon it would otherwise have no business dealing with. Its Mega also comes in handy for this, as even though it loses Regenerator, the multiple Mega clause definitely gives it a lot more power, as it does not need to Mega Evolve the moment it enters battle, despite the higher defenses that come with it. If anything, Slowbro is still an interesting Pokemon to play around with, especially with Calm Mind sets and Scald in its toolkit.

And that's everything. Yes, I'm aware Legends ZA isn't out, and that this meta is not coded, but it's fun to hypothesize. A fair note that once Legends ZA comes around, a lot of updates will be introduced, including the new Mega Evolutions and a fair share of other new content. But for now, this is where we're at. Feel free to check the spreadsheet and point out Pokemon I missed that could potentially fit into the meta. Hopefully this was interesting to read in some way!

33 Valuemons is a tier based around Generation 5 mechanics, but with mons from gens 1-4. You can use ANY pokemon, but you have a set budget to "purchase" your team from (similar to draft), so you need to be careful about what you buy. There are many changes from gen 5 to the specific Pokemon, to buff and nerf certain Pokemon. The full changes, pricing and more can be found on the document below.
