Ok, voting is over! Sorry that I couldn’t be here by Monday, but I’ve had my plate full, so I can’t say I’m particularly at fault. I would like to thank Abhisdn417 for giving me a hand with tallying the votes, because OH BOY, was this a doozy. Anyway, onto the results!

The winners of the checks section are...
Azure Nights and oliVes! Victini and Tangrowth recieved the most votes, at 7 and 5 respectively. Congratulations!

And as for winners of the counters section....
It’s a THREE WAY TIE! HydreigonTheChild, Tysonslayer, and TailGlowVM and their pokemon, Volcarona, Buzzwole, and Skarmory repsectively, recieved 6 votes! So, in order to decide our two victors, we must remove one! Luckily, I have made my decider right now! And the result is....
D53A73EE-816E-4E9A-B3CE-5D569FFD5A7A.jpeg

HydreigonTheChild and Tysonslayer win this round! Dearest apologies to TailGlowVM, but at least you can cope knowing that you only lost to luck ;)

And now onto our next victim....
It’s lean, Its mean, Its Ice attacks have a nasty tendency to freeze any opponent that tries to stand in the way of KYUREM, our next victim!

Kyurem @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Ice Beam
- Freeze-Dry
- Draco Meteor
- Focus Blast / Earth Power

This pokemon is well known for its destructive properties, alingisde great bulk that allows it to come in on a number of pokemon to wreak havoc! I mean the lore says it eats people, so surely its an unstoppable monster...right?

Oh and btw, Zama-C is banned for this round.

Scizor @ Heavy-Duty Boots

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off

- Roost
I nominate Scizor as a check to Kyurem.
Scizor can switch into any attack that Kyurem throws at it, due to its Steel-type and great bulk and shrug it off using Roost. Additionally it is able to Knock Off Kyurem's item as well making it a lot weaker and easier to handle for the rest of the team, as well as threaten serious damage on it with Bullet Punch. Swords Dance allows Scizor to be a rather nice win condition as well, giving it good utility outside checking Kyurem. However if Kyurem gets lucky it can 2HKO Scizor with Focus Blast, however this isnt guaranteed so the Kyurem must get very lucky.

Utility Clef is an incredible check to Kyurem, it is immune to its most powerful attack in Draco Meteor and it absolutely doesnt care about its coverage moves and can't be overwhelmed by hazards/status, after clef has come in many options are available in setting up rocks, crippling a switch in with knock off or just doing a bunch of damage with the blast of the moon.
Ice Beam has a chance to 2HKO but just by having clef you are forcing Kyurem to only click Ice Beam which clef's teammates can capitalize on.
(Kyurem is just kind of unwallable)

CALCS
252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Clefable: 187-222 (47.4 - 56.3%) -- 30.5% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Specially defensive Jirachi is a solid counter to Choice Specs Kyurem because of its defensive typing and Special Defense investment, letting it reliably check both Choice Specs and Substitute variants, although it has to be careful around Choice Specs Earth Power. Wish + Protect gives it good longevity and scouting potential while making it easy to heal up against Kyurem or even pass a Wish to a teammate. It can even set up Stealth Rock to limit non-Heavy-Duty Boots Kyurem's switch-ins.

Choice Band Kartana serves as a check against Specs Kyurem, though it cannot switch into none of it's moves, once able to be brought in safely Kartana can outspeed it and KO it with either Smart Strike or Sacred Sword easily. While at the same time it can force switches to be made can then either use Knock Off removing any items on mons that try to check it or heavily breaking past through teams as it starts wracking up kills for Beast Boost increasing the attack of it's moves.

Aegislash

Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 112 SpA / 144 SpD
Modest Nature
- Toxic
- King's Shield
- Shadow Ball
- Close Combat / Substitute

I sumbit Aegislash as a check to Kyurem. Let's adress that the best check to Specs Kyurem is undoubtedly Stealth Rock, which greatly limits its opportunities to break defensive cores. 9 time out of 10, Kyurem wants to click its Ice STAB moves, because Draco Meteor, Focus Miss and Earth Power aren't good moves to lock yourself into and its the powerful Ice STAB that allows Kyurem to wallbreak in the first place.
Aegislash is a powerful deterrent for anything that isn't Earth Power due to its ability to immediately gain momentum if it switches into an Ice move, which is a great tool for Balance or Bulky Offense that struggle to fit something that doesn't straight up die if Kyurem clicks the right move. In fact, most checks can just come in, tank the hit, Recover it up and be forced out again as Kyurem switches out to the appropriate teammate. Aegislash takes a more offensive approach by using the switchin opportunities to cripple an opposing team member with Toxic or throwing its mostly uncontested Shadow Balls; overall it's a very tricky Pokémon to deal with, which is bad news for a team that relies on Kyurem to break.

Moveset: Toxic, King's Shield and Shadow Ball are staples for Aegislash in this metagame, while the last slot is up to preference. CC deals 50% minimum to Tyranitar, Heatran and Blissey on the switch, while Substitute eases prediction and is exponentially more infuriating alongside Toxic and King's Shield.

EVs: 112+ SpA allows Shadow Ball to always OHKO 0/4 Tapu Lele after 1 round of Stealth Rock. 252 HP for maximum overall bulk since its HP is trash (always invest more EVs in the lower stat between HP and the defense of choice to maximize your spreads) and the rest in SpD because Aegislash is tasked with handling Kyurem and Tapu Lele primarily. If you don't care about the Tapu Lele cals, then you can freely invest more in SpD, but I advise you to retain some power on Aegislash not to waste its offensive presence.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 144 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 81-96 (25 - 29.6%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 144 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 63-75 (19.4 - 23.1%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 144 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 117-138 (36.1 - 42.5%) -- 95.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 144 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 216-256 (66.6 - 79%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Blissey is a great check to Kyurem, as it can come in into pretty much every attack and it can make use out of Soft-Boiled to keep itself healthy while doing so. Blissey can comfortably eat a Choice Specs-boosted Ice Beam and Freeze-dry and it also can heal itself with Soft-Boiled during Draco Meteor usage. Erath Power does pity damage to Blissey, as it wont do anything at all. The only attack Kyurem can effectively Blissey with is Focus Blast. Blissey can also use Toxic to effectively cripple Kyurem and Seismic Toss also helps in wearing down Kyurem, which means, it has less switch-ins left especially when entry hazards are up; so Blissey easily pressures Kyurem with these traits. Furthermore it is able to slow pivot with teleport into any of its teammates, which can offensively threaten Kyurem as well.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Blissey: 186-220 (26 - 30.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Blissey: 145-172 (20.3 - 24%) -- guaranteed 5HKO

Specs Dragapult is a good check to Specs Kyurem because it always outspeeds and easily OHKOs with Draco Meteor. Shadow Ball can also score a KO if Kyurem is below half HP.

Bulkarona is a check to kyurem, with 64 SpDef Ev's it can live a specs kyurem draco meteor and proceed to roost it off, 1v1 it can quiver dance and proceed to beat kyurem barring a crit or freeze. Ice beam is not 2hko'ing and it can setup on a locked ice beam. Every other move it to weak to do enough damage to the point of 2hko'ing it. Flamethrower also chips kyurem and forces it to switch out which may be taken advantage off since it has a stealth rocks weakness and is vulnarable to taking chip from everything which makes it easier to kill later in the game

0 SpA Volcarona Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Kyurem: 136-162 (34.7 - 41.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Nominating Max SpD :dp/heatran: as a check

Heatran @ Leftovers / Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 SpA
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- Taunt
- Toxic / Stealth Rock

This set with maximum SpD investment works as a switch in that can tank predicted Kyurem attacks like Ice Beam or Draco Meteor and then either: trap Kyurem or an opponent trying to switch into it like Pex or Blissey (or even just heavily damaging any switch in that doesnt resist it), set Stealth Rock to cripple Kyurem even more, or switching out and sending a teammate that can punch holes in the opposing team like SD Rilla and Volcarona. You could even run Air Balloon to switch into Earth Power in exchange for the passive recovery or an alternative EV spread of 52 HP / 204 SpA / 252+ SpD to always 2HKO Kyurem with Magma Storm if it dares to stay in while also keeping some bulk.

Some calcs:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Heatran: 42-49 (10.8 - 12.6%) -- possibly the worst move ever
252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Heatran: 120-142 (31 - 36.7%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 52 HP / 252+ SpD Heatran: 32-38 (9.5 - 11.3%) -- possibly the worst move ever

4 SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Kyurem: 147-174 (37.5 - 44.5%) -- 2% chance to 2HKO after trapping damage
