Twilight, barbaracle really is a threat for this version of the team, though the newer gastrodon version helps a lot in this department unless running grass knot.

Would probably have voted for Vikavolt if it had been paired with a Cleric, but usually its not that hard to actually deal with without. Specs Helio + no outrage haxorus is a little too ct'y for my liking, and corrosion salazzle ends up being pp stalled fairly easily out of its toxics, though a NP rotom instead of scarf would have made this core very dangerous.

Apologies for the week of hiatus but we're back! After the ban of Alolan Ninetales, things are in a spot where a lot of new toys can be explored, and lots of discoveries will be made. What new cores will be shown in the upcoming weeks? Thanks to VR host Hilomilo for providing this weeks team!

I really wanted to try Sun out when it dropped so I put together the standard Venu/Tales core. I opted for Leaf Storm on Venusaur so that it could pressure Ground- and Water-types without need for Sun and due to its greater power than Giga, allowing it to chunk switch-ins like Cobalion and Chandy decently. To support the core I added Noivern for speed control outside of sun and Defog, as well as its ability to lure in and bop some checks with a sun-boosted Flamethrower. Cobalion provides another solid Speed tier alongside an offensive check to Mamoswine with Shuca Berry, decent physical power allowing it to punch some holes for late-game, and an okay check to some stuff that otherwise threatens the team like Roserade. Originally my rocker was Rhyperior but I needed a stronger answer to special attackers like Gardevoir and Tea (which particularly just murked this build before Gig) as well as a mon that could disrupt opposing sun or mons like Chandy that could take advantage of Ninetales's sun. Gardevoir allows me to not rely on Cobalion as my Flygon switch-in and is a great general wallbreaker for the team.
Submission phase lasts until Friday, March 13th! Happy posting everone!

Srry for take for this a lot of time and thanks to DraconicLepus for his patience, well, without any more introduction, here is the core
Cobalion + Noivern

:ss/cobalion: :ss/noivern:
Cobalion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Iron Head
- Stone Edge/Rock Polish

Noivern @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Air Slash/Hurricane
- Roost
- U-turn

This team has problems to switch in against Cobalion without risk, Cobalion after one Sword Dance is able to deal a huge damage on every pokemon of this team, its able to outspeed Ninetales and and OHKO in return with a boosted CC/Stone Edge, the best way to deal with Cobalion is Revenge Kill with Venusaur under sun or Fire Coverage with Noivern. Noivern is able to pivot on Venusaur as it doesn't have poison stab to hit Vern, Weather Ball under Sun can be resisted, Leaf Storm is a x4 resistance and inmunity to EP, just have to worry of a Weather Ball under Sand. Also Noivern can be a Hard switch in to opposing noivern and OHKO with Draco Meteor, or U-Turn on a Gigalith swith in and bring Cobalion for free set up opportunit.
Both Double Dancer Cobalion or Stone Edge coverage can work to break this team, Rock Polish allows to Outspeed Venusaur under sun and Noivern and deal a lot with a boosted Iron Head, and Stone Edge ensure the OHKO on Noivern after a SD. Vern can also pivot on Ninetales and chip with stab Dragon/Flying, both Air Slash and Hurricane are ok, Hurricane deal more damage but can miss on sun with a 50% accuarcy, Air Slash is more consistent and can flinch, but it doesn't chip as Hurricane does.
+2 252 Atk Cobalion Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ninetales: 387-456 (134.8 - 158.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Cobalion Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Noivern: 246-289 (79 - 92.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 Atk Cobalion Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Noivern: 408-482 (131.1 - 154.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Cobalion Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Venusaur: 237-280 (78.7 - 93%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Noivern Air Slash vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Venusaur: 200-236 (66.4 - 78.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Noivern Hurricane vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Venusaur: 294-348 (97.6 - 115.6%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Noivern Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Noivern: 416-492 (133.7 - 158.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Gardevoir and Cobalion form an effective offensive core vs this team. Gardevoir's only defensive answer is Gigalith and, well, itself, so Psychic is largely free. It will always be the fastest Pokemon on the field assuming it traces Chlorophyll from Venusaur, so it's able to throw off attacks without much repercussion. Cobalion aids Gardevoir by pivoting into any move Gigalith can use with ease thanks to Shuca Berry and threatening it out, in addition to being able to outspeed and OHKO this team's Gardevoir while also pressuring Ninetales, Noivern and Venusaur outside of sun, in addition to OHKOing the opposing Cobalion with a Swords Dance boost.

One neat thing to note is that Gardevoir can actually OHKO Cobalion with Mystical Fire in the sun even without Choice Specs. This can be important as it would otherwise live a hit and OHKO back.
252 SpA Gardevoir Mystical Fire vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Cobalion in Sun: 316-372 (97.8 - 115.1%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

So you have a special wall and a physical wall. Nice. Gigalith's sand ruins sun plays by VenuTales core, and also prevents weather ball from threatening doublade, which basically means that with correct play the sun core doesn't work whatsoever as doublade can wall venu when sand is up over sun. Furthermore Gigalith destroys noivern and beats Gardevoir (Gigalith is tanky enough specially to take to take a moonblast and then retaliate with stone edge). Cobalion is hard walled and threatened out by doublade, which also beats a choice locked gardevoir by ohkoing it with iron head. Doublade is able to beat what gigalith is weak to, and still hits hard against everything in the opposing team. (Oh btw Careful allows extra Tankiness but I prefer Adamant) An especially nice scenario goes: Ninetales comes in on doublade, fire blasts (yes a solar beam predict can fuck this up but still) into giga, and now the opponent has massive problems, as Giga's edgequake threatens everything. Doublade is also able to threaten a sweep if ninetales and venusaur are chipped sufficiently or if the opponent plays poorly by setting up with swords dance and shadow sneaking. Ninetales is a small problem but it only becomes a problem if you get badly outplayed and put into a solar beam predict situation, while venusaur is not a problem if gigalith is used properly to shut down sun. Doublade is tanky enough to not care about the opposing giga's eq and to survive Noivern's flamethrower. You also have a nice rocker in giga which is the icing on the cake.

Gardevoir with Choice Scarf it can outpace every mon on the team and spam its moves pretty freely. Gigalith is the only mon that can safely switch into it. Despite lacking a boosting item Gardevoir is able to OHKO Cobalion if utilizing Ninetale's sun too. Overall making it extremely threatening when backed up by Noivern. Noivern running Taunt Toxic is able to lure Gigalith with ease and make Gardevoir's presence more daunting when compared to a traditional Gigalith answer. Toxic + Taunt also gives Noivern tools to do damage more consistently than it may using Hurricane under Sun.

Centiskorch can annoy Ninetales and Venusaur a good bit, especially with a bulkier spread and Sun up. Doublade puts a hard stop to Gigalith and Cobalion's shenanigans and can help Centiskorch beat Gardevoir with proper prediction. It's definitely not infallible, but it's effective with proper play.

That's the submission phase over! Now before we get onto voting I have an announcement. After discussion with my cohost Nuked, we have decided to temporarily blacklist user Zapcre for multiple reasons. Because of this, he will not be including in the voting for this week.

This team was meant to be built around Double Dance Cobalion, but it ended up being a hyper offensive Golurk team instead. Golurk usually leads unless there's an Electric-type that the team would otherwise struggle with. Cobalion and Inteleon are good late-game cleaners and Spikes Roserade, Golurk, and Rotom-Frost are good at softening the team up. Xatu's just overall a great pivot on offensive teams and it counters Weezing and hard checks Sirfetch'd for the team. The submission phase ends on Friday, March 20, so good luck!

Basic sun core, Venusaur under sun is able to OHKO everything after a Growth, Ninetales can also work as a Breaker with Nasty Plot + Fire Blast and Solar Beam. Also nobody can change weather, so Venusaur will always get the speed boost and Fire Type Weather Ball. Venusaur is able to outspeed Scarf Rotom and Cobalion would need a Rock Polish boost to outspeed, not to much to add tbh, Venusaur can KO anything with 3 standar moves, just see those damage calcs. The best answer is Xatu, however it gets OHKO by a Sun Boosted Weather Ball at +2.
252+ SpA Life Orb Venusaur Weather Ball (100 BP Fire) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Frost in Sun: 367-432 (152.2 - 179.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Life Orb Venusaur Weather Ball (100 BP Fire) vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Roserade in Sun: 372-439 (141.9 - 167.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ SpA Life Orb Venusaur Weather Ball (100 BP Fire) vs. 252 HP / 208+ SpD Xatu in Sun: 365-430 (109.2 - 128.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

While the above core isn't amazing versus Rotom-Frost, it is able to quite effectively deal with the other four non Xatu members of the team. A standard fast Hex Jellicent spread that creeeps Machamp also happens to creep this Golurk, letting the Jellicent deal with Cobalion, Inteleon and Golurk, while Escavalier can deal with Golurk, and Roserade.

While Xatu can just teleport constantly against Jellicent, the only threat to the core is a Scarf Rotom-Frost which relies heavily on immaculate prediction to cause any permanent damage, and gets quickly chipped down if it comes in any other way than by Xatu.
