UU Leader
Congratulations to Xylia, whose Shadow Ball Roserade takes the victory for this round! This week, we'll be looking at our new toy - Keldeo!

Week 10: Keldeo
:ss/keldeo-resolute:
Keldeo-Resolute @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind
Keldeo has made quite the splash since dropping to UU, with many calling for its ban. In particular, its Choice Specs set has been making waves, but its other sets like Calm Mind and Protect + Toxic have been slicing through teams too. Its great typing and decent bulk means it's often forced to check certain Pokemon, though... maybe they'll have something in their movepool that allows them to lure it? We'll have to see. Lures must be submitted by Thursday, June 11th!

Arcanine @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wild Charge
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Close Combat

252 Atk Choice Band Arcanine Wild Charge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 286-338 (88.5 - 104.6%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

nothin really special. CB doggo just hits hard and acts as p good keld lure. Also cb extreme speed is very strong it could 2hko most stuff even noivern.

reserving scarf Darmanitan Zen Headbutt

Darmanitan @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Zen Headbutt
- U-turn
- Rock Slide

Scarf Darmanitan outspeed keldeo + almost OHKO him :
252 Atk Sheer Force Darmanitan Zen Headbutt vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 262-310 (81.1 - 95.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(if you want to use the adamant version of scarf Darm : 252+ Atk Sheer Force Darmanitan Zen Headbutt vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 288-340 (89.1 - 105.2%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock)
Because Flare Blitz does "only" 45.5 - 53.5%, zen headbutt is a good lure in a 1v1 situation against keldeo, since keldeo doesn't like to come on a Flare Blitz, or something else.

:ss/gastrodon:
Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Recover
- Scald
- Toxic
- Mirror Coat

Gastrodon is a pretty good rain check all-around, but it struggles heavily against Keldeo. Obviously it doesn't fear Keldeo's water STABs, but it really wishes it took those Secret Swords slightly better as they do 44 - 52%. It crucially manages to avoid the 2HKO without any prior chip, but the damage output is very tempting for Keldeo to sit there and fish for a crit. The typical Gastrodon sets have to undergo this with no chance of fighting back outside of landing a Toxic and stalling some more. Mirror Coat provides a more immediate threat that can also be a nasty surprise to a slew of other special attackers that often carelessly throw out attacks against the slug such as Sylveon, Weezing-Galar and Keldeo's partner in crime Pelipper.

reserving banded incin
:ss/incineroar:
Incineroar @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Thunder Punch
- Flare Blitz
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Keldeo is always super free on incin unless it needs knock off to break but it resists both incin stab and threaten it with his STABs. With banded electric punch, incin will considerably chip it :
252+ Atk Choice Band Incineroar Thunder Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 270-318 (83.5 - 98.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
and keldeo will struggle to come in since it will either die to hazards or to a random attack.

Rain Dance Mantine

Mantine @ Life Orb/Heavy Duty Boots
Modest Nature
Swift Swim
252 S. Atk/ 144 Spd / 112 HP (or something slightly more clever idk)
Rain Dance
Hurricane
Hydro Pump/Surf
Roost

Switch in on whatever you like, Rain Dance for the speed boost and wreck shit.

You can tweak this to be more offensive or defensive, but everyone expects Mantine 5o be quite passive when he's got solid offensive capabilities.

Stats let you survive any 2 hits and still outspeed in the Rain. Hurricane OHKOs through Stealth Rock 100% of the time, does minimum like 98%.

Note that Mantine is slower before the Swift Swim, so can Keldeo doesn't get to take advantage of Rain. You can also just Roost through it's Hydro Pump PP.

It's particularly funny when they nope out of the Rain Dance into Toxtricity, who is outsped and one shot by either Hydro Pump or Life Orb Surf even without hazards.

Ramolost has won this week with Choice Band Incineroar! Congratulations!

Week 11: Rhyperior
:ss/rhyperior:
Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
Rhyperior has always been a very solid Pokemon in UU. It's pretty hard to switch into, and its typing lets it stonewall some threats that are otherwise nightmarish to deal with, like Noivern lacking Draco Meteor, Incineroar, and Choice Scarf Darmanitan. In short, Rhyperior rocks.

Submissions are due Tuesday, June 23rd!

45kogk.jpg

So here's a kinda terrible set that lures Rhyperior very well.

Arcanine @ Power Herb
Timid Nature
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 200 HP / 200 Def / 92 SpA / 16 Spe
- Solar Beam
- Toxic
- Morning Sun
- Flamethrower

Flamethrower + Solar Beam always kills with Stealth rock, you can add a little more S Atk if you want to guarantee even without SR, or less if you run Spikes/ T Spikes /Sun.

The winner for this week will be PlusC, as they were the only person to fill out a submission.

This project will now be placed on hold until the metagame stabilises following next week's shifts, so please be patient until then! :>

I'm happy to announce that I'll be resuming this project now that we've gotten DLC shifts and the metagame has become more stable! Kicking it off this week with a Pokemon that recently dropped...

Week 12: Skarmory
:ss/skarmory:

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Brave Bird
- Body Press
- Spikes
- Roost

Skarmory has soared to the top of the pool of viable Pokemon in the tier, using its titanic physical bulk to reliably check threats like Krookodile, Mimikyu, and Crawdaunt, being one of the few Pokemon in the tier capable of withstanding their attacks. Its fantastic typing also makes it a fantastic natural countermeasure to Pokemon like Roserade and Celebi, while also ensuring that it's one of the only long-term counters to the highly threatening Scolipede. How will you clip Skarmory's wings?

Submissions are due Sunday, July 12th.

:jirachi: :ss/jirachi: :jirachi:
Jirachi @ Expert Belt
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Psychic
- Aura Sphere
- Thunderbolt
- Iron Head
Mixed Jirachi is a great lure for Skarmory, as Expert Belt boosted Thunderbolt does a ton and even has a chance to OHKO after rocks. This set can also lure Pokemon such as Tyranitar that might think its a CM set, only to be Iron Headed. Outside of Skarmory, it hits Slowking, Mantine, Starmie, Tentacruel, and can also lure things that would otherwise take physical hits such as Cobalion. This set can also shred certain stall builds if you run Energy Ball over Aura Sphere, as Skarmory is lured and Quagsire gets OHKOed by Energy Ball (and takes a ton from Psychic).

252 SpA Expert Belt Jirachi Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 262-310 (78.4 - 92.8%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Expert Belt Jirachi Aura Sphere vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 235-278 (68.9 - 81.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Expert Belt Jirachi Aura Sphere vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Cobalion: 230-271 (71.2 - 83.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Expert Belt Jirachi Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Slowking: 182-216 (46.3 - 54.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Expert Belt Jirachi Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mantine: 298-350 (79.6 - 93.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Tyranitar @ Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Fire Blast

This is a cool SR Ttar set that Twilight came up with that I think fits the criteria. Skarmory is generally people's go to for Tyrannitar I've noticed, and this set does very well at luring it in and smashing it with Fire Blast, which does about 60-70%. Skarmory cannot even Roost off the damage. Chople allows it to eat a Body Press if need be, as well as tank any other stray fighting move lures. This lure is also great for Cobalion, as well as the occasional (and chipped) Steelix.

0 SpA Tyranitar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 202-238 (60.4 - 71.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Def Skarmory Body Press vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Chople Berry Tyranitar: 186-220 (46 - 54.4%) -- 55.1% chance to 2HKO
0 SpA Tyranitar Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Cobalion: 200-236 (61.9 - 73%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Tyranitar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Steelix: 144-170 (40.6 - 48%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Krookodile @ Chople Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Smack Down

Krookodile's usual incentive on most squads is get up rocks and throw out a STAB or two. More often than not, they'll feel obligated to send out their ground immunity, in this case, Skarmory. Smack Down removes Skarm's ground immunity, allowing for Krook to pummel away at it with Earthquake. This also works with Rotom-W and Weezing-G, althought you need to do it on the switch for all three. Chople Bery is just a great item on Krook in general, letting it act as a one time switch to mons like terrak and murder dog lycanroc.

Flygon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Roost

That Dpp set is quite useful against a physical wall like skarmory. You can eq and lure Choice scarf flygon and cooks the skarm with Fire Blast.
This set is not necessarily very innovative, but it's an excellent lure against Skarm.

252 SpA Life Orb Flygon Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 328-386 (98.2 - 115.5%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

Banned deucer.
shock wave celebi

:ss/celebi:
Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Dazzling Gleam / Earth Power
- Giga Drain
- Shock Wave

celebi actually gets walled by skarmory and skarmory has enough power to force celebi out, but a nasty plot boosted shock wave enable celebi to hit
this threat with a super effective electric-type move. giga drain is for its stab-option and dazzling gleam can hit druddigon, noivern, heracross, as well as
kyurem, whereas e-power hits steel-types and fire-type pkmn like chanelure.

calc: +2 252 SpA Celebi Shock Wave vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 292-344 (87.4 - 102.9%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
